Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 52
Early the next morning, Shen Xian drove both Lin Qinghan and their daughter out. Lin Qinghan glanced at the row of bouncing pig figurines neatly lined up on the dashboard, and her mood involuntarily lifted.
However, Shen Xian had already applied a pheromone-blocking patch before leaving the house, and now, without the familiar scent she was used to, Lin Qinghan felt like something was missing.
Still, she thought to herself that maybe this wasn’t such a bad thing—at least no other Omegas would be able to catch Shen Xian’s scent.
After dropping off their daughter, Shen Xian drove Lin Qinghan to work. Lin Qinghan played with one of the pig figurines, unable to hide the smile in her eyes, and reminded Shen Xian, “Don’t forget to eat lunch on time.”
“I won’t. Don’t worry, I won’t let myself go hungry.”
Once Lin Qinghan arrived at work, Han Rui fussed over her for quite a while. Only after confirming that she was truly okay did she finally relax.
“Hey, I heard Lu Jianbai applied for a whole month of leave today. Said he fractured his arm. Could it be he’s feeling guilty and doesn’t dare come in?” Han Rui asked, glancing over at Lin Qinghan.
Lin Qinghan shook her head. “I don’t know. Either way, we’re better off staying away from people like that.”
“Exactly. We never got any solid evidence—he’s getting off way too easy.” Han Rui still fumed whenever she thought about what happened that day.
“By the way, has it been your Shen Xian taking care of you these past few days? I gotta say, your Shen Xian really seems reliable now. That mountain wasn’t exactly a gentle slope, and she carried you all the way down by herself. The two of you honestly don’t look like there’s nothing going on.” Han Rui teased, smiling as she looked at Lin Qinghan.
“Yeah, she’s been taking care of me these days. And… she’s been really kind.” Lin Qinghan couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
Han Rui bumped her playfully. “Oho—no denial now, huh? Is something good about to happen?”
“What are you talking about? Nothing’s certain yet.” Lin Qinghan pouted. Shen Xian had been good to her, yes—but she never gave any indication of deeper feelings. Maybe the little tests she tried yesterday had been too subtle.
“What’s wrong? She treats you so well and you’re still not satisfied?”
“It’s not that,” Lin Qinghan said thoughtfully after pursing her lips. “It just feels like something’s missing. She’s good to me, but it doesn’t seem like there’s anything more to it. I can’t figure her out.”
“Then why don’t you take the initiative? Your Shen Xian has her own company now—don’t let some young girl snatch her away,” Han Rui joked as she fiddled with the lab equipment in her hands.
Lin Qinghan let out a soft laugh. “That’s unlikely. She doesn’t seem too interested in that kind of thing.” After all, Jiang Xi was quite an outstanding Omega, and yet Shen Xian treated her strictly as a business partner—nothing more.
Han Rui grinned. “Alright, alright, I get it—your Shen Xian only has eyes for you.”
Meanwhile, in another corner of the office, Liu Wenwen and Zhao Qing were chatting idly.
“Did you hear? Lin Qinghan came in today,” Zhao Qing whispered to Liu Wenwen.
“I heard. She actually has the nerve to show up? She almost went into estrus in front of everyone. If her ex-wife hadn’t been there, who knows—she might’ve gone and seduced Dr. Lu again,” Liu Wenwen sneered.
“Exactly. But now she’s stuck spending all her time with her ex-wife, which is great. At least she doesn’t have time to cling to Dr. Lu anymore.”

Meanwhile, Shen Xian’s company was still under renovation. She and Mu Siyu had finalized several logistical matters, including the specifics for the upcoming interviews. Mu Siyu agreed to arrange three interviewers for Shen Xian. After confirming the details with her small team, Shen Xian also rented a nearby hotel conference room to use for the interviews.
With everything sorted, Shen Xian gave everyone the rest of the day off. The renovation noise outside was loud, and there was no point in staying once the work was done.
—
On Sunday, Lin Qinghan had the day off, and the family of three decided to go shopping. Shen Xian planned to buy some new clothes for both their daughter and Lin Qinghan. After breakfast, they left home around 9 a.m. Shen Xian drove straight to the largest shopping mall nearby. After parking in the basement garage, she and Lin Qinghan each took one of their daughter’s hands and walked into the mall together.
Their daughter had been bouncing with excitement since morning when she heard she’d be getting new clothes. Now, she was even more thrilled, happily skipping between them. Just as the three of them entered the mall, someone suddenly called out to Shen Xian.
Shen Xian turned toward the voice, frowning slightly as she stared at the woman for a few seconds. Then it clicked—this was the original host’s so-called “white moonlight,” the Omega named Yu Qingwan.
By the time Shen Xian recognized her, Yu Qingwan had already walked up, smiling as she glanced at the three of them. “Shen Xian, long time no see. How have you been?”
