Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 25
The moment her waist was embraced, Wen Wen knew exactly what Jiang Chi intended to do. Reacting swiftly, she raised her hand to cover the approaching lips and uttered two words: “Not allowed.”
“Mmmph!”
With her mouth covered, Jiang Chi could only make muffled sounds.
Wen Wen knew she was asking why. She countered, “Why do you want to kiss me?”
Jiang Chi froze. She had been trying to resist, but now, she simply stared at Wen Wen in confusion.
Wen Wen lowered her hand, letting her fingers linger near Jiang Chi’s collarbone. Though her tone seemed casual, her words were deadly serious: “When you figure out the answer to that question, I’ll let you have whatever you want.”
After what happened in the break room last time, Wen Wen had given serious thought to one question:
Should they indulge in pleasure without asking for anything else?
But she couldn’t do it.
She liked Jiang Chi, had liked her since middle school, when her heart first fluttered. Twelve years had passed, and the desire to possess her had never faded.
But what would happen afterward?
Would Jiang Chi walk away, leaving her behind?
No, she wouldn’t just be left behind, she would plunge into an abyss.
Did Jiang Chi like her now?
Were all these unusual behaviors merely instinctive reactions to her teasing, or were they driven by genuine affection and possessiveness?
Even Jiang Chi herself probably didn’t know the answer.
So how could Wen Wen be sure…?
Right now, she didn’t want Jiang Chi’s kiss to be just a moment of reckless passion. She wanted all of her—heart, body, and soul.
The choice she could offer Jiang Chi was binary: either complete possession, or nothing at all. There was no middle ground.
Wen Wen sighed silently, opened a box of Six Walnuts, and shoved it into Jiang Chi’s hands. “Drink more of this. Maybe it’ll help that wooden head of yours.”
With that, she turned and headed for the door to retrieve the three remaining boxes of Six Walnuts still sitting there.
The cold can of Six Walnuts jolted Jiang Chi back to her senses. She quickly chased after Wen Wen, wrapping her arms around her from behind and puckering her lips to kiss Wen Wen’s cheek—only to be blocked again, with the same two words: “Not allowed.”
Jiang Chi released her and pulled the hand away from her mouth. “Why?! Why can’t I even kiss your cheek?! Why can you kiss me but I can’t kiss you?! These are tyrant rules! It’s not fair!”
She crossed her arms, her cheeks puffing out in frustration—like a little dog with its fur all ruffled.
Wen Wen looked at her and couldn’t help but smile. This was exactly how she had imagined Jiang Chi reacting last night when she received the message—utterly adorable.
But “not allowed” meant not allowed.
She shrugged slightly, her reasoning flawless. “I kissed you because you asked for a reward. But I never asked you for one.”
With that, she turned to leave again.
Jiang Chi stomped her foot in protest. “Jiejie, you can’t just kiss someone and not take responsibility! You’re definitely some kind of 20th-century tyrant, exploiting powerless commoners like me… uh.”
The last word trailed off awkwardly.
At the doorway, a man’s stiff face peeked out from behind the wall, his expression a mix of embarrassment and shock.
Wen Wen took the takeout from him and smiled. “Don’t mind her. Just a kid throwing a tantrum.”
Jiang Chi coughed lightly into her hand and quickly retreated into the bathroom.
The water gushed out as Jiang Chi scooped it up and splashed it directly onto her face. She raised her head to look at her reflection in the mirror, droplets sliding down her cheeks and falling into the sink with a soft plink.
She touched the spot where Wen Wen had kissed her earlier—no lingering warmth remained. I shouldn’t have washed my face, she thought regretfully.
Slapping the faucet, she grumbled, “This is all your fault!”
Then, recalling the earlier scene, she ruffled her hair in frustration.
So embarrassing!
I can’t face anyone now!
With that thought, she crouched on the toilet seat, curling herself into a pitiful little ball.
Soon, a knock sounded at the door, followed by Wen Wen’s voice. “Come out and eat.”
No movement. No response.
