- Chapter 115 EXTRA 15 - Dinosaur World
Although their trip to the zombie world had been fun, the oppressive atmosphere there was a bit much. Qi Siyu decided that their next destination should be somewhere a little more cheerful.
“How about the Dinosaur World?” the system suggested enthusiastically. “The environment there is wonderful, and the locals are simple and honest.”
“Alright, I’ll trust you this time.” Qi Siyu came prepared—besides, dinosaurs didn’t scare her the way zombies did.
The moment she and Gu Qing arrived, they found themselves standing on a meadow outside a forest.
The grass was strange—oversized, reaching all the way to Gu Qing’s waist.
Not far away, towering trees loomed, easily seventy or eighty meters tall, with trunks so thick it would take dozens of people to wrap their arms around.
“Are you the guests who traveled here to take wedding photos?”
The voice came alongside a heavy thud-thud-thud. A giant—easily over four meters tall—walked toward them.
Qi Siyu tugged Gu Qing back and craned her neck to look up. “Yeah, that’s us. Is everything here… this big?”
With a series of bone-cracking sounds, the giant shrank down proportionally until she was their size.
“We dinosaur folk can change our size, but our default is… well, what you just saw.” Long Ya said with a cheerful smile.
“But I thought some dinosaurs were small,” Qi Siyu scratched her head. “Oh, right—dinosaurs from my history books didn’t turn into people.”
“Hahahahaha! You’re so cute. Come on, let me take you to my place first.” With that, Long Ya transformed into a triceratops. “Hop on my back.”
Even crouched down, the triceratops’ back was still three meters off the ground—not something Qi Siyu could climb.
The system seized the chance to bargain. “Promise not to pinch me anymore, and I’ll get you up there.”
It fluttered its little wings in front of them, preening smugly—only to be swiftly subdued by Gu Qing and forced to deliver them up.
Long Ya carried them deep into the forest, to her treehouse—built right into the hollow of a massive trunk.
The tree’s diameter was about fifteen meters, its height six meters per floor, and it had three stories in total.
Qi Siyu had never seen a treehouse before, let alone one this enormous. She ran around exploring before finally remembering they had work to do.
In Dinosaur World, clothing options were limited—mostly animal-skin skirts and grass skirts. Tops were simple, made from large leaves or shell coverings.
Still, there were endless variations in the colors and patterns of the skins, and in the shapes of the leaves and shells.
It took Qi Siyu and Gu Qing more than half a day to mix and match, eventually settling on five outfits.
“You two are so beautiful, you look good in anything,” Long Ya said, compliment after compliment, until Qi Siyu started feeling guilty.
So this was what “simple and honest” meant.
That evening, Long Ya served them local specialties.
There were fruits larger than a human face, with white, coconut-like flesh—chewier, sweet and tangy, and refreshingly crisp.
There was meat that was bluish-purple and frankly unappetizing to look at, yet surprisingly fresh and sweet—easily rivaling the finest seafood Qi Siyu had ever eaten.
And there was a pot of multi-colored mushroom soup, so bright it made Qi Siyu’s scalp tingle.
Gu Qing sipped the soup, savoring the taste, and quickly finished an entire bowl. “It’s delicious.”
“I can’t even bring myself to try it.” Qi Siyu had read too many science articles—brightly colored mushrooms are poisonous was practically engraved in her bones.
“Hahaha, this is another world,” Long Ya said. “With the system here, there’s nothing to worry about.”
Qi Siyu was still hesitating when Gu Qing leaned over, pressing her lips to hers, feeding her the rich, savory mushroom broth along with the slide of her tongue. The taste—and sensation—almost made Qi Siyu’s soul float away.
She was still dazed when she noticed Long Ya smiling at them, and quickly poked Gu Qing’s waist in protest. “There’s someone here.”
Stretching, Long Ya said, “I’m going to catch up with some friends about tomorrow’s plans. You two make yourselves at home. Feel free to explore everything except the top-floor bedroom—touch whatever you like.”
And then she was gone.
Qi Siyu puffed her cheeks and glared at Gu Qing, who continued calmly sipping her soup.
“There’s someone here, don’t do that,” Qi Siyu switched tactics, opting for a soft, coquettish plea.
“Mm. Got it,” Gu Qing replied pleasantly. But whether she’d actually refrain next time… well.
After dinner, the two sat together on the third-floor observatory, watching the stars.
Maybe it was their imagination, but the stars here seemed bigger than in their world.
With the night breeze on their faces and the sounds of insects and birds in the air, they leaned into each other, feeling warm and content.
…Until the peace was broken by biting insects, whose stings were both itchy and painful. Red welts appeared on Qi Siyu’s arms, face, and neck.
They quickly retreated indoors.
Oddly enough, despite the open windows, no bugs came inside—probably because of Long Ya’s lingering scent.
Annoyed, Qi Siyu stood just inside the doorway, yelling at the bugs.
The bugs didn’t understand, but they seemed to sense her hostility and buzzed even louder.
