- Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée
- Chapter 50 - Detonation
That hesitant utterance of “Princess Lan Xing” solidified Yu Ke’s certainty, the person before her was indeed the same maid who had once attended to her every need, from dressing her to managing her daily meals and routines.
Yu Ke’s emotions swung like a pendulum. Recalling that the Jingba Pirates had previously struck deals with Queen Jiao, and given that Jenny was working under the queen’s orders, it made some sense for Jenny to appear within the pirate ranks.
But… Yu Ke remembered that Jenny’s home planet, Green Water, had been ravaged by pirates. In that brutal invasion, her homeland was shattered into cosmic dust. She should despise pirates, so why would she align herself with the Jingba Pirates?
Yu Ke couldn’t determine whether Jenny was friend or foe now, but she vividly recalled how, months ago in the Ferrari Palace, she had righteously expelled Jenny, forcing the poor maid to seek another path. Even when dealing with Xiao Nan, who had repeatedly betrayed her, Yu Ke had never been so harsh.
Now, disguised as Lan Xing, Yu Ke watched Jenny’s sudden appearance and curled her lips coldly. She felt absurd, her emotions tangled beyond measure.
If not for Jenny’s address of “Princess Lan Xing,” she might already have been shot dead by the pirates.
Yet Jenny must have recognized her. Omegas were highly sensitive to Alpha pheromones, the moment Jenny saw Yu Ke, she had identified her by scent.
Compared to months ago, Jenny now radiated charm. Having matured into a perfect Omega, her captivating aura as she walked past the pirates was nearly maddening.
She stepped closer, halting before Yu Ke, her expression unreadable. Lifting her eyelids slightly, she said coldly, “Isabelle sent me to fetch you. You arrived earlier than expected.”
A flicker of emotion crossed Yu Ke’s face as she uttered her name: “Jenny.”
A glimmer sparked in Jenny’s dark, luminous eyes. She leaned in slightly and whispered near Yu Ke’s ear, “Your colored contacts are beautiful.”
Yu Ke wore blue contacts, the shade of glacial ice, a hue found only in the rarest, untrodden icy wilderness.
Her makeup was masterfully applied, almost giving her a new face. To those unfamiliar with Lan Xing, it was easy to mistake her for the princess.
“Follow me inside,” Jenny straightened her posture. Her tall boots with slender heels made her 160-centimeter frame carry the presence of someone 180 centimeters tall. Turning her head, she commanded the surrounding pirates, “Continue patrols. Leave no suspicious aircraft unchecked.”
The pirates obeyed her completely, opening the door for her to lead Yu Ke into the weapons facility.
“Why are you here?” Yu Ke asked urgently once inside. “What is your relationship with Isabelle?”
“Your Highness, this facility has over 400 surveillance cameras. Isabelle is closely monitoring your every word and action,” Jenny reminded her.
Yu Ke fell silent. Lowering her head, she continued playing the role of Lan Xing, following Jenny into a sealed room before Jenny shut the door and left.
Time crawled by. Yu Ke remained alert, needing to track the hours and maintain her disguise under surveillance to fully deceive Isabelle.
She was certain her plan was working.
As long as Isabelle herself did not appear in person, merely relying on video footage, she couldn’t fully confirm Yu Ke’s identity.
Yu Ke could imitate Lan Xing’s demeanor and mannerisms. Having spent a long time with Lan Xing, she was intimately familiar with her behavioral patterns. Moreover, it seemed Jenny was secretly covering for her.
The plan appeared to be progressing smoothly. The next day, Yu Ke followed Jenny into another room. This new room was equipped with a massage chair, air conditioning, snacks, drinks, and even a small pool, seemingly “meticulously” prepared for Lan Xing.
However, the snacks laid out were nothing more than a pile of fish bait, reeking of the foul, fishy odor of spoiled shrimp. As for the pool, it looked like stagnant, unwashed water from a dilapidated swimming pool, with a pungent smell of disinfectant so overpowering it made Yu Ke nauseous.
But she did not lose her composure. Just like Lan Xing, she would never show any sign of being flustered, no matter the circumstances.
Yu Ke concealed her intense disgust and sat down with the grace of a princess, touching nothing, eating nothing, and quietly waiting.
Jenny observed her, frowning slightly. After a while, she left, closing the door behind her.
The room was equipped with at least four cameras, making any notion of privacy impossible once locked inside.
Yu Ke never ate, nor did she feel the need to use the restroom. She didn’t sleep either, merely resting with her eyes closed.
Isabelle watched her through the cameras. After about half an hour, her voice emerged from a speaker in the wall. She couldn’t resist saying, “There are drinks in the room. You can have some.”
Yu Ke shook her head. Isabelle asked, “Not to your taste?”
“I don’t care for this, thank you,” Yu Ke cleared her throat. “When do you plan to come out and see me?”
“Be patient. I need to resolve a minor issue,” Isabelle’s youthful voice replied leisurely. “You’ve come all this way, why would I let your trip be in vain?”
“My patience is limited,” Yu Ke said gently. “You called me here, saying you could help me rescue the cloned children. I hope you’ll honor your word, Isabelle.”
