Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée - Chapter 23
Yu Ke held her phone for a long time, a smile gradually spreading across her lips. Those around her could sense something was off about her, yet she continued scrolling through the messages one by one.
“Ma’am?” the Alpha guard said impatiently. “Please don’t delay our work.”
“Alright, just a moment…” Yu Ke responded, eager to reply to the messages. Halfway through typing, she decided it was better to handle the matter at hand first.
The scene became rather peculiar. The previously furious Yu Ke suddenly beamed with a smile and said to the guard, “This is truly a trivial matter. There’s no need to involve the royal family. I believe it’s best if I personally speak with the manager.”
The guard was baffled. “What kind of trick is this?”
“Don’t worry, there’s absolutely no trick. And I’m certain this is nothing serious, there must be some misunderstanding. I’ll step in for my maid and try to persuade the manager and his difficult wife.”
Yu Ke’s lips curled upward in excitement. She tried to contain her emotions, but her hand, still clutching the phone, trembled slightly. Smiling at the guard, she said, “Give me three hours to prepare. I’ll personally take my maid to apologize to the manager’s wife.”
“You should’ve said so earlier,” the guard replied coldly. “In three hours, I’ll return here to take you to see the manager’s wife!”
“How do you plan to negotiate with them?” Li Jian’an asked worriedly. “The manager’s wife is the daughter of the owner here. With her connections and influence, she’s not someone ordinary people can afford to offend.”
Back on the spaceship, Yu Ke simply told Xiao Nan, “Go take a bath and change your clothes,” before leaving her behind and retreating to her bedroom. She shut herself inside and began scrolling through Lan Xing’s messages one by one.
The latest one read: “Coco has such a big appetite lately, eating diligently every day. Thankfully, she’s very active, or she’d gain a lot of weight!”
Yu Ke wondered who “Coco” was. Scrolling back, she discovered that her golden retriever had been adopted by Lan Xing and given the name “Coco.”
Yu Ke: “…” Wasn’t that her own childhood nickname?
Ferrari’s runaway princess, Yu Ke, stripped of her royal title, wasn’t she just “Coco”?
How irritating.
Scrolling further back, Lan Xing had also shown her the little fish she was raising and shared snippets of her daily life. Sometimes, the messages were just repetitive “Good morning” or “Good night,” but they were sent almost every day. The earliest message, from a week ago, said:
“I’m doing well. How about you?”
If she had seen these messages earlier, Yu Ke wouldn’t have been so depressed for so long, nor would she have run off to such a distant place in a fit of pique…
Or would she?
Not necessarily.
What did Lan Xing mean by sending these messages now? Did she still want to keep things ambiguous between them?
What was Lan Xing thinking?
Did she like her?
She must, right?
If she didn’t, why would she send messages every day? Even when Yu Ke never replied, she still repeated “Good night” daily.
She must like her, right?
Yu Ke read the messages over and over, attempting to draft replies each time, but from start to finish, she had no idea how to ask her.
When Li Jian’an knocked on the door, Yu Ke snapped back to reality. Had three hours really passed so quickly?
Xiao Nan finished washing up and changed into a decent outfit. She wore no makeup, but her features were strikingly beautiful. Despite her pitiable demeanor, she still looked like a captivating Omega.
“I’m sorry for causing you trouble,” Xiao Nan said dejectedly. “I know it’s shameful. I can’t even face going back home now.”
“The ones who should be ashamed are that manager and his relentless wife,” Yu Ke replied, putting away her phone to comfort her. “Don’t be afraid. I’ll help you seek justice. If necessary, I’ll reveal my identity to settle this matter.”
Xiao Nan wiped her tears and whispered, “Actually, you don’t have to help me. My life is already over. Even if you help me now, I won’t have a good future…”
Her crying irritated Yu Ke, who struggled to find the right words of comfort. She wasn’t an optimist by nature; in fact, she tended to be pessimistic herself. In her view, Xiao Nan had truly been unlucky to end up in such a situation.
After a moment’s thought, Yu Ke said, “Don’t talk like that. If I didn’t help you, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself either.”
Xiao Nan nodded, composed herself, and began recounting her story in detail.
It turned out that Xiao Nan was no ordinary Omega. She was born into an aristocratic family in the South, raised in privilege and given an excellent noblewoman’s education. At fourteen, she presented as a charming Omega and was expected to marry an outstanding, well-matched Alpha. But that was when she met the restaurant manager.
The man, named Gill, was ten years older than Xiao Nan. At the time, he was just an insignificant kitchen helper in her household.
By chance, Xiao Nan got to know Gill and fell in love with the clever, lively man. To make him worthy of her, she even paid for him to study at the Royal Business College. Meanwhile, she rejected all her other suitors, visiting him only during the summers each year at the college.
Back when Xiao Nan had just presented, Gill had already been intimate with her. A marked Omega remains fiercely loyal to her Alpha, and Xiao Nan constantly dreamed of marrying Gill.
But as seven years passed, Gill became an outstanding Alpha and accepted a position at the Sea Restaurant. Meanwhile, Xiao Nan’s family went bankrupt and fell into decline for various reasons. Their marriage plans fell through, and eventually, even contacting Gill became extremely difficult for Xiao Nan.
