- Chapter 70.1 - She Kissed Her
On the other side, after hanging up the phone, Gu Junsi looked meaningfully at Song Xinglin, a teasing smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“So, what exactly did our Xinglin do to offend our daughter?”
Song Xinglin gave a soft snort. “If you had seen what I saw, you would’ve done the same.”
Gu Junsi frowned. “Seen what?”
A folder was sent to Gu Junsi. Song Xinglin’s assistant had quickly gathered every bit of information available online.
“Holy—!” Gu Junsi exploded the moment he saw the public slander Gu Qing had endured, “Who the hell is smearing our A-Qing?!”
Then he read about how she was forced to film variety shows shortly after her car accident, and how her manager had secretly signed a bunch of exploitative contracts behind her back. Gu Junsi looked like he was about to combust.
“I’m going to kill that damn manager!”
His rage was so intense that tears started streaming down his face.
“I can’t even imagine how much pain and helplessness A-Qing must have felt back then. No wonder the background during our video call looked oddly low—I didn’t realize she was sitting in a wheelchair. I didn’t even have the nerve to ask about the bandage on her face.”
“Sob sob sob…” Gu Junsi buried himself in Song Xinglin’s arms. “A-Lin, go deal with that manager!”
“Wait—don’t tell me you already did, and A-Qing found out but still defended them? Do we need to get a therapist for her? How deep must the manipulation go for her to still protect that scumbag… sob sob sob!”
The more he thought about it, the more miserable he felt. Tears flowed like a river.
Song Xinglin, clearly experienced in dealing with this, patted his head with one hand and wiped away his tears with the other.
“There, there. That’s not what happened. I just paid off a few contracts for her. Maybe she felt the amount was too much and didn’t want to owe us a favor.”
“How much?” Gu Junsi looked at her with teary, blurry eyes.
“Just over a billion or so.”
“What?! That little?! Waaaah—” Gu Junsi sobbed even harder. “We must treat A-Qing well from now on. We need to make up for everything she had lost.”
Song Xinglin gently rubbed his head. “Don’t worry. I’ve already sent people to investigate in person. Everyone who ever wronged her will be dealt with—none of them will be spared.”
“Now stop crying. Don’t let A-Qing see you with those rabbit-red eyes tomorrow.”
At that, Gu Junsi instantly stopped. He needed to present himself as a dignified and reliable father—not a weepy bunny.

Meanwhile, Gu Yulong had refused Gu Lulu’s request, but she knew her cousin would soon find someone else to contact Fourth Uncle and Aunt.
Although she firmly believed that Gu Lulu must have been deceived—there was no way their long-lost daughter was still alive—she still pulled some strings and found an excuse to visit the island.
She lived closer than Qi Siyu and the others and had left earlier, so she arrived near the island ahead of them.
But she didn’t go ashore immediately. If she visited for only a trivial matter, her aunt would quickly send her away.
And if she couldn’t meet Gu Lulu and the imposter daughter, how would she expose their lies?
She waited until she saw a yacht pulling up at the dock. With binoculars, she spotted them disembarking. Only then did she prepare to follow.

The yacht docked, and Gu Lulu led the three others ashore.
From above, the island was covered in lush greenery, and the air smelled fresh and clean.
“Careful, it’s slippery here,” Gu Lulu said as she supported Gu Xiaoling.
The moment her feet hit solid ground, Gu Xiaoling exclaimed, “Yes! I’m alive again!”
Then—thump!—she slipped and fell.
Qi Siyu burst into laughter. “Hahahaha! Gu Qing, look at her!”
Gu Qing withdrew her gaze from the distance. “Hm?”
By the time she turned her head, Gu Xiaoling had already gotten back on her feet. Gu Qing handed her a tissue. “Did you hurt yourself?”
“No, no.” Gu Xiaoling awkwardly wiped her hands and patted her knees. She was scrambling to look composed, “I’m wide awake now! Totally not dizzy anymore!”
Gu Qing nodded.
As Qi Siyu pushed the wheelchair forward, she leaned in and whispered, “What were you staring at just now? You looked so absorbed.”
“I’m not sure. It just felt like someone was over there—but I couldn’t see anyone,” Gu Qing said calmly.
“Geez, don’t say creepy stuff like that by the sea,” Qi Siyu rubbed her arms, suddenly spooked.
Gu Qing looked up at her. “Don’t be scared.”