About thirty seconds later, another knock came, Wen Wen’s tone laced with amusement. “What’s wrong? Too shy to face me?”
Playing dead.
Wen Wen coaxed, “Come out. I won’t tease you. Weren’t you hungry?”
Jiang Chi puffed her cheeks and shouted, “You’re totally laughing right now! Hmph, mean sister! I don’t wanna talk to you!”
Wen Wen cleared her throat. “Not laughing. Be good and come eat.”
Jiang Chi mumbled, “Sis, I just washed my face.”
“Hmm?” Wen Wen feigned ignorance. “And?”
“I washed your kiss away.”
At this, Wen Wen understood her hidden meaning but pretended otherwise. “So?”
“Promise to give me another kiss, and I’ll come out.”
Jiang Chii spoke rapidly, deliberately slurring her words to make them unclear.
Wen Wen played along. “What did you say? Say it again.”
Jiang Chi repeated it at the same speed and tone, but Wen Wen still “couldn’t hear.”
On the third try, Jiang Chi slowed down, enunciating each word. “I said—sis, promise—to give me—a kiss—and I’ll come out.”
“Ah, got it.” Wen Wen mused. “But you washed it off. Why should I compensate? That’s not fair.”
“Sis, I really won’t talk to you now!”
True to her word, Jiang Chi stayed silent even after Wen Wen called her name three more times.
Wen Wen sighed. “Such a child.”
“I’ll count to three.”
Before she even finished, the door swung open with a whoosh, revealing Jiang Chi’s grinning face inches from hers.
“Knew you’d give in!” Bending down, Jiang Chi puffed out her cheek and tapped it. “Sis, quick, muah!”
Wen Wen chuckled and planted a loud kiss on her cheek. “Happy now?”
Jiang Chi straightened up, heading to the dining table while cupping her cheek, as if to prolong the sensation. Though clearly delighted, she feigned indifference. “Mm, kinda happy.”
“Kinda, huh?” Wen Wen drawled, eyeing her. “In that case, no more rewards like this.”
Jiang Chi froze, internally panicking. Backpedaling, she clung to Wen Wen’s arm, pleading, “Sis, I didn’t mean it! I’m super happy! Like, mega happy! Please don’t take this away! Her fingers poked and prodded playfully, all coquetry and puppy eyes.
Teasing this puppy is way too fun.
Her little puppy was just too adorable.
Wen Wen suppressed the upward curve of her lips and walked toward the dining room. “That depends on your performance.”
“Give me more rewards, sis.” Jiang Chi nuzzled her shoulder. “I promise I’ll be super obedient. If you tell me to go left, I absolutely won’t go right!”
With that, she quickened her steps and dashed to the dining table first, pulling out a chair for Wen Wen and gesturing grandly. “Your Highness, please take your seat.”
Once Wen Wen sat down, Jiang Chi took her place beside her and ladled out the pig brain soup she had specifically requested, placing it in front of her.
But the soup was pushed back. Jiang Chi blinked in confusion. “Sis, you don’t want it?”
Wen Wen nodded. “I ordered this for you. Be good and eat up.”
Jiang Chi pouted. “Sis, do you think I’m dumb?”
Come to think of it, Wen Wen had even handed her six walnuts earlier—wasn’t that also implying she was dumb?
“No, I don’t think you’re dumb,” Wen Wen said seriously, meeting her gaze. “Didn’t I just throw a question at you? Figuring it out requires brainpower, so you need to replenish.”
“Really?” Jiang Chi was half-convinced.
“Why would I lie to you?” Wen Wen countered without a hint of guilt.
Jiang Chi studied her intently, but Wen Wen showed no signs of deception, merely beginning her meal with elegant composure. Finally, Jiang Chi accepted it. “Thanks for looking out for me, sis.”
Wen Wen nearly failed to hold back her laughter. This little fool, what was she to do with her?
Would she really spend an eternity trying to figure out that question without ever finding the answer?
