Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 18.3
Su Jing’s method was simple: “I’ll draw Jiang Chi out, then you approach Wen Wen. Use your skills to get her to accept your date invitation.”
“You’re that confident you can get Jiang Chi to come out?” Ji Mei’s tone dripped with skepticism.
Su Jing brimmed with confidence: “Don’t you go online? Women they just like playing little games to get the attention of someone they like. I know all about it.”
A flash of mockery crossed Ji Mei’s lips. The dim lighting in the corner hid her expression from Su Jing. Without further comment, she nodded: “Fine. Once you’ve got her out, I’ll go find Sister Wen.”
“Looking forward to your good news.”
With that, Ji Mei left first.
Emerging from the corner, Su Jing returned to the shared house. After a glance at Ji Mei fiddling with a Rubik’s cube on the sofa, he headed upstairs.
In the room, Jiang Chi hugged a pillow, stubbornly standing face-to-face with Wen Wen.
Compared to Jiang Chi’s defiant expression, Wen Wen appeared completely composed, even wearing a faint smile, the look of someone watching their pet throw a tantrum.
In truth, this standoff between them had already lasted over ten minutes.
Jiang Chi tightened her grip on the pillow, refusing to back down: “I don’t care. I want to sleep with you.”
Wen Wen’s tone was calm but brooked no argument: “No.”
Jiang Chi couldn’t understand: “Why not?!”
They’d already gone several rounds over this issue, with Wen Wen’s answer remaining the same simple refusal each time.
In Jiang Chi’s eyes, two close friends of the same gender sharing a bed was a sign of deepening intimacy. Since Wen Wen had repeatedly indulged her before, why was this the one thing she couldn’t allow? It wasn’t like it was some earth-shattering matter!
She had tried every trick in the book acting cute, playing the victim, even being shamelessly stubborn but this time, Wen Wen wouldn’t budge no matter what. She remained unmoved and refused to give in.
And she wouldn’t even tell Jiang Chi why it wasn’t allowed! She wouldn’t even let her sit on the bed anymore!
“I don’t care, sister, you have to give me a reason. Otherwise, I’ll be so worried tonight that I won’t be able to sleep! Sister, have some pity on me~”
Her head rested on the pillow, her dark, bright eyes shimmering with unshed tears, looking pitifully at Wen Wen.
Wen Wen’s expression remained unchanged, but her heart was bitter as coptis.
She also wished Jiang Chi would have some pity on her.
Sharing the same bed, how could she restrain herself?
She admitted she was no saint; she couldn’t remain composed with the one she loved in her arms.
Ever since realizing her feelings, she hadn’t stopped wanting to claim Jiang Chi as her own for even a moment.
Wen Wen sighed silently, her fingers tightly twisting in her palm, warning herself not to soften. Now was not the time to lose control.
After a moment of deliberation, she offered a reason: “Sleeping with me is dangerous.”
She thought this reason was tactful enough and might make Jiang Chi more cautious.
“Dangerous?” Jiang Chi still didn’t understand. “Do you move around a lot in your sleep?”
Wen Wen: “…”
Let it be that way.
Jiang Chi pinched her chin and studied her. “Sister, you look… like the type who stays in one position all night. Are you lying to me?”
Wen Wen: “I don’t lie.”
She wasn’t worried at all. If Jiang Chi insisted on watching her sleep to verify, she wouldn’t be able to fall asleep under such scrutiny anyway. At worst, she could just exaggerate a few movements for show.
Just as Jiang Chi was about to speak, a knock at the door interrupted her.
“Again? Sister, is our room some kind of tourist attraction? Everyone has to knock at least once.” Before this, two others, Bai Yuetong and Jin Jinyi, had already come by. The thought made her frown even deeper.
Wen Wen had already chosen her! Why couldn’t these people just give up?
Suddenly, a cool hand pressed against her furrowed brow. Jiang Chi looked up to see Wen Wen gazing at her with gentle certainty. “Don’t frown. No matter how many people come, my decision won’t change. Understand? Hmm?”
See? Wen Wen was always willing to indulge her, to coax her so why wouldn’t she let them share a bed?
Jiang Chipulled her hand down, turned it palm-up, and rested her chin on it, nuzzling lightly as she looked at Wen Wen with pitiful eyes. “Sister, let me sleep with you. I’m super well-behaved in bed. Even if you move around, it’s fine, I can hold you while you sleep. Maybe I can even help improve your sleeping posture!”
Her pinky twitched uncontrollably, tapping against Jiang Chi’s chin. Wen Wen reflexively pulled her hand back and cupped Jiang Chi’s face to check. “Did it hurt?”
Wen Wen’s concern was written plainly on her face. Jiang Chi paused she hadn’t felt even the slightest pain. If anything, the touch had been like scratching a cat, and it had felt rather nice.