“Of course,” Isabelle said. “I wouldn’t toy with you for no reason.”
“That sounds rather odd coming from you,” Yu Ke frowned slightly. She didn’t elaborate further, as saying too much could easily expose her identity.
But she felt… this Isabelle seemed different from before. It was as if… something was missing, though Yu Ke couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Another hour passed, and Jenny brought her food.
It was a plate of what appeared to be Spanish-style fried rice, coated with egg and cheese, exuding a rich seafood aroma. The most striking detail was the sprinkle of chopped scallions on top, those emerald-green, crystal-clear bits instantly transformed the dish, infusing it with a distinct Chinese flair.
“Jenny, did you make this?” Yu Ke asked her.
Jenny remained expressionless, her voice cold. “Chopsticks or a spoon?”
Yu Ke wanted chopsticks, but to better fit Lan Xing’s persona, she requested a spoon.
After taking a few small bites, Yu Ke set the spoon down. The areas she had touched on the plate remained neat and orderly, she was always mindful of etiquette and restrained in her eating.
Jenny stood by, waiting for her to finish the meal. Once done, she cleared the plate without a word and left, closing the door behind her.
“The fried rice is truly delicious,” Yu Ke clasped her hands together in gratitude and said, “Thank you, Jenny.”
Jenny froze for a moment, said nothing, and walked away in her high heels.
If it were the Princess herself, she would never utter words of thanks. But now, she was playing the role of Lan Xing, so after the meal, she didn’t forget to express her gratitude.
Truly worthy of the Princess, even her acting is flawless. With that thought, Jenny carried the plate and left the room.
“You are very polite, my dear little princess,” Isabelle’s voice came from the wall, her slightly sticky tone soft and low. “As a lover, you are truly perfect.”
“Isabelle,” Yu Ke looked straight ahead, paused, and said, “This time, have you encountered some obstacles?”
Isabelle remained silent for a moment before letting out a light laugh. “Darling, what kind of obstacles are you referring to?”
“You contacted the Rum family and gave Ivan that important document about clones. Why then contact me and do these contradictory things?” Yu Ke moistened her throat. “I find your appearance and actions this time very strange.”
“Do you find it contradictory?”
“Extremely contradictory, Isabelle. Have you not fully adapted to your new body yet?” Yu Ke pursed her lips. “Are you… not yet ready to see me?”
“Why would you think that, my dear little princess?” Isabelle said. “Did Jenny say something to you, didn’t she? I knew it, she is completely untrustworthy.”
“She said nothing,” Yu Ke curved her lips into a smile. “I’m just worried about you, so my thoughts went in that direction.”
“Wait a little longer, my dear princess,” Isabelle’s voice gradually faded. “Once I’ve handled the matters at hand…”
Yu Ke lowered her eyelids and remained silent.
In truth, she didn’t think her acting was particularly outstanding, but Isabelle had completely mistaken her for Lan Xing.
The reasons for this outcome could be one of the following:
First, Isabelle suffers from severe face blindness, and Yu Ke’s makeup was so exquisitely applied that it completely deceived Isabelle.
Second, although Isabelle has been reborn, her memories and data haven’t fully integrated into her new body. She may have lost specific data about Lan Xing’s characteristics.
Third, Isabelle did not successfully resurrect, and the one currently speaking with Yu Ke is merely an AI endowed with Isabelle’s personality, possibly to stall her.
Yu Ke was increasingly leaning toward the latter two possibilities. She speculated that even if Isabelle’s memories and data had been transferred, the new Isabelle was still different from the previous one. She might have certain deficiencies and seemed… rather foolish.
As for this mission, Yu Ke already felt confident of success.
“Your companions are still lingering nearby. They’ve been harassing us like flies, disgusting,” Isabelle’s tone grew impatient. “Lan Xing, how many companions and how many ships have you brought with you?”
Yu Ke looked toward the camera. “Can’t you locate them?”
Her words carried a hint of provocation and mockery. Isabelle let out a light hum. “It’s been so hot lately…”
So hot?
What did that have to do with her inability to locate the escort ships?
“I’m not interested in them. If I’m guessing correctly, your people must include Princess Yu Ke, right?”
Yu Ke pursed her lips. Upon hearing the name “Yu Ke,” she showed signs of concern.
“Your reaction is exactly as I imagined. If I kill Yu Ke, will you pledge your complete loyalty to me? My dear princess?”
“You won’t kill her,” Yu Ke said. “You can’t do it.”
“You’re provoking me, my dear princess. I must say, your words have truly offended me,” Isabelle fumed. “They’re just a few flies. I’ll go catch them right now! Jilly, cool me down first, damn it… Why is it so hot?!”
Isabelle grew increasingly agitated. “I’ll send someone to catch those disgusting flies… Jilly, cool me down first…”
Like a power cord suddenly being unplugged, Isabelle’s voice abruptly vanished, leaving Yu Ke replaying their conversation in her mind over and over.
What did “cool down” mean? What was really happening to Isabelle now?
