Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 13
Jin Jinyi stood a head taller than Ji Mei, shielding her almost completely as he blocked her path.
Ji Mei placed her hand on the man’s chest before her, slowly lifting her gaze to meet his eyes, sweet yet laced with a hint of allure. “What do you think I mean?”
Jin Jinyi grabbed her wrist, his expression tense. “We came here for our new drama. Setting that aside, I’m still your official boyfriend. And you, you’re flirting with someone right in front of me?”
Her sweet smile gradually turned icy. Ji Mei crossed her arms, staring unflinchingly at her boyfriend. “Boyfriend? Hah. When you handed me over for resources back then, did you forget you were my boyfriend?”
“Didn’t you say it yourself? Our relationship was built on benefits from the start. You’d do anything to get famous, no matter what.”
“With you, ten scandals wouldn’t even compare to the impact of one with Wen Wen. So, don’t get in my way! Move!”
Shoving Jin Jinyi aside, she strode out first.
In the supermarket, Wen Wen pushed a shopping cart while Jiang Chi walked beside her, both heading toward the vegetable section.
At this hour, the store wasn’t crowded. Being a large supermarket, the space was vast, and even if there were a few customers, they were spread far enough apart that no one paid much attention. As a result, neither Jiang Chi nor Wen Wen bothered with disguises.
Passing the snack aisle, Jiang Chi’s eyes lit up at the sight of the glossy red and orange spicy strips hanging on the racks. She quickened her pace, grabbing two packs of her favorite and hugging them to her chest. Instinctively, she turned to Wen Wen with an expectant look, silently asking for permission.
Wen Wen chuckled. “Don’t look at me, ask the production team.”
Just as Jiang Chi turned toward the crew’s cameraman, a hand suddenly covered her eyes, blocking all light. Confused, she blinked.
Her long lashes brushed against the palm, tickling slightly, but Wen Wen didn’t lower her hand. She glanced at the cameraman for confirmation and received a firm nod in return.
Turning back to Jiang Chi, she spoke softly, “The crew said yes. Keep your eyes closed for now. I’ll move my hand in a bit wait until you adjust to the light before opening them.”
Jiang Chi gave a small nod.
Wen Wen withdrew her hand to find Jiang Chi still obediently keeping her eyes shut. Her long lashes cast delicate shadows beneath them, her head tilted slightly upward, her plump, rosy lips naturally pursed as if silently asking for a kiss.
Wen Wen’s gaze lingered on those lips for two seconds before she swallowed and looked away.
A moment later, Jiang Chi opened her eyes. Clutching the spicy strips, she leaned in close to Wen Wen’s ear and whispered, “Why cover my eyes? Was there something inappropriate just now?”
Her eyes widened dramatically, as if she’d stumbled upon some earth-shattering secret.
Then she caught herself. “Wait, no, we’re the same age. What kind of inappropriate thing could you see that I couldn’t?”
Wen Wen lowered her head with a quiet laugh before meeting Jiang Chi’s gaze again. Noticing the clear “I’m not happy about this” written all over her face, she teased, “What kind of inappropriate scene did you want to see?”
Without waiting for an answer, she added, “It wasn’t anything like that.”
“Why did you cover my eyes then?” Jiang Chi asked suspiciously. “Is it something only you can see?”
“Yes, only me.” Wen Wen replied with solemn seriousness, her deep eyes hiding what seemed like a brewing storm.
Jiang Chi would never know how many secret, twisted thoughts she’d harbored about her thoughts that had never ceased, known only to herself.
If Jiang Chi knew, she’d probably run far away.
Wen Wen pushed the shopping cart forward.
Jiang Chi followed, dissatisfied. “Why can’t I see it?”
“You can.”
Just needed to look in a mirror first.
Wen Wen didn’t elaborate. She casually picked up a pack of spicy strips to change the subject. “Want this?”
Jiang Chi’s attention was instantly diverted. “Yes, and that one too.”
After raiding the snack section, they moved to the vegetable area. Once they’d picked enough, they headed to checkout where staff stopped them, handing out bucket hats and masks.
Jiang Chi frowned. “It’s stuffy. I don’t want to wear these.”
The staff explained, “The checkout area is crowded. Disguises prevent disturbances.”
Wen Wen took a hat and placed it on Jiang Chi’s head. “Be good. Getting surrounded would be even stuffier.”
Jiang Chi obediently lowered her head for Wen Wen to adjust it.
At checkout, Jiang Chi gasped softly. “Why so many people? It didn’t seem crowded earlier.”