After lunch, Wen Wen made to head to the study, but Jiang Chi stopped her. “No way! Rest for a bit first, take a nap. Who starts working right after eating? Even beavers aren’t this diligent!”
Wen Wen let herself be steered toward the bedroom. “Beavers?”
“Yeah, beavers—they’re universally known as the hardest-working animals.” Jiang Chi pushed her onto the bed and flopped down first, stretching with a lazy yawn. Her shirt rode up with the motion, revealing a slender strip of pale waist, even the faint outline of her ribs.
Wen Wen turned, intending to ask when she planned to leave, but her gaze involuntarily trailed upward along the shifting fabric.
By the time she realized Jiang Chi had been motionless for a while, she looked up to find her staring back with a knowing glint in her eyes, how long had she been watching?
Jiang Chi grinned like the sun. “Sis, like what you see?”
Before Wen Wen could react, Jiang Chi grabbed her wrist and yanked her down on top of her, whispering by her ear, “Sis, you seem really eager for my body. Want to touch it?”
As she spoke, she guided Wen Wen’s hand toward her waist.
The moment her fingers brushed that cool skin, a jolt of electricity shot through Wen Wen’s entire body. She snatched her hand back, forcing composure. “I was just spacing out.”
“I know you were spacing out—wasn’t I the tempting distraction causing it?” Jiang Chi teased.
Wen Wen had fully regained her composure now. Meeting her gaze squarely, she returned to her original question. “When are you planning to go back?”
Jiang Chi bolted upright, all traces of playfulness vanishing in an instant, replaced by instant puppy-dog eyes. “Sis, are you kicking me out already?”
“I’m not kicking you out,” Wen Wen said, watching her. “Did you really think you could live here indefinitely?”
“Is that not allowed?” Jiang Chi rushed out. “I can pay rent!”
“No.” Wen Wen refused without hesitation. “You can’t stay here.”
“Why not? Don’t you live alone, sis?” Jiang Chi quickly grabbed her hand, shaking it. “I could keep you company if I stayed with you.”
“I’m not used to living with others.”
“You’ll get used to it eventually,” Jiang Chi said earnestly. “Unless you never plan to get married?”
“Hmm.” Wen Wen met her gaze with equal seriousness. “That was originally the plan.”
Originally…
Which meant she had plans now.
Jiang Chi instantly became alert. Did Wen Wen know about her breakup with Su Jing? Was she planning to make a move on him?
No way! What kind of person was Su Jing? He wasn’t worthy of Wen Wen in any way!
She probed cautiously, “Sis, can you tell me why you suddenly changed your mind?”
Wen Wen stared into her eyes. “Because now, I feel there’s hope.”
Jiang Chi swallowed hard, asking tentatively, “You mean… the person you like might like you back?”
Wen Wen: “Yes, I think so.”
Jiang Chi’s face instantly turned pale. Did Wen Wen really know about her breakup with Su Jing? But how?
Had Su Jing announced their breakup online?
What should she do? If Wen Wen really pursued Su Jing, what would she do?
“Jiang Chi?” Wen Wen called several times, but there was no response. Seeing her complexion worsen, Wen Wen lifted her chin directly. “What’s wrong? Why are you sweating?”
A glistening bead of sweat trickled down Jiang Chi’s temple, catching the sunlight from the window, glaringly bright.
Wen Wen stood up to fetch a tissue, but her hand was grabbed and pulled back by the person behind her.
“Where are you going, sis?”
“Nowhere. Don’t be nervous. Why are you breaking out in a cold sweat? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?” Wen Wen wiped the sweat from her temple directly.
“I’m fine,” Jiang Chi said calmly. Su Jing probably hadn’t announced their breakup—after all, they had never made their relationship public in the first place. And knowing Su Jing as she did, he would never publicize such an embarrassing thing as being dumped by a woman.
Even if something that big had happened, someone would have surely informed her by now.
“Are you really okay?” Wen Wen held her shoulders. “You were trembling just now.”
“I—I just ate too much and lay down too quickly. My stomach hurt a little earlier,” Jiang Chi said, now completely composed.