“Heh, as long as you’re here, I’m not.” Qi Siyu grinned.

Gu Junsi and Song Xinglin were already waiting near the dock. When they saw Gu Xiaoling fall, they rushed over.
“You okay?”
Faced with a second round of embarrassment, Gu Xiaoling quickly waved her hands, “I’m fine, really!”
The group gathered at the dock.
“A-Qing, this is my wife, Song Xinglin. Xinglin, this is A-Qing.” Gu Junsi nearly lost his composure when he saw the wheelchair, but managed to hold it together long enough to make the introductions.
“A-Qing, nice to meet you,” Song Xinglin’s eyes were misty. The moment she saw Gu Qing, a long-dormant well of maternal instinct began to swell in her heart.
This child had to be the daughter they had lost years ago.
“Hello. I’m Gu Qing,” she replied coolly. Compared to their overwhelming emotion, her demeanor remained reserved and calm.
After brief introductions, the group fell into a moment of silence.
It was Gu Qing who finally broke it. “Let’s do the DNA test.”
That was, after all, the reason they had come.
If a biological connection existed, they could talk about everything else afterward.
“Wouldn’t you like to rest a bit first?” Gu Junsi’s gaze involuntarily fell to her legs.
“No need. Let’s go,” Gu Qing said firmly. They didn’t press her further.
There was a full-fledged hospital on the island, with a research facility in the basement.
Though it primarily focused on neurology, other departments were well equipped too.
The family doctor—who had watched Gu Junsi grow up—was shocked when she saw Gu Qing.
Especially since she remembered Gu Junsi’s rebellious youth all too clearly.
My god… Could this be the long-lost child?
After drawing blood from all three, the doctor sent the samples off for testing. Then she returned and subtly observed Gu Qing’s face.
Didn’t look like cosmetic surgery…
Twenty minutes later, the results were in.
The doctor thoughtfully printed three copies of each report to avoid passing them around.
Gu Qing glanced at the results. These two were indeed her biological parents.
But so what?
She had long passed the age of yearning for parental love.
The next second, Gu Junsi and Song Xinglin hugged her tightly.
“Sob sob sob—our precious daughter! You’ve suffered so much!”
“From now on, with us around, no one will ever hurt you again.”
Her father was heartbroken over the suffering she had endured in the past.
Her mother promised she would protect her from now on.
Their embrace was… surprisingly warm.
Gu Qing’s heart softened, and she allowed herself to stay in their arms for nearly half an hour.
Only when their backs began to ache from bending over for so long did they finally, with forced composure, let go.
Once reason returned, Song Xinglin immediately grew concerned about Gu Qing’s injuries.
“Do you want to have a quick check-up while you’re here? All the medical equipment here is the latest and best.”
Gu Qing stood up effortlessly and took a few steps.
“My legs are fine. I was faking it.”
Then she peeled off the bandage from her face.
“This is healed too.”
Gu Lulu and the doctor were stunned. Gu Junsi, on the other hand, immediately burst into tears again.
“You were already healed but still had to pretend to be injured? Oh, my poor A-Qing… just how many people have tried to hurt you?!”
Song Xinglin gently cupped Gu Qing’s face—smooth and delicate, undeniably real.
“You’ve suffered enough. With me here now, I won’t let anyone bully you again.”
Gu Qing wasn’t used to such overt emotions or concern. She shifted uncomfortably and gave a quiet “Mm,” then sat back down.
“No need to worry about me.”
She glanced at Gu Junsi, who was still sobbing, as if wanting to say something. Song Xinglin gave him a pinch, and only then did he reluctantly stop crying.
“I’ve got twenty days to spend with you. After that, I’ll be on set filming. You can do whatever you want with me during that time,” Gu Qing said calmly.
Though her tone remained flat, those who knew her—like Gu Xiaoling and Qi Siyu—understood: this was already her way of showing warmth.
“Great! That’s more than enough,” Song Xinglin responded eagerly.
“Let’s spend a few days relaxing here on the island. Then come home with us and meet the rest of the family, okay?”
Gu Qing nodded. “I’m fine with anything.”
Even though she said so, Song Xinglin and Gu Junsi still wanted to make sure everything made her happy.
The challenge was that Gu Qing rarely showed her feelings. If you didn’t ask her directly, it was hard to tell what she liked or disliked.
