Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 18.4
Two simple words, yet for some reason, Jiang Chi distinctly felt her heart skip a beat.
“Is there something you need?” Wen Wen glanced toward the director’s room, her meaning clear.
Suppressing the flutter in her chest, Jiang Chi smiled. “No, nothing. Let’s go. We shouldn’t keep everyone waiting.”
Wen Wen didn’t move, her gaze fixed on Jiang Chi. “You’ve been acting strange since yesterday.”
Memories of yesterday’s two stolen moments sparked by Wen Wen flashed abruptly in Jiang Chi’s mind.
No imagining allowed!
Jiang Chi dug her nails into her palm, snapping herself back to reality. She looped her arm through Wen Wen’s, her voice sweet and soft. “My dear sister, I’m really fine. Believe me, if I’m lying, I’m a puppy!”
She raised her hand solemnly to her temple, her dark eyes sparkling.
Wen Wen looked at her and thought to herself, You already are my puppy, mine alone.
Seeing that Wen Wen wasn’t going to say more, Jiang Chi tugged her along cheerfully. “Come on! Another day fighting side by side with my sister!”
Wen Wen smirked.
The production team took everyone to a large skatepark, fully equipped with features catering to beginners, intermediates, and advanced skaters alike even capable of hosting world-class competitions.
The moment they entered, the guests were awed by the vast, impressive venue. They gathered in an open area in front of a skateboarding wall.
Director Xu announced, “By now, I’m sure you’ve guessed today’s task involves skateboarding.”
“Your mission this morning is to learn four skateboarding tricks.”
“The first one: carving, turning while riding.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of wheels rolling and scraping against the ground echoed through the space. The guests turned toward the noise to see two men dressed in all-black casual wear, riding skateboards in an “S” pattern toward them. They executed a cool side-brake to stop smoothly, then flipped their boards up into their hands and nodded at the guests in greeting.
Director Xu: “This is our skateboarding coach here.”
The guests applauded in welcome.
Wen Wen glanced at Jiang Chi beside her, noticing her sparkling eyes fixed on the coach who had just appeared. She looked eager and ready to try, unchanged as always. Whenever something piqued her interest, that same longing expression would surface.
“The second move: Tic-Tac, turning slide.”
Two male skaters demonstrated the same trick.
“The third move: Ollie, the jump.”
This time, there was no immediate sound of wheels scraping against the ground. Instead, several staff members came out together to place obstacles along the route before quickly retreating. Only then did the sound of skateboard wheels grinding against the pavement echo through the air.
Dressed similarly in casual black, he confidently rode his skateboard toward the obstacles. Bending his front knee and shifting his weight forward, he effortlessly soared over the barriers.
Clearing one obstacle after another, he came to a stop in front of the guests with a gust of wind.
Director Xu introduced this coach as well and soon announced the next move: “The fourth trick, Shuvit.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of a skateboard rolled in again. But this time, it wasn’t a guy, it was a girl. She wore the same casual black sportswear, her long hair tied high at the back, swaying in the wind. She smoothly and naturally replicated all the moves the previous coach had demonstrated, navigating through the obstacles with ease. Just before reaching the guests, she executed the fourth trick she was meant to showcase, finishing with a sharp side brake that brought her to a halt right in front of Jiang Chi.
Jiang Chi’s already bright eyes sparkled even more as she clapped enthusiastically, her face full of admiration. “So cool!”
With a light tap, the skateboard’s nose lifted, and the female coach effortlessly caught it in her hand. Leaning slightly toward Jiang Chi, she smirked and asked, “Want to learn?”
Jiang Chi nodded eagerly, genuinely interested. “Yes!”
The coach replied, “Then later, I’ll teach.”
Before she could finish the word “you,” a pale, almost glowing hand slid between them, pressing against Jiang Chi’s collarbone to push her back. A calm yet firm voice followed: “She doesn’t need you to teach her. I’ll handle it.”
The words weren’t loud, but everyone present heard them and they carried an inexplicable authority.
The female coach eyed Wen Wen skeptically, letting out a dismissive chuckle. “Miss Wen, your acting is excellent, but professional matters should be left to professionals. After all, this involves a certain level of risk.”
Director Xu chimed in, “Coach Li is right. Let me introduce everyone this is the head coach here, Coach Li. Give her a round of applause~”
The guests obliged, clapping politely.
Amid the applause, Coach Li stepped forward, standing in front of the other five coaches.
