- Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée
- Chapter 26 - Takeoff
“See? Lan Xing is the most unique existence on Panda Planet,” Lan Zhen said with a smile to Yu Ke. “Possessing a silver-white mermaid tail is regarded as the purest soul.”
Yu Ke glanced at Lan Zhen, unsure if she knew about the real Lan Xing’s escape, and replied perfunctorily, “The probability of albinism in the human population is also one in ten thousand. I don’t quite understand the aesthetic standards of your mermaid clan.”
Lan Zhen’s smile stiffened for a moment. Hearing this, she thought Yu Ke might have discovered something, but upon further reflection, she suspected Yu Ke might be bluffing.
Indeed, even if Lan Zhen knew Lan Xing’s secret, she wouldn’t reveal it. Feigning ignorance, she said, “This is different from albinism. In our eyes, Lan Xing is a unique existence.”
While others were discussing Lan Xing’s white mermaid tail, Yu Ke was worried: What method did she use to bleach her tail white? Would it harm her body?
The carriage carrying the bride circled in front of the palace, with handsome knights guarding her front and back. Noble children cheered and chased after them, picking up candies along the way.
Brilliant fireworks bloomed above the royal palace, and the fountain in front of the palace performed tirelessly. Amid the blessings of the crowd, the carriage stopped at the palace entrance. From another direction, Yu Jie, under the gaze of all, rode forward on horseback with his guards.
He was tall and robust, the epitome of a dominant Alpha in people’s minds. Just by his physique, one could tell he could easily lift the mermaid princess with one hand.
Seeing Yu Jie approach Lan Xing, Yu Ke couldn’t help but step forward. Lan Zhen grabbed her wrist and mocked, “What, do you want to carry the bride for him?”
“Why not?” Yu Ke retorted.
Lan Zhen lifted her foot and unexpectedly kicked Yu Ke’s wound.
Cold sweat beaded on Yu Ke’s forehead. “…”
Seeing Yu Ke’s pained expression, Lan Zhen laughed gleefully. “Is that all?”
When two Alphas are together, they are bound to clash, neither giving way to the other.
Yu Ke had no choice but to swallow her temper and wait quietly for the right moment to make her move.
In front of the palace, Yu Jie tried to step forward to carry Lan Xing but was also stopped. A man with a fish head and a human body jumped down from the front of the carriage. He appeared to be a full three meters tall, dressed in an elegant tailcoat and trousers but barefoot, with wide feet that made him walk like a giant. He approached Lan Xing gracefully, bent down, and lifted her.
Lan Xing held her bouquet in one hand, spread her arms, and was cradled in the fish-man’s embrace, sitting in the crook of his arm. Her mermaid-tail gown trailed elegantly on the ground, her posture charming and graceful.
When he was driving the carriage, no one could tell he was so tall. But now, holding Lan Xing, he seemed as unattainable as a mountain peak.
“That is Panda’s Sixteenth Prince, Lan Xing’s older brother,” Lan Zhen said leisurely, waving her pink feathered fan. “After the incident last time, he volunteered to protect Lan Xing and serve as her personal bodyguard.”
Yu Ke asked amusedly, “Do all the princes on your planet look like this?” She had seen several mermaid men, all with fish heads and human bodies, which she found rather frightening.
Lan Zhen was taken aback and paused before saying, “What’s wrong with looking like this?”
Yu Ke smiled. “It’s fine. He can serve as a door god.”
Lan Zhen felt the sting of sarcasm and retorted, “If he’s the gatekeeper, are you confident you can snatch Lan Xing away from him?”
Yu Ke replied, “I don’t need his permission to take Lan Xing. As long as Lan Xing is willing, that’s enough.”
Lan Zhen gave a light scoff and, guided by a servant, swayed as she led Yu Ke into the banquet hall.
The hall was filled with the lively strains of a wedding march. The king and queen, dressed in their finest, personally greeted the guests who had come from across the stars. Lan Zhen stepped forward to greet the royal couple and presented her gift.