Song Xinglin turned her attention to the two people who had accompanied Gu Qing. They looked a bit silly—probably easier to coax into sharing.
She decided to start with the younger one—Gu Xiaoling.
At the same time, she asked Gu Lulu to quietly introduce Gu Qing to the rest of the Gu family, emphasizing just how wealthy and generous she and Gu Junsi were.
Gu Lulu’s internal monologue: Classic Fourth Aunt—so flamboyant.
As noon approached, it was time for lunch. Song Xinglin and Gu Junsi had already made up their minds to cook for their daughter themselves, welcoming her home with a meal full of love.
They had been preparing ingredients since dawn; now, all that remained was to cook up a little extra “love.”
“A-Qing, go put your things away and feel free to explore. There’s no place you’re not allowed to go. I’ll call you when lunch is ready,” Song Xinglin said cheerfully, taking the opportunity to add everyone on messaging apps.
Qi Siyu looked at the new contact on her phone and had a bad feeling.
Would they eventually start wondering—like Gu Lulu had—why an Alpha was always hanging around Gu Qing?
Qi Siyu made a decision: while on this island, she would stop sneaking around at night like some lovestruck thief.
Better to behave herself and avoid getting caught red-handed again.
Just then, Gu Qing, who was unpacking in her room, received a message from her:
[Qi Siyu]: “Situation’s tense. No night visits—for now.”
Gu Qing recalled Qi Siyu’s use of the word “thrilling.”
Like… an affair kind of thrilling?
She replied:
[Gu Qing]: “Aren’t we just good friends?”
What does a “tight situation” have to do with “good friends”?
Qi Siyu covered her flushed face. It felt like Gu Qing was hinting at something.
No, no—just my imagination.
Still unsure what to reply, she ended up sending a meme of a “jealous lemon gremlin” giggling.
Gu Qing opened it, poked the lemon’s rosy cheeks with her finger—almost like poking Qi Siyu herself.
A moment later, she saved the sticker to her own collection.
She had stolen many stickers from Qi Siyu’s phone before, but had never used any.

Lunchtime.
The entire dining table was packed with dishes large and small.
Gu Yulong followed behind Song Xinglin, wearing a flawless smile.
“Fourth Aunt, I’ll go call Lulu-jie and Qing down.”
“No need—” Song Xinglin began, but before she could finish, she saw Gu Qing and the others already coming downstairs. She rushed over with a beaming smile.
“A-Qing! I was just about to call you! Come, come—take a look and see what you would like to eat.”
Behind her, Gu Yulong’s expression darkened slightly.
Even after seeing the DNA results, she still believed Gu Qing must’ve forged them.
She’d heard rumors that Fifth Uncle’s bars had closed down again—two this time. He was probably near bankruptcy.
So, scheming for Fourth Uncle’s wealth made perfect sense.
But Gu Yulong wasn’t about to give up what she had worked so hard to secure. She had spent years building her position in this family—she wasn’t about to let some long-lost fake daughter take it all away.
Even if Gu Qing didn’t die… she would make sure Fourth Uncle and Aunt came to hate her.
As Song Xinglin led Gu Qing to the table by the hand, Gu Yulong quickly stepped forward with a bright, enthusiastic smile.
“Hi, A-Qing! I’m Gu Yulong, your cousin and Fourth Aunt’s assistant. If there’s anything work-related, just talk to her through me. I’m so happy to witness your return.”
She was so genuine, so welcoming—it was almost infectious.
If Qi Siyu hadn’t heard Gu Lulu’s rants or read the original novel, she might’ve actually thought Gu Yulong was a good person.
Gu Lulu, overhearing all this, rolled her eyes internally.
“Hi.” Gu Qing nodded coldly.
The indifference nearly cracked Gu Yulong’s smile.
Sure, her parents had fallen from grace and lost favor, but she was still a Gu family heiress. Later, she’d even found a powerful backer—no one had ever dared treat her this way.
“All right, let’s eat. Some dishes won’t taste good once they get cold,” Song Xinglin said, brushing past Gu Yulong and seating Gu Qing by the table.
“Your dad insisted on frying an egg—he’ll be here in a moment.”
She turned to the others:
“Come on, have a seat. Don’t be shy—make yourselves at home.”
“You sit too,” Gu Qing said, and Song Xinglin’s smile nearly reached her ears.
Her daughter cared about her! What a miracle!