Once the room quieted down, before Director Xu could speak, a composed voice cut in: “Coach Li is absolutely righ, professional matters should be handled by professionals. In that case, how about I take a run and let Coach Li judge whether I’m qualified enough?”
Jiang Chi stared at Wen Wen in shock, grabbing her arm in concern. “Sis, what are you doing? This is dangerous!”
Wen Wen met her gaze, her eyes filled with determination. “Just watch me.”
Then, she turned her attention to Coach Li across from her.
Coach Li shrugged slightly. “No problem, as long as your show allows it.”
All eyes immediately shifted to Director Xu, who answered without hesitation, “Of course, absolutely!”
A live showcase of Actress Wen’s skateboarding skills? If they promoted this, the ratings would skyrocket!
Wen Wen asked, “We can pick any of the skateboards here, right?”
Before anyone could respond, a male voice suddenly interjected, “Miss Wen, how about a little competition?”
Wen Wen hadn’t originally planned to compete with him. Just as she was about to refuse, her arm was tugged again by the person beside her. Jiang Chi leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Sis, don’t compete with him. He’s really good, he was on the university team and even represented the school in many competitions, winning championships.”
Praising another woman as handsome in front of her, and now complimenting another man right before her eyes…
Wen Wen’s gaze flickered. Instead of answering the question, she leaned in and whispered, “So, is this why you fell for him?”
The question caught Jiang Chi off guard. After a brief recollection, she realized it was indeed the case. Back then, her roommate had dragged her to the university skatepark, where she’d been instantly smitten by Su Jing performing all sorts of dazzling, high-difficulty tricks in the bowl not to mention how incredibly handsome he was. From that moment, her infatuation spiraled out of control.
But now, she just thought her past self had been out of her mind. She mumbled vaguely, “I don’t remember.”
Wen Wen’s eyes lingered on her face, catching every subtle expression before concluding, “Seems like it was.”
“Remember what I just said?”
Jiang Chi blinked, clearly puzzled as she met those tender, affectionate eyes.
“I said,” Wen Wen repeated calmly, her tone carrying an undeniable firmness, “you only need to look at me. Remember, just at me.”
With that, she straightened up and turned to the man whose challenge was hidden beneath a warm smile. “What do you want to compete in?”
Su Jing cut straight to the point. “We’ll have the coach here as the judge. If I win, we switch partners on the spot.”
Before Wen Wen could respond, Jiang Chi clung to her arm, as if every cell in her body was rejecting the idea. “No! Sis, I don’t want to partner with him!”
“You don’t believe in me?”
Wen Wen had never intended to treat Jiang Chi as a bargaining chip, to be swapped around like some object. But Jiang Chi’s reaction made it seem as though she was certain to lose.
An indescribable feeling settled in her chest.
Jiang Chi immediately shook her head. “No! I mean, I only want to partner with you. I don’t want to be separated from you!”
That strange mood was instantly soothed by her words. Wen Wen curved her lips into a smile. “As long as you keep your eyes on me, I’ll definitely win. Okay?”
In her view, Jiang Chi was also a participant in this match. If she disagreed, then there would be no competition.
Jiang Chi met her confident gaze, her heartbeat inexplicably quickening. She didn’t hesitate long before nodding. “Okay. I’ll only look at you. You have to win.”
Wen Wen smiled and gave her pinky a gentle squeeze before standing tall and addressing Su Jing. “Then if I win, you can never ask Jiang Chi out on a date again.”
The atmosphere grew tense as all eyes shifted between the three of them.
Su Jing’s expression faltered briefly before he regained his composure. He glanced at Jiang Chi and said meaningfully, “That depends on whether Jiang Jiang is willing, doesn’t it?”
In an instant, all attention turned to Jiang Chi except for Wen Wen’s. She stood right beside her, the closest to her, yet didn’t dare look her way. She was afraid of seeing blame in her eyes, afraid of hearing a refusal from her lips.
“I agree.”
Three simple words. Jiang Chi’s voice wasn’t particularly loud, but to Wen Wen, they rang like thunder.
Before Wen Wen could regain her composure, she felt a pair of cool hands slip around her arm, followed by a weight leaning against her shoulder. She turned her head to see Jiang Chi smiling at her, his dark, bright eyes reflecting only her figure as he declared with absolute certainty, “I’ll listen to whatever you say, sister.”
Such sweet words.
She wanted to kiss him, to entwine intimately with the lips that uttered such honeyed phrases.