Jiang Chi knew she should say she was fine immediately, to keep Wen Wen from worrying.
But she wrinkled her nose, pouted, and whined pitifully, “Sister, it hurts so much. If you don’t let me sleep with you tonight, I might die from the pain in the middle of the night.”
Wen Wen couldn’t help but laugh. “That exaggerated?”
Seeing a chance, Jiang Chi pressed on. “Not exaggerated at all. Every word is true.”
She would die without Wen Wen.
“Sister, I’m in so much pain. If you don’t watch over me, what if I really die in the middle of the night?”
Just then, knocking sounded at the door again.
Interrupting them once more!
Couldn’t they leave if no one answered?
Where were their manners?
Jiang Chi’s impatience was written all over her face as she huffed and moved to open the door, then suddenly remembered something. She turned back to grab Wen Wen’s wrist, pulling her along toward the entrance.
Wen Wen looked at their joined hands, the corners of her lips curling up slightly. Though she didn’t understand why Jiang Chi always insisted they answer the door together, it didn’t matter, she enjoyed these brief moments of contact.
Jiang Chi glanced back. “Sister, you can’t speak more than two sentences to whoever’s outside.”
She instinctively assumed the visitor was here for Wen Wen, given there were precedents more than one, in fact.
Wen Wen chuckled. “So domineering?”
Jiang Chi “hmph”-ed and turned her head away, presenting Wen Wen with a proud, sulky back view. “I don’t care.”
You’re the one who spoiled me, so you’ll have to put up with it.
But this thought remained safely in her mind, she didn’t dare say it aloud yet.
Of the three people who had asked Wen Wen out tonight, two had already come by. Only the most troublesome and persistent one remained Ji Mei. When the door opened, however, Jiang Chi was surprised to find Su Jing standing there instead.
Su Jing wore his usual wounded, lovesick expression, his voice melancholy and yearning. “Jiang Jiang, can we talk?”
“If this is about the date,” Jiang Chi said flatly, not even bothering with an expression, “I believe I’ve made myself perfectly clear earlier. I wasn’t joking.”
“We’re all adults here. I assume everyone has basic comprehension skills.”
Su Jing didn’t react much to this, only slightly furrowing his brows, pressing his lips together, and staring intently at her.
Others might not recognize it, but Jiang Chi knew exactly what this expression meant.
This was Su Jing’s classic “calm before the storm” look. If Jiang Chi continued being unreasonable now, Su Jing would get angry or worse, suggest breaking up.
The old Jiang Chi would have immediately backed down, making a fuss to beg for forgiveness, acting cute to cheer him up.
After all, the old her had valued Su Jing more than her own life and would never have agreed to a breakup.
But now? She almost wished Su Jing would say the words.
She’d agree without hesitation.
They could just edit that part out later.
What worried her was Wen Wen. If they really broke up, would Wen Wen immediately let go of her and throw herself into Su Jing’s arms?
If that happened, she’d truly be… completely finished.
Unconsciously, her grip on Wen Wen’s hand tightened.
Wen Wen glanced at the indented flesh where their hands joined, then looked questioningly at the slender, tall figure in front of her.
Seeing no response, Su Jing’s eyes darkened as he addressed Wen Wen inside. “Miss Wen, could you give us some privacy?”
Wen Wen narrowed her eyes slightly, twisted her wrist to grasp the hand holding hers, and stepped forward effectively pulling Jiang Chi into a protective embrace.
She was slightly shorter than Jiang Chi, just enough for her chin to rest naturally on Jiang Chi’s shoulder, her posture as if whispering into her ear, yet her voice just loud enough for all three to hear clearly: “CP darling, he seems to be asking for my opinion. Do I even have the right to answer him?”
Though the words were directed at Jiang Chi, her gaze was fixed intently on the man before them.
The warm breath against her ear felt like setting fire to that patch of skin, the flames burning all the way to her heart. JiangChi couldn’t suppress a tremble in her chest.
Seeing no response, Wen Wen feigned a sigh, her tone laced with mock regret: “Sorry, it seems I don’t have the right to answer your question.”
With that, she made to release her hold, straightening up to step back.
“No,” Jiang Chi snapped out of her daze, grabbing Wen Wen’s hand and pulling her back firmly. “You do have the right. You don’t need my permission.”
Miscalculating her strength, Jiang Chi’s tug sent Wen Wen crashing into her back. What had been a slight gap between them, just Wen Wen’s head resting on Jiang Chi’s shoulder now left them pressed flush against each other.
If not for their hands being clasped, it would have looked like a full embrace from behind.
Wen Wen smirked to herself, tilting her head closer to Jiang Chi’s cheek while leisurely draping her other arm around her waist. Lifting her eyes to the man standing like a wooden post before them, she drawled lazily, “Since I have the right, my answer is no.”
