- Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée
- Chapter 25 - Wedding Dress
Four hours remained until the wedding.
Lan Xing could have slept a little longer, but for some reason, she woke up. She sat up in bed, her mermaid tail trailing on the floor, shimmering under the moonlight like the glow of the Milky Way, magnificent and captivating.
Feeling a sense of emptiness, she glanced at the time and realized she had indeed woken up too early.
A faint, elusive sweetness lingered in the air, reminiscent of a cool breeze. The fragrance was subtle, yet it seeped deep into her bones.
It somewhat resembled… that person’s scent.
Lan Xing rubbed her eyes and looked around, noticing that the window was open. Leaning over, she reached to close it, her profile casting a clear silhouette against the moonlit window.
Watching this scene, Yu Ke’s breath caught in her throat.
Some people, unless seen with one’s own eyes, could never be imagined to be so beautiful.
Yu Ke stood outside the window, watching for a long time, until the person inside finally reacted,
“Who is it?” Lan Xing’s voice trembled slightly. “Who’s there?”
“Lan Xing, it’s me,” Yu Ke murmured softly.
“You… how did you get in?” Lan Xing nervously retreated, her voice barely a whisper. “The security here is tight. You’ll be discovered…”
“That’s why I only plan to stay for a moment,” Yu Ke said, a smile curling her lips as she gazed at the figure in the window.
Through the darkness of the night, she couldn’t clearly see Lan Xing’s face, but she could imagine her earnest and anxious expression.
Lan Xing hid behind the window, craning her neck to look in Yu Ke’s direction, asking repeatedly, “You… are you really the Crown Princess?”
“I… I’ve been deceived once before,” Lan Xing whispered. “If you’re not the Crown Princess, I… I’ll be very sad.”
Hearing her words, Yu Ke felt her restless heart, which had been wandering for so long, melt away.
She slowly approached, standing outside the window, leaning against the cold wall, and spoke each word clearly and deliberately: “I am A’Ke. I came to tell you that tomorrow, at the wedding, I plan to take you away.”
Hearing this, Lan Xing curled up little by little, burying her face in her arms, unable to suppress a soft sound.
“Lan Xing?”
“I’m here, I…” Lan Xing covered her face and whispered, “I… I’m very happy…”
Yu Ke lowered her head and smiled.
“But, tomorrow… I, I… can’t go with you, Your Highness,” Lan Xing said breathlessly, her voice gentle.
“Why?”
“I don’t deserve you, Your Highness,” Lan Xing’s voice trembled with tears.
Yu Ke lowered her eyelids, her expression dimming.
She had anticipated such a response and wasn’t disappointed, merely saying, “I’m sorry, Lan Xing. I came to inform you, not to discuss it with you.”
Lan Xing’s long, curled eyelashes trembled slightly, but she remained silent, unusually obedient.
Yu Ke’s voice was gentle and soothing. “So, even though you’ve told me now that you won’t come with me, tomorrow, I will still appear at your wedding. Because I want to take you away. Because I believe you deserve someone better, a better life, rather than marrying someone like Yu Jie.”
The surroundings were quiet, and for a long time, Lan Xing said nothing.
“I should go now,” Yu Ke cleared her throat and said softly. “I told you in advance because I didn’t want to startle you at the wedding tomorrow. I wanted you to be prepared, so my actions wouldn’t seem too rude.”
“You… have considered everything so thoroughly,” Lan Xing’s voice was barely audible. She leaned against the window, hugging herself, hesitating for a long while as if stifling sobs. Trembling, she said, “No one has ever been as gentle as you.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Yu Ke chuckled softly. “See you tomorrow, my dear little mermaid.”
“You… wait… just a moment,” Lan Xing called out to her, gazing at her silhouette through the window, wanting to speak but hesitating uncertainly.
Yu Ke watched her intently. “You can tell me what’s troubling you, Lan Xing.”
Hearing this, Lan Xing’s expression turned solemn. Dragging her long silver tail, she moved a little closer to Yu Ke, swallowed nervously, and whispered, “Actually, I am not the real Princess Lan Xing.”
Yu Ke’s expression shifted slightly, her lips parting as if to speak, but she held back.
Lan Xing lowered her eyelids, her face flushed with tension. She continued, “The real Princess Lan Xing has already left the Twin Star System. I am her substitute, a stand-in, destined to marry Yu Jie and fulfill her mission in her place.”
Yu Ke inhaled softly, her heart aching as she looked at the adorable little mermaid before her.
“The real Lan Xing’s mermaid tail is silver-white, but mine is sea blue. You’ve seen it…” Lan Xing murmured softly.
“Mmm,” Yu Ke praised, “The blue tail is the most beautiful.”
Lan Xing smiled, the dimples at the corners of her lips gently rippling. She said, “On Panda Planet, many royal families keep substitutes because mermaids can survive tenaciously in icy seawater, making them the most suitable race for cloning.”
“Cloning?” Yu Ke repeated the word under her breath.
“Yes, we are almost identical. I just don’t understand why my tail is blue,” Lan Xing shook her head, muttering, “I don’t know why only the tail color is different…”
Yu Ke couldn’t help but laugh softly. Hearing Lan Xing’s words, she finally understood many things.
She now understood why, on the first night, Lan Xing had gone into heat in front of her but stubbornly refused to call an ambulance.
If her tail were seen, the secret of her being a substitute would be exposed.