Director Xu’s voice severed the surge of wild desire.
“In that case, let Wen Wen and Su Jing have a match.”
For the show, this would only boost discussion and viewership, Director Xu had no reason to refuse.
Hearing Jiang Chi’s response, Su Jing’s expression darkened. This woman had truly gone too far this time. He wouldn’t forgive her easily, but soon he convinced himself even if he couldn’t invite her, Jiang Chi would come begging to him anyway. There was no need to worry. With full confidence, he agreed, “Fine by me. There’s no way I’ll lose.”
His competitive spirit had been thoroughly roused.
“How should we compete?”
Wen Wen’s gaze shifted to Coach Li. “Let Coach Li decide the challenge.”
Coach Li glanced between the two participants and smirked. “I can choose anything?”
Both agreed without hesitation.
The group followed Coach Li to the largest U-shaped ramp in the venue.
“I’m not sure of your exact skill levels, so how about this: you’ll have three minutes to freestyle in this U-pool. We’ll vote based on your performance.” Coach Li’s eyes lingered on Jiang Chi before shifting to Wen Wen, his lips quirking. “Sound good?”
“No problem,” Su Jing said first.
Wen Wen nodded. “I’m fine with it.”
Coach Li: “Then each of you pick a skateboard, and let’s begin.”
There was another wall covered in skateboards near the U-pool.
Wen Wen turned to Jiang Chi, who was eyeing the skateboard wall with delight, and said, “Go pick one for me.”
Jiang Chi brightened. “Really?”
Wen Wen gave a slight nod. “Choose one you like.”
Excited, Jiang Chi hurried to the wall, pacing back and forth before finally selecting a board with a red-and-blue rose pattern. Like a child presenting a treasured toy, he handed it to Wen Wen. “Here, sister. Roses, just what you like.”
Since he’d picked her favorite, Wen Wen’s eyes darkened. Gripping the skateboard tightly, she pulled him close, leaning in to whisper by his ear, “Do you want me to win?”
Jiang Chi clasped her wrist, staring earnestly into her eyes. “You have to win.”
If they really switched partners, who knew what absurd things the plot might force her to do?
“I’m actually pretty confident, but suddenly I feel like I’m missing a winning trigger.”
Jiang Chi replied sincerely, “Whatever you need, I’ll get it for you right away.”
“Kiss me.”
Jiang Chi froze, stunned. “Now? Here?”
“Yes. Don’t dare? It’s just for the CP—”
Before Wen Wen could finish explaining, warm lips pressed against her cheek soft, lingering just a little longer than last time.
Jiang Chi stepped back, straightening up with a determined cheer. “Go for it, sister! You have to win!”
It seemed to be telling everyone that this was just a perfectly normal kiss of encouragement.
Wen Wen had originally planned to use this reasoning to convince Jiang Chi, but hearing her declare it so openly still left a slightly bitter taste in her heart.
Looking at the person before her with ears red as strawberries, she couldn’t help but curve her lips slightly. That bitterness in her heart seemed to turn sweet.
Step by step, they were making progress. And wasn’t this another step forward?
Su Jing watched their interaction, his hands unconsciously clenching into fists at his sides. Was this woman really not taking him seriously at all? Being so intimate with someone else right in front of him! It seemed he needed to find time to tell Wen Wen exactly what his relationship with Jiang Chi was!
A flash of annoyance crossed his face as he called out, “Jiang Jiang, pick out a skateboard for me too.”
“I think if you choose it for me, I’ll feel more confident.”
Wen Wen was about to say, “Why should my CP pick for you?” when Jiang Chi beat her to it: “You lack that much confidence? Maybe you should just forfeit now.”
Her words were sharp, dripping with provocation. Su Jing’s expression shifted several times before he finally burst into laughter.
The onlookers turned to him in confusion, only to hear him say with feigned helplessness and affection, “Jiang Jiang, your reverse psychology worked. I’ll do my best.”
With that, he walked over to the skateboard wall to make his selection.
Behind the cameras, two female staff members exchanged glances, their eyes conveying the same thought: Is there something wrong with this guy’s brain?
Jiang Chi was equally incredulous. What kind of bizarre creature had she liked before?
Coach Li blew her whistle, and two figures slid into the bowl simultaneously.
Su Jing skated back and forth in the bowl to get a feel for it, soon performing the high-difficulty move that had won him competitions, the 360 Aerial.
