Transmigrated into a Trashy A and Ended Up with My Grudge-filled Best Friend and My Own CP - Chapter 70
“Ding Moyan!” Ye Ye sensed something was wrong and immediately ran after her.
“What happened? Where are you going? I’ll take you.” Ye Ye stopped the visibly agitated Ding Moyan.
At this moment, Ding Moyan couldn’t afford to waste time and directly got into Ye Ye’s car. The priority now was to reach Rose Apartment as quickly as possible.
Ye Ye was aware of Wang Ye’s disappearance from the hospital, so there was no harm in telling her.
Since Ye Ye’s family driver was in the car, Ding Moyan wasn’t comfortable discussing certain matters openly. Instead, she sent a message detailing the events of Wang Ye appearing at the apartment, including the fact that Wang Ye had turned into an Omega.
“Hmm?” Ye Ye frowned upon reading about Wang Ye’s transformation into an Omega, her emotions stirring.
The experiment of forcibly turning a Beta into an Omega was inherently cruel and unnatural. The interstellar government had once sanctioned such experiments, with many gender-suppressed Betas volunteering. However, the procedure was ultimately terminated after a high mortality rate due to Gland Rejection shocked the higher-ups.
Wang Ye’s sudden reappearance after vanishing made Ye Ye recall a recent piece of information she had obtained from her father.
A cold sweat broke out on Ye Ye’s skin. Zong Jia had gone missing during detention. The surveillance cameras monitoring Zong Jia had malfunctioned, leaving no trace of how she disappeared.
The circumstances of Zong Jia’s disappearance were eerily similar to Wang Ye’s.
Experimental subjects. If Wang Ye had been taken to undergo a Beta-to-Omega transformation, then what was the purpose behind abducting Zong Jia? Zong Jia was already an Omega.
Still, one thing puzzled Ye Ye, the key difference between a Beta and an Omega lay in the Gland. If Wang Ye had been turned into an Omega, where had the Gland come from?
Glands were either innate or developed naturally through secondary differentiation. Even with current technological advancements, artificially created Glands could barely survive for a minute.
Wang Ye’s Gland. Zong Jia’s disappearance. Every detail flashed through Ye Ye’s mind frame by frame.
Gland. Gland. Could the Gland used for Wang Ye possibly be.
Ye Ye’s expression froze. As this speculation took shape, her nerves tightened, and goosebumps rose on the back of her neck and wrists.
Ye Ye quickly sent Ding Moyan the information she knew: The police found A-Grade Contraband Drugs in the artificial hot spring at the Zōng family’s main residence.
Ding Moyan’s pupils constricted. Though she had already guessed as much, her fingers unconsciously clenched.
Ye Ye closed her eyes briefly, steadying herself before typing again: There’s worse news. After the incident, Zong Jia went missing during detention.
Meanwhile, the police station’s conference room was brightly lit as an emergency meeting took place.
“Zong Jia, the suspect in Jiang Pei’s murder case involving A-Grade drugs, went missing early this morning. The officers assigned to guard her were poisoned and remain unconscious in critical condition. The surveillance cameras in the area were tampered with, leaving only footage before midnight.”
The chief inspector at the head of the table scanned the room with a stern expression. “Regarding Zong Jia’s disappearance, what are your thoughts?”
“Not long after A-Grade Contraband Drugs were discovered at her family’s residence, the suspect suddenly vanished. It’s possible she fled to avoid prosecution.”
“She couldn’t have escaped alone. Someone must have assisted her.”
“I searched the detained villa and scanned the interior using the olfactory channel. Apart from Zong Jia’s pheromone scent, no additional pheromone traces were detected,” a long-haired officer voiced his opinion. “If someone assisted, the helper couldn’t possibly be an Alpha or Omega.”
Someone immediately countered, “Don’t be so certain. The helper might not have entered the house; they could have assisted from outside.”
“Can we ask what caused the poisoning of the dispatched officers?”
The police superintendent spoke up, “The water source. A large amount of a new type of sleeping pill was found at the water purifier outlet. Drinking it won’t be fatal, but it induces prolonged unconsciousness. That’s why we only just learned about Zong Jia’s disappearance.”
“Then it’s highly likely that Zong Jia did it herself.”
“Mo Tang, what are your thoughts?” The superintendent turned to his star pupil, who had remained silent until now.
“My thoughts.”
Her forehead slightly obscured by strands of hair, Mo Tang rested her chin on one hand while the other circled a name on a personal file with a black pen.
The photo on the file showed a youthful girl just enrolled in school, with a brief biography listed below.
Name: Ding Moyan
Gender: Female Alpha
Pheromone: White Lotus
Rank: A
Background: Ostensible heir of the Ding family (marginalized in family power, mother deceased early, strained relationship with father).
Current Records: Excelled academically to enter the Rose Workshop, extensive social network, involved in ambiguous relationships with multiple Betas and Omegas, exhibits some Scumbag Alpha traits, currently marked Zong Jia. (Previously pursued a victim in Jiang Pei’s case.)
“I don’t believe Zong Jia escaped on her own. On the contrary, I think she was kidnapped.”
As soon as Mo Tang finished speaking, many in the room exchanged glances.
While this was a possibility, who would be reckless enough to kidnap the heir of the Zong family?
Moreover, Zong Jia is an S-rank Omega. Unless it was an S-rank Alpha suppressing her, no one could overpower Zong Jia without Mecha support.
