- Chapter 18 - The Detestable Male Gathering
“Help Teacher.”
By the time Sirius shifted his attention away from his light-brain after setting a meeting time with Elias, Julian was already pillowed on his lap.
Julian was exceptionally skilled at lingering right on the edge of Sirius’s boundaries; he clung tightly, yet never in a way that sparked annoyance.
“Julian,” Sirius heard himself speak, his tone somewhat stiff. “Lex is coming back soon.”
The female froze for a moment, but his expression quickly smoothed over. Head resting on Sirius’s knee, he looked up at him. “Julian is fine with being a female attendant as well.”
It was inherently difficult for an A-rank female to become the Female Sovereign of an S-rank male. SSS-rank females were almost exclusively matched with S-rank males, but since such males were scarce, a high-ranking male with a good personality was someone even SSS-ranks would fight over. As an A-rank, Julian originally had very little hope.
Right now, the most important thing was to solidify his position in the male’s heart.
Following the line of Sirius’s arm, Julian pulled himself up. His fingers rested lightly on Sirius’s shoulders as he knelt on the sofa. He arched his back and stretched upward like a cat, putting his physique on full display before pressing a kiss onto the male’s lips.
“But my Lord said before that you wanted Julian to lay an egg for you.”
“Julian can have a cub before the Female Sovereign arrives.”
Sirius raised his right hand, letting it rest on the small of Julian’s back. His hand fit perfectly into the curve of the spine before moving to grip the side of his waist. “No, Julian. When he returns, I will break off the engagement with him, alright?”
Julian said neither yes nor no. He simply clung to Sirius, demanding a cub.
The male’s recent state had been abnormal. Julian was uncertain and did not know what move to make, so he chose to continue observing.
After whiling away the morning, Sirius faced a tight schedule. In the afternoon, he had to meet Clyde, a friend who was also an S-rank male. Like Sirius, Clyde disliked politics, but he loved banquets and meeting different bugs. Sirius was one of the individuals Clyde had proactively befriended.
Now was the time for that friendship to serve its purpose.
“The Chairman of the Council admires you, Sirius. If you want to join the Council, he would certainly welcome you.”
“We both know that is impossible, Clyde. I am too young, am I not?”
The red-haired male narrowed his eyes. “It is a pity. Among the females currently serving as captains, only the Sixth Fleet’s commander is unmarried. While backing the military is indeed a shortcut, his reputation is too poor. I do not suggest you take the risk.”
On this topic, Sirius uncharacteristically remained silent instead of refusing.
“Perhaps. Actually, he might not be that bad.”
Clyde was baffled. “What do you mean?” He was a bit worried that Sirius was becoming too radical.
But on second thought, even an S-rank male should not be significantly influenced by an SSS-rank female. Reassured, he caught up to Sirius.
“Are you not already engaged to the one from the Seventh Fleet? It will not be too late to wait until he takes power. Do not be in such a hurry; it will happen sooner or later. Your mental power is so strong that everyone thinks highly of you.”
“It is just a shame that you did not seem to like socializing with other males before. Everyone thought you disliked it.”
Sirius smiled at him. “I like it now.”
As a result, Sirius obtained a functional post as a Council Secretary.
According to the Chairman, he had great expectations for Sirius. He believed Sirius would surely hold a key position in the Council in the future, taking on the heavy responsibility of defending the rights of males and safeguarding the status of males on the Central Star.
For example, by winning over that unscrupulous Captain of the Sixth Fleet.
“Sirius, I believe you can definitely do it. He is an old female who just broke off an engagement with a B-rank male recently. Only the Insect Mother knows how much he craves a male.”
The Chairman paused, smiling suggestively at Sirius. “Especially one as young and excellent as you.”
“Of course, Lord Chairman.”
Of course? Perhaps. Thinking of the submissive Victor, Sirius pursed his lips.
The Chairman happily praised Sirius, calling him the bravest among the young males. He claimed that if they could penetrate or even master the military, Sirius would surely be recorded in history.
More males began to converse with Sirius.
They talked about the military, discussing which nearby star systems held life and where they could expand. They talked about politics, discussing which star system’s bugs were being restless again and attempting to enter the Council of the Central Star.
They mocked military females as stodgy and mean, calling them savage and unreasonable for daring to oppose males. They even mentioned Julian.
They commented on his good figure and his restless appearance, asking other males if anyone knew what he was like in bed, expressing a desire to swap and play around.
Sirius could no longer endure it.
Thud!
The noisy males fell silent, all looking at Sirius as he stood up. Sirius closed his eyes and smiled. “Forgive me. I do not often attend these events, and I fear I am a bit drunk. My head aches terribly; I may need to take my leave for a moment.”
