Transmigrated as the Vampire Alpha of the Omega Heroine - Chapter 42
The omega, who could barely meet the alpha’s gaze by standing on tiptoe, now exuded a presence that far surpassed Gu Li’s before her.
Jiang Nian pulled the other person back a few steps, closing the emergency exit door that Wen Ru hadn’t shut properly. Pressing her heel against the doorframe, she still didn’t let go of the collar she was gripping.
“How do you want to mark me?”
Gu Li allowed Jiang Nian to drag her closer with that kitten-like strength.
Her eyes hadn’t yet adjusted to the darkness of the escape corridor. After the initial flicker of light faded, she could only make out a vague silhouette. She lowered her head slightly, instinctively trying to locate Jiang Nian’s face, her nose twitching unconsciously.
Suddenly, her left hand was taken and carefully pressed against the door.
Jiang Nian’s voice followed immediately.
“Hold it there, or someone might come in.”
Backlit, her eyes already adjusted to the dark lifted to meet the alpha’s.
The soft, thin fabric of the summer white T-shirt slipped easily under her tug, revealing half of the alpha’s collarbone. Her fingers brushed against it, deliberately or not, stirring something restless within her.
The agitation of her approaching heat had been simmering beneath the surface. She had planned to patiently follow her classmates for dinner, maybe some karaoke, to pass the time and ease into it gradually.
But now, she didn’t want to wait anymore.
Ask me how I want to mark you?
Everywhere. All over. Inside and out, day and night if possible.
Her gaze flickered to the alpha’s neck, where the height difference obscured the nape from view. Frustrated, she raised her left hand to cover Gu Li’s gentle eyes and muttered,
“Everywhere needs to be marked.”
The alpha’s fluttering lashes swept against her palm like soft little brushes, soothing some of her discontent while igniting unspoken desires.
The marks before were useless. People still keep approaching, one after another, first Zhang Nan, now Wen Ru. Who’s next?
Might as well hang a glaring sign around the alpha’s neck, carved with Jiang Nian’s name, declaring her as mine. Preferably right on the throat.
She watched as Gu Li’s lips parted slightly, slowly forming a quiet “Okay.” Gu Li didn’t understand her meaning at all, yet she smiled so sweetly, lips slightly pursed as if inviting any mark, any mischief.
I don’t just want to kiss you. Kisses aren’t proof enough.
A pang of inexplicable frustration hit her.
The alpha, who had seemed so agreeable moments ago, suddenly looked annoyingly punchable especially those pouting lips.
Fine, I won’t kiss your mouth.
She buried her face against Gu Li’s collarbone, uncaring now about the hairstyle she’d spent so much time fixing earlier. Nestling into the alpha’s embrace, she let herself indulge.
Gu Li’s free hand covered Jiang Nian’s over her eyes, reclaiming her vision. The first thing she saw was the fluffy little head pressed against her, followed by the warm sensation blooming at her collarbone.
The fire stoked step by step in her arms spread inward, connecting every spark until it blazed into an inferno within her chest.
“So we’re starting here first?”
The omega, engrossed in her own task, paid her no mind and stubbornly embroidered flowers according to her own whims some in full bloom, others budding, and some growing wild. Only after a long while did she quietly pull away.
She had finally managed to suppress those wild thoughts in her heart.
Satisfied with her handiwork, she released her grip on the collar and, with a surprising sense of service, smoothed out the alpha’s wrinkled shirt.
Even if the white T-shirt was pulled back up, it couldn’t hide the scattered marks she had left behind. The omega’s dazed eyes gradually regained clarity as she regained control, stepping back to lean against the door, slowly steadying her breathing.
The sound of their classmates chatting and eating grew louder from behind the door. They needed to return soon, or their absence would surely be noticed.
With that thought, she turned to open the door she had closed earlier, glancing back to call the alpha to join her for the graduation dinner.
But the hand that had been pressed against the door didn’t let go.
The lingering effects of the alcohol from earlier, combined with the fire that had been stoked, shifted the dynamic, now it was the alpha, who had just been at her mercy, who took the initiative.
The omega’s waist was seized, the former victor now captured by the defeated.
“You tease and then run off without taking responsibility? How bold of you, Jiang Nian.”
Her voice was hoarse, and the grip she had on Jiang Nian’s wrist as she tried to turn back toward the hall tightened.
“Weren’t you going to mark me everywhere?”
Gu Li pointed to her neck, then her lips, cheeks, forehead, every inch of exposed skin making Jiang Nian hear a hint of grievance in her words.
Suddenly, Jiang Nian wasn’t worried about being discovered anymore.