“No signs of struggle or intense attack pheromones were found inside,” someone nearby stood up to question.
“Mo Tang, why do you think so?” The superintendent narrowed his eyes slightly, tapping his pen on the desk, seemingly very interested in Mo Tang’s theory.
“The sleeping pills in the water purifier don’t rule out someone else’s doing. Whoever cut off the surveillance cameras could also have sneaked into the detained villa to drug the water. The officers were poisoned, and Zong Jia might have drunk it too, falling unconscious before being quietly taken away at dawn.”
Mo Tang continued, “Secondly, the Zong family likely caught wind of Zong Jia’s disappearance. My informants say they’ve been conducting extensive searches, making quite a stir. Many in the upper circles know about it. The elite care deeply about face, I doubt they’d risk the reputation of the Zong family’s companies just for a show. This suggests the Zong family wasn’t involved in assisting her.”
“Lastly, based on my personal experience with that old fox, Zong Jia wouldn’t be so reckless as to hide A-Grade Contraband Drugs in the main house. Nor would she impulsively flee knowing the drugs had been discovered by the police.”
Where there was agreement, there was naturally opposition. The alpha of equal rank sitting across from Mo Tang raised a skeptical brow. “Captain Mo, this is just speculation on your part.”
“Indeed, it is,” Mo Tang readily admitted. It truly was nothing more than conjecture without evidence. “I’m merely presenting a possible scenario for everyone’s consideration.”
The police superintendent pondered in silence. His seat felt unbearably hot this case had already drawn attention from higher-ups, and if handled poorly, he would be the first to suffer the consequences.
After a long moment of silence, the superintendent exhaled deeply and declared, “We only have two weeks. This matter must be resolved as quickly as possible.”
“Here’s the division of tasks: Team One will split into two groups, one to search for traces of Zong Jia, the other to handle negotiations and interrogations with members of the Zong family. Team Two will continue investigating the connection between the A-Grade Contraband Drug and Jiang Pei’s death.”
At this point, the superintendent’s voice suddenly sharpened: “Two weeks, spare no effort. We must get to the bottom of this. Understood?”
The officers in the room stood at attention, responding solemnly: “Understood!”
The night sky was pitch black, a crescent moon hanging high in the thin, frigid air that carried a bone-chilling cold.
Night concealed too much filth, silent yet eerie.
A black hover car sped down the main road like a streak of lightning, its velocity astonishing to behold.
Mo Tang gripped the steering wheel, accelerating toward her destination.
She had no time to waste.
“Senior, you said the A-Grade found in the Zong family’s artificial hot springs wasn’t planted by Zong Jia herself, and that Zong Jia disappeared around the same time. Following your reasoning.” A rookie officer clutching a case file adjusted his large-framed glasses and ventured, “If she was abducted, wouldn’t the kidnappers’ goal be to frame Zong Jia for fleeing justice? Could those who planted the A-Grade be the same people who took Zong Jia?”
Mo Tang smiled faintly. “No, I don’t believe the kidnappers and those who planted the A-Grade Potion are the same group.”
“The Zong family is after all an elite clan their influence even makes the royal family wary. They naturally have formidable security measures of their own. Whoever managed to plant the A-Grade there was probably hiding within the Zong household itself. Framing the main family would benefit the most powerful branches of the Zong clan the most.”
The rookie blinked. “Internal strife?”
“Perhaps.” Mo Tang didn’t give a definitive answer. With a soft sigh, she activated the hover car’s display screen.
The rookie studied the descending list of names. “This is the Zong family tree.”
“Zong Sheng, Zong Lin, Zong Si, Zong Ming.” When he reached this name, the rookie’s pupils dilated violently. His voice noticeably faltered as he whipped his head toward Mo Tang. “This name, it’s the same as Senior’s.”
Before he could finish, Mo Tang spoke calmly: “He is my Alpha father.”
The air instantly froze. The rookie held his breath, not daring to make a sound.
He knew his senior well she absolutely detested any discussion about her parents.
Though the hover car’s seats were plush and comfortable, the rookie now felt as if he were sitting on needles. The faint but unmistakable pressure of high-level pheromones surrounding him made him want to cry, why did he have to open his big mouth and bring up such a taboo subject?
The intern rubbed the Gland on the back of his neck, which was having an adverse reaction to the high-level suppression pheromones being released. The Gland had turned a deep red, swollen and sore, making the grown man’s eyes and nose sting as if he were about to cry.
“Senior Sister,” the intern grunted nasally, his voice hoarse.
Mo Tang turned the steering wheel. “Hmm?”
“My, my Gland hurts,” the intern said, his voice growing smaller. “Senior Sister, your pheromones are too strong.”
“Oh, sorry.”
Mo Tang offered an insincere apology. “Force of habit, didn’t hold back. I’ll be more careful next time.”
The last sentence sounded less like a promise and more like a warning about what he should and shouldn’t say.
As the pheromones receded significantly, the discomfort in his Gland eased. The intern caught his breath and kept his head down, staying as quiet as a quail.
A loose tongue brings trouble better to stay silent.
The intern held back from speaking to Mo Tang the entire ride. Only when they neared the destination marked on the navigation did he finally muster the courage to ask, “Senior Sister, why are we going to Rosewood Apartments?”
Mo Tang cut him off, stepping on the brake and pressing the door release button on the control panel. “We’re here. Get out.”