The First Chairman waved his hand dismissively, telling Sirius to rest well and to attend more gatherings in the future to train himself. Sirius complied, his expression perfect and irreproachable.
However, once he left the banquet hall, bid farewell to the guard robots outside the male villa, and sat in his hovercar, Sirius could no longer hold it back. He clutched his chest and began to retch.
He needed to get more used to it. He was not used to it enough.
Sirius leaned back against the seat. The intelligent driving system asked in a warm voice for his destination. He took a long time to recover, unable to think of where he wanted to go.
Home? To be honest, he did not know how to face Julian right now. Julian was his female, yet Sirius had not defended his reputation. He had allowed Julian to be subjected to such fantasies right in front of him.
But should he have a falling out with the other males?
No male would fall out with another over a female, especially since Julian was not a Female Sovereign and those other males were all S-rank.
If he were cold-hearted enough, he should not care about these trifles for the sake of profit. If he were caring enough, he should have firmly defended his female. Yet, he was neither.
Make it public. Perhaps I should find a time to go public with my relationship with Julian. Even as a bug, he should protect his own female, right?
Checking the time, Sirius closed his eyes and took a brief rest. As he started the hovercar, he also opened his chat box.
“Teacher, I finished the gathering early. Where do you want to meet me?”
Elias’s message inviting him had come a few days ago, roughly around the time Sirius had confirmed the results. Sirius might have seen the message then, but he had not wanted to reply.
Even if Elias was unintentional, even if he meant nothing else, it was undeniable that he had given Sirius a glimmer of hope only for it to turn into despair. Thus, Sirius had not wanted to see him.
But thinking carefully, what did that have to do with Elias?
He had simply seen that the child he raised was in a bad mood and comforted him. He was not human and had never seen other humans; how could he know Sirius’s situation? He had simply picked a story Sirius had told to comfort him. How could he know Sirius’s pain?
Elias was the first life Sirius had encountered in this Zerg society.
Since Elias’s resignation, this was the second time Sirius had taken the initiative to find him. The meeting place was set at Elias’s home.
The moment Sirius arrived, the front door opened a crack, but no one was inside. Sirius waited outside for a moment, thought deeply, and then gently pushed the door open.
As soon as he entered, the door locked with a heavy bang. The atmosphere was somewhat heavy, and Sirius grew slightly alert.
“Teacher?” Sirius tried calling out, but there was no answer.
“Elias.” Still no response.
Sirius became a bit displeased.
Just as he was losing patience and about to leave, a somewhat ethereal voice finally drifted out.
“Sirius, good boy, come here.”
The voice came from deeper inside. Sirius looked left and right before walking straight into the house.
Only one room door was open. It was clearly the bedroom. In Zerg society, when a female invited a male to his home and let him into his room, the meaning could not be more obvious.
After a moment’s hesitation, Sirius walked in.
Elias was currently lying on the bed. His falling silver hair rested on his pale shoulders. He lived on the Rainforest Star year round, a place most suitable for Zerg, and his skin was well hydrated. With the curtains closed and the lights on, he possessed the luster of a pearl.
He wore no clothes, covered only by a layer of white gauze. Seeing Sirius enter, he opened his arms toward him, looking at him with the same tender, gentle affection as always, as if looking at a young, ignorant cub.
“Sirius, come here quickly.”
He was enticing him. Enticing a male he had once held in his own arms. Perhaps their age gap was not that large; perhaps they were entirely legal in Zerg society; it was already like this; females who raised a male were often married back into that male’s home.
So, Sirius should be able to do this.
In fact, the moment he entered the door, Sirius should have anticipated this scene. Since he was standing here, he had already given his tacit consent.
Sirius stepped forward.
“Sirius.”
Elias looked up at him, completely open before him. What drew Sirius’s attention most were the two points on his chest.
Red through white, and white within red.
The air emitted a faint, very familiar scent to Sirius.
He stepped forward to sniff. While still an arm’s length away from Elias, the female trembled all over, shrinking back slightly before straightening his spine and leaning in a few inches closer.
“Sirius, mmh, a little bug cub needs to eat more to grow tall.”
As he spoke, Elias’s body jolted, and two droplets fell, landing on Sirius’s shirt. The damp sensation brought Sirius’s attention back.
Elias had asked before about the issue of him not drinking milk.
Sirius lowered his gaze. Elias was simply too close; he could clearly see the fine, soft, almost transparent down on his body. It seemed that as long as he gently opened his mouth, he could taste the sweetness.
He struggled to think about why Elias was doing this.
Was it also to comfort him? Or was it something else?
Sirius kept trying to shift his focus, but Elias took it a step further, offering himself to Sirius’s lips while pulling Sirius’s head into a tight embrace.
“Sirius, my Sirius, help Teacher. Teacher feels so uncomfortable right now.”