Yu Qingwan had a soft, delicate look, and her eyes curved slightly when she spoke to Shen Xian. Lin Qinghan, noticing that Shen Xian was frozen and staring, frowned slightly and gave a soft cough.
Only then did Shen Xian snap out of it. Looks like what Zhao Qiang told her the other day was true. She glanced at Yu Qingwan coldly and replied, “I’ve been doing well. If there’s nothing else, we’ll be going now.”
Yu Qingwan was stunned by her response. She had bumped into Zhao Qiang a while back and had casually tried to get information about Shen Xian. Shen used to be like a lovesick puppy around her, always generous, always eager to please. She had heard Shen Xian had even bought a car recently. Since she hadn’t found her next “sponsor” yet, she figured she might as well reel Shen Xian back in to splurge on her—like she used to.
Yu Qingwan had assumed Zhao Qiang would immediately let Shen Xian know she was back, hoping to get something out of it. But she waited several days and never heard from Shen Xian—no calls, no visits. And she wasn’t about to lower herself by contacting her first. She thought she’d lucked out today by running into her here.
Yu Qingwan’s gaze flicked over Lin Qinghan and the little girl. She remembered Shen Xian used to absolutely hate her wife, and had no interest in the child either. Why was she shopping with them now? And more importantly—why didn’t she want to talk to her, let alone leave with her? She’d heard Shen Xian was divorced—wasn’t she supposed to be single now?
Seeing Shen Xian about to walk away, Yu Qingwan quickly stepped forward. “Wait, Shen Xian. It’s been so long—can’t we just talk for a bit?” she said with a sweet smile, deliberately glancing at Lin Qinghan in a way that felt more like a challenge than anything else.
Their daughter, Shen Tian, was clearly unsettled by this unfamiliar “auntie” who kept trying to keep her mommy from leaving. She nervously let go of Lin Qinghan’s hand, wrapped her chubby little arms around Shen Xian’s leg, and said in her soft, sweet voice, “Mommy, weren’t we gonna buy me a pretty dress? Tiantian wants to go~”
She was clearly frightened of Yu Qingwan and hid behind Shen Xian’s leg as she spoke.
Yu Qingwan glanced at Shen Tian but didn’t respond. Back then, Shen Xian had always put her above everyone else. There was no way she’d let a child sway her—right?
The next second, Shen Xian bent down and scooped their daughter into her arms with a smile, gently pinching her chubby cheeks. “Alright, Mommy won’t chat anymore. Let’s go pick out pretty dresses for
Tiantian.”
Then she turned to Lin Qinghan and added with a smile, “Qinghan, let’s go. Tiantian’s already getting impatient.”
A slight flicker of awkwardness crossed Yu Qingwan’s face, but she quickly composed herself into her usual pleasant demeanor. “Shen Xian, it’ll only take a moment. Just a few words—it won’t take up much of your time.”
Seeing Shen Xian remain silent, Yu Qingwan turned toward Lin Qinghan with a practiced smile. “Miss Lin, would that be alright?”
Lin Qinghan gave her a measured glance, and seeing Shen Xian clearly had no interest in talking to Yu Qingwan, she felt much more at ease. “Sorry, we’re leaving,” she replied calmly, and walked off toward the second floor of the mall with Shen Xian. Throughout the entire exchange, Shen Xian didn’t spare Yu Qingwan another glance.
Yu Qingwan hadn’t expected such a reaction. She called out loudly after them, “Shen Xian! Are you still mad because I left for Beijing without saying goodbye? I’m sorry—”
The sound of Yu Qingwan’s voice instantly grated on Shen Xian’s nerves. With one arm securely holding their daughter, she used her other hand to grab Lin Qinghan’s wrist and quickened her pace.
Lin Qinghan looked down at Shen Xian’s hand holding her wrist, and her lips curled into a slight smile. She deliberately asked, “Why didn’t you stay to catch up with her? Aren’t you going to introduce us?”
Shen Xian glanced at her, exasperated. “She’s just someone irrelevant. No need to bother.”
“Irrelevant?” Lin Qinghan huffed, pursing her lips and lightly kicking the steps in front of her. “Funny, I seem to remember you used to like her quite a bit. Now she comes running after you and suddenly she’s irrelevant?”
Shen Xian nearly wanted to cry. That was the original Shen Xian’s mess! And honestly, her taste had been terrible—falling for a manipulative, passive-aggressive Omega like Yu Qingwan? Compared to Qinghan, there was no contest.
“That was ages ago,” Shen Xian said hurriedly. “I can barely remember what she even looks like. Qinghan, forget about her—let’s go buy clothes.”