Yu Ke, disguised as a maid, stayed close to Lan Zhen the entire time. With her altered appearance, she managed to go completely unnoticed.
Having successfully infiltrated the wedding hall, the next step was to change outfits.
After all, no one would attempt to crash a wedding in a maid’s uniform.
The restrooms here were individual stalls, eliminating the need for gender-specific facilities. She retrieved the outfit she had hidden earlier in her petticoat, a sleek black “night cat” cocktail dress, complete with a strapless top, a chain harness, and a short leather skirt. After changing into a pair of combat boots, her presence instantly commanded attention.
Once dressed, she touched up her makeup and donned a pair of golden cat-ear accessories before calmly stepping out of the restroom.
Someone noticed her and approached to strike up a conversation, but Yu Ke didn’t even glance their way. “Get lost,” she said flatly.
On the stage, Lan Xing held her bouquet, waiting for the priest to announce the official start of the wedding.
She glanced around, smiling and greeting familiar faces, but the princess was nowhere to be seen.
Turning back, she saw Yu Jie approaching. The little mermaid nodded politely and lifted the hem of her dress, wary of him accidentally stepping on it.
“Everything’s ready. Are you prepared?” Yu Jie asked, smiling at her.
Lan Xing nodded slowly, her heartbeat gradually quickening.
“Before we begin, I’d love to hear you sing a song,” Yu Jie said with a smile. “I’ve bought Nan Zhou Island as a wedding gift for you. In return, may I hear you sing?”
The guests broke into applause, and some even cheered, urging Lan Xing to sing. Even the priest encouraged her to give it a try.
Lan Xing’s face flushed crimson. She lowered her head, biting her lip, hesitating repeatedly.
“Mermaids are such shy creatures,” Yu Jie said gently. “Don’t be afraid, my dear. I promise, once they hear your voice, they’ll all be enchanted by you.”
“I… I’m not prepared,” Lan Xing stammered nervously, her gaze fixed on the floor. “I don’t know what to sing…”
“Come on, we’ll all cheer you on,” Yu Jie insisted, unwilling to let it go. “I’ve already made a concession by buying you an island. Can’t you do this little thing for me?”
The guests were thoroughly enjoying the spectacle, and some even volunteered to sing as a gesture of blessing.
Yu Jie was merely acting on a whim. He didn’t think singing was a big deal, and if he could coax Lan Xing to sing for him, it would satisfy his vanity.
Amid the standoff, a voice from below the stage spoke up, “Don’t pressure her, Yu Jie.”
Her voice captured everyone’s attention. Lan Xing followed the sound, and her sapphire-blue eyes instantly lit up with renewed brilliance.
Yu Ke stood not far away, her silhouette elongated by the dazzling lights of the banquet hall. Step by step, she approached the two on the stage, her eyes bright and focused on Lan Xing. With a smile, she said, “I’m here, little mermaid.”
Lan Xing’s face flushed so deeply it was almost unbearable to look at. She buried her face in her palms and shrank back slightly. Just as everyone thought she was frightened, she covered her face and exclaimed, “Hmm!!!”
Yu Jie glanced at Lan Xing, then at Yu Ke. First, he was utterly shocked, then his expression shifted to fury, jealousy, and unconcealed disgust. He rushed forward, blocking Lan Xing, and shouted, “What are you doing here?!”
Below the stage, Queen Jiao stood up and yelled, “Yu Ke! So, you finally decided to come back?!”
The king frowned slightly, watching the commotion calmly. “Since you’ve made it in time, take a seat and join in blessing your brother and his bride.”
“No, Father,” Yu Ke looked at the king, cleared his throat, and said, “I cannot bless them, because I’m here to stop this wedding!”
Yu Jie sneered, grabbing Lan Xing’s hand as he shouted, “Yu Ke, have you lost your mind? After disappearing for so many days, you suddenly show up, how do you plan to stop my wedding?”
