Transmigrated as the Chongxi Wife of a Critically Ill Young Lady - Chapter 35
Chapter 35
After much effort, Cen Xia finally managed to understand what Jiwanching was gesturing. A smile remained on her lips. She never expected that Dr. Yan, who appeared so aloof and indifferent, was actually a petty and devious man. Jiwanching’s behavior was even more shocking to her.
She knew she was happy, knew she was so excited she couldn’t sleep, but no matter what, she didn’t seem like the kind of person who would share her joy with anyone else, let alone someone like Yan Shuang…
The more Cen Xia thought about it, the funnier it seemed. She said, “Sister, what made you think of showing off our affection in front of Dr. Yan?”
Jiwanching pondered for a moment, then raised her hand.
—”Because there was no one else.”
Cen Xia laughed so hard her stomach hurt.
Jiwanching glared at her, gesturing for her to be quiet.
Cen Xia held back her laughter and asked, “Sister, when you said Shanqing was our cat, did Dr. Yan really tell you to stay away from small animals?”
Jiwanching pursed her lips, with a look that said, “Of course he did.”
Cen Xia couldn’t hold it in and laughed out loud again. “He must have been jealous, Sister. I can’t believe Dr. Yan, who seems so serious, is so devious!”
Jiwanching raised her hand, her movements very quick.
—”I told him he would never find a partner!”
Cen Xia asked, still laughing, “And what did Dr. Yan say?”
Jiwanching’s expression turned a little colder. She deliberately mimicked Yan Shuang. She nodded and gestured.
—”Then I won’t look for one!”
Cen Xia was almost doubled over with laughter. “Sister, you two are so funny!”
Jiwanching raised her hand.
—”Now, do you believe he’s a big liar?”
Cen Xia quickly soothed her, “I do, I do. He was getting revenge on you, so he wouldn’t let me cook delicious food for you.”
Jiwanching nodded repeatedly, looking at her with eager eyes.
Cen Xia, with a shared sense of indignation, said, “It’s okay, Sister. Xiaxia will get him back for you. He dared to bully my wife; he won’t get off easy!”
Jiwanching was happy. Her face was still and cold, but a faint smile broke through at the corners of her lips.
Cen Xia found her so cute. She leaned over and kissed her, then picked up the golden millet porridge from the bedside table and fed it to her.
Jiwanching ate while gesturing.
—”Tomorrow, we’ll have noodle soup. The day after, spicy hot pot. The day after that, big chicken legs.”
A few yellow millet grains clung to her lips from eating too fast, like a little chick pecking at food. Cen Xia used the pad of her thumb to wipe it clean, smiling as she asked, “Didn’t Sister just eat noodle soup? Why do you want it again?”
Jiwanching answered without hesitation.
—”The first thing I ate was noodle soup. Noodle soup is the most delicious!”
Cen Xia smiled. She remembered the first time she fed Jiwanching the noodle soup.
At that time, she was under Jiwanching’s cold stare and hadn’t realized it was leftovers. Only when Jiwanching looked at the food in the bowl did she realize and prepare to apologize. But Jiwanching narrowed her eyes and raised her hand, “Didn’t you say you were giving it to me?”
Cen Xia then understood that Jiwanching was afraid she would change her mind and not give it to her, so she had been staring at it the whole time.
Wanching was a very stubborn person. Some things, once she fell in love with them, she would love them for a lifetime. It was the same with a bowl of noodle soup. Because it was the first time she had tasted it, and because Cen Xia had made it for her, that taste was deeply imprinted in her heart. She loved it from the beginning to the end.
Cen Xia had a smile on her face as she reminisced. Jiwanching reached out and pushed her.
—”What are you smiling about?”
Cen Xia shook her head. “Nothing. I was just thinking that the way Sister lunged for the food was so cute!”
Jiwanching knew exactly what she was talking about. She raised her hand and gestured angrily.
—”I was staring at it for a long time, and you almost put it in your own mouth!”
Cen Xia laughed and defended herself, “I was subconsciously trying to blow on it to cool it down for you, okay?”
Jiwanching raised her hand.
—”Do I even know you?”
