- Chapter 116 EXTRA 16 - The Fantasy World
Their next destination was a Western-style fantasy magic world. Qi Siyu was… well, more than a little curious—no, she was very curious.
This time, they arrived right in the middle of a bustling commercial street. People came and went in a steady stream, and the two of them drew quite a few curious glances.
The reason was simple—their clothing looked nothing like the local attire. Qi Siyu mentally cursed herself, Too hasty. She’d been brainwashed by novels into thinking that people in fantasy worlds all wore elaborate gowns and ornate costumes.
Instead, most people here were dressed in neat short-sleeved shirts and shorts, with minimal accessories—just the occasional pair of earrings.
That mismatch was fine—no big deal. But… why was it so hot?
Fanning herself with her hand, Qi Siyu also waved some air toward Gu Qing. “Ugh, it’s scorching. Where’s our local guide?”
“She… miscalculated,” the system reported after checking with its counterpart. “Underestimated the enemy, couldn’t finish the fight in ten minutes, so she’s still stuck in the arena.”
Qi Siyu glanced at Gu Qing. “Then let’s go watch the fun at the arena.”
Gu Qing nodded. “Let’s go.”
With the system leading the way, Qi Siyu took Gu Qing’s hand, and they walked together.
Their interlaced fingers were damp with sweat, but neither showed any intention of letting go.
“I’d say it’s got to be forty or fifty degrees here—feels like a sauna.” Qi Siyu squinted up at the sky. The sunlight was so blinding she couldn’t fully open her eyes, but she still made out three round silhouettes.
“Holy crap—three suns?!” she exclaimed.
Gu Qing narrowed her eyes and glanced up. “No wonder it’s so hot.”
“Apparently, this is the ‘flame season’—the hottest time of the year,” the system said while still chatting with the other system. “Guess we picked the wrong time to come.”
Qi Siyu clicked her tongue at it. “Great timing, huh?”
System: “…”
Unbelievable! It was you two who picked the time!
It wanted to argue, but Qi Siyu had already darted off excitedly toward the arena.
After walking a stretch down the pedestrian street, the view suddenly opened into a massive plaza.
The arena stood at one corner, surrounded by a lively crowd.
Qi Siyu pulled Gu Qing to a high spot where they could see the entire stage.
Two fighters were on the platform, both clad in heavy armor with high ponytails. One wielded a massive greatsword, the other a slender, flexible sword.
Their blades clashed in a rapid rhythm, but the soft-sword wielder’s expression wasn’t looking good.
“That one with the greatsword is our local guide,” Qi Siyu said, thinking she looked very cool. If she’d been born in a magic world, maybe being a swordswoman wouldn’t be bad at all.
“Yes,” the system confirmed. “She’s talented—bound to a ‘Phoenix Overturns the Sky’ counterattack system.”
Qi Siyu immediately thought of those don’t-bully-the-young-and-poor novel tropes and nearly laughed out loud.
After another five minutes, the greatsword came down in a heavy arc. Though the soft-sword wielder tried to block, she coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed.
Gu Qing immediately turned to check Qi Siyu.
“Hahaha—no fainting this time. These sunglasses were worth bringing.” Earlier, the sun had been stabbing at her eyes, so she’d put them on to get a better look.
“Impressive,” Gu Qing said calmly. “Foresight.”
“Gu Qing, that’s a bit too much praise,” Qi Siyu replied, suddenly shy.
“Hey, ladies, I’m Laeoxi.” Having collected her winnings, the greatsword-wielding woman came over in search of her employers, only to overhear them flirting.
“Nice to meet you—wait, why are you speaking Chinese?” Qi Siyu asked.
“Because my novel was written by a Chinese author, hahahaha.” Laeoxi grinned. “You two look overheated—let’s head back to my place. We can talk once you’ve cooled down.”
Neither Qi Siyu nor Gu Qing had any objections, so they followed Laeoxi into a tavern.
They passed through the main hall and went upstairs to the third floor. At the top was a reception lounge. While Laeoxi fetched water, she gestured toward the corridor. “Make yourselves at home. There are three guest rooms here—pick whichever you like.”
She returned with two glasses of water and two dull-looking stone pendants. “Here, one each—cooling stones. Wear them and you won’t feel hot. Just borrowed, not a gift.”
“Thanks, hahahaha.” Qi Siyu rolled the stone between her fingers. It was dusty, unremarkable in texture. “This one looks nicer—Gu Qing, you take it.”
Gu Qing gave a soft “mm” and tied it around her wrist.
Seeing that, Qi Siyu decided against putting hers in her pocket and tied it to her wrist as well—pressing wrist to wrist.
The stones suddenly clicked together, forming a heart shape.
Qi Siyu burst out laughing. “A heart-shaped stone—how cute!”
Laeoxi didn’t know what was so funny, but she chuckled along. “Our continent’s pretty big. You could visit the Elves, the Dwarves, the Dragonfolk, or the Giants. You can only see the Temple from the outside, and if you go to the Demon Race’s lands… well, I can’t guarantee your safety—you might just be running for your life.”
“But you only have time for three places.”
“Elves, Dwarves, and Demons!” Qi Siyu answered without hesitation. They’d just been to a dinosaur world, so she wasn’t interested in dragons for now. The elves had beautiful landscapes, dwarves were masters of craftsmanship, and the demons… well, she just wanted to see what a Demon Lord looked like.
