Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 64
When the two of them came out, little Tiantian looked up with her big round eyes and asked innocently, “Mama, why is your face all red?”
Lin Qinghan shot a glare at Shen Xian, who only shrugged with an expression that screamed innocence.
“It’s nothing. Maybe it’s just that the break room didn’t have the windows open—it was a little stuffy,” Lin Qinghan explained while scooping Tiantian up from the chair. “Let’s go play on the couch, okay? Don’t disturb Mommy while she’s working.”
“Okay~” Tiantian responded in her sweet, milky voice.
Shen Xian called her assistant again and asked her to buy some milk tea and desserts before settling down to focus on work.
While Shen Xian was busy reading documents and Tiantian was engrossed in playing with her toys, Lin Qinghan sat idly on the sofa. Her gaze inevitably drifted toward Shen Xian.
Shen Xian sat there, head slightly bowed as she studied a file, one hand holding a pen, the other resting loosely over it—completely absorbed in thought. Lin Qinghan found herself thinking that Shen Xian looked even more attractive than before, especially when she was this focused.
She leaned back on the sofa, unabashedly watching the woman across the room. Suddenly, their eyes met. Shen Xian lifted her gaze slightly and caught her looking, a soft smile tugging at her lips. “Does it look good?” she asked.
Caught red-handed, Lin Qinghan coughed lightly in embarrassment. She glanced at Tiantian, who was still deeply engrossed with her toys and hadn’t noticed a thing, then shot a warning look at Shen Xian. “I wasn’t looking at you. Don’t overthink it.” She subtly gestured toward their daughter, telling Shen Xian not to say anything inappropriate.
Shen Xian chuckled and pursed her lips playfully. “Fine, then I’ll say it—it looks good to me.”
Tiantian, utterly confused, tilted her head. “Mommy, what looks good?”
Lin Qinghan’s ears instantly flushed red. She turned to glare at Shen Xian again, clearly expecting her to clean up the mess she’d made.
But Shen Xian didn’t panic. She just smiled and said, “Sweetie, I was talking about your little fox plushie—it’s so cute and pretty.”
Tiantian beamed with delight, revealing tiny dimples. “My little fox is pretty. I like it a lot.”
Shen Xian nodded in agreement. “Mommy likes it too,” she said, though her eyes weren’t on the plushie but on Lin Qinghan beside Tiantian.
Lin Qinghan ignored her and turned to Tiantian. “Sweetie, do you want to eat a mini cake?”
“Yes! Mommy too!” Tiantian didn’t forget to include Shen Xian.
Smiling, Shen Xian got up from her desk and came to sit beside Lin Qinghan, reaching over to gently ruffle Tiantian’s little pigtails.
Tiantian leaned her head against Lin Qinghan and snuggled adorably.
Shen Xian took a bite of the Black Forest cake in her hand and looked at the two of them with a soft gaze full of warmth.
When Xiao Yue knocked on the door, the three of them were still sitting on the couch eating together. Lin Qinghan looked a bit flustered. “Should I take Tiantian to the break room?”
Shen Xian reached out and tugged on Lin Qinghan’s wrist, smiling. “No need. You’ll be coming here often to keep me company. You’ll get used to it. It doesn’t interfere with my work.”
She stood up to open the door for Xiao Yue, and behind her, Lin Qinghan muttered under her breath, “Who said I’d come here often? You’re getting ahead of yourself.”
Xiao Yue greeted them with a grin. “Hello, Miss Lin. Hi, little President Shen.”
Tiantian got shy at being called “little President Shen” and hid against Lin Qinghan, blushing. “Hi, jiejie~”
“So cute,” Xiao Yue chuckled before placing the documents on Shen Xian’s desk for review.
Shen Xian went over the papers seriously and pointed out where revisions were needed. Only then did Xiao Yue leave.
Lin Qinghan had always been curious. She could understand how Shen Xian’s behavior had changed, but what about her sudden boost in professional skills? Could someone really learn so much in such a short time? Before, their awkward relationship made it hard to ask, but now she felt it was finally time to get some answers.
