- Chapter 52 - Loyalty
How had things come to this?
Yu Ke couldn’t understand. Her mind was in chaos, one moment she saw Jenny’s slightly youthful face, the next the image of Jenny unbuttoning her clothes and letting her touch. These scenes jumbled together, interspersed with flashes of her first encounter with Lan Xing…
Just like now, the air thick with the sweet scent of an Omega’s pheromones, the female form stimulating her nerves. At that time, she couldn’t resist marking the vulnerable Omega woman.
Jenny’s palm touched Yu Ke’s cheek. Gently cradling her face, Jenny lowered her head, strands of hair brushing against Yu Ke’s skin before landing a soft kiss on her lips.
Yu Ke’s breath hitched, momentarily unsure how to react. She remained still, feeling Jenny’s lips touch and withdraw like a dragonfly skimming the water.
“Don’t do this, Jenny,” Yu Ke inhaled sharply, “This hurts me more than killing me.”
“You shouldn’t think that way, Your Highness,” Jenny stroked her face calmly, “The day I presented as an Omega, I decided this course of action. I presented due to your pheromones, no one but you can mark me.”
Yu Ke’s wrists remained shackled, unable to break free as Jenny’s pheromones intoxicated her step by step.
Who would have thought this aloof, unapproachable maid would possess such rich, sweet pheromones?
Like ripe cherries falling from trees in a summer orchard, sticking to muddy ground and branches, even the air seemed distilled with cherry juice. The fruity fragrance carried subtle notes of wine and indescribable aromatics, likely certain aromatic compounds adding layers of mystery to this cherry-dominated pheromone.
She discarded her clothes onto the floor, leaving only knee-high boots. Embracing Yu Ke’s neck, she sat boldly on her lap. This female Omega had fully entered estrus, her movements so practiced it was hard to believe this was her first experience.
Guided by her, the pheromones in Yu Ke’s glands erupted like a volcano, releasing uncontrollably.
“I shall forever remember this scent.” Jenny lay against Yu Ke, her voice tinged with inexplicable excitement, a rare display for someone usually so composed. Unbuttoning Yu Ke’s blouse, she took a deep breath against her neck and remarked, “Vanilla mint… more intense than usual today, Your Highness… Don’t tell me you never have opportunities for release normally?”
Yu Ke exhaled slowly, a hint of provocation in her tone: “Can’t you read minds? Cut out my heart and see then you’ll know everything.”
Jenny paused, pressing closer to whisper, “I don’t need to do that, Your Highness.”
“Indeed you don’t,” Yu Ke gritted her teeth, spitting out each word resentfully, “You don’t even need to care about my thoughts. When you said everything you do is for my sake, I nearly laughed.”
After a moment’s silence, Jenny responded: “Your Royal Highness.”
“You don’t need to address me that way,” Yu Ke took a sharp breath, lowering her gaze to the floor as she said, “I’ve already left the Kingdom of Ferrari, and you are no longer my maid.”
“You could return to seize power,” Jenny’s eyes grew more resolute. “Your Highness, the Crown Prince’s abilities are far inferior to yours. The only reason he hasn’t fallen from power since taking the throne is sheer luck.”
Luck? Or is it the protagonist’s halo?
Yu Ke remained silent. Jenny gently touched her chin while discussing politics. “The situation in Ferrari is unstable now. The Crown Prince just took out a large loan. If things don’t improve, he might not be able to repay it by next year.”
Yu Ke smiled faintly. “What does that have to do with me?”
“You have funds at your disposal,” Jenny said. “You could become the savior of the Kingdom of Ferrari. Don’t you want to replace the Crown Prince?”
Gradually, every word Jenny spoke began to irritate Yu Ke. Wherever Jenny’s skin touched hers, every pore seemed to contract, and even the bewitched glands shriveled during their conversation.
The scent of pheromones in the air grew fainter. Jenny noticed this and, lacking any experience, began to panic. She fumbled over Yu Ke’s body, urgently kissing her lips, eager to complete the marking.
