Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 14
“Want to win?”
Jiang Chi nodded eagerly, her eyes sparkling like stars, brimming with anticipation.
Wen Wen narrowed her eyes slightly. “Give me a reason.”
Jiang Chi blurted out, “I’m afraid someone else will take you away!”
The moment those words left her mouth, the room instantly filled with sharp intakes of breath.
The staff members exchanged glances: So direct!
The other guests, however, wore varied expressions.
Ji Mei was filled with disdain: Tch, just like me trying to cling to Wen Wen for clout.
But she couldn’t understand. Everyone online knew the two were sworn rivals, constantly undermining each other both openly and behind the scenes. So why were they acting so… intimate on the show?
The real question was Wen Wen’s behavior. Why was she so… indulgent toward her love rival?
From what had just happened, it was clear they were still competing.
And the reason for their rivalry, as the internet claimed, was that man, Su Jing.
Ji Mei couldn’t help but scrutinize Su Jing again. She truly couldn’t see what was so great about him, he looked like the type of pretty boy who lived off women.
Bai Yuetong, meanwhile, glanced at Su Jing in confusion. Though his expression was well-controlled, for a brief moment, he clearly showed the same bewilderment and shock she felt.
Su Jing’s emotions slipped for just a second before he quickly composed himself, pushing aside the growing unease he couldn’t ignore. He leaned back casually against the sofa, feigning disappointment. “I never expected Miss Jiang to be so… fickle. Just moments ago, you declared you liked me and were determined to win me over. And now, you’ve already… changed your taste?”
Jiang Chi pondered for half a second before asking, “Oh? So do you have any interest in me?”
Su Jing nodded without hesitation, his smile bright. “Naturally. If I disliked someone, I wouldn’t allow them to… linger around me for so long.”
As he spoke, his gaze drifted toward Wen Wen for a few seconds, carrying unmistakable smugness as if those words were meant specifically for her.
Jiang Chi felt her stomach churn. She forced a polite smile and replied flatly, “Is that so? Well, this morning, I saw Teacher Wen Wen’s car and ran out to greet her. Then I noticed you stepping out first, Teacher Su. It felt rude not to say hello…”
At those words, a flicker of shock passed through Wen Wen’s eyes, though she quickly masked it. She raised a brow slightly, turning her gaze to Su Jing.
Their eyes met in midair, sparking with palpable tension.
Su Jing’s relaxed posture stiffened slightly, though he maintained his gentlemanly demeanor. “So what you’re saying is… you no longer like me?”
“Of course I still like you,” Jiang Chi clarified. “I like both of you, just in different ways.”
She didn’t dare speak too definitively. Even though Wen Wen was right beside her, seemingly indulging her every whim, she couldn’t be certain of anything. To her, Wen Wen was like a dazzling flower shrouded in mist visible, yet indistinct.
Most importantly, there was still the towering obstacle between them: Su Jing.
Why did Wen Wen have to like Su Jing of all people? She was terrified Wen Wen might turn on her at any moment because of that worthless man…
Hearing this, Ji Mei let out a cold scoff as if she’d heard the biggest joke: “You like Sister Wen? Spouting nonsense comes so easily to you doesn’t the whole internet know you two are sworn rivals?” Her meaningful glance at Su Jing made the implication crystal clear.
“So what?” Jiang Chi wasn’t provoked in the slightest, instead flashing a bold smile. “This is the perfect chance to get reacquainted and become closer.”
Director Xu smoothly moved things along: “Only Jiang Chi and Wen Wen remain undefeated. We’ll switch up the game you’ll take turns trying to make each other laugh. Whoever succeeds first wins. Do you both agree?”
Wen Wen declined flatly: “No.”
Her mind was still stuck on Jiang Chi’s words, “a different kind of liking.”
It truly was different. How could she ever receive the same affection Jiang Chi showered upon Su Jing?
She had no mental bandwidth left to think about making Jiang Chi laugh. She doubted she could muster a smile herself anytime soon. Letting things unfold naturally was fine, no need to force changes.
Seeing her refusal, Jiang Chi grew anxious. Tugging at Wen Wen’s arm, she cooed, “Come on, sis~ I want to see you smile because of me~”
For over twenty years twenty-one to be exact, since they met at age four, Wen Wen had never been able to resist Jiang Chi’s coquettish pleading.
If there were two things in this world she was utterly powerless against:
First was Jiang Chi herself.
Second was Jiang Chi’s coquettishness.
Only Wen Wen knew how those twisted urges would surge uncontrollably whenever Jiang Chi acted spoiled with her:
Seize her, lock her away, make her laugh and cry for you alone.
But no.
Without fail, that warped mentality would yield to reason, and Wen Wen’s resolve would soften even further toward Jiang Chi.
If she didn’t relent, rationality would be devoured by those twisted thoughts, leading to reckless, transgressive actions.
After a long stare, Wen Wen suppressed the ache in her chest and nodded agreement.
Director Xu: “Thirty seconds each then. Who wants to go first?”
“Me.” Jiang Chi raised her hand. “I’ll start.”
The director glanced questioningly at Wen Wen.
Wen Wen: “Fine.”
“Alright.” Director Xu lifted a megaphone while checking his phone timer. “Thirty-second countdown starts… now!”
The instant the words left his mouth, Jiang Chi pounced like a coiled spring, closing the distance between them in a flash.
Their faces were suddenly inches apart, noses nearly touching, breaths mingling.
