- Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée
- Chapter 72 - Failed Auction
When Yu Ke found Jenny, she was undergoing a second failed auction in the underground market of the Persian Gulf.
The chaotic underground market was packed with species from various planets and of all skin colors, giants, furry beings, reptilians, and people of all shapes and sizes. The air was thick with the smell of sweat, Alpha pheromones, and all kinds of stench. People were shouting excitedly in different planetary languages, while poor Jenny was confined in a cage, placed on a platform for everyone to see.
Jenny kept her head down, revealing only the lower half of her face. Yu Ke recognized her instantly from that partial view, and in that moment, it felt as if her heart had been violently wrenched. She was desperate to rescue Jenny.
Jenny wore nothing but a pair of white shorts. Her hair had grown much longer, enough to cover her chest, but from certain angles, it was lethally seductive. Under the spotlight, her fair skin was irresistibly alluring, making the bidders below drool.
In the eyes of these alien beings, Jenny was like a beautiful doll. Her beauty was universally acknowledged across the stars; even reptilians, despite reproductive barriers, wanted to buy her and keep this exquisite doll at home for admiration.
Amid the noise, a giant sneezed, creating a gust of wind that stirred Jenny’s hair. The crowd erupted in even more excited cheers.
“Such a beautiful Omega, surrounded by so many Alphas, how can she remain unmoved?” Yu Ke overheard someone behind her say.
“The higher-grade the Omega, the harder it is to tempt them. Look at her, as still as an ice sculpture. If I were in her place, I’d have been scared out of my wits.”
“How could such a high-grade Omega end up with a failed auction?”
“No one dares to bid! An Omega of this caliber is beyond the means of ordinary people. Those who can afford her wouldn’t dare to bid either, because she’s a witch. Not long ago, she caused trouble, and All-Free even issued a bounty for her!”
Hearing this, Yu Ke glanced at Annie with mixed emotions.
Annie shrugged. “Don’t blame me. I had no idea she’d be auctioned off.”
Yu Ke took a soft, pained breath, her heart aching as she watched the figure on the platform.
Poor Jenny. If only Yu Ke had taken her away from Ferrari back then, she wouldn’t have ended up in this situation.
The auctioneer was a noble from the Persian Empire. Dressed impeccably in fine white silk, he was engaged in the filthiest of deeds.
“Up for auction today is a slave from the Alpha star system. Her identity is that of a witch, born on the Planet Green Water. As everyone knows, Green Water no longer exists, making her the last witch from that planet. The starting bid is 2 billion. Everyone, bid within your means. If no one bids today, she will be handed over to the royal family for their… enjoyment,” the noble said in what he thought was a humorous tone.
The mention of 2 billion stunned everyone present.
“2 billion is enough to buy an entire planet! The starting bid is absurdly high! No one can afford that!”
“That’s why I said bid within your means,” the noble replied with a smug smile. “Just because you can’t afford it doesn’t mean others can’t. This is the last witch from Green Water, she’s a collector’s item.”
The auction hall packed with alien creatures suddenly fell silent. It seemed most attendees were deterred by the starting bid price.
After roughly three minutes, the auctioneer announced, “The starting bid is 2 billion. Any takers?”
Amid the silence, Yu Ke raised her hand and declared in her clear, steady voice, “I bid.”
As soon as the words left her lips, Yu Ke saw Jenny abruptly lift her head behind the iron bars, their eyes meeting unexpectedly.
A flicker of panic flashed in Jenny’s distinct black-and-white eyes, but it quickly settled into composure, even carrying a hint of unexpected pride. This allowed her to stand tall and unbothered by the stares of countless beasts surrounding her.
Yu Ke was certain that only Jenny could carry herself with such poise.
After the transaction was completed, Jenny was groomed and delivered to Yu Ke. When they finally had a chance to speak, Jenny had returned to her usual demeanor. She sported a sharp bob haircut, wore high heels, and was dressed meticulously in a PU leather jacket paired with a leather skirt. Her expression was gentle, her words concise, exactly as Yu Ke had known her from the beginning.
It was as if nothing had changed; she was still the clever and beautiful maid by Yu Ke’s side.
After twists and turns, traveling from one distant galaxy to another, Jenny had become the only familiar face around Yu Ke.
Yu Ke’s feelings were complicated, but more than reflecting on these emotions, she was concerned about what Jenny had been through.
