Transmigrated as the Vampire Alpha of the Omega Heroine - Chapter 41
The final exam ended with the concluding whistle. Freed from all restraints, the omega cheerfully dashed out of the examination hall and leaped into the waiting arms of Gu Li outside. She affectionately nuzzled against the alpha’s neck, even boldly planting a firm kiss on Gu Li’s neck, completely unfazed by how stiff the person holding her became.
“Gu Li! I’m done with my exams~” Jiang Nian draped her entire body over the alpha like a boneless creature, letting Gu Li half-carry her onto the bicycle.
The little omega propped her elbows on the bicycle’s front seat, tilting her chin up with a proud expression. “I solved the last big problem. Pretty impressive, huh?”
The alpha, whose fangs were subtly threatening to elongate, carefully covered her mouth and answered evasively, “Amazing, so good. Let’s go home.”
But Jiang Nian kept leaning toward the front seat, blocking where Gu Li needed to sit.
“Exams are over.”
“Mhm.”
The alpha in front of her remained woodenly trying to grip the bicycle handles, one hand stubbornly refusing to leave her mouth. This prompted Jiang Nian, half-sprawled on the front seat, to prop herself up on one elbow while tugging Gu Li’s clothes closer with her other hand.
“I’m definitely passing the first-tier cutoff.”
She blinked wasn’t the meaning obvious enough?
They were both going to their dream universities. Shouldn’t her status as a provisional girlfriend be upgraded already?
Jiang Nian tried to peer past the hand tightly covering the alpha’s mouth, waiting for the moment Gu Li would lower it to make her move.
The spot on her neck that had been kissed felt burning hot. Gu Li suppressed the urge to let her fangs extend, swallowed hard, and finally lowered her hand under Jiang Nian’s expectant gaze.
The shockingly proactive little omega instantly closed the distance. That delicate little face drew near so near that the alpha could see her own reflection in those brown pupils as Jiang Nian’s gaze dropped to her lips.
A soft touch lingered on her lips, while the burning spot on her neck was soothed by Jiang Nian’s cooler body temperature.
It made her close her eyes involuntarily.
The alpha’s hands released the bicycle handles to encircle the slender waist before her.
The ambitious adventurer had no intention of stopping at a mere taste. She began with careful exploration before boldly advancing to conquer new territory.
Her practiced movements didn’t seem like a novice’s first kiss at all.
Cherry stems were rhythmically tangled, effortlessly tied into knots.
“Lavender smells so nice.”
Jiang Nian lifted her head, biting her lower lip with a childlike delight of someone who’d gotten their favorite treat.
The little alpha was still catching her breath. She licked her slightly elongated fangs apparently her earlier restraint hadn’t fully worked and realized she’d leaked quite a bit of pheromones. Sniffling, she looked at the beaming Jiang Nian with the expression of someone who’d just been thoroughly teased.
“Girlfriend.”
She finally understood. Nian Nian was bringing up the promotion.
“Girlfriend.” Jiang Nian’s eyes curved into happy crescents, as if still savoring their kiss.
Gu Li suddenly felt that her behavior wasn’t quite right. As an alpha, she was always being led by her Omega instead of taking initiative. She took a tentative step forward, timidly leaned in, and lightly pecked Jiang Nian’s moist lips before quickly averting her gaze.
“Consider this sealed…”
She couldn’t easily tease people like the Omega before her could, otherwise, a single kiss wouldn’t be enough to quell the fire that would ignite.
After selling all the books left at school to the recycling uncle at the gate and hurriedly helping Jiang Nian’s family move, the day of the graduation class dinner arrived.
Though only a few days had passed, their classmates looked completely different. Out of their uniforms and into their own clothes, each had developed their own distinct style. Some girls had even put on exquisite makeup together, looking like elegant white swans.
Gu Li sat at her seat waiting for Jiang Nian. She’d received a message from Jiang Nian earlier saying she’d come on her own and that Gu Li didn’t need to pick her up.
Class 3’s tables were in the center of the hall, and the alpha’s gaze kept drifting toward the entrance.
Her phone vibrated twice in her pocket, and Gu Li immediately pulled it out.
Wen Ru: “The competition class is going to toast the tutors first. Come quickly.”
She remembered this had been mentioned before. As the top scorer in this year’s competitions, she had no reason not to go. Since Jiang Nian hadn’t arrived yet, she took off her jacket and left it on the seat, sending a message telling the Omega to sit by the black bomber jacket when she arrived.
The teenagers, fresh from overcoming their first major life hurdle, moved through the hall with glasses in hand, toasting every teacher who had helped them. Some took modest sips, while others downed their drinks in excitement. Gu Li led the group but consciously moderated her intake.
She had just finished treatment the night before and couldn’t drink too much. After making the rounds and seeing the dishes being served, the teachers urged them to return to their classes. Gu Li’s thoughts had already flown back, Jiang Nian should have arrived by now.
But her steps were halted by Wen Ru behind her. Near the hotel’s emergency exit, the Omega’s face was slightly flushed from drinking as she tugged at Gu Li’s white T-shirt.