After work, Shen Xian carried Tiantian in one arm and held Lin Qinghan’s hand in the other, her face lit with joy. She looked like she wanted to introduce her wife and daughter to everyone in the building.
Sure enough, before long, gossip flooded the company chat group:
“President Shen really treats her wife and daughter like queens. What a dream couple.”
“Ugh, crying. Too bad she’s already taken.”
“I’m jealous of her wife…”
That night, after coaxing Tiantian to sleep, Shen Xian whispered to Lin Qinghan, “Qinghan, the weather’s cooling down, and the smell in the new house has mostly dissipated. Let’s find time to move in.”
Lin Qinghan nodded. “Okay.”
Shen Xian scooted closer and wrapped an arm around her waist. “Once we move, we can start teaching Tiantian to sleep on her own.”
“She’s not even four yet. What do you mean, sleep on her own?” Lin Qinghan rolled her eyes at her.
Shen Xian just smiled and said, “Okay, okay, then we’ll keep sleeping together.”
Her breath was warm against Lin Qinghan’s ear, making her feel ticklish.
Lin Qinghan rubbed her head against Shen Xian’s shoulder to ease the sensation. Then she looked up seriously and asked, “Shen Xian, I want to ask you something. You suddenly became so capable and can even run a company now. Did you really learn all that in such a short time?”
Shen Xian hadn’t expected that question. She glanced down and met Qinghan’s eyes.
She paused for a moment. She didn’t want to lie but was afraid the truth might scare her—or that the system would forbid her from telling. So she mentally asked, “System, can I tell Qinghan where I’m really from?”
“Hello, Host. According to the rules, yes—but you must not mention the system, the affection rating tied to your life, or anything related to how this world operates.”
Shen Xian pulled her thoughts back. Lin Qinghan looked increasingly uneasy from the silence.
Finally, Shen Xian sat up a little straighter and said solemnly, “Qinghan, there’s something I should’ve told you long ago. Please don’t be scared.”
Hearing her speak so seriously only made Lin Qinghan more anxious. “Don’t scare me, Shen Xian. I’m being serious here.”
Shen Xian nodded and began, “Qinghan, this might sound absurd, but I promise every word is true. I’m… not the original Shen Xian. Or rather, I’m not the same person you used to know.”
Lin Qinghan gave her a light slap. “Don’t talk nonsense. If you’re not Shen Xian, then who are you?”
“Well… I came from a parallel world—one very similar to this one. I died from overwork and woke up in this Shen Xian’s body. Remember when I first bought snacks for Tiantian and you thought I was going to sell her? That was the day I arrived. From then until now, the person in this body has been me. The original Shen Xian couldn’t have changed that much—she was a gambler. But I’m not her.”
Afraid she might scare Qinghan, Shen Xian quickly added, “But don’t worry—I’m not a ghost or anything. I don’t know what I am exactly, but I won’t hurt you or Tiantian.”
Lin Qinghan saw the seriousness in her eyes and dismissed the idea that Shen Xian was joking. “So you’re really… not her? Then who are you?”
“I’m also called Shen Xian in my world. I look the same, even our faces are identical. But this world we live in—it’s just a novel in my world. You were the female lead of that story. Because I entered this world, the plot has changed.”
“You’re saying me, Tiantian, my parents—we’re all just characters in a book?” Lin Qinghan shook her head in disbelief.
“It’s true, Qinghan. I know it’s hard to believe, but I’ve lived it. Ever since I got here, I’ve never lied to you or Tiantian.”
She gently placed her hand on top of Qinghan’s. When Qinghan didn’t pull away, she held her hand tightly.
“This really is a book world?” Qinghan asked.
Shen Xian nodded.
“Then what’s supposed to happen to me and Tiantian?”
Shen Xian hesitated. She really didn’t want to tell her that Lin Qinghan was supposed to end up with that scumbag Lu Jianbai.