To keep Lin Qinghan from dwelling on Yu Qingwan any longer, Shen Xian led her quickly into a children’s clothing store and set their daughter down. The moment she saw all the colorful clothes, the little girl’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
Shen Xian walked over and picked out three dresses, two animal-themed jackets, and two pairs of cute pants. As she handed them to Lin Qinghan to hold, she crouched down and asked their daughter, “Tiantian, do you like these? Want to go try them on?”
Tiantian nodded her tiny pigtails. “Yes! Mommy and Mama help Tiantian~”
Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan exchanged a smile, both of their eyes full of warmth. Thankfully, the fitting room was quite spacious. One of them helped hold the clothes while the other helped their daughter change.
The first dress she tried on was a soft pink princess gown—adorably frilly and absolutely perfect. Tiantian looked sweet and delicate, like a little doll.
After trying on several dresses, she moved on to the jackets—one with a deer motif and one with a panda design. Both looked great on her, and the pants fit just right too.
“Miss, you have great taste. These are some of our most popular items. Would you like me to wrap them all up?” the enthusiastic sales associate asked, seeing how many outfits Shen Xian had picked for the little girl.
Shen Xian nodded. “They’re all lovely. Yes, please pack them all.”
“Certainly, ma’am. Please follow me to the cashier.” The associate, even more attentive now, quickly led the way.
Lin Qinghan didn’t try to pay this time. For one, the clothes were for their daughter. And besides, always fighting over who gets to pay didn’t feel like something a family should do. Still, this store wasn’t cheap—and judging by what they just bought, it probably cost more than her monthly salary.
Tiantian was wearing a dress with a cute little kitten print. Shen Xian found it so adorable that she asked the associate for a pair of scissors, cut off the tags, and let Tiantian wear it right away.
By the time they left the store, Shen Xian had several shopping bags in hand, and Tiantian, thrilled with her new dress, was clinging to her leg and acting extra sweet.
Shen Xian turned to Lin Qinghan with a smile. “Qinghan, let’s go pick out a few things for you too.”
Lin Qinghan was about to decline but swallowed her words. She remembered how Shen Xian used to spend money freely on other women—it was only right she bought something for her now. Her ears flushed a little red. After all, it wasn’t unusual for wives to give each other gifts.
Lin Qinghan had very fair skin, so she looked good in both light and dark tones. Shen Xian picked out a red dress and a white one for her to try on, while she herself tried on a black cinched-waist dress and a deep navy one.
When Lin Qinghan stepped out of the fitting room, Shen Xian’s eyes lit up. Lin Qinghan usually favored darker, more muted colors, but the red dress suited her perfectly.
“They’re all beautiful. Try this suit next,” Shen Xian said, handing her a tailored charcoal-grey blazer set. It was a stylish design with a contrasting neckline and a slim silver chain linking the sides at the waist—sleek and modern.
In the end, Shen Xian picked out five outfits for Lin Qinghan.
Lin Qinghan tugged on her sleeve and whispered, “Isn’t this too much? I don’t need so many.”
Shen Xian just smiled. “It’s fine. It’s not often we get to shop like this. Just let me spoil you today.”
The sales associate chimed in helpfully, “She’s right, ma’am. Everything you tried on looked wonderful on you. And it’s your wife’s treat!”
Lin Qinghan’s face flushed a shade deeper.
By the time they checked out—with Shen Xian’s own four items added in—both women had their hands full with shopping bags and couldn’t even hold Tiantian’s hand.
Noticing a small cold drink kiosk in the open area nearby, Shen Xian said, “Qinghan, why don’t you and Tiantian rest over there while I take these to the car? I won’t be able to carry all this and hold her.”
Lin Qinghan nodded. “Alright. We’ll wait for you there.”
Shen Xian headed down to the underground parking lot to unload the bags, while Lin Qinghan took Tiantian to the cold drink shop. She placed the bags on one of the benches and sat down with her daughter in her lap, letting her pick a dessert.
Tiantian chose a mango pudding, and Lin Qinghan ordered herself a milkshake.
“Mama, let’s get something for Mommy too!” Tiantian chirped from her lap.
Lin Qinghan pinched her daughter’s cheek, amused. “Of course. We won’t leave Mama out.”
Soon, the waiter brought over their order.
Meanwhile, Yu Qingwan, who had been lingering in the mall, had been secretly watching them the entire time. She was stunned by how much Shen Xian had bought. While the brands weren’t exactly luxury labels, they were still premium. Back when she was toying with Shen Xian, the most she ever got in one trip was one or two pieces.
Seeing the bags in Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan’s hands stirred something bitter in her.
Wasn’t she supposed to be my little lapdog? Why isn’t she falling for it anymore?
A calculating smile crept onto Yu Qingwan’s lips as she began walking toward the cold drink shop where Lin Qinghan and Tiantian were seated.