Yu Ke tried to glean more information from her words. She sat motionless in her chair, fully focused, her thoughts racing incessantly. Two hours later, her face turned pale, and she began convulsing and vomiting…
Almost simultaneously, hurried footsteps echoed outside the door. The door was slammed open, and two guards rushed in with a medical kit to check her condition.
Yu Ke collapsed against one of the guards, seizing the opportunity to snatch the knife from his waist. With a swift motion, she stabbed the first guard in the abdomen, then spun around and slit the other guard’s throat.
Blood sprayed everywhere. Yu Ke dodged the splatter and quickly left the room, showing no signs of weakness.
Everything that had just happened was an act.
She heard Isabelle’s panicked voice behind her: “Lan Xing?”
Yu Ke ignored her. Clutching the knife, she moved as if intimately familiar with the weapon factory’s layout, evading the pirates’ pursuit. She appeared at the elevator one moment and on the third floor the next. With ease, she found the control room on the third floor, killed the pirate at the door, and seized his machine gun. She fired relentlessly at the steel door “bang, bang, bang, bang” until the steel plate exploded.
As the dust settled, the room’s interior was fully revealed. Rows of large computers, arranged like machine tools, stood before her. These computers looked ancient, emitting the scent of metal evaporating under high heat. Despite several fans circulating air, the temperature inside remained unbearably hot.
The pirates sprang into action, running frantically through the three-story factory, guns in hand, shouting:
“She’s in the control room! Hurry to the control room!”
“What is she trying to do?! Stop her!”
“The mainframe is in danger! All our data is in the control room! She took a gun! She’s armed!”
The Jingba pirates were in chaos. Their main forces had been dispatched to pursue the escort ships outside, leaving only a handful behind. Amid the crowd, Yu Ke heard Isabelle’s voice, shouting:
“Stop her!”
“Where are our people?! Haven’t they returned yet?!”
“Lan Xing, Lan Xing, put down the gun. Let’s talk this through!”
“Can’t you see? I’m not Lan Xing at all,” Yu Ke retorted, holding the gun while freeing a hand to tear off her golden wig and toss it aside.
“……”
“Ah, what on earth is going on?”
“She’s not Princess Lan Xing? Go find Jenny, she deceived us?!”
“Kill her, kill her now!” Isabelle’s voice grew distorted amidst the gunfire, like a blade scraping across a chalkboard, leaving behind a grating screech.
Yu Ke fired a shot that blasted a computer to pieces, flames leaping out from the machine. As she aimed to fire a second shot, the surrounding people rushed to stop her. Under a hail of bullets, Yu Ke destroyed a second computer.
“Stop her!” Isabelle screamed frantically. “Stop her, save me! Now!”
“Too late,” Yu Ke said expressionlessly as she walked toward the rows of machines. “Isabelle, when you lured Lan Xing here to find you, you didn’t expect to pay with your life again, did you?”
“No, you can’t kill me,” Isabelle’s voice trembled with panic. “What’s going on? You’re Yu Ke, you deceived me from the very beginning!”
“Where are your people? All chasing the escort ship? How foolish,” Yu Ke glanced contemptuously at the pirates closing in. “There are fewer than ten people here. I can take them all out in five minutes.”
“Your goal is the clone data, I can destroy it for you right now!” Isabelle shrieked. “Don’t destroy this place! My most important hard drive is still here!”
Yu Ke had no intention of negotiating. She raised her gun and, without another word, unleashed a barrage of bullets at the encircling pirates. The rounds tore into walls and floors, piercing the pirates’ hearts. In an instant, blood and flesh flew everywhere. Relying on her agility, Yu Ke wiped out nearly all the pirates in the weapons factory in an astonishingly short time.
She contacted Zhang Jun via her communicator. “Hey.”
“Sister A’Ke!” Zhang Jun’s voice was frantic with worry. “Are you okay?! We’re on our way to rescue you!”
“How is Xing’er?” Yu Ke asked softly, cradling her machine gun.
“Sister, I’m fine. We’re trying to lure the pirates away,” Lan Xing relayed urgently. “They can’t catch up to us. Remus has also sent a message. Sister, wait for us, we’re coming to get you right away!”
“Mm, okay,” Yu Ke’s tone was incredibly gentle. “Xing’er, Isabelle can’t hurt you. As long as I’m here, no one can harm you.”
Lan Xing let out a cheerful “Mm!” Her voice was crisp and bright, like a child’s, and she laughed.
That radiant happiness was like a dazzling star, shining brilliantly even from tens of thousands of light-years away.
A faint smile touched Yu Ke’s lips. Just as she was about to fire at the control room, someone several meters away moved faster, a tranquilizer dart pierced through the swirling dust and struck the back of her neck.
Yu Ke’s consciousness faded, and she staggered, collapsing to the ground. Isabelle, as if granted a reprieve, cried out eagerly, “Jenny, well done! I knew you wouldn’t disappoint!”
Was it Jenny?
To have overlooked her, what a grave mistake.
Yu Ke gasped, struggling to stay conscious, but the drug’s effects were overwhelming. A soft hand gently cupped her face, and a cold voice spoke: “Your Highness, the Princess… you truly… break my heart.”