Jiang Chi had planned this, Wen Wen’s usual demeanor was one of detached serenity, her expression as unchanging as still water. She had no doubt that without external stimuli, Wen Wen’s face could remain impassive for centuries.
Conventional methods would never work on Wen Wen.
Gazing up at the face hovering so close above her, Wen Wen felt her heartbeat instantly spiral into chaos like a massive boulder crashing into a placid lake.
Propped on the sofa back with elbows, she leaned away slightly, eyes widening. She wanted to speak, to ask what Jiang Chi intended, but her throat had gone desert-dry as if those lips mere centimeters away had stolen every ounce of oxygen from her mouth.
Jiang Chi looked at her dazed expression, thinking her unexpected move had indeed worked. What she wanted was to shock Wen Wen first, and then… her mischievous hand reached toward Wen Wen’s side.
Yes, the unconventional method she had come up with was tickling Wen Wen.
Before trying it, she wasn’t sure if Wen Wen was ticklish, she just wanted to test it. Perhaps the heavens were on her side, because Wen Wen burst into laughter almost the second her fingers made contact.
Jiang Chi instantly jumped up in delight, proudly declaring to Director Xu, “She laughed! I win.”
That was enough.
Jiang Chi could sense her emotions and was still willing to “cheer her up” the same way as before that was enough.
Wen Wen straightened up with a laugh, pretending to protest, “Director, isn’t this cheating?”
The moment she finished speaking, Jiang Chi shot her a pitiful look.
Wen Wen smirked. “Just teasing. You won.”
The other four guests watched their interaction with varying degrees of disbelief, as if the world consisted only of the two of them, free to play and joke around.
They all knew they were supposed to be rivals meetings between them should have been tense, ready to clash at any moment. So why was the atmosphere between them so strangely harmonious and joyful?
Su Jing watched Jiang Chi, radiant with laughter, and unconsciously clenched his fist. Jiang Chi’s emotions, they used to change only because of him.
Jiang Chi didn’t spare a glance at anyone else. She blew a kiss at Wen Wen before darting over to the cart, only to freeze in confusion the next second.
She should have coordinated a signal with Jiang Chi beforehand like telling each other what their items were, or reminding Wen Wen to choose the same room as her later.
Should she… just ask directly?
The thought lingered in her mind for two seconds before she blurted it out, “Sis, which one’s yours?”
Before Wen Wen could respond, Ji Mei questioned, “Director, is this allowed? Shouldn’t this kind of segment rely on intuition or personal preference? The whole point is the unknown, isn’t it?”
In an instant, all eyes were fixed on Director Xu.
The director coughed. “Objectively speaking, there’s no explicit rule against it. But the production team also wants to see the natural chemistry between everyone, so it’s better to choose based on intuition or preference.”
The director’s answer made Su Jing sigh in relief, but he was still puzzled. Why wasn’t Jiang Chi choosing him? This was completely different from the original script…
Jiang Chi studied the array of items in front of her, deep in thought. Based on her preferences, she would definitely pick Doraemon, her favorite anime character was the blue robot cat because she felt they were alike. Its magic pocket had everything, and she, too, could have anything she wanted.
But Su Jing knew she loved Doraemon. According to the dating show’s script, the Doraemon was likely brought by him to create the illusion that she recognized and chose it at first glance, allowing the show to market their “telepathic connection.”
She dawdled, analyzing each item one by one, before finally pointing stealthily at the fountain pen and glancing up at Wen Wen for confirmation.
Wen Wen raised a brow slightly, her gaze seeming to say, You don’t know?
Jiang Chi was baffled. Was she supposed to?
Before she could get confirmation, a voice interrupted their eye contact: “Teacher Jiang claims to like Sister Wen, yet doesn’t even know what she would prefer?”
This remark struck right at Jiang Chi’s weak spot, leaving her unable to vent her frustration even if she wanted to.
Because she truly didn’t know.
The living room suddenly fell silent.
“What I brought wasn’t something I liked.”
Wen Wen broke the silence.
She thought she’d given a clear enough hint.
What Wen Wen didn’t anticipate was that Jiang Chi was on a completely different wavelength.
Hearing Wen Wen say the item wasn’t her favorite, Jiang Chi’s first thought was that Wen Wen had brought something Su Jing would like.
Nevertheless, she still wanted to choose what Wen Wen had brought.
She chose the fountain pen.
Su Jing’s face visibly lit up Jiang Chi had chosen his pen after all. Clearly, all those boundary-crossing actions were just attempts to get his attention, and in the end, she would still choose him.
Suppressing an inexplicable guilt, Jiang Chi smiled at Wen Wen, only to find her expression unchanged, though her eyes had noticeably darkened.
Sure enough, she was unhappy.
Would Wen Wen refuse to share a room with her now because of this…
The living room grew inexplicably tense until Director Xu suddenly spoke up: “Just a reminder, tonight there’s also a phone call segment where you can invite your preferred guest for a date. However, if two people successfully choose each other’s items in this round, they’ll skip that step and automatically pair up as tomorrow’s date partners.”
“Jiang Chi has made her choice. Now please select which room you’d like to stay in.”
Jiang Chi glanced at Wen Wen, but the other woman wasn’t looking her way at all, slightly frowning as if deep in thought.
Whatever, even if Wen Wen disliked her again because of Su Jing, she should still make her choice and state her position.
“I choose the double room at the back on the second floor. And, sister, I want to stay with you~”
Her trailing tone was soft, clearly coaxing.
Wen Wen looked up, seeming to gauge how much of this was genuine and how much was pretense.
