- Chapter 11 - Rule for Raising a Sweet Omega #11: Couple's Meal
Wang Ye shrank back slightly, her long lashes fluttering as she avoided Ding Moyan’s gaze.
“N-no, don’t!”
“Hmm? Don’t like it?” Ding Moyan was a quick learner. She reached out and wrapped an arm around Wang Ye’s slender waist.
Wang Ye’s ears turned crimson, her back instinctively arching at the touch. Her eyes reddened, trapped in the embrace, utterly at a loss.
She couldn’t understand why her usually aloof roommate had become so abnormal, always teasing her like this.
She wasn’t narcissistic enough to think she was so stunning that Ding Moyan would fall for her at first sight though she did have a bit of a crush on Ding Moyan herself.
[Host, you’re going too far. The original body was a playboy Scumbag Alpha, but even she wasn’t this cringey or this greasy.]
[Ugh! I’m gonna puke.]
Ding Moyan’s face darkened. Pfft, screw off.
Wang Ye’s cheeks burned as she lowered her head, stammering, “You, you didn’t come to class today.”
After beating up Ding Yue and getting dragged to the police station, she really hadn’t had time to attend. But she’d checked the schedule today was a dance class for Omegas. As an Alpha, she figured she didn’t need to go. At least, that’s what she’d thought at the time.
Ding Moyan nodded. “Yeah.”
“It was Old Zhang’s class. She took attendance.”
[Zhang Bei, the dance instructor for the original body’s year. Known for her strictness nicknamed the ‘Witch of the West.’ She takes attendance every time, and if you skip, you fail outright. No one dares to skip her class.]
Ding Moyan frowned at the system’s explanation. The Witch of the West? Then why didn’t you remind me earlier?
[Brave Host, fear no hardship.jpg]
Ding Moyan: “…”
Her enthusiasm deflated. The system’s description of this so-called Witch of the West dredged up memories of her own unlucky streak in real life like that one time in college when she’d been late to a new professor’s class and got caught, suffering dire consequences.
“Did the teacher say anything about me not being there?” Ding Moyan asked nervously. She couldn’t afford to fail a subject right after transmigrating here.
Wang Ye replied, “I… I answered for you.”
Ding Moyan perked up. “Good roommate.”
Gazing at the midday sun, she offered gratefully, “Have you eaten yet? Let me treat you, we’ll go off-campus.”
Wang Ye waved her hands in refusal. “Ah, no, no need!”
“The cafeteria food is awful. Off-campus is way better. Come on.” Ding Moyan grabbed Wang Ye’s hand and pulled her along.
“Any food you can’t eat?”
Wang Ye thought for a moment. “Fish.”
“How about this place?” Ding Moyan stopped in front of a small stir-fry restaurant called Jiangzhou and turned to ask.
“The hygiene isn’t great,” Wang Ye murmured shyly from behind her. “My family and I ate here once before. We got diarrhea.”
“Oh. Then what about the one next door? Looks decent.”
Wang Ye pressed her lips together. “Too expensive.”
“Don’t worry, it’s on me.” Ding Moyan tugged her inside.
The restaurant had an elegant European-style decor luxurious on the outside, refined and artistic inside. The color scheme was cream and gold, with roses adorning every table, creating a serene and romantic atmosphere.
“Welcome, miss.”
“How many in your party?” The server greeted them warmly.
Ding Moyan replied, “Two.”
The server smiled. “Right this way, miss.”
Knowing Wang Ye’s personality, Ding Moyan led her to a secluded spot inside the restaurant, where ordering required scanning a QR code with a phone.
Ding Moyan swiped through the digital menu, considering what to eat.
The shop played elegant piano music, bathed in warm lighting. Wang Ye gazed at the luxurious interior decor, suddenly feeling restless, repeatedly wanting to get up and flee.
The waitress pouring water smiled at the two seated customers and suggested, “Today is Valentine’s Day, and the shop has specially launched an AO Lovers’ Set Meal at a great price, complete with small gifts and holographic game experience vouchers.”