Yu Ke’s eyes reddened as she coldly stared at the woman before her, her lips pressed into a tight line, remaining silent.
“Your Highness?” Jenny lay across her lap, looking up at her. “Don’t you like this?”
“You’re a witch. You can clearly see what I’m thinking, so why bother asking?” Yu Ke said indifferently.
“You know, except for that last time, I’ve never used witchcraft on you,” Jenny moistened her throat. “I only did it then to help you.”
Yu Ke continued to stare coldly, her scrutinizing gaze making Jenny uncomfortable.
After a moment, Yu Ke said, “Put your clothes on.”
Though reluctant, Jenny complied. Years of habit made it impossible for her to disobey Yu Ke’s commands.
Even now, when their roles had completely reversed, with Yu Ke becoming her captive.
Jenny had learned to read people’s expressions since childhood, especially after following the original host. Often, just a glance from the original host would tell her what to do.
Now, no matter how confused she was, she could tell that Yu Ke was extremely angry.
This time, however, Jenny didn’t quite understand the reason for Yu Ke’s anger.
She interpreted Yu Ke’s comment, “You can read my mind,” as words spoken in pique.
Jenny stood up, picked up her clothes from the floor, dressed quickly, and turned to leave.
Yu Ke called out to stop her. Jenny paused for a moment but didn’t look back, instead quickening her pace and leaving.
Left alone, Yu Ke finally breathed a sigh of relief.
To her, she couldn’t comprehend what was happening at all.
The imprint of Jenny’s kiss still lingered on her lips, the warmth she left behind not yet faded.
Jenny was probably toying with her, humiliating her in this way. What Yu Ke couldn’t accept the most was her own betrayal of Lan Xing.
Along this journey, Yu Ke had boarded the Princess, come to Datianxi, met many interesting people, and learned to open her heart to others. But when it came to Jenny, she was completely at a loss.
She couldn’t boss Jenny around like the original owner did, besides, it was unclear whether that approach would even work on Jenny. Nor could she accept having physical intimacy with Jenny, let alone mark her… That would shatter her, because neither she nor Lan Xing had completed a permanent bond.
Lan Xing’s health issues had prevented her from going into heat smoothly for a long time. Yu Ke’s wish was to wait until Lan Xing recovered, propose to her, and then mark her properly.
She couldn’t bear the thought of being unfaithful to her partner. Just imagining it made her feel as if her heart were stuffed with cotton, heavy and suffocating.
In her childhood memories, her father and mother were always busy with their own affairs. Her mother was occupied with flaunting their wealth in her social circle, while her father traveled the world with different women.
She had observed that her mother wasn’t unaware of her father’s affairs, but she always pretended not to know. At family gatherings and various social events, they still played the role of a loving couple.
She had thought only her parents were like this, but later in life, she witnessed countless couples breaking up and getting back together, with betrayal and infidelity becoming commonplace. Among them were elders and mentors she respected, social elites, celebrities, and even her own relatives and friends…
Perhaps it was because, after gaining wealth and power, admirers surrounded them like flies, making emotions as cheap as clothing, easily discarded and replaced. So, most people took it lightly, even openly advocating such a lifestyle.
Yu Ke couldn’t be like them. She always believed that loyalty was a noble quality that should never be abandoned. She would rather remain single forever, but once she committed to a relationship, it meant mutual fidelity.
Such things, however, often came with risks. Just moments ago, for instance, she had been aroused by Jenny’s pheromones.
Yu Ke sighed, pushing aside her earlier thoughts, and began to focus on finding ways to unlock the handcuffs.
She peeled a thorn from the armrest of the chair and tried inserting it into the keyhole of the handcuffs, but each attempt failed. Before long, Jenny returned.
Yu Ke could tell at a glance that she had been crying, the corners of her eyes were red, and her voice sounded damp and soft as she spoke.
“Your Highness, are you returning to Gana?”