“Let me get you some digestive tablets.” Wen Wen started to walk out.
“No need.” Jiang Chi pulled her back. “I’ll be fine after resting a bit. Let’s take a break—don’t let me delay your work this afternoon.”
Wen Wen studied her. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
Jiang Chi flashed a sunny smile. “I’m really fine. Do I look like someone who would suffer in silence?”
Wen Wen narrowed her eyes and countered, “Aren’t you?”
The smile froze on her face. If Su Jing hadn’t entered her life, she might never have known what it felt like to endure humiliation.
That must be what Wen Wen was referring to. After all, her earth-shattering pursuit of Su Jing had become public knowledge online. Conversely, Su Jing’s attitude toward her was equally notorious.
Everyone knew she was an utterly lovesick fool around Su Jing.
How could such a one-sided relationship not be humiliating?
Jiang Chi pulled Wen Wen over, wrapped her arms around her waist, rested her chin on Wen Wen’s abdomen, and looked up at her with wide, blinking eyes: “Sis, you feel wronged for me too, don’t you? I’m really so pitiful, falling in love with someone so unworthy. The more I think about it now, the more I realize he truly doesn’t deserve love. Anyone who likes someone like him is bound to get hurt. So, sis, as someone who’s been through it, I advise you, when you look for a partner in the future, you absolutely, absolutely must not choose someone like him.”
“You’re so beautiful and outstanding, you should be held in someone’s palm like a princess, never suffering even a bit of grievance, understand?”
Wen Wen let herself be held, looking down at her: “Then what kind of person do you think I should find?”
Jiang Chi rolled her eyes, thinking seriously and solemnly, then suddenly brightened, her dark eyes gleaming as her gaze refocused on Wen Wen: “Someone exactly like me would be perfect!”
“Sis, you must have heard about my pursuit of Su Jing, right? Everyone who knows about it says I’m an ‘unprecedented, never-to-be-repeated’ level of lovesick fool, an epic-level simp.”
“Look, if you find someone like me, I’d definitely put you at the center of everything, always considering your feelings first. If we argue, I’d apologize first; if I’m angry, I’d back down first. I’d give you whatever you want, go wherever you say—never stepping a foot west if you point east. You could do anything you want, with just one condition: you can’t leave me. You have to keep loving me.”
It sounded so much like a deeply heartfelt confession. Wen Wen watched the animated expression on her face, if only these words were truly meant for me.
Wen Wen reached out to brush away the stray strands of hair from Jiang Chi’s forehead, smiling: “Since you’re so thoughtful on my behalf, if I ever look for a partner, I’ll use you as the standard and consider carefully.”
Jiang Chi instantly beamed, nuzzling her face against Wen Wen’s abdomen: “Mhm, mhm! Sis, you absolutely have to let me vet anyone you’re interested in first. Only if I approve!”
“You said it yourself—you’d use me as the standard. No take-backs.”
Wen Wen pressed a hand against Jiang Chi’s restless head, smiling faintly: “Mhm, I said it. You’re the standard.”
Jiang Chi exhaled a huge sigh of relief in her heart. The knot of anxiety over Su Jing loosened by half, completely oblivious to Wen Wen’s unusual mood. She was utterly confident—with how things were progressing so delightfully, she could definitely uproot Su Jing from Wen Wen’s heart!
Who knows, she might even claim the top spot in Wen Wen’s heart!
Jiang Chi eagerly tugged her toward the bed: “Sis, quick, you need to rest. Did you even sleep last night?”
“I did.”
“How long?”
“Three hours.”
“Only three hours?!” Jiang Chi looked utterly shocked. In one swift motion, she pulled Wen Wen down beside her, wrapping her limbs around her like a koala. “You have to nap for at least an hour today. Close your eyes and sleep now.”
Wen Wen managed to free one arm from her grip and pushed at the limbs pinning her down, sighing: “How am I supposed to sleep with you crushing me like this?”
“Just—sleep through it!”
“Get off.”