“Ah, we, we’re not.” Wang Ye was startled and hurriedly explained their relationship to the waitress.
Ding Moyan found the set meal, clicked on it, and quickly placed the order. “We’ll take this set meal.”
Wang Ye froze momentarily, her cheeks flushing red again, seemingly not understanding why Ding Moyan would order this.
“Got it,” the waitress said before going to fetch their utensils.
Wang Ye frowned. “Ding Moyan, you, why?”
“What do you think?” Ding Moyan propped her chin on her hand.
[That’s too much, Host.]
Ding Moyan raised an eyebrow: Not really. I do have a good impression of Wang Ye. Don’t you think she’s adorable?
[So, Host, you like her and want to be with her?]
Ding Moyan’s eyes curved into crescents, considering the system’s words.
[Host, don’t mess around.]
[Host, you can’t fall in love. You won’t stay in this world for long. You only have two paths: either complete the mission and return or exhaust your life here.]
Ding Moyan took a deep breath: Oh, I know.
She was well aware of the paths the system mentioned, but she was rebellious by nature, always wanting to challenge the impossible.
Just as Wang Ye was about to speak, Ding Moyan cut in, “Want to play a holographic game? I checked the schedule no classes this afternoon. After eating, we can use the free vouchers to play.”
Though she knew Ding Moyan wouldn’t answer, Wang Ye couldn’t help the disappointment in her tone. But then she felt inexplicably relieved at least she hadn’t asked if Ding Moyan liked her. That would’ve been mortifying.
The waitress returned. “Here’s the couple’s set meal you ordered. Enjoy your meal!”
Ding Moyan’s expression froze as she spotted three striking figures approaching.
Damn, what kind of coincidence is this?!
Caught red-handed.
Ye Ye, sharp-eyed, noticed Ding Moyan feeding Wang Ye the moment she stepped inside.
She smirked and walked over, teasing, “Mo Yan, having a second meal?”
Ding Moyan knew Ye Ye was referring to how she’d refused her earlier at the police station, claiming she’d already eaten, only to coincidentally meet here.
Wang Ye, intimidated by the famous trio from campus, grew nervous under the heavy atmosphere and lowered her head, too afraid to eat.
“Yeah, just having a second meal.”
Ding Moyan calmly lifted her eyelids, placing a piece of tenderloin into Wang Ye’s bowl. She smiled at her. “Eat.”
Wang Ye obediently nibbled on the meat.
Ye Ye narrowed her eyes, noticing the female Beta sitting across from Ding Moyan.
Her gaze shifted to Wang Ye freckled, short, a bit plump, timid as a mouse, with no redeeming qualities.
Is this Ding Moyan’s type? Was her relationship with the President fake?
Ding Moyan noticed Wang Ye’s discomfort. She put down her chopsticks and glared coldly at Ye Ye. “Do you have a habit of staring at people while they eat, Ye?”
Ye Ye clicked her tongue lightly. “Mo Yan, you’re angry.”
“Ye Ye.” Seeing Ding Moyan again, Ding Bai’s mood darkened. She had already been angered by Ding Moyan before coming here and wasn’t hungry at all, she’d only come because Ye Ye was hungry.
“Are you hungry? If not, let’s go.” Now that she saw Ding Moyan, she frowned with a headache. Usually, Ye Ye would notice her expression and speak according to her mood.
But this time, Ye Ye didn’t follow Ding Bai’s lead. She kept her eyes fixed on Ding Moyan, completely oblivious to Ding Bai’s displeasure.
“Hungry? Of course, I’m hungry.”
Finding the situation amusing, Ye Ye suddenly developed a hearty appetite. She moved to the table next to Ding Moyan’s, sitting where she could observe every move Ding Moyan made.
“What set meal did they order? Bring me the same,” she called to the waiter, crossing her legs. Her tone was dripping with provocation toward Ding Moyan.