“The marks I want to leave aren’t like this.”
The kitten-like omega allowed the alpha to pull her closer, lifting her head to plant a soft kiss on her face.
“The marks I want are the kind that, no matter where you go, everyone will know at a glance that you’re mine. Not here, not here, and not here.”
She kissed every spot Gu Li had pointed to earlier, then took the alpha’s hand and placed it over her scent gland. The heat she had just suppressed surged back.
“Can I leave that kind of mark?”
The thin suppressant patch might as well not exist, it did nothing to dull Gu Li’s senses.
Of course she could. Not only did Jiang Nian want to mark her, but she also wanted to mark Jiang Nian in return.
She had spent the past few days searching for a way to prove herself, and now the opportunity had presented itself.
The only problem was timing, she had only stopped her medication a day ago, and she wasn’t confident she wouldn’t falter halfway through. A small shred of alpha pride refused to let her fail a third time.
She remembered Dr. Ji’s advice from two days ago, to hold back just one more day before she’d be completely free. At the time, it had seemed like nothing, but now it felt like an obstacle slowing her down.
Then, her stomach growled loudly giving her the perfect excuse to stall.
“I’m a little hungry… Let’s go eat first.”
The unconfident alpha retreated, smothering the fire in her chest. The arm that had been wrapped around the omega’s waist loosened its grip.
Omega nodded reluctantly and obediently followed her out. She had indeed heard the growling from Gu Li’s stomach earlier, it wouldn’t do to let her go hungry just to stamp documents in the emergency exit.
Besides, they had planned to discuss this later anyway. All this back-and-forth was just unbearably frustrating.
“Come! Professor Gu, let me toast you with this drink, thank you for all your help with my math during the exam crunch.” Mu Lan, sharp-eyed, noticed the faint strawberry marks while giving Jiang Nian, who was busy eating, a thumbs-up before raising her glass to Gu Li.
After this meal, everyone who had seen each other daily in the same classroom would soon scatter to different places. Some at the table had already started tearing up inexplicably as they ate. The restaurant’s built-in karaoke system played Mayday’s “Cheers” from the speakers.
The music amplified the emotions in the air, making people unconsciously drink more than usual. Even the soft drinks seemed to carry a tipsy effect. By the time Gu Li snapped out of it, the little omega beside her had already finished eating and was waiting patiently.
Post-dinner graduation activities would split everyone into smaller groups. But what could their little duo do? It was only 6:30 PM, still two hours before the time Specialist Ji had suggested she could attempt marking.
Jiang Nian slipped her warm hand into Gu Li’s pocket and whispered, “Full? Let’s go for a walk.”
A stroll to digest, then back to their earlier conversation about stamping documents.
“Huh?” Gu Li blinked, snapping her focus away from the clock before picking up her long-abandoned chopsticks to chew on a cold, limp vegetable leaf. “Just… a little longer.”
Buying time.
Jiang Nian sat back, idly rummaging through her pockets until she found the two tickets Wen Ru had given her.
The elegant design and the premium price printed on the stubs piqued her curiosity enough to look it up on her phone.
“Immersive Script Experience Hall.”
And not just any script, these were pre-selected for “The Princess and Her Consort.”
The heat from their earlier encounter in the emergency exit flared up again. Had Wen Ru planned to drag Gu Li into roleplay the moment her confession succeeded?
She tossed the tickets onto the table.
Her heat was probably approaching, Jiang Nian blamed the inexplicable irritation on that and snatched the chopsticks from Gu Li, who was still picking at her food.
“Stop forcing it. I heard you burping earlier.”
Caught red-handed, Gu Li stood up sheepishly, resigned to wandering outside for a full two hours. If she couldn’t stall any longer, she’d just have to confess to her kitten that she was like some reverse Cinderella, needing a specific hour to unlock certain… abilities.
“Alright, let’s go.”
She reached out to take Jiang Nian’s hand but paused at the sight of the discarded tickets.
“How about we go here to walk off the meal?”
“What?”
The omega’s expression darkened at the mention of the tickets.
“No. We’ll buy our own. Pick a script you like, we’ll return these to Wen Ru. They’re valid for another month; she can take whoever she likes.”
Gu Li caught on immediately, neatly resolving the issue.
Immersive murder mystery games, just two hours of effortless entertainment. Alpha couldn’t help but applaud his own cleverness as he placed the order on his phone.
“Picked one yet? My Didi ride’s almost here.”
“The Princess and Her Consort, we’re sticking with that.”
Jiang Nian scanned through the scripts but none felt quite right.
Besides, this was the perfect chance to see what kind of scenarios other omegas had chosen for Gu Li.
