Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 54
After spending the whole morning shopping, Shen Xian was feeling a bit drowsy. She lay down next to their daughter and soon fell asleep. Lin Qinghan, however, couldn’t sleep. She glanced at the slumbering Shen Xian, unable to figure out what was going through her mind.
To say she didn’t care about Shen Xian’s past with Yu Qingwan would be a lie. Even thinking about it now still left a sour taste in her heart.
Around three in the afternoon, Tiantian woke up. When she saw Shen Xian lying beside her, she immediately broke into a sweet smile and rolled over into Shen Xian’s arms to snuggle—she was really growing more and more fond of her mommy.
Shen Xian was tickled awake by the little girl’s fluffy hair brushing against her neck. She scratched at the itch and slowly opened her eyes, only to be met with her daughter’s bright smiling face.
Shen Xian pinched her chubby cheeks with a grin. “Well, well, look who it is. It’s our little rascal, Tiantian.”
Tiantian wrapped her arms around Shen Xian’s neck and giggled. “I’m not a rascal! I’m a good girl! I came to wake Mommy up~”
Shen Xian playfully lifted her up high, then caught her again in a gentle hug, making the little dimple in her cheek peek out as she giggled even harder.
“Alright, alright, Tiantian’s the best. You even help wake Mommy up!”
Hearing the laughter from the bedroom, Lin Qinghan rose from the couch and nudged the door open slightly. Inside, she saw the two playing around happily—her daughter giggling while Shen Xian lifted her high into the air. Lin Qinghan couldn’t help the smile tugging at her lips.
She cleared her throat and called out, “I’ve cut up some fruit. You two come out and eat. Honestly, how old are you? Still playing like kids…” She tried to sound annoyed, but the warmth in her tone betrayed her.
“Coming~” Shen Xian called cheerfully. She sat Tiantian down on the bed and gently undid the loose braid at the back of her head, then redid her hair into two neat little pigtails before letting her down to run out.
Tiantian dashed off with tiny footsteps to find Lin Qinghan, eager for her fruit. Shen Xian chuckled as she watched her go. “Tch, you little heartless thing, just ditching your mommy like that?”
By the time Shen Xian made it to the living room, Tiantian was already happily munching on mangosteen segments. Shen Xian smiled at the sight, and Lin Qinghan handed her a small plate of fruit salad, saying softly, “This is yours.”
Shen Xian beamed. “Thanks, Qinghan. I knew you were the nicest to me,” she said as she scooted closer.
Lin Qinghan wasn’t prepared for Shen Xian to lean in like that. The sweet orange scent of her pheromones hit her instantly, and she quickly stuffed a spoonful of orange into her mouth to mask her reaction. The fresh, tangy juice exploded across her tongue, but somehow… something still felt missing.
The scent beside her was getting stronger and stronger, and Lin Qinghan could feel her heart flutter. She took a few more bites to distract herself and suppress the strange heat rising inside her. Meanwhile, Shen Xian, completely oblivious, kept smiling at her.
Lin Qinghan felt slightly irritated. Her scent blockers weren’t even on, so Shen Xian should be reacting just like she was. Why did she look completely unaffected? Gritting her teeth, Lin Qinghan deliberately let her own pheromones flow more freely.
The warm scent of osmanthus and well tea thickened around Shen Xian. At first, she found it oddly pleasant, but soon after, she began to feel a strange heat spreading through her body.
“Qinghan,” Shen Xian said, puzzled, “don’t you feel a little hot all of a sudden?”
Lin Qinghan glanced at her calmly, suppressing her own guilty conscience. “Hot? No, I think the temperature’s just right, isn’t it, Tiantian?”
Tiantian, busy nibbling on fruit, nodded quickly before returning her full focus to the crescent-shaped mango slices on her plate. Children under 14 couldn’t sense pheromones anyway.
Shen Xian gave a small nod, still feeling the heat. She picked up a water glass and drank deeply, the burning sensation finally easing somewhat.
Lin Qinghan also withdrew her excess pheromones and returned to quietly eating her fruit.
Later that evening, around eight, Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan sat with Tiantian at the coffee table in the living room, working on a puzzle they had bought earlier—a giant 1.5m x 1m pink unicorn image.
Tiantian looked overwhelmed, clutching a small puzzle piece in her hand and staring at the massive picture before her.
Both Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan sat on either side of her, trying to suppress their laughter at her serious little expression. Shen Xian kindly helped sort through the pieces and handed her a few edge ones.
“Start with the edges,” she explained patiently. “Little by little, you’ll piece together the unicorn. Just like with anything else—don’t panic when something feels hard. Take it step by step, and you’ll get there.”
Lin Qinghan listened with a gentle smile. Shen Xian was patient and thoughtful—even though their daughter was still young and might not fully understand, she knew these little moments would have an impact.
Shen Xian handed Tiantian another edge piece and held up the picture guide. “See this one? Which part do you think it goes with?”
Tiantian squinted at the piece in her hand and then at the guide, finally mustering the courage to place it—somewhat crookedly—on the top left corner. She looked up at Shen Xian with eager eyes.