Long lines stretched behind every register.
“But it feels nice,” Jiang Chi suddenly mused.
Wen Wen gave her a questioning look.
After glancing around, Jiang Chi leaned close to whisper in Wen Wen’s ear, as if sharing a secret: “Don’t you think we look like a couple on a date right now?” Her voice trembled with inexplicable excitement.
Curious about her mysterious tone, Wen Wen leaned closer amid the noise. When the words registered, all sound seemed to vanish leaving only Jiang Chi’s warm breath and two echoing words: couple date.
Oh, and the frantic pounding of her heart threatening to burst.
If only it weren’t just resemblance.
Suddenly, a pair of sparkling dark eyes appeared in her vision. Wen Wen blinked to find Jiang Chi bent at the waist, head tilted curiously. “Sister? Daydreaming?” Those clear eyes crinkled. “Are you imagining shopping with a future boyfriend?”
A flicker of surprise crossed those bright eyes.
Wen Wen deflected, “Yes.”
“That’s so mean.” Jiang Chi’s expression instantly darkened. “I’m right here, yet you’re imagining,”
“There’s no one else.” Wen Wen interrupted casually. “I imagined you.”
Jiang Chi froze, then straightened up with a cough, adopting a haughty expression. “That’s more like it!”
Wen Wen merely smiled slightly.
As guests gradually returned to the Heartbeat Cottage, night fell completely. The group discussed dinner preparations.
All eyes turned to Wen Wen.
In group settings, when decisions need to be made, people instinctively look to the most “respected” individual and Wen Wen was undoubtedly the most popular among them.
Understanding the situation, Wen Wen asked succinctly, “Who can cook?”
Everyone except Jiang Chi raised their hands in unison.
“In that case,” Wen Wen smiled as she turned to Jiang Chi, “whose cooking would you like to try?”
Her question was essentially letting Jiang Chi decide who would prepare the meal.
Jiang Chi: “Sister, you can cook too?”
Wen Wen’s gaze briefly shifted toward Su Jing before she replied, “Yes.”
Jiang Chi noticed this subtle glance. To her, it seemed like Wen Wen was hinting, she wanted to cook with Su Jing to deepen their bond.
Is she really that smitten?!
An inexplicable frustration welled up in Jiang Chi.
She needed to make Wen Wen see Su Jing’s true colors soon and hurry up in setting Su Jing up with Bai Yuetong. Otherwise, once she broke up with Su Jing, Wen Wen would undoubtedly throw herself at him without hesitation!
Someone as composed and seemingly indifferent as Wen Wen, once she truly fell for someone, would likely cling to that person stubbornly.
Anyone could be that person just not Su Jing.
Su Jing wasn’t worthy!
Yes, Su Jing wasn’t worthy. Besides, she wanted to keep Wen Wen within a two-meter radius. She had no intention of hovering around the kitchen because of this.
“I’d like to try the two guys’ cooking,” Jiang Chi declared.
She immediately glanced at Wen Wen and, sure enough, caught a subtle shift in her expression. On the surface, Wen Wen appeared unfazed, but the atmosphere around her had noticeably darkened. This only confirmed Jiang Chi’s earlier suspicion.
Meanwhile, in a moment Jiang Chi missed, Su Jing sat up straighter at her choice and shot a smug look at Wen Wen.
The two guys agreed without issue.
Ji Mei also noticed the change in Wen Wen’s mood and seized the opportunity to suggest, “Sister Wen, how about the two of us wash the vegetables?”
Before Wen Wen could respond, Jiang Chi cut in, “No, she’s with me. If you want to wash vegetables, you can pair up with Bai Yuetong. After dinner, Sister and I will do the dishes.”
Ji Mei said nothing, simply watching Wen Wen, who remained silent.
Suddenly, Jiang Chi realized she had deliberately gone against Wen Wen’s wishes. Worse, Wen Wen already disliked her, her presence here was solely due to Jiang Chi’s relentless pestering. Feeling guilty, she lightly poked Wen Wen’s arm and whined pitifully, “Sister!”
Wen Wen sighed silently before replying flatly, “I’ll wash the dishes.”
Jiang Chi lifted her chin at Ji Mei, then quickly grabbed a nearby Rubik’s cube and handed it to Wen Wen. “Since we’re free now, Sister, teach me how to solve this again~”
After dinner, the guests gathered for casual conversation when the director suddenly appeared, holding a megaphone. “Everyone, look over here!”