Gu Li turned back in confusion, but Wen Ru met her gaze naturally. “There’s something I want to tell you,” she said.
She nodded toward the dim emergency exit and walked in first.
The alpha followed, a vague premonition forming in her heart.
In the darkness, Wen Ru stood with her back to Gu Li, barely illuminated by the sliver of light from the hall door, revealing her nervously clasped hands behind her back.
“I got into A University through the independent enrollment program with my provincial first prize,” Wen Ru began, reciting the speech she’d long prepared in her mind.
“The first time I saw you in the competition class, I thought an alpha like you was truly amazing, excellent in both academics and personality. With someone like you running ahead so swiftly, how could I dare to stop striving while following behind? So I chased after you step by step, eventually standing on the same starting line as you. Now, we can even study and grow together on the same campus.”
Wen Ru turned her head.
“Gu Li, I like—”
The hall’s closed door was pushed open, and the blinding light forced the Omega, who had just adjusted to the darkness, to shield her eyes with her hand.
In that harsh light, another shadow appeared, overlapping with the alpha standing behind her.
This minor interruption wasn’t enough to deter the Omega’s confession. She took a deep breath and finished the unspoken words.
“I like you. Can we be together?”
Graduation season was also confession season. During this special time, the young alpha received a heartfelt confession from an Omega who had silently followed in her footsteps to achieve great results.
It was youthful and inspiring but unfortunately, it wasn’t directed at the right person.
A familiar small hand pinched the alpha’s lower back. Without even turning around, she knew exactly who had arrived.
Gently, she reached back to stop the mischievous hand, then softly said to Wen Ru, “I’m glad I could be a source of strength for you. Congratulations on getting into University A, I’m honored to be your fellow alum. But I’m sorry, I can’t accept your confession.”
By now, Wen Ru had adjusted to the light and could clearly see the figure behind the alpha. The girl’s hostile gaze was fixed on her, and the alpha in front was clearly reaching out to soothe her.
“I already have someone I like, and I hope you find someone special too,” Gu Li said apologetically, carefully pulling Jiang Nian out from behind her.
“You two… since when…?” Wen Ru’s mind was spinning. She wasn’t from Class 3 and had only spent time with Gu Li during after-school tutoring sessions. Back then, Jiang Nian had always gone to painting classes with Mu Lan, there had never seemed to be any connection between them, at least not in her eyes.
Later, she had devoted all her time to preparing for independent enrollment, shutting out the world and missing the rumors about this pair who, though not officially a couple, acted more intimate than most.
“The child you wanted to give candy to that time…” Suddenly, it clicked. Wen Ru finally understood why Gu Li had let her cry during the semifinals.
She had already belonged to someone else.
“It was her,” Gu Li said, her eyes curving into a smile as she gave Jiang Nian’s hand a gentle squeeze. The quiet little Omega beside her wore delicate makeup, her small earlobes adorned with the star-shaped ear clips they had bought together, Gu Li’s on the right, Jiang Nian’s on the left. The subtle yet bold display of possessiveness from the Omega filled her with satisfaction.
The bitter atmosphere of a failed confession was slightly diluted by the rosy bubbles between these two. Wen Ru glanced at the pair standing close together, inexplicably feeling a strange emotion. She realized she didn’t even feel like crying over losing someone she liked. Unconsciously, she muttered, “How pay…”
If she couldn’t be the official partner of the one she liked, then shipping that person’s CP didn’t seem so bad either.
Dazedly shifting her gaze away from the alpha’s doting expression, she silently pulled out two tickets from her pocket. “Then… you two should take these.”
She shoved them into Jiang Nian’s cold hands and hurried back into the hall.
The little Omega didn’t even glance at the tickets before stuffing them into her pocket. The increasingly scorching gaze from Gu Li beside her made it hard to maintain her icy expression.
But she was still angry. Ever since hearing those words of affection, her Omega instincts had proven right this class monitor from Class 1 had been eyeing her person from the start.
She turned her head away, waiting for this dense alpha to coax her. Even though it wasn’t Gu Li’s fault, her pre-heat emotions were naturally unstable, this reaction was only to be expected.
The familiar softness in her hands withdrew, leaving only the back of her Omega’s head, a clear sign of displeasure. Now officially a girlfriend, Gu Li seemed to have gained some awareness. She moved in front of Jiang Nian, carefully pulling her into an embrace and pressing a kiss to her hair.
“Nian Nian.”
No response.
She then pecked at the Omega’s lips.
“Nian Nian?”
Still no response.
Jiang Nian pouted, her gaze stubbornly fixed on a corner.
Even lip-to-lip contact failed to appease the Omega, leaving Gu Li at a loss.
The alpha stood frozen, her comforting efforts stalleduntil the Omega in her arms shifted. Small hands fisted in Gu Li’s collar as Jiang Nian looked up with a glare that was both fierce and slightly childish. “I want to leave my mark,” she declared, “so everyone knows you’re mine.”