Shen Xian ruffled her hair. “That’s right! Good job! You got it—now let’s keep going. Mama and I are right here with you.”
Tiantian blushed with pride and snuggled into Shen Xian’s arms. Shen Xian felt her heart melt. She and Lin Qinghan kept Tiantian company, slowly building the top and bottom halves of the puzzle together.
Tiantian was slow, but every time she got a piece right, she was filled with joy—and with both moms by her side, even the simplest game felt like the most wonderful thing in the world.
Just as Shen Xian was helping Tiantian with another piece, her phone rang. She frowned slightly when she saw the caller ID.
It was Zhao Qiang.
“Shen-jie! Long time no see,” Zhao Qiang shouted over the booming music. “We’re at a bar on Dongyang Street. Come out and join us—someone’s treating, and they specifically asked for you!”
Shen Xian was annoyed by the noise and cut him off coldly. “No time. I’m with my kid.”
Zhao Qiang laughed. “Come on, that doesn’t sound like you. Isn’t childcare more of a woman’s or an Omega’s job? What’s an Alpha like you doing stuck at home?”
Shen Xian’s voice turned icy. “Raising a child is a shared responsibility. Using gender as an excuse to dump the burden on one person isn’t just bad for the child—it’s disrespectful to your partner. I don’t think we have anything in common anymore. Let’s not pretend to be friends.”
She hung up immediately.
Lin Qinghan heard every word and felt a warm glow in her chest. She had trusted that Shen Xian wouldn’t go out with people like that anymore, but hearing her stand her ground like that still gave her peace of mind.
Tiantian also hugged Shen Xian’s waist. “Mommy, don’t go play with bad people. Stay with Tiantian and finish the puzzle.”
Shen Xian chuckled, pinching her cheek. “Okay, I’m not going anywhere. Let’s finish the puzzle and ignore those bad guys, alright?”
“Mmhm!” Tiantian giggled and handed her another piece.
Meanwhile, at the bar, Zhao Qiang was furious. He hadn’t expected Shen Xian to not only reject him, but also lecture him—and hang up.
Yu Qingwan asked, “What happened?”
“She said she was with her kid and didn’t want to come. Then she scolded me and said we’re no longer friends,” Zhao Qiang said, frustrated.
Yu Qingwan tried to reassure him, “Don’t worry. I’ll call her. It’s probably because her ex-wife was clinging to her, and she couldn’t get away.”
Zhao Qiang nodded. “Alright. You try.”
Yu Qingwan dialed Shen Xian’s number again. The phone rang, and Shen Xian glanced at it before answering quickly—Tiantian was still eagerly waiting.
Yu Qingwan’s voice came through, soft and syrupy. “Shen Xian, want to meet up? We didn’t get to talk properly the other day… I want to explain why I went to the capital—”
“I already told you—don’t call me again,” Shen Xian cut her off coldly. “Who you’ve been with or who you want to be with has nothing to do with me. To me, you’re not even a stranger—you’re just a cup of cheap green tea. If you’re looking for a backup plan, look elsewhere. Don’t disgust me any further.”
She hung up and turned back to Tiantian, handing her a piece. Then, with a smile at Lin Qinghan, she said, “Just a green tea drama queen. After what I said, I doubt she’ll have the nerve to call again.”
Lin Qinghan huffed. “You’d better behave.”
Shen Xian grinned. “I will. Don’t worry.”
Meanwhile, Yu Qingwan was fuming. She had planned to sweet-talk Shen Xian out for drinks and make her foot the bill—just like before. But not only did Shen Xian refuse, she’d insulted her outright. Now she’d have to pay for the whole night herself. She clenched her jaw, furious.
Zhao Qiang asked, “So? Is she coming?”
Yu Qingwan forced a smile. “She said she’s busy. But don’t worry, you guys enjoy yourselves. It’s on me tonight.”
“Thanks, Miss Yu!” Zhao Qiang beamed. That’s all they were waiting for—none of them could afford the bill.
Around 9 p.m., Tiantian could barely keep her eyes open while still holding onto a puzzle piece. Shen Xian laughed and scooped her up.
“Let’s finish the rest tomorrow, okay? Time for bed.”
Tiantian closed her eyes right in Shen Xian’s arms and murmured, “Okay. Sleepy time.”
Shen Xian carried her back to the bedroom and handed her off to Lin Qinghan, who tucked her into the middle of the bed before lying on one side.
Seeing the empty spot on the other side of Tiantian, Shen Xian’s lips curled up. Was Qinghan saving that spot for her?
She climbed into bed with a smile and said softly, “Thanks for saving me a spot.”
Lin Qinghan glared at her. “I forgot to move the stuffed bear, that’s all.”
Still smiling, Shen Xian replied, “Even so, thank you.”
Ever since she’d slept in this room a few times, her own room had felt cold and lonely. Being here with Qinghan and Tiantian made her feel grounded—even if she had to whisper to avoid waking their daughter.
She glanced at the sleeping little one and let out a quiet sigh.
It’s time to deal with people like Zhao Qiang for good. They needed to stop bothering her once and for all.