“All right.” Laeoxi raised a brow but didn’t question their choices. “This world is large, and the wedding attire is plentiful. You can take your time trying them on.”
She placed a spatial ring on the table, filled entirely with clothes.
The first day was spent doing nothing but changing outfits.
Laeoxi also moonlighted as a makeup artist, doing a matching look for each outfit.
In the end, Qi Siyu and Gu Qing chose three sets.
For the elves, they picked an elven wedding dress made from silk spun by the moonlight silkworm over a thousand years, with shimmering leaf patterns at the waist and a beautiful flower blooming over the heart.
The twelve-layer gradient starry tulle skirt swayed like a river of galaxies.
The crown was woven from branches of the Eternal Tree, studded with translucent green gems that glimmered in the light.
The dwarven wedding attire… was expensive but hideous—high-grade materials thrown together without any sense of beauty. But since they were there, they tried it on anyway, embracing the expensive-but-wrong aesthetic.
As for the demons, Qi Siyu and Gu Qing agreed the real demon outfits were far too revealing to pass censorship, so they chose a festive mage’s robe and a swordswoman’s attire—perfect for staging a “knight saves
the princess” scene.
That evening, they ate dinner at Laeoxi’s tavern. At night, the place was lively—mostly filled with mercenaries, seven or eight to a table, eating monster meat, drinking barley ale, and swapping stories.
After the meal, Laeoxi was called away for business, so Qi Siyu and Gu Qing ordered fruit wine and sat in a corner, listening to the mercenaries’ tales—perilous hunts for magical beasts, grudges and triumphs against rival mercenary groups, and being bullied by organized swordsmen.
From their words, a whole new world took shape, and Qi Siyu was utterly engrossed.
By the time the tavern closed, the two of them headed upstairs at an unhurried pace.
“I want to write a novel about this place. Their stories are so interesting,” Qi Siyu said, stretching.
“Okay,” Gu Qing replied.
“You’ll be my heroine,” Qi Siyu added, looping her arm around Gu Qing’s.
“Mm. Always your heroine,” Gu Qing said, her tone calm but the words pure affection.
Qi Siyu glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then planted a quick kiss on Gu Qing’s cheek—smack!—and bolted up the stairs.
Gu Qing followed at a leisurely pace, locked the bedroom door behind them, and ensured there was no escaping.
The next morning, Laeoxi took them to a teleportation array.
They were all excited going in… and all vomiting coming out—Qi Siyu, Gu Qing, and even a few kids who’d traveled with them.
No wonder there was a row of trash bins right outside the teleportation site.
After that, they rode a unicorn-drawn carriage to the elven lands.
The elves also lived in treehouses, but unlike the carved-out trunks Qi Siyu had imagined, these were built between branches, exquisitely decorated with fresh flowers—each house with a unique bloom over the door.
“That’s their bonded flower,” Laeoxi explained. “In the elven lands, never accept a flower—it means you want to sleep with them.”
The system, which had been about to touch one, quickly pulled its hand back.
“So… where can we take photos?” Qi Siyu asked, suddenly wary, gripping Gu Qing’s hand tightly as if afraid someone might steal her away.
“To my friend’s house,” Laeoxi said, producing a flower from her pocket and letting it float to the door of a nearby treehouse.
“Laeoxi! You came to see me!” An elf burst out moments later, leaping straight into Laeoxi’s arms.
Oh, a girlfriend, Qi Siyu thought, sneaking a glance at Gu Qing. Heh, my wife’s still the best.
After their reunion, the elf helped Qi Siyu and Gu Qing change into elven attire—complete with pointed ear prosthetics.
“Your eyes are beautiful,” the elf told Gu Qing suddenly. “I’d love to sleep with you once.”
“Thank you,” Gu Qing said evenly, “but I only sleep with Qi Siyu.”
“Fair enough—you humans seem big on ‘one love for life,’” the elf replied without offense, turning to kiss Laeoxi. “Good thing you’re not like that, my darling.”
Qi Siyu shot Laeoxi a glare—So you’re a player, huh? Laeoxi just shrugged. “Different customs, that’s all.”
After that, no matter how beautiful the scenery, Qi Siyu wasn’t eager to linger. They took their photos and headed for the dwarves.
The dwarves’ taste was questionable, their attitude not much better. Qi Siyu and Gu Qing snapped a few pictures and left.
“You’re moving fast,” Laeoxi remarked. “If the demon trip goes smoothly, you might have time for another location.”
“Can we decorate the tavern and take some photos there instead? I’ll buy everyone drinks,” Qi Siyu suggested. She still wanted to hear more mercenary stories.
She’d already confirmed with the system that she could use system energy to pay Laeoxi, and she had wine in her backpack to share.
“Of course. In fact, you could treat them first—maybe some will join you for protection when you head to the demon lands,” Laeoxi proposed.
And so, the plan shifted naturally. They closed the tavern for half a day to decorate, with Laeoxi putting up a sign outside inviting people to a “wedding feast.”
That night, the tavern was packed wall-to-wall, the atmosphere warm and rowdy.
Qi Siyu and Gu Qing leaned against each other, listening to stories, completely at ease.
Mercenaries who lived by the sword valued loyalty and chose friends by instinct.
Just as Laeoxi had predicted, their trip to the demon lands gained over thirty companions.
The photo session that was meant to be a dramatic “fleeing for their lives” turned into chasing demons through the land—with Qi Siyu’s laughter ringing in the sky.