“No way. What if you sneak off to work?” Jiang Chi tightened her hold.
Wen Wen sighed in resignation: “Jiang Chi, do you realize what you’re acting like right now?”
Jiang Chi pondered seriously for a moment, then grinned: “Like someone fussing over a disobedient lover?”
Wen Wen froze instantly. For a moment, she thought Jiang Chi had seen through her thoughts. Why did this person keep saying such misleading things without ever getting the hint?
Was she playing house with her?
Seeing her silence, Jiang Chi immediately apologized, “Sorry, sis. I didn’t mean to joke like that. Don’t be mad, okay?”
“Get down,” Wen Wen said simply, her tone calm.
Jiang Chi obediently withdrew her limbs and lay quietly to the side.
Wen Wen settled back into her spot and said, “Sleep. I’ll listen to you.”
Jiang Chi relaxed instantly, inching closer to Wen Wen and scratching the back of her hand, which lay neatly at her side. “Sis, if I can’t lie on you, can we hold hands?”
She looked up expectantly, but Wen Wen kept her eyes closed, showing no reaction.
Disappointed, Jiang Chi lowered her head, only to see Wen Wen’s hand turn palm-up, fingers twitching slightly as if inviting her to hold it.
She glanced back at Wen Wen’s face, but the woman’s eyes remained shut. Perhaps sensing her intense gaze, Wen Wen suddenly spoke, “Forget it if you don’t want to.”
Jiang Chi quickly grabbed the retreating hand, interlacing their fingers tightly with satisfaction.
Wen Wen tried to wiggle her fingers but found them trapped. “Don’t hold so tight.”
Jiang Chi pressed their joined hands to her cheek and nuzzled them. “No, I want to.”
A faint smile touched Wen Wen’s lips, and she didn’t pull away.
The peaceful afternoon slipped by to the rhythm of steady breathing.
Wen Wen stirred awake, fingers flexing as she opened her eyes to find Jiang Chi already alert, staring at her unblinkingly.
“Sis, has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are? I feel like I could look at you forever and never get tired.”
Wen Wen: “……”
Jiang Chi’s gaze roamed over Wen Wen’s face before settling on her earlobes, now tinged with a delicate pink. She reached out to pinch one. “Sis, your ears are so red. Are you blushing?”
Wen Wen caught her hand. “No, it’s just hot at noon.”
Jiang Chi clasped her hand back and leaned in to whisper by her ear, “I don’t believe you. Oh—” She paused, struck by a thought. “Sis, am I the first person to compliment you like this? Is that why you’re shy?”
Wen Wen chuckled, as if recalling something. “No.”
“Oh? Someone else praised you like I do?”
“More extravagantly than you.”
Wen Wen remembered the first time she met Jiang Chi.
Her grandfather had been transferred south, and their family had just moved. The moment she stepped out of the car, little Jiang Chi blocked her path.
The child stared up at her, eyes wide with genuine wonder. “Are you real? How are you prettier than my doll?”
Wen Wen repeated the words verbatim.
Jiang Chi sighed. “That person had great taste.”
Taking it as self-praise, Wen Wen got out of bed and spoke as if instructing a child. “I’m going to work. Play by yourself, and let me know before you leave.”
“Hmph, I’m not leaving,” Jiang Chi muttered, her smile vanishing as she looked down.
“What did you say?” Wen Wen genuinely didn’t catch her words, only hearing a faint buzzing sound like a mosquito.
“Nothing.” Jiang Chi immediately put on a smiling face. “You focus on your work. I’ll go shell some walnuts for you, you can eat them when you’re done working. They’re good for your brain!”
Wen Wen stared at her for a while without speaking.
Silent permission.
Seeing the other person leave the room, Jiang Chi quickly grabbed her phone.
Wen Wen had fallen asleep quickly, but Jiang Chi couldn’t sleep at all.
After confirming Wen Wen was asleep, she immediately checked Su Jing’s Weibo but found nothing unusual—just normal reposts of commercial endorsements.
She then looked at his other social media accounts, all of which showed no abnormalities.
