- Chapter 8 - Rule #8 of Raising a Daughter: Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Thud!
The brick landed heavily on the green-haired boy’s left shoulder with such force that the bone snapped with an audible crack.
Ding Moyan wasn’t foolish enough to aim for the head, that was far too dangerous. Given how fragile skulls were, a direct hit could easily kill someone. So, she settled for venting her frustration on the sturdy shoulder instead.
The green-haired boy twitched as the pain shot through his nerves. He sucked in a sharp breath, curling his feet in agony.
Trembling, he raised his right hand to point at Ding Moyan, his voice laced with venom and fear. “Do you even know who I am?”
Unfortunately, Ding Moyan’s overwhelming pheromones left him gasping for air, reducing his threats to fragmented whispers.
Her sharp ears caught every word of his feeble intimidation.
Ah, so he was pulling the family card.
Ding Moyan’s expression remained indifferent: System.
**[Name: Ding Yue
Gender: Male Alpha
Rank: B-Class
Pheromone: Thick Smoke
Personality: Arrogant, narcissistic, and delusional, a perfect trifecta. He abuses his family’s influence and his self-proclaimed B-Class Alpha status to exploit Betas and Omegas. System scan confirms: this green-haired freak is a full-blown predator.
Relationship to Original Host: Younger brother of Ding Bai, technically making him the original host’s half-brother.
Original Plot Involvement: During Old Lady Ding’s homecoming banquet, he assists Ding Bai in framing the original host, leading to Old Lady Ding’s drowning death. As a result, Ding Moyan is exiled from the family.
Original Ending: Inherits the family fortune and lives happily ever after with a noble Omega.]**
Ding Yue, Ding Bai’s brother.
Ding Moyan’s expression turned peculiar. She moistened her lips and smirked mischievously. So, does that mean I can beat him up without consequences?
[This world operates similarly to the one you came from. Assault can lead to detention, warnings, or fines.]
[Proceed with caution.]
Ding Moyan stared at the nauseating green hair prolonged exposure was practically visual pollution. She muttered, If we both end up at the police station, who do you think would be more humiliated? Just me or the entire Ding family?
Her brow arched. A prestigious family, high society, I doubt they’d tolerate the scandal.
Initially, she had only intended to teach this creep a lesson for his disgusting behavior. But after reading the system’s profile, a single beating was far from enough.
The original host’s death had been gruesome. Ever since inheriting this body, Ding Moyan had felt an unsettling sense of shared suffering.
The system’s mention of the original host being framed and exiled explained why her fate had been so tragic. Without the family’s protection, a nobody like her could die anywhere, in any way with no one to care or even ask questions.
A cold glint flashed in Ding Moyan’s eyes as she replied flatly, “No, I don’t.”
“Then listen up, the Ding family! Ever heard of it?” Ding Yue, the green-haired boy, panicked. He spoke too fast, accidentally biting his tongue, and winced at the dull pain.
Worried his threat wasn’t convincing enough, he added, “I’m a young master of the Ding family! The future heir! If you dare lay a hand on me, I’ll make sure you die!”
“Die by your hands?” Ding Moyan murmured, resting her chin on her fingers as her potent pheromones continued to saturate the air.
Ding Yue, undeterred, sneered. “That’s right. You’re dead.”
Jiǎng Pèi’s face flushed crimson, clearly affected by Ding Moyan’s pheromones. He tugged weakly at her sleeve. “Moyan.”
Ding Moyan glanced down at Jiǎng Pèi before guiding him to the corner of the wall with a gentle hand. She nodded and instructed, “Stay here and close your eyes.”
“O-okay.” Jiǎng Pèi stammered nervously, obediently shutting his eyes and covering them with his hands.
Once Jiǎng Pèi was settled, Ding Moyan stretched her limbs, loosening up as she cast a cold gaze at the helpless prey at her feet. A faint smile curled on her lips, half of her face shrouded in shadow within the dim alley, her grin unsettling and eerie.
“W-what are you doing?!” Ding Yue was baffled. Why wasn’t she afraid after hearing his family name?
Worse, he could’ve sworn he saw a glint of bloodthirsty excitement in Ding Moyan’s eyes.
“Don’t come any closer!” The suppression from her pheromone rank made Ding Yue’s legs go weak. Staring at that terrifying face, he scooted backward in discomfort, his rear scraping against the ground.
Inside the café at the Rose Workshop,
Ye Ye slumped over the table, swinging her legs restlessly. “When is your brother getting here? I’m tired of waiting.”
“How are you tired just sitting there?” Yu Sisi had already finished her milk tea, though drowsiness lingered between her brows.
“My butt hurts from sitting! Got it?” Ye Ye shot Yu Sisi an annoyed glare.
“Tch.”
Yu Sisi yawned, rolling her eyes before turning to Ding Bai, who was sipping coffee. “How much longer till he arrives?”
“I called him, but he didn’t pick up.” Ding Bai frowned, dialing again. The phone buzzed, but there was no sign of an answer.
Ye Ye groaned in frustration. “What kind of crappy brother doesn’t answer his sister’s calls?”
“Just kill him and dump the body already. I’m so done, I’m losing it!” Ye Ye gritted her teeth, gripping a blade she’d somehow procured and stabbing it into the table, venting her anger on the poor furniture.
The sharp ring of a phone mixed with agonized screams echoed through the secluded alley.
“P-please, spare me!”
“Help! I won’t do it again, I swear! Don’t hit my face!”
“I-I’m sorry, waaah!”
Ding Moyan rained down blows, as if channeling all the resentment from the original host’s past suffering onto Ding Yue.
Jiǎng Pei huddled in the corner, hands clamped over his eyes. Though he despised sleazy alphas like Ding Yue, the sheer brutality of the screams sent chills down his spine. His admiration for Ding Moyan shifted into a mix of awe and fear.
Ding Yue spat out a mouthful of blood. His initial taunts and curses had devolved into desperate pleas for mercy under Ding Moyan’s relentless beating.
By now, Ding Yue couldn’t believe this woman was an A-rank Alpha. Worse, after learning his identity, she’d only grown fiercer, striking harder as if she wouldn’t stop until he was crippled.
Fear deepened in Ding Yue’s eyes, but so did his hatred for her.
At the alley’s entrance, a few scattered Betas caught sight of the bloody scene and immediately shrank back in terror.
They huddled together, whispering urgently.
“Did we take a wrong turn?”
“That’s terrifying so violent.”
“Isn’t this the place the President mentioned?”
“No mistake, it’s this alley.” A male Beta compared the profile picture on his phone to the frail figure hiding in the corner, a perfect match. “That’s Jiǎng Pèi over there too.”
Recalling the scene from earlier, the female Beta unconsciously swallowed hard. “Um, do we still need to go over there now?”