Their attention drawn, they watched as a staff member wheeled out a small cart carrying several items, a pack of spicy strips, a roughly 10cm Doraemon keychain, a fountain pen, a book, a pink fox plushie, and a leaf-shaped necklace.
Curious, they all turned to Director Xu.
With a mysterious smile, Director Xu asked, “Does anything here look familiar to any of you?”
The guests nodded in recognition, as there was something on the table that belonged to each of them. Earlier, before the show started recording, the production team had requested items from the guests without explaining why. Seeing this setup now, they mostly understood what was coming.
Sure enough, Director Xu announced, “Next, we’ll play a game where the winner is determined by how long you can last. The guest who lasts the longest gets first pick of the items here, and so on, with the shortest time going last.”
“And the items you choose will determine who your date will be tomorrow.”
“There’s more,” Director Xu paused deliberately. “The person who picks first also gets to choose their room first for the next two days.”
The Heartbeat Villa was a three-story European-style house. The room arrangement included one single room on the first floor, two double rooms on the second floor, and another single room on the third floor, all with private bathrooms.
The guests were clearly intrigued and eagerly asked what the game was.
The “Don’t Laugh” challenge. Staff members would perform various actions, and the guests had to watch without looking away or leaving. Anyone who laughed would be immediately eliminated.
The guests glanced at each other and began composing their expressions, ready for the challenge.
The staff members were professional in their absurdity, with exaggerated movements and sounds. Soon, Ji Mei couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing. “Ah! I wanted to last till the end!” she groaned in frustration.
The other guests remained focused, ignoring her.
Not long after, Su Jing cracked.
About three minutes later, Bai Yuetong also succumbed, letting out a clear, melodious laugh that drew everyone’s attention. She shyly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
Jiang Chi glanced at Su Jing and noticed his gaze was entirely fixed on Bai Yuetong, even with a faint smile playing on his lips. She was quite pleased.
These two should be easy to pair up, right? After all, they were the main leads and already had feelings for each other. The only reason they hadn’t gotten together yet was because of her meddling.
Jiang Chi just hoped they would hurry up and lock it in so they’d stop bothering her!
However, due to the seating arrangement, from Wen Wen’s perspective, Su Jing wasn’t looking at Bai Yuetong but at Jiang Chi and Jiang Chi’s eyes were equally fixed on Su Jing.
To Wen Wen, it seemed Jiang Chi was pleased that Su Jing wasn’t paying attention to Bai Yuetong.
Her already expressionless face darkened further. She placed the scrambled Rubik’s cube she’d been holding onto the table with a soft “thud.” The sound wasn’t loud, but it was enough to draw everyone’s attention.
It successfully pulled Jiang Chi’s gaze away from Su Jing and toward her.
Wen Wen gave Jiang Chi a cool, indifferent glance.
Jiang Chi was puzzled. Though Wen Wen’s expression hadn’t changed, she could clearly sense,
Wen Wen was angry.
Why was she angry?
Was it because she had looked at Su Jing earlier?
Even if she liked him that much, was it really necessary to forbid others from looking at him?
A wave of frustration inexplicably surged back. Jiang Chi took a deep breath. The feeling didn’t completely dissipate, but it eased slightly.
Jin Jinyi glanced at the still-unsolved cube on the table, then looked up at Wen Wen, his expression strained with effort as he said seriously, “Teacher Wen, I’m going to beat you.”
Compared to his struggle, Wen Wen appeared exceptionally composed. Her expression hadn’t changed in the slightest since the game began. Even without any expression, she remained breathtakingly beautiful.
Wen Wen didn’t even glance at him, merely responding with cool indifference and disinterest: “Hmm, do your best.”
The game entered its final stages.
Only Jiang Chi, Wen Wen, and Jin Jinyi remained among the surviving guests. As a new round began, Jin Jinyi tried desperately to maintain a straight face and suppress his laughter, but his instinctive desires overpowered his will to resist.
He succumbed.
Before the final round started, Jiang Chi rubbed his stiff cheeks. Pressing too hard, the flesh of his cheeks squeezed between his fingers, his plump lips pouting high in an utterly pitiful look directed at Wen Wen.
Every thought was written plainly on his face.
Wen Wen found him utterly adorable, her earlier displeasure vanishing into thin air. She lowered her head with a self-deprecating smile, then raised her eyes to meet Jiang Chi’s gaze directly: “Want to win?”
Her peach-blossom eyes tilted slightly upward at the corners, brimming with temptation.