She wanted to find Gill at the Sea Restaurant but couldn’t afford the boat fare. When she heard someone was hiring a spaceship maid, Xiao Nan eagerly sought out Li Jian’an.
That’s how the rest of the story unfolded. Gill was now the manager there, married to the restaurant owner’s daughter. Successful and powerful, he had long forgotten his humble beginnings as a kitchen helper in a declining aristocratic family in the South.
Xiao Nan had been foolish, she had intended to confront Gill for an explanation, but the moment she caught his scent, she lost control.
“I couldn’t help it… I hate myself for it, but I can’t break free…” Xiao Nan weakly defended herself in front of the manager’s wife.
The manager’s wife turned away in disgust and snorted coldly.
Her husband Gill was not present, reportedly busy with other matters. Left with no choice, Yu Ke had to bring Xiao Nan along to negotiate.
“You should always carry suppressants with you,” a guard nearby remarked coldly. “Failing to control your heat is a crime in itself!”
Xiao Nan had nothing to say, utterly ashamed and wishing she could disappear.
“And Alphas are completely blameless?” Yu Ke retorted. “Do Alphas carry suppressants with them? Your husband is a married man, couldn’t he control his actions?”
The lady flushed red with anger and snapped, “It’s clearly your maid who lacks restraint and seduced my man! How dare you blame my husband?”
“Is your husband a pig, easily seduced at the drop of a hat? Is he that desperate?” Yu Ke sneered. “If he had any integrity, he wouldn’t have sent you to handle this. Do you even know who this maid was to your husband in the past?”
“Without Xiao Nan, your husband would be nothing today, just a coward, a worthless ingrate who climbed his way up by relying on others,” Yu Ke lashed out. “This matter could have been resolved quietly, but you had to make a scene. What do you think you’ll gain from it in the end? Are you proud of making your husband lose face in front of you? How ridiculous! You’re trying to control your husband’s life, but he’s nothing but trash. And what you’re doing is just the behavior of a loser!”
Yu Ke grew more and more impassioned as she vented, leaving Li Jian’an stunned beside her. He tried to pull her back, whispering a reminder, “Your Highness, didn’t we come here to apologize?”
“Apologize, my ass! Why should we apologize to her?” Yu Ke fumed. “Why should Omegas always bear the responsibility? Why is this world so unfair to Omegas? Just because the rules were made by the powerful?”
“…”
Well, with Yu Ke’s outburst, the manager’s wife was completely terrified.
An Alpha, one in ten thousand, could command submission with just a gesture, but a furious Alpha was nothing short of a disaster for ordinary people.
She seemed to be covered in thorns, ready to draw blood at any moment, and she ended with a threat: “Xiao Nan is my maid. If you insist on pressing charges, all the dirty deeds your husband has done in the past will come to light. In the end, it’s you and your husband who will be humiliated!”
“You… get out!” the manager’s wife trembled with rage. “Throw them out! Drive them out of the Sea Restaurant! They are not welcome here!!! Get them out! Out!”
The situation had spiraled completely out of control. Seeing this, Yu Ke made a quick exit, with Li Jian’an and Xiao Nan hurrying after her. The three of them strode confidently out of the manager’s office and returned to their spacecraft.
“Well, that’s it. We’re completely finished,” Li Jian’an said helplessly from the cockpit. “We’ve offended the daughter of the Sea Restaurant’s owner for Xiao Nan’s sake. Where can we go now?”
Yu Ke had calmed down by then. She lit a cigarette and took a slow drag.
She hadn’t expected to lose her temper so intensely, completely shattering the manager’s wife’s composure.
Even though they were being driven out, deep down… it felt pretty satisfying.
“How is Xiao Nan doing?” Yu Ke asked Li Jian’an.
“She hasn’t recovered yet,” Li Jian’an replied. “Probably still in shock.”
Yu Ke thought for a moment and asked Li Jian’an, “Is it really impossible for a marked Omega to forget the person who marked her?”
“Many young Omegas are like that,” Li Jian’an stroked his chin and said thoughtfully. “Xiao Nan was too young at the time. For someone like her, it might require surgical removal of the gland and complete sterilization to achieve that.”
Yu Ke gasped sharply.
Lan Xing was only around sixteen years old, a fragile and beautiful Omega. Would she carry the mark of the person who claimed her for the rest of her life?
With unease in her heart, Yu Ke took out her phone and repeatedly reread the messages Lan Xing had sent, trying to decipher the emotions behind them.
Lan Xing had never explicitly said she liked Yu Ke, but she had mentioned she didn’t like Yu Jie.
A glimmer of hope, a wild thought, began to stir in Yu Ke’s heart. Perhaps this idea had been lurking in the shadows of her mind for a long time, waiting for the right moment to sprout, emerge into the light, and grow uncontrollably.
A new message arrived on her phone. At first glance, Yu Ke’s hands trembled with excitement, but she soon realized she had misread the sender’s name.
The message was from Lan Zhen: “I heard you got kicked out of the Seaside Restaurant? Is it true? What did you do to deserve that?”
Yu Ke replied with a silly emoji: “(:з」∠)”
Lan Zhen instantly responded: ” Ψ( ̄?? ̄)Ψ That’s so you”
Yu Ke ruffled her hair and typed in an overly sweet tone: “Sis, help me crash a wedding?”