“You scared me,” Yu Ke said, lowering her eyelids as she gazed at her. “How did this happen?”
“Your Highness, I apologize,” Jenny replied expressionlessly. “Things spiraled out of my control, but I’m glad it was you who won the bid.”
Yu Ke said, “I heard from All-Free that you were sent to the Persian Gulf faction. Jenny, did you steal something for Lan Xing? How did you get involved with them?”
Yu Ke kept her tone as gentle as possible, unable to bring herself to scold Jenny.
Calmly, Jenny responded, “May I ask first, Your Highness, how did you become involved with All-Free?”
Before Yu Ke could answer, Annie, standing nearby, laughed scornfully. “Little thing, don’t forget you were bought for 2 billion. Who do you think you are, speaking to your master like that?”
Though Jenny stood at 170cm in heels, in the eyes of the over-two-meter-tall mermaid warrior, she was indeed a “little thing.”
Yu Ke glanced at Annie, thinking, She’s my maid, who are you to discipline her?
But Jenny showed no intention of being chastised. She retorted, “I heard you advocate for class equality, the abolition of slavery, and cracking down on human trafficking. Yet, listening to your words just now, you showed no sympathy for the injustice I suffered. Instead, you used the master-servant hierarchy to suppress me. Where is the revolutionary spirit in that? Could it be that your usual slogans are empty rhetoric, deceiving the masses and inciting proletarian emotions while actually promoting terrorist tactics?”
Annie’s mouth twisted to one side. She hadn’t expected Jenny to be so articulate, leaving her speechless and humiliated in front of Yu Ke.
Yu Ke couldn’t help but laugh. Annie complained to Yu Ke with a grievance, “Your Highness, aren’t you going to discipline your little… little one? I say one thing to her, and she retorts with ten, practically tearing down every step I take. Does she usually treat you this way?”
Yu Ke replied, “She doesn’t usually treat me like this.”
A hint of pride flickered across Jenny’s face at Yu Ke’s praise.
Seeing this, Annie was momentarily speechless before letting out a mocking laugh. “You seem quite pleased with yourself, acting as if nothing happened after suffering such a great loss.”
The mermaid’s tone carried a subtle emotion, but Jenny, being a witch, was more sensitive to such nuances than most. She glanced at Annie, whose radiant smile left Jenny momentarily dazed.
During her time in the Persian Empire, Jenny had indeed endured many hardships. If it weren’t for the need to preserve her purity to fetch a higher price at auction, she might have suffered unspeakable violations.
Strangely, the mermaid’s words carried a soothing tone, as if Jenny were merely a wayward child who had returned home to be comforted.
Jenny knew it was just the mermaid’s trickery. Ignoring Annie, she lifted her face to Yu Ke and said expressionlessly, “Your Highness, are you still determined to find Lan Xing?”
Yu Ke nodded solemnly.
Jenny asked, “Is she that important to you?”
Yu Ke nodded again. “To me, she is more important than anything else.”
Jenny slowly lowered her eyelids. Even though she already knew the answer, a sliver of hope stubbornly lingered. She said, “Do you know how many opportunities you’ve lost because of Lan Xing?”
Yu Ke replied, “I know.”
A layer of frost seemed to form over Jenny’s heart. She fell silent, lost in thought.
A seductive laugh reached her ears. Jenny looked up and saw Annie watching her with amusement. Their eyes met, and Annie chuckled softly, “Poor little witch, are you disappointed?”
Jenny felt a surge of anger and glared at Annie, but instead of being provoked, Annie blew her a kiss.
What an utterly detestable mermaid, just as hateful as that wretched Lan Xing.
Jenny’s eyes reddened slightly, but Yu Ke remained oblivious to her emotions. She pressed on, “Jenny, answer my question. Why did you help Lan Xing steal?”
Why did she help Lan Xing steal?
Because… she wanted to see you.
As long as it involved Lan Xing, you would surely come, and then there would be a chance to see you again.
Jenny lowered her gaze, recalling her conversation with Lan Xing, and shook her head silently in her heart.
Some things, she still wasn’t willing to tell Her Highness.
“Your Highness,” the mermaid’s melodious voice interrupted the two. “She’s tired. Let her rest first. You can question her later.”
Yu Ke looked at Jenny for a long moment before closing her eyes and nodding.
