- Chapter 10 - Rule for Raising a Daughter No. 10: Your Face Is So Red
“You’re faking it, aren’t you? That’s my sister,” Ding Yue glared at Ding Moyan.
Ding Moyan leaned back in her chair, her gaze lingering on Ding Bai with an amused smirk.
Ding Bai felt a chill run down her spine. She couldn’t stand Ding Moyan’s inexplicable stare and snapped coldly, “Ding Moyan, what kind of trick are you playing now?”
Ding Moyan!
That name sounded so familiar. Ding Yue frowned.
“Though we share the same father but different mothers, you’re still my dear little sister. Could it be you don’t want to acknowledge me as your sister?” Ding Moyan clicked her tongue teasingly. “If that’s the case, Father would be heartbroken.”
The moment she finished speaking, Ding Yue’s face twisted in disgust, as if he had just swallowed something foul.
He had grown up abroad, but during conversations with his sister, he had heard about this half-sister of his a haughty, condescending woman who often bullied his sister.
Who would’ve thought…
Ding Moyan waved her phone, deliberately provoking Ding Yue. Just as he paled in shock and lunged to snatch it, she sidestepped and kicked him square in the stomach.
“Ow!” Ding Yue yelped in pain, hopping on one foot.
Ding Bai’s fists clenched audibly. “Ding Moyan!”
Watching her brother get beaten right in front of her, she wanted nothing more than to kill Ding Moyan.
“Oh, I’m listening,” Ding Moyan smiled, her presence alone a silent threat to Ding Yue. She leisurely tapped her phone, and a familiar voice played words that seeped into Ding Bai’s ears.
“Your sister must be just as disgusting as you.”
“You’d better be glad your sister is an Alpha. If she were a Beta or an Omega, I’d make sure she suffered so much she’d never escape.”
“No, even if she’s an Alpha, I’d have someone rip out her Gland and turn her into a useless waste.”
Yu Sisi swallowed hard, frozen in place like a statue.
“Bai, Bai Bai…” Ye Ye tugged at Ding Bai’s sleeve, cautiously eyeing her expression.
Ding Bai’s face was blank. Her gaze shifted to Ding Yue.
“Sis, sis!” Ding Yue immediately jumped back three meters in alarm, clutching his head in despair.
“I didn’t insult you! I never expected this bitch to be so cunning!”
“Who knew you’d be this bitch’s sister?”
“Shut up. Don’t let me hear another word from you,” Ding Bai gritted her teeth, madness flickering in her eyes.
Taking one look at her expression, Ding Yue instantly fell silent in fear.
Ding Moyan lowered her head slightly, feigning weariness. She stared at her toes and sighed heavily before patting Ding Bai’s shoulder with exaggerated solemnity.
“Little sister, hurry up and help bail me and Ding Yue out. The family’s honor now rests on you.”
Her words dripped with thinly veiled threats. Ding Bai’s face darkened right now, she didn’t just want to kill Ding Moyan. She wanted to slaughter her own brother along with her.
“Ding Bai.” Yu Sisi was the first to grab her, silently warning her not to ruin their plans over a moment of rage.
Ding Bai’s expression remained icy. After a moment of contemplation, she steadied her turbulent emotions and went to negotiate with the female officer herself.
Ding Yue stepped aside for his sister, shrinking against a cabinet as he silently cursed Ding Moyan in his heart.
After all the procedures were completed, Ding Moyan stretched her shoulders, planning to return to the dormitory to rest and recover the energy she had expended beating someone up today.
“Want to grab a meal together? I know there are lots of delicious places on this street, and sweet milk tea too, you’d definitely like it,” Ye Ye said, clinging to Ding Bai’s arm as she turned to wink at Ding Moyan.
She smiled as if they were the best of friends.
Ding Moyan scoffed inwardly but maintained a calm expression as she declined, “No need, I’ve already eaten.”
Ding Bai snorted coldly and continued walking toward the police station entrance.
“Wait.”
Ding Bai stopped but didn’t turn around.
“Mo Yan wants to eat with us after all!” Ye Ye exclaimed, overjoyed.
Ding Moyan glanced at her briefly before pointing at Ding Yue, who was dawdling in his seat, and kindly reminded, “Ding Bai, aren’t you taking your brother home?”
Ding Bai didn’t respond, but Ye Ye answered for her.
“Ding Yue!” Ye Ye turned slightly and pouted as she asked him, “Do you need Bai Bai to take you back to the main residence?”
“N-no, I can go back by myself,” Ding Yue stammered, breaking out in a cold sweat, his eyes wide with fear as he waved his hands frantically.
Back in the dormitory, Ding Moyan set down the bag of snacks she had bought from the supermarket.
“Ding Moyan,” Wang Ye called out from across the table. She looked up from her tablet and turned to face Ding Moyan.
“Hmm? What is it, Wang Ye?”
Wang Ye slid the tablet over to Ding Moyan.
Ding Moyan let out a soft “Hmm” as she took the tablet. The screen displayed the Engineering Institute’s official forum, where the top trending post was no longer about her entering the President’s office. This time, it had been replaced with: “Let’s Talk About the Suffering the President Endured from That Powerful Alpha.”
The content included photos of her beating up Ding Yue, along with images of her visiting the President’s office the day before.
Accompanying the pictures were some melodramatic words, each phrase seemingly written to lament the President’s grievances, how she had endured so much to prevent Ding Moyan from harming others, while also boasting about the President’s prowess.
[Is this really, really Ding Moyan???]
[Oh my god! Tian Tian, what am I seeing? Mo Beauty is so fierce! Exactly like the Alpha of my dreams.]
[What kind of eyes do you have, second floor? Don’t you think she’s way too violent? This brutal female Alpha.]
[Third floor must be some idiot Alpha. Do you think Mo Mo’s fan club doesn’t exist? Watch me summon the President to deal with you.]
[Honestly, the fact that the President can handle Ding Moyan really shows how amazing she is.]
Ding Moyan scrolled through the forum, her eyes narrowing in disbelief. The rumors were getting more and more absurd.
Lost in thought, she found the 99+ notifications amusing especially when she stumbled upon another fanfiction about her and the President. Unable to resist her curiosity, she clicked on it again.
This time, what she found was even more shocking. The story depicted her as someone who was tough and ruthless to the outside world but reduced to a whimpering mess in private.
Ding Moyan muttered under her breath, “Tsk, this ‘whimpering’ description makes me sound like an Omega.”
“Whimpering?” Ding Moyan blinked and accidentally said it aloud.
Wang Ye was stunned.
Ding Moyan shook the tablet lightly. “Saw an interesting post and picked up a few phrases.”
“Here you go.”
Fortunately, Wang Ye didn’t dwell too much on the “whimpering” comment. She took the tablet back and stammered, “D-Ding Moyan, did you reallyhit someone today?”
At the question, Ding Moyan tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “The beating part is true. The rumors are false.”
“Ah, why?” Wang Ye’s brows suddenly furrowed. She couldn’t believe that the friendly Ding Moyan before her could be the violent female Alpha described online.
“Because she’s a big bully who specializes in picking on Omegas and Betas.” Ding Moyan drew out her words, gradually leaning closer, a hint of mischief flashing in her eyes. “Aren’t you scared of someone as violent as me?”
Wang Ye’s face flushed red, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it might leap out of her throat. With their faces so close, she could almost feel Ding Moyan’s breath brushing against her skin.
“Your face is so red.” Ding Moyan feigned confusion, then suddenly parted her lips. Deliberately lowering her voice, she whispered close to Wang Ye’s ear, “Could it be, Wang Wang likes me?”