Qinghan noticed her hesitation and grew worried. “Say something.”
Shen Xian sighed and finally spoke, “The story was super melodramatic. Lu Jianbai bribed the original Shen Xian to save you a few times and eventually you ended up with him. Shen Xian got thrown into jail.”
Qinghan listened closely but noticed Shen Xian’s tone turning sour. She poked her in the hand. “Why do you sound more upset than I am?”
“Lu Jianbai’s trash. I’m just glad I showed up. I won’t let that happen.”
Qinghan chuckled softly but then looked up at her seriously. “And the previous Shen Xian?”
“I don’t know what happened to her. I just know I’m not here unconditionally. I have tasks to complete to stay. I can’t tell you what they are, but I swear they’re not bad things. I already see you, Tiantian, and Shen Xian’s parents as my real family.”
Qinghan nodded, but her mind was a mess. “So… what about your family in your world? A girlfriend? A boyfriend?”
Shen Xian smiled gently. “I was an orphan. No relationships either. I spent most of my time working. I had money, but no one like you or Tiantian. I don’t want to go back. I just want to stay here with you.”
Qinghan nodded again, but her grip tightened. “You’re not going to just disappear one day, are you? What if you go back? Or the plot takes over again?”
Seeing her anxiety, Shen Xian pulled her into a hug. “I haven’t even won you over yet. I plan to take care of you and Tiantian forever. I’m not going anywhere.”
She glanced at the virtual number above Lin Qinghan’s head—it had already risen to 75. Shen Xian smiled. “I’m pretty sure I’ll finish my tasks soon. You don’t have to worry, Qinghan. I just want you and Tiantian to be happy.”
Qinghan’s heart eased a little but she was still nervous, like she might wake up one day and find Shen Xian gone.
Noticing her lingering worry, Shen Xian kissed her gently on the forehead. “Don’t be scared. I told you this because I don’t want to lie to you anymore. You can trust everything I say.”
Qinghan hugged her tighter, eyes misting over. “You better not leave us. If you do, Tiantian and I will never talk to you again.”
Shen Xian’s heart ached at her tears. She leaned down and kissed her. “I’ll never leave you.”
That night, Lin Qinghan was startled awake by a bizarre nightmare—one where she married Lu Jianbai and Shen Xian was still the woman who only ever came to her for money. She sat up in bed, drenched in cold sweat, staring at the figure beside her.
Shen Xian noticed her movement and came to her bedside, only to be pulled into a tight embrace.
She wrapped her arms around her and gently stroked her back. “Bad dream? It’s okay. Dreams are always the opposite.”
Lin Qinghan’s face was pale. She gripped Shen Xian’s shirt tightly, her voice trembling. “I dreamed you were still that horrible version of yourself… and that I married Lu Jianbai. I don’t want that.”
Shen Xian cupped her gently and whispered into her ear, “What nonsense. You’re only allowed to marry me. Only mine—Mrs. Shen.” Then she kissed her lightly on the ear.
Qinghan rested her head against Shen Xian’s shoulder, still clinging to her shirt. Finally, she whispered, “Shen Xian… Can you sleep here with me tonight?”
Shen Xian answered softly, “Of course. I’ll stay right here.”
Qinghan moved closer to Tiantian to make room. She was a little embarrassed by her earlier request and turned to face her daughter.
Shen Xian lay down behind her, facing her back. She turned off the bedside lamp and scooted closer, slipping an arm around Qinghan’s waist and gently pulling her into her arms.
Qinghan barely had time to react before she found herself in a warm embrace. But her heart gradually settled. Shen Xian’s breath on the back of her neck made her heart itch with a strange warmth.
Shen Xian kissed the ends of Qinghan’s hair. “Good night, Qinghan. With me here, no more weird dreams. You’ll only dream of me.”
Qinghan gave her arm a light swat and muttered, “So full of yourself.”
But just as Shen Xian had said, nestled in that warm embrace, Lin Qinghan soon drifted off to sleep.