To protect that secret, she had even lied, claiming it was because she was no longer a virgin and her tail color was impure, so it couldn’t be seen…
Later, when Lan Xing came to her, asking her to keep the secret, it was also out of fear that her identity as a substitute would be revealed.
Yu Ke had known she was lying but never exposed her. Only today did she finally learn the reason behind those lies.
“Because our capricious princess refused to accept this marriage, I came here in her place. No matter what happens, I must fulfill my mission. That’s why I cannot go with you, Your Highness,” Lan Xing said, tears welling up in her eyes once more.
“I understand,” Yu Ke’s face was hidden in the darkness, her expression unreadable. She slowly closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. “Lan Xing, if you hadn’t told me this, I might never have figured it out. I would have regretted it for the rest of my life.”
“Now you know,” Lan Xing pressed her lips together, forcing a fragile smile. “You can go find the real Lan Xing. She is the one you should love.”
“You yearn for freedom and don’t want to be a princess, and so does she, she never wished to be a princess either. That’s why she abandoned everything and left,” Lan Xing said with a smile. “You’ll like her, you’ll be drawn to her pheromones. Go find her, will you?”
Yu Ke’s deep, magnetic voice suddenly cut Lan Xing off. “Darling, did you know?”
Through the wall, Lan Xing felt as if an electric shock ran through her body.
She held her breath, no longer rambling, and listened as Yu Ke’s melodious voice spoke gently, “You said you aren’t the real Lan Xing. Well, let me tell you something too.”
“As it happens, I’m not the real Yu Ke either.”
“I think we’re a perfect match made in heaven. Don’t argue anymore, that’s just how it is.”
Lan Xing’s mind went blank, her heartbeat gradually speeding up.
With a soft laugh, Yu Ke said tenderly, “I wish I could take you away right now, but I want to see you in a wedding gown. So, tomorrow, wait for me.”
“My dear little mermaid.”
…
Two hours before the wedding.
Yu Jie was finalizing the details with the assassin, when to shoot, how many shots, and in which direction, among other things.
“Make the bullets pass as close to me as possible,” Yu Jie instructed. “Only then can we capture the life-or-death intensity.”
“But the bride will be standing beside you. If the aim is too close, she might get hurt.”
Yu Jie thought for a moment and replied, “As long as it’s not a vital area, that’s acceptable.”
Meanwhile, Queen Jiao chose to come clean with the king.
“My maid actually did so many things behind my back, and now she’s left me with all this trouble!” Queen Jiao pointed at Jenny’s nose, complaining before the king. “Your Majesty, you should hear how she conspired with those kidnappers to frame Lan Xing!”
“She even stole A’Ke’s pheromones. Who would have thought it was A’Ke’s pheromones?!” the queen exclaimed dramatically. “But why would A’Ke’s pheromones bewitch Lan Xing? What’s going on between them? Aren’t you curious, Your Majesty?”
The king rubbed his temples. “Isn’t today the day our eldest son and Lan Xing are getting married? Why are you bringing this up now?”
Queen Jiao wailed and carried on, completely shifting the blame onto Jenny. It wasn’t until the king offered a few words of comfort that she finally calmed down.
“I don’t think A’Ke would run off with the money,” the king said bluntly. “She’s a princess of Ferrari, how could she do something so irresponsible? Don’t worry too much about her. Just wait for her to return.”
Queen Jiao nodded pretentiously, though in truth, she had long lost all trust in Yu Ke. Rather than wasting energy on her, it was better to focus on cultivating another underage prince.
The wedding bells rang out, and nobles from across the universe arrived one after another with their invitations, gathering at the Ferrari Palace to witness this cross-galaxy wedding of the century.
“It’s unbelievable that the princess of Panda would stoop to marrying into a place like this.”
“What’s so unbelievable? It’s all for the sake of interstellar peace.”
“It’s not just about peace. The Panda planet has its own considerations too. If the mermaid clan hadn’t actively sought alliances with other planets, how would they have achieved their current status?”
“Don’t forget, their ancestors were once bought and sold across the stars, becoming slaves raised in captivity!”
“Ah, in this interstellar age, which race doesn’t have a dark past? Besides, theories of racial superiority have long been forgotten since the emergence of secondary genders. Nowadays, regardless of race, Alpha is considered the most esteemed.”
“Even among Alphas, there are distinctions of strength and rank. I’ve heard the crown prince of the Ferrari Kingdom is one Alpha in a hundred.”
“His royal sister is also an Alpha with exceptional presence, though she’s not very active.”
“…”
Discussions about the royal children’s secondary genders were always a favorite topic among people. In this context, no matter how beautiful, noble, or charming Omegas might be, they were merely seen as having more capital to please Alphas.
This world remained one dominated by Alphas. Even someone like Lan Xing couldn’t control her own destiny.
Was that really true?
Amid the lively chatter, a white horse slowly pulled a golden carriage into view. The guests’ conversations gradually faded as everyone looked toward the bride inside the carriage with eager anticipation.
She held a bouquet, her head slightly bowed. Her golden curls were styled elegantly, framing her adorable and captivating face. Her posture was graceful and dignified, and the wedding dress was custom-made just for her, perfectly tailored to her mermaid form. The creamy fabric extended beautifully, blooming like a bouquet at the hem, modestly revealing her stunning silver-white tail fin. She looked holy, elegant, and breathtakingly beautiful.
How could someone like her ever say, “I’m not worthy of you”? It was truly absurd.
Yu Ke had never been so grateful. She knew she had made the right decision, returning to this planet to witness such beauty.