Yu Ke was momentarily stunned. Jenny approached, took out a key, and unlocked the handcuffs. She said, “This version of Isabelle is just computer data with her personality and consciousness. By destroying the control room, you’ve effectively destroyed this Isabelle to some extent, but for the real Isabelle, she hasn’t lost anything.”
“Do you know where the real Isabelle is?” Yu Ke grabbed her hand and asked.
“No,” Jenny avoided her touch and replied coldly, “I don’t know any more than you do. She only found us a week ago.”
“Us?” Yu Ke frowned slightly. “Jenny, are you working for the Queen now, or have you changed employers?”
Jenny lifted her face, her dark eyes gazing at Yu Ke calmly as she stated, “After you left the Ferrari Palace, the Queen, to deal with the Jingba Pirates, mortgaged me to them as a witch on the condition that I find you and recover the money.”
Yu Ke was taken aback. She asked, “Then you’re now…”
“Until that money is recovered, I remain a slave,” Jenny said. “But fortunately, my current employer does not mistreat me.”
Yu Ke’s emotions were incredibly complex. “If you hand me over to your employer, can you regain your status as a free citizen?”
Jenny’s lips curved slightly. “I won’t do that, Your Highness.”
Yu Ke let out a soft sigh. “I’m the one who caused this, aren’t I?”
“Your decision was beyond my expectations, completely different from the person I once knew. I couldn’t understand it at first,” Jenny lowered her head and calmly confessed. “But the initial mistake was mine. I took it upon myself to steal your pheromones, thinking it would help you win the Princess Lan Xing. The outcome, however, was far from ideal.”
Yu Ke didn’t know what to say. Reflecting on the incident, she attributed the root cause to Queen Jiao’s schemes, so when she took the forty billion in assets, she felt no guilt.
Even now, she still believed Queen Jiao deserved to pay for her foolish actions.
But Jenny shouldn’t have been treated this way. The original host had once promised Jenny that after seizing the throne of Ferrari, she would track down the pirates who invaded the Green Water Planet and avenge the destruction of Jenny’s homeland.
Who could have imagined that instead of Yu Ke fulfilling her promise, Jenny would be sold to a group of pirates by the Queen? Was there anything more absurd than that?
Yu Ke wanted to help her, but for now… she still had many things to do.
Where is the escort ship now? Are the people from Datianxi safe? Yu Ke pressed her lips together. “Jenny, I’m sorry, but I truly need your help right now.”
A glimmer of light shone in Jenny’s eyes. “After the control room was destroyed, we lost track of the frigate’s location.” In an hour, we will evacuate from here, and the frigate will come to pick you up.”
“Alright. Regarding the clone data, Isabelle still has backups. Destroying the control room here won’t stop her,” Jenny looked at her calmly. “But, Your Highness, I have another piece of information that might help you.”
Yu Ke: “I’m all ears.”
“The Rum family is planning a major move, an attempt to assassinate the Prime Minister,” Jenny said softly, word by word. “If this is exposed in time, the Rum family can be completely eliminated. By then, your clone child will no longer be under threat.”
Yu Ke’s eyes widened in sheer admiration. “How do you know so many crucial pieces of information?!”
Jenny remained unassuming, true to her consistently aloof demeanor. Her lips moved slightly as she replied nonchalantly, “The Jingba pirates have ties with the Rum family and have been tracking your whereabouts.” We’ve also looked into the child you’re concerned about.”
Yu Ke said, “It seems your current employer trusts you a great deal.”
Jenny ‘s expression shifted slightly. After a pause, she said, “If possible, I would still prefer to be marked by you.”
Yu Ke was speechless.
She thought about Jenny’s current situation and grew increasingly distressed.
Hesitating for a moment, she asked, “Has your employer ever forced you?”
Jenny replied, “Your Highness, that doesn’t seem like something you should concern yourself with.”
Yu Ke sighed softly. “Jenny, at the very least, you were once my maid. Is it wrong for me to care about you?”
“But you won’t even mark me,” Jenny emphasized with a sharper tone. “Your Highness, this is all the information I can share with you. Please take care of yourself.”