This was typical of Su Jing’s behavior. Perhaps the man was still waiting for her to return and apologize, seeking reconciliation.
She verified this with Da Yu, and sure enough, it was true.
Da Yu said: [Mr. Su did ask me what you were doing today, so I told him the truth. Jiang Jiang, did something happen between you? Maybe it’s just my imagination, but I feel like… he was subtly hinting for me to quickly tell you he’s looking for you.]
[Sorry, Jiang Jiang. I meant to tell you right away, but I forgot.]
She sent a crying, pleading emoji.
Jiang Chi: [It’s fine. From now on, if he asks you about me, just brush him off with a few vague words. But if anything happens that involves me being tied to him, you must tell me immediately.]
Da Yu: [Got it!]
Jiang Chi: [Check what he did today.]
Over an hour had passed since she sent that message—there should be news by now.
Da Yu: [Checked. He just filmed an advertisement today and then went home to rest.]
Jiang Chi: [Thanks.]
Just as she had thought, Su Jing wouldn’t go around talking about anything that embarrassed him. With that in mind, she didn’t need to worry about Su Jing saying something unnecessary to Wen Wen.
Besides, even if Su Jing were willing to talk, given Wen Wen’s personality, she probably wouldn’t want to listen…
Wait—Wen Wen still liked Su Jing right now!
With that layer of affection as a filter, even nonsense would sound like profound wisdom to her…
If Su Jing wasn’t making any moves, then what had changed Wen Wen’s mind about marriage?
Jiang Chi thought carefully, could the problem lie with her!?
During the show, Wen Wen had been watching from the most conspicuous spot while Jiang Chi interacted with Su Jing.
So, had Wen Wen picked up on her intention to break up and seen it as her own opportunity?
Jiang Chi irritably ruffled her hair.
What did Wen Wen even see in him?
Surely she wasn’t as shallow as Jiang Chi used to be, only liking him for his face?
No, Wen Wen definitely wasn’t that superficial, she wouldn’t judge someone just by looks!
Knock knock.
Just as Jiang Chi was rolling around on the large bed, gripping her hair, the door suddenly sounded with two knocks.
Jiang Chi sprang up like a carp leaping out of water and saw Wen Wen standing at the door with a meaningful expression. Surprised, she asked, “You… why are you up?”
Wen Wen raised the cup in her hand, indicating she had come out to get water.
“And you—what are you doing?”
“Me?” Jiang Chi grabbed her phone from where it had been tossed aside and waved it. “Just playing a game. Failed a level, so I’m a little frustrated.”
Wen Wen stared at her silently. Just as Jiang Chi was about to jump up from the bed in frustration, Wen Wen spoke first: “Mm, as long as you’re okay. Keep playing.”
Jiang Chi wiped nonexistent sweat from her forehead and flopped back onto the bed with a sigh. Wen Wen’s gaze was too sharp being stared at like that made her feel completely exposed.
So, it wouldn’t be surprising if Wen Wen had already noticed she wanted to break up with Su Jing…
There was no other way, she could only deal with things as they came. In any case, she absolutely wouldn’t give Su Jing any chance to lay a finger on Wen Wen, that delicate flower!
A breeze lifted a corner of the sheer curtains by the floor-to-ceiling window. Without her noticing, the sunlight had gradually shifted westward, casting a warm golden glow across the living room.
Jiang Chi set down the walnut cracker in her hand, stretched with a long yawn, and glanced toward the still-closed study door.
She stood up, moving around aimlessly as she stretched her limbs. After wandering through all the rooms, she eventually found herself in front of a closed door at the very end of the hallway, tucked around a corner.
Had she not been wandering without purpose, Jiang Chi might never have noticed this room at all.
What’s more, as she had walked through the house earlier, every door except the one to Wen Wen’s study had been left open.
But this one was shut tight.
Her curiosity piqued, Jiang Chi reached for the doorknob. Just as she was about to push it open, a sharp voice called out from behind her.
“Jiang Chi!”