When she’d worn herself out, she sat down and gulped fruit juice. “Good thing you didn’t get bitten—it’s awful.”
She resisted the urge to scratch. They still had photos to take, and a scarred face wouldn’t do. “Long Ya probably has medicine, right?”
Gu Qing rubbed the swollen welts, but it didn’t help. “Where’s the system?”
The system had gone off with Long Ya to avoid interrupting their “private time.”
“Use your fingernail to make a cross—it’s too itchy.” Qi Siyu tilted her head.
“Alright.” Gu Qing pressed tiny cross-shaped marks into Qi Siyu’s neck.
It helped for a moment, but the itch soon returned.
Luckily Long Ya came back. She laughed at the sight. “I almost forgot—the bugs here are pretty venomous. But some herbal paste will fix it right up. Come, I’ll take you to gather some.”
“Okay.” Gu Qing glanced at the fidgeting Qi Siyu and caught her hand. “Hold on a bit.”
Qi Siyu let out a pitiful hum.
The three of them set out, Long Ya enlarging herself to clear the way. “These bugs really are bullies—they didn’t bite Miss Gu at all. I can tell exactly who’s in charge in this household, hahaha!”
Qi Siyu muttered under her breath, “Well, technically, I’m the top.”
“She just loves me so much she lets me have my way,” Gu Qing said blandly.
“…That’s another way of looking at it,” Long Ya said, amused.
Qi Siyu was so touched her itching nearly vanished. Gu Qing really does love me…
Before long, they reached a patch of grass with glowing tips.
“This is lantern grass,” Long Ya explained. “Chew it to mix with saliva, then apply it to the bites—they’ll stop itching immediately and the swelling will be gone in no time.”
Qi Siyu licked her lips. “Let’s pick some and go back to apply it.”
They gathered a handful each.
Long Ya also picked a low-growing herb whose juice repelled insects—though it smelled awful.
“You’ll be staying here, and everything is replaced fresh for each guest, so it’s very clean,” Long Ya added in her best service-industry tone.
“Thanks.”
After seeing Long Ya off, Qi Siyu shut the door. “Quick, hurry—it’s so itchy.”
Gu Qing, ever methodical, was already brushing her teeth.
Qi Siyu covered her face. Why had she instinctively assumed Gu Qing would be the one to apply the medicine?
She joined her to brush her teeth.
Afterward, Gu Qing put some lantern grass in her mouth, biting down until it burst, flooding her mouth with bitter-sour juice.
She stopped Qi Siyu from trying it herself. “It’s bitter. I’ll do it.”
Chewing thoroughly, she pressed her tongue to each of Qi Siyu’s red welts, spreading the mixture. The bitter scent filled Qi Siyu’s nose.
Soon, the itch was gone.
…And replaced with a very different kind of heat.
Qi Siyu pulled her into a kiss, feeding her the sweetness of lemon candy to balance the bitterness.
The night was long and busy, and the morning came late.
Long Ya and the system played rock-paper-scissors; the unlucky system had to wake them.
Still half-asleep, Qi Siyu grabbed and mussed the system before remembering to apologize to Long Ya for oversleeping.
Long Ya laughed. “Lantern grass has a mild aphrodisiac effect. Perfectly normal.”
Qi Siyu blushed furiously.
But there was no time for embarrassment. The highlight of taking wedding photos in Dinosaur World was posing on dinosaurs!
Sitting, standing, hugging, riding—ordinary poses felt entirely different atop these creatures.
They also took shots against the oversized landscapes.
A pterosaur even flew them to treetops and cliff edges to pick flowers.
They crashed a local wedding too—Long Ya’s cousin was getting married.
At the feast, every dish was red, turning everyone’s lips crimson and delicious-looking.
Qi Siyu couldn’t resist stealing a quick kiss from Gu Qing’s red lips.
Back home, while developing the photos, Qi Siyu realized that ever since they got together, they’d just been… living together. They’d never had an official proposal or wedding.
Her home country had legalized same-sex marriage the year before.
The more she thought about it, the more she felt she needed to give Gu Qing that moment of ceremony.
She called Shi Ying over for ideas—only for Shi Ying to get completely distracted by the photos.
“Where did you get such realistic dinosaur models? I want photos too!”
Qi Siyu remembered—Shi Ying had been a dinosaur fanatic as a kid.
“AI composite,” Qi Siyu said coolly.
“Then make me some.”
“…Fine.” After all the energy the system had leeched from her, what were a few more photos?
After a few days’ discussion, they decided on a simple proposal—just the two of them at home, with a table full of food. Partway through the meal, she’d take out the ring.
No big audience—just a quiet moment for them alone.
Qi Siyu figured Gu Qing would prefer that to a grand scene.
So, after finally mastering homemade chocolates, one evening over an ordinary dinner, Qi Siyu presented a box of red-wine chocolates and a ring. “I love you. Marry me.”
Gu Qing’s “Yes” was instant—and full of emotion. She proved it by keeping Qi Siyu up all night.