“Mr. Su, please return to wherever you came from. Her tone was icy, her usually alluring eyes now brimming with provocation.
Jiang Chi nodded in agreement.
Su Jing’s gaze swept over them with unreadable intent before he frowned. “Jiang Jiang, do you remember how many times I’ve invited you?” Pausing briefly, he answered his own question, “Twice. I won’t give up next time either.”
With those words, he shot Jiang Chi a meaningful look and turned to leave.
Others might not grasp the implication, but Jiang Chi knew, he was reminding her: three strikes and you’re out.
Su Jing had always been like this. If he messed up, he’d make amends, but never beyond three attempts. If Jiang Chi remained indifferent by the third time, it meant an unspoken breakup.
Jiang Chi’s eyes suddenly brightened. How had she forgotten this rule?
It was Su Jing’s own decree. Back then, she’d thrown tantrums over it, but now it seemed this rule could save her the trouble.
All she had to do was ignore his next invitation.
Then they’d be unofficially broken up!
But… would Wen Wen…?
Her expression grew increasingly solemn despite herself.
Noticing the shift, Wen Wen gave her waist a light pinch. “What? Regretting it already?”
Jiang Chi was ticklish there too. The touch made her reflexively grab the hand at her waist as she tilted her head slightly with a smile. “Don’t tease me, jiejie.”
The cool, sandalwood scent.
Pressed this close, with no space between them, Jiang Chi could clearly catch the fragrance Wen Wen wore.
Exactly how she’d imagined Wen Wen would smell.
So intoxicating.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Jiang Chi felt the urge to replay the “accident” from the car.
She wanted to turn fully, let her lips brush Wen Wen’s cheek, anywhere would do. She wanted to touch Wen Wen.
The thought was like a small flame cast into the wilderness. Though tiny, it stirred every cell in her body. Every point of contact with Wen Wen felt as if it were being scorched by raging fire, each sensation unbearably vivid especially the softness pressed against her back.
The fire quickly spread to every part of her body, igniting her in an instant.
The same feeling as this afternoon!
Alarm bells blared in Jiang Chi’s mind.
She didn’t understand why, but instinctively, she broke free from Wen Wen’s embrace, putting distance between them.
The sudden emptiness in her arms left Wen Wen momentarily dazed.
Wen Wen had always been alluring, cool-headed, rational, and composed but this bewildered, adorable expression was something Jiang Chi had never seen before. The reaction in her body only grew more intense.
Jiang Chi crossed her arms defensively, forcing a smile. “Sis, it’s getting late. We should rest.”
Wen Wen studied her guarded posture but didn’t retreat to her room. Instead, she leaned leisurely against the doorframe, intrigued, and spoke slowly, “You’re acting a little strange today.”
“Am I? Not at all.” Jiang Chi stepped forward, grabbed her shoulders, and turned her around, pushing her toward the bedroom. “It’s already past ten. Who knows what tasks we’ll have tomorrow? Let’s get some rest.”
Once she had Wen Wen by the bed, Jiang Chi immediately darted to the wardrobe, grabbed her pajamas, and dashed into the bathroom, locking the door with a sharp click.
Her movements were so swift Wen Wen barely registered them. After a moment of stunned silence, Wen Wen walked over and knocked. “What’s wrong? Stomachache?”
Jiang Chi panted as if she’d just run a marathon, taking deep breaths before replying, “I’m washing up.”
“Why?”
She had just said earlier that she’d showered in the afternoon and wouldn’t wash tonight.
Jiang Chi didn’t want to either, but she was acutely aware of the abnormality in her body, more intense than the sensation from this afternoon.
“Just remembered I can’t sleep without a shower before bed. You go ahead and rest, don’t worry about me.”
Wen Wen pressed, “What’s really going on with you?”
“I’ve been with you the whole time. What could be wrong? I just want to shower. Please, sis, just let it go and get some rest.”
Her tone was as if coaxing a child.
Jiang Chi braced herself against the sink, staring at her reflection in the mirror, exhaling heavily.
So pathetic.
She took two steps back, scrutinizing her body in the mirror.
What the hell was wrong with her?
Had her desires always been this overwhelming?
How could mere imagination reduce her to such a state?
And all because of Wen Wen!
Why did Wen Wen’s touch leave her so helplessly aroused?
Wen Wen was a girl!
If Wen Wen found out, forget being friends, she’d definitely label Jiang Chi, a pervert!
Stop it!
No more imagining!
Jiang Chi turned on the shower. Warm steam quickly filled the bathroom, water cascading over her body. She tried desperately not to think of Wen Wen, but the harder she fought, the more futile it became. Amid the rushing water, a damp, soft apology escaped her lips: “Sis, I’m sorry.”
