- Chapter 19 - Rule 19 of Raising a Daughter: You Must Believe in My Driving Skills
The metallic clang of a gun hitting the ground echoed loudly.
The black-clad man groaned in pain, clutching his head with one hand.
Seizing the opportunity, Ye Ye swallowed the White Pill and charged straight at him, yanking the long blade from his waist and plunging it into his chest.
In just three seconds, the silver blade pierced through his torso.
Bright red blood splattered across Ye Ye’s delicate face. She licked her dry lips, staring down at the corpse at her feet with a blooming smile.
[Player Zou Ye’s HP has been reduced to zero. Exiting Nationwide Escape.]
Only the eliminated player could hear this notification, though the game panel would still display the updated number of survivors.
[Host, you actually managed to hit from that far away.]
“Of course. I’m really good at ring toss, arrow throwing, and stuff like that.” Ding Moyan smirked, tossing out the Steel Rope and pressing the Retractor. In an instant, she was yanked up to the balcony.
Ding Bai was still lying in a pool of blood, struggling to breathe as she forced out a few words: “Ding Moyan.”
Moyan retracted the Steel Rope and walked over to Ding Bai, glancing down. “Yeah, little sister.”
“Run!” With their leader dead and another formidable Alpha arriving, the remaining members panicked. Survival became their priority, and they scattered in disarray.
Ye Ye twirled her gun, ready to wipe them all out.
“No need to chase. With their leader gone, they’re useless now.” Yu Sisi reached out to stop her.
“Oh.” Ye Ye pouted, tossing the 94F pistol to Yu Sisi with disinterest.
Yu Sisi knew Ye Ye was easily bored. She was about to comfort her with, You can have all the fun you want when we regroup at the center, when Ye Ye wiped the blood from her face and switched expressions, sidling up to Ding Moyan.
“Moyan, you’re amazing! Thank goodness you were here without you, we’d all be doomed.” Ye Ye giggled sweetly.
Moyan looked down at the Omega clinging to her waist: “…”
The lingering bloodstains on Ye Ye’s cheeks made her appear even more alluring. Her shimmering gaze lingered on Moyan, exuding an ethereal mix of innocence and allure. “Oh, by the way, I hope I didn’t scare you earlier, sis.”
Moyan couldn’t maintain her composure. She pried Ye Ye’s hands off and pushed her toward Yu Sisi, deadpanning three sentences: “I was scared. Here, take her. Next time, don’t let your partner run wild.”
Yu Sisi froze awkwardly, unsure whether to take Ye Ye or not.
Ding Bai remained silent, quietly pouring Recovery Potion on herself.
“Moyan!”
Yu Sisi: “Who’s there?”
Ding Bai: “A ghost?”
Yu Sisi suddenly felt a chilling breeze, her hair standing on end. Terrified, she shrieked at the top of her lungs.
“Moyan, it’s me.” Wang Ye removed her Cloak, her figure materializing out of thin air.
Moyan eyed the Cloak, reaching out to touch it, the texture was surprisingly good. “This is…?”
“It’s mine. My first personal achievement reward.” Wang Ye stumbled over her words, forcing them out clearly. “It grants, Invisibility.”
Yu Sisi stared at the reward in Wang Ye’s hand, genuinely envious. “That ability is so powerful.”
With that thought, Yu Sisi realized how unlucky she was, she’d only gotten an ordinary gun. In a Holographic Game filled with Ghosts, the longer the game went on, the less useful a gun became. It was nowhere near as good as Invisibility or Ye Ye’s escape pills.
“What a stroke of bad luck.” Ye Ye had finished all her pills and now stood empty-handed.
“Moyan, what’s your reward?” Seeing Ding Moyan’s interest in her cloak, Wang Ye handed the cloak over to her.
“Just this.” Ding Moyan picked up the shabby gun with disdain.
Ye Ye stared at the gun. Though not as good as Yu Sisi’s 94F, it could still take that man in black out of the game if used unexpectedly. “You could’ve just shot that guy secretly earlier. Made me waste my pills for nothing.”
“Take a closer look. There are no bullets.” Ding Moyan tossed the gun to Ye Ye.
Yu Sisi shamelessly ruined the mood, bursting into laughter. “Ding Moyan, you’re even worse off than me!”
“My heart is at peace. Heaven hasn’t treated me too badly.”
Only then did Ding Moyan realize Yu Sisi wasn’t as timid as she seemed.
“Perfect, we have five people now.” Yu Sisi counted the group and, seeing Ding Bai didn’t refuse, clapped her hands decisively. “Come on, let’s team up.”
She was Ding Bai’s confidante, able to interpret every expression and gesture to predict his next move.
“What do you all think?”
Her personality was adaptable she had come to Ding Bai’s group precisely to form a team. With less than six minutes left, there really was no better option. Ding Moyan nodded. “Fine.”
Seeing Ding Moyan agree so readily, Wang Ye raised her hand. “Me too.”
“I don’t,” Ye Ye clearly disliked Wang Ye, her face scrunched in displeasure.
But before she could finish, Yu Sisi smacked her head lightly, smiling like a tiger. “Less than five minutes left, you know.”
Ye Ye shut her mouth, keeping her distance from Wang Ye on her own.
Yu Sisi snapped her fingers. “Since no one objects, let’s head to Central Plaza now.”
Ding Bai checked the game navigation. “I looked it up. Walking would take ten minutes.”
“Driving would take three at most.” Ding Moyan twirled a key around her finger.
“Where’d you get a car?” Ye Ye stared at the key in confusion.
“Parking lot’s full of them. Just take one.” Ding Moyan said. “Let’s go.”
The car stopped at the foot of the building, with Ding Moyan in the driver’s seat.
“What are you doing? I’m sitting here.” Ye Ye blocked the passenger door.
Wang Ye: “Me too.”
“Save it. I’m taking shotgun.” Yu Sisi rubbed her temples. This troublesome Ye Ye for now, Wang Ye was clearly the strongest in the team. Couldn’t she at least try to butter her up?
Yu Sisi settled into the passenger seat, closing the door with a light cough before speaking seriously. “Current survivors: 43. If the game requires teams of five, that means three people will be eliminated as extras.”
“And there’ll probably be another round of selection, since this holographic game uses a 5v5 format. Only ten will remain to form new teams. Ours is just temporary for now.” Yu Sisi’s lashes fluttered. “Or maybe four teams face off, two advance, and the final two compete.”
“That’s my analysis of the rules so far.”
Ye Ye: “Agreed.”
“By the way, little Mo Mo, can you even drive?”
With the system covering its face in horror and screaming internally, Ding Moyan answered uncertainly, “I think so. I drove here, after all.”
Yu Sisi let out a long, relieved sigh. After all, the three of them had always been chauffeured by family members, they’d touched cars before but had never actually driven one themselves.
Yu Sisi patted Ding Moyan’s shoulder and said, “Now I can rest easy.”