As expected, cheers and applause erupted from beside the U-pool when he finished. He slid back to the bottom of the bowl and looked toward the edge, only to find no one was watching him everyone’s eyes were on Wen Wen.
He didn’t know what move Wen Wen had just performed, but in the next moment, she executed a high-difficulty trick he had practiced for ages but never mastered, the Frontside 180 Heelflip.
Another round of cheers and applause followed.
Not stopping there, after landing and skating a couple more passes, Wen Wen performed yet another advanced move, the McTwist. Her slender, graceful body spun one and a half rotations in the air before she grabbed her board and landed perfectly and safely back in the bowl.
The cheers were nearly loud enough to lift the roof off the venue, with two coaches even jumping up and down in excitement.
At this moment, even Coach Li had to admit, she didn’t know about other events, but when it came to the U-pool, Wen Wen was more than a level above her.
She glanced at Jiang Chi and saw admiration practically pouring from her eyes.
Coach Li shook her head. Wrong event choice.
Her timer beeped twice, and she blew her whistle.
Three minutes were up.
Wen Wen jumped onto the edge of the pool as she skated by. The moment she steadied herself, a figure rushed forward and swept her up in a spinning hug: “Sis, you were so cool!”
After spinning around twice, Jiang Chi gently set her down on the ground, his face full of admiration. “Sis, you’ve completely dazzled me!”
Wen Wen curved her lips slightly. “Was it worth it to keep your eyes only on me?”
Jiang Chi shook his head so vigorously it could have rivaled a spinning drum. “Absolutely worth it! It was a feast for the eyes!”
Wen Wen turned and glanced at the man still standing on his skateboard at the bottom of the pool, raising a challenging eyebrow.
Coach Li crossed his arms as he looked down. “I think the winner is clear. The other contestant was so thoroughly convinced, they even forgot this was a competition.”
Su Jing seemed to snap out of a daze, clenched his fist briefly, and quickly skated back to solid ground.
Director Xu announced, “Thank you, Wen Wen and Su Jing, for such an exciting match. Now, for the rest of the morning, all our guests will need to master the four moves I introduced earlier. The specific tasks will be announced this afternoon.”
“The production team has specially arranged six coaches for one-on-one instruction to ensure better learning. Good luck, everyone.”
Coach Li approached Jiang Chi. “Miss Jiang, I’ll be teaching you.”
Wen Wen immediately stepped in front of her with a faint smile. “Coach Li, I believe this matter was already settled earlier. She, I’ll be the one teaching her.”
“I don’t think you have the authority to decide for Miss Jiang, do you?” Coach Li smiled lightly, tilting his head toward Jiang Chi. “Miss Jiang, why don’t you choose? Who would you like to teach you skateboarding?”
Before Jiang Chi could answer, Coach Li sighed and added, “To be honest, I really value the opportunity the show has given me. If I don’t get to fulfill my role, my pay for today will go down the drain.”
The pitiful plea was delivered just right.
Jiang Chi swallowed the immediate refusal she had been about to voice and replied without hesitation, “Don’t worry, I’ll explain the situation to the director later. You’ll get your full pay, no less. As for learning skateboarding, ” She rested her chin on Wen Wen’s shoulder and playfully winked at Coach Li. “I’ll stick with sis teaching me.”
Coach Li shook his head in disappointment, his gaze lingering on her meaningfully. “As I thought. You really are… quite interesting.”
“Still,” he pressed, “being good at tricks doesn’t necessarily mean you can assemble a board. Director Xu wants the coaches to start by teaching you how to put a skateboard together. How about letting me handle that part?”
Before he could finish, Wen Wen cut in, “No need. I can handle that too.”
Coach Li narrowed his eyes at Wen Wen, his lips curling into a lukewarm smirk. “Miss Wen, you really are… versatile, aren’t you?”
Wen Wen mirrored his faint smile. “Thanks for the compliment.”
The two stood in a silent standoff, the once-casual atmosphere growing tense and charged.
Though it felt like an eternity, only a few seconds passed before Coach Li shrugged slightly and winked at Jiang Chi. “Miss Jiang, till we meet again.”
He waved goodbye while walking backward.
Before Jiang Chi could fully raise her hand in response, a pale hand reached out and pressed it back down. Truthfully, she had sensed something off about the earlier confrontation, she had only meant to test the waters, but Wen Wen’s reaction was even more intense than she expected. Suppressing a smirk, she leaned in closer. “Sis… are you, by any chance, jealous?”