Before this, Jiang Chi had considered throwing caution to the wind and climbing into Wen Wen’s bed.
But afterward, she stepped out of the bathroom and went straight to her own bed, not even glancing toward Wen Wen’s side.
As if nothing had happened at all.
The next day, the remaining four guests didn’t form teams through drawing lots. According to Director Xu’s introduction, Su Jing and Ji Mei voluntarily paired up as a CP, while Bai Yue Tong and Jin Jinyi also chose to team up together.
After breakfast, the guests gradually left the Heartbeat Cottage. Jiang Chi was slightly slower and detoured into the director’s room: “Were they really all voluntarily paired up like this today?”
Director Xu: “Honest as the day is long.”
Jiang Chi: “And their companies aren’t intervening with Ji Mei and Jin Jinyi’s current situation? Weren’t they supposed to be strictly paired when they were sent here?”
Director Xu: “Their companies’ stance now is that as long as there’s buzz, whether they’re paired or not doesn’t matter.”
Jiang Chi pondered for a moment before instructing: “I don’t care about the rest, but try to have Su Jing and Bai Yue Tong team up together in the future.”
“Eh?” Director Xu’s expression showed genuine confusion.
He knew that Su Jing was Jiang Chi’s boyfriend, and the two were planning to officially announce their relationship through this show.
He had originally thought Jiang Chi’s earlier instruction to abandon the original script was due to some lovers’ quarrel, but now it seemed she was planning to give him up?
Just as Director Xu was about to speak, Jiang Chi cut him off: “Just do as I say. You don’t need to consider anything else.”
Director Xu understood that by “anything else,” Jiang Chi meant explanations to higher-ups.
Before he could respond, a knock interrupted them. A staff member opened the door hesitantly: “Director, someone outside says Bai Yue Tong’s mother is here looking for her.”
Jiang Chi: “I’ll take my leave then.”
As she headed for the door, a woman pushed past the staff member and barged in. The woman had streaks of white at her temples, wearing a faded red cheongsam with sagging belly fat, though her face still bore traces of former beauty.
Jiang Chi glanced at her – this must be Bai Yue Tong’s mother.
Apparently Bai Yue Tong didn’t take after her mother.
As they passed each other, Jiang Chi’s hand was suddenly grabbed. Startled, she turned to see Bai Yue Tong’s mother gazing at her with affectionate admiration: “You must be Jiang Chi. So beautiful, even more stunning than on TV.”
Staff immediately intervened to separate them.
Jiang Chi examined her reddened arm but, unlike her usual spoiled manner, simply rubbed it politely and nodded: “Thank you for the compliment.”
Exiting the director’s room, Jiang Chi spotted Wen Wen still sitting on the sofa. Before departure, the director had reminded guests to dress casually for today’s sports-related activities.
Wen Wen wore a milk coffee-colored sporty outfit – a fitted color-blocked cropped short-sleeve top with matching shorts. Noticing Jiang Chi’s gaze, she stood up, fully displaying her graceful figure. The clever design perfectly accentuated her waist-to-hip ratio, forming a flawless “S” curve.
Jiang Chi stared unblinkingly as Wen Wen approached, even forgetting to rub her sore arm.
Seeing Jiang Chi’s complete attention, Wen Wen secretly smiled in satisfaction – her outfit selection hadn’t been in vain. But the expression lasted only a moment.
Approaching Jiang Chi, she had intended to tease her with a playful remark, but her gaze dropped to the glaring red marks on Jiang Chi’s arm. Immediately lifting her wrist, Wen Wen frowned, “What happened here?”
Jiang Chi snapped out of her daze and withdrew her arm. “It’s nothing. Just ran into an overexcited fan backstage who got a little carried away. That’s all.” She shrugged slightly, indifferent. In her eyes, Bai Yue Tong’s mother had simply been an overenthusiastic fan meeting her idol.
“Hmm.” Wen Wen didn’t dispute her explanation but instead took Jiang Chi’s hand in her palm, gently massaging it. “Does it hurt?”
Wen Wen’s hands were warm, and with her own hand cradled in them, Jiang Chi felt as if she were being roasted over a fire. If this continued, more than just her arm would turn red. She pulled her hand back again. “It doesn’t hurt. It just looks worse than it is.”
Seeing her reaction, Wen Wen didn’t press further. Both of them had fair, delicate skin where even the slightest bump left noticeable, angry-looking marks, though the injuries were never serious.
“But,” Jiang Chi eyed her suspiciously, “why haven’t you left yet?”
The production team hadn’t announced today’s specific tasks yet, only revealing that all guests would be heading to the same location. By now, the other guests and crew should have already prepared to depart, leaving only the two of them in the living room.
Wen Wen casually replied with two words: “Waiting for you.”