Yu Ke took a step forward, and Yu Jie pulled Lan Xing closer, yelling, “Guards! Take her away!”
Just as the guards prepared to act, Queen Jiao shouted, “Wait!”
For a moment, the guards froze, unsure whose orders to follow. The king then made a restraining gesture, and the guards paused.
Queen Jiao, her expression complex, glared at Yu Ke with gritted teeth. “What is going on? Why have you returned so suddenly?”
Yu Ke glanced at her, then turned to face the guests, clearing her throat. “Everyone, I object to this wedding because… I question the sincerity of their feelings. I believe Prince Yu Jie cannot bring happiness to Lan Xing.”
“…”
“………………”
The guest seats erupted into chaos. Someone shouted, “Yu Ke, is there anyone in the entire galaxy who doesn’t know you have feelings for Princess Lan Xing?”
“I’m dying of laughter! Why not just say you like Lan Xing?”
“Hahahahaha, Princess, are you trying to kill us with laughter?”
Yu Ke let out an “uh,” lowering her head in embarrassment, her scalp tingling. She stole a glance at Lan Xing, who was also looking at her. Their eyes met briefly before darting away.
Yu Ke hung her head, a faint smile curling at the corners of her lips as she murmured softly, “Alright then, it’s because I fell in love with Lan Xing at first sight. I want to take her away.”
Upon hearing this, Yu Jie exploded with rage. “Have you gone insane?!”
In front of everyone, he lunged at Yu Ke, grabbing her and starting a scuffle. Lan Xing rushed to intervene without a second thought, only to be backhanded by Yu Jie.
A mermaid’s tail makes it difficult to maintain balance. Pushed by Yu Jie, she stumbled and fell sideways. Amid the panic and screams of the crowd, Yu Ke dashed forward, wrapping her arms around Lan Xing’s waist and pulling her into an embrace.
At that moment, the guests burst into applause. From the crowd, Ram cursed, “Yu Jie, how dare you push Lan Xing? Have you no decency at all?!”
Yu Ke looked toward Ram’s direction, but the Omega male turned away with a cold snort, ignoring her.
People began criticizing Yu Jie, who grew increasingly unhinged. The assassins he had arranged repeatedly asked through the communicator, “The plan has changed. Should we proceed?”
Yu Jie snapped, “Proceed! Kill Yu Ke!”
Below the stage, Lan Zhen held a wine glass, sneered, and turned to say something to Xiao Nan.
Xiao Nan nodded and took advantage of the chaos to slip away, heading toward the engine room of the banquet hall.
When Yu Ke rushed forward to embrace her, she pressed down on her injured leg, her endurance pushed to the limit. She quietly drew a sharp breath, adjusted her posture, and lifted Lan Xing into her arms in a princess carry.
Lan Xing was light. If not for her injured leg holding her back, Yu Ke felt she could have run while carrying Lan Xing.
And so, she carried Lan Xing step by step down the stage, walking past the varied expressions in the crowd.
Yu Jie was cursing loudly behind her, and guards swarmed in from all directions. The king abruptly stood up, coughing violently, and shouted, “Yu Ke, if you take Lan Xing away today, don’t ever think about coming back!”
Yu Ke paid no heed, continuing to carry Lan Xing as she walked out. Just then, two loud bangs echoed through the hall. Yu Ke froze in place, and a tall figure appeared behind her.
The Sixteenth Prince of Panda Planet stood shielding her and Lan Xing, frowning as his sturdy fins deflected the two bullets that had been fired.
The scene descended into further chaos as people screamed and scrambled in all directions.
Lan Zhen set down her wine glass, spoke briefly into her comm, and in an instant, tons of water cascaded from above. Amid the screams, the wedding attendees were caught completely off guard.
Yu Ke lost her footing but was steadied by Lan Xing, who wrapped an arm around her waist. They broke through the water’s surface and rode the current out of the palace.
Li Jian’an arrived just in time with a spacecraft, picking them up. Without even waiting for the cabin door to fully close, they hastily took off.