Cen Xia: …
They ate and reminisced about the past, the atmosphere very harmonious.
After the meal, they teased each other for a while. Jiwanching couldn’t stay awake and fell asleep. Cen Xia watched over her, her thoughts wandering.
Now, her relationship with Jiwanching had deepened, but the problem with the original owner and Jiang He still needed to be resolved.
She couldn’t call the system right now. She wasn’t sure if the original owner, Cen Xia, was dead or alive. Would she be replaced by the original owner and return to her reality after she completed her mission, or would she stay in this world forever and take her place?
Regardless of which it was, either Jiwanching or Jiang He would be devastated. Subconsciously, she would rather die herself than hurt either of them. But in reality, this was not something she could decide. She could only try her best to minimize the damage.
Try her best… How could she do that?
Should she be honest with Jiang He from the beginning? But she hadn’t yet sorted out the whole story. What if the original owner was still alive?
Or should she tell Jiwanching everything directly, tell her that she might be forced to leave in the future?
But her body was so weak. She and Yan Shuang had fought so hard to bring her back from the brink of death. They had just confessed to each other, and she was so happy. How could she turn around and tell her that her other half might be replaced one day? Would she then spend every day in fear?
No!
That was her lover, the person she cherished in her heart. She couldn’t bring herself to stab her in the heart.
So, no matter what, it was a stalemate. She didn’t know what to do…
Jiwanching woke up on her own after about ten minutes. She looked at Cen Xia, who was spacing out beside the bed, and reached out to push her.
Cen Xia’s mind was pulled back. She looked up and smiled at her. “Did you wake up so quickly, Sister? Did you dream of me?”
Jiwanching ignored her question and very forcefully raised her hand to gesture.
—”What are you thinking about again?”
Cen Xia couldn’t avoid the question. She hesitated for a moment and said, “Sister, I’ve run into a problem I can’t solve.”
Jiwanching looked at her, gesturing for her to continue.
Cen Xia, to preempt her worry, said, “Sister, don’t worry, and don’t feel stressed. I’m trying to figure it out. Xiaxia is so smart, she can definitely handle it.”
Jiwanching raised her hand, urging her on.
—”What is it?”
Cen Xia thought it over and decided to talk about Jiang He. She said, “Sister, I’m not sure how much General Manager Jiang likes that wealthy Cen Xia, but she’s obviously mistaken me for her. I want to explain to her, but I can’t find the person she likes. I don’t know how to bring it up, and I don’t know if she’ll believe me if I do.”
“She’s also been causing trouble for you and getting revenge on you. I didn’t know at first. A few days ago, I looked up her information and combined it with what I knew. That’s how I came up with this theory. But from her perspective, she’s not wrong for doing this for the person she loves. And you’re not wrong either. The ultimate source of all this is me. But I don’t know how to end this misunderstanding. It’s so difficult, Sister. What do you think I should do?”
Jiwanching listened, her lips pursed in thought. She didn’t give her an answer right away.
Cen Xia tucked her head into Jiwanching’s palm and rubbed against it, whining, “I’m so lucky to have a sister. I can talk to you about my troubles.”
Jiwanching was her wife. She was willing to show her vulnerability in front of her.
Jiwanching stroked her head. Her long eyelashes fluttered. She was trying to think of a solution.
Cen Xia sighed, “I’m not even sure if my theory is correct. When you’re a little better, Sister, let’s go with me to General Manager Jiang’s place to confirm it!”
Jiwanching nodded. Her phoenix eyes contemplated. She would find an opportunity to ask Yan Shuang later if there was any medication that could help.
Cen Xia saw right through her little plan. She lunged forward and gave her a fierce bite on her lips.
Jiwanching gasped in pain.
Cen Xia’s lychee-like eyes were wide with warning. “Don’t even think about it!” she said.
Jiwanching’s plan was exposed. She pursed her lips and lay there obediently.
Cen Xia said, “Jiwanching, you are my wife. My only family in this world. That’s why when I run into problems, I choose to tell you and work it out together. But if you do this every time, I will never tell you a single word about my troubles again!”
This person, who usually seemed so fragile, had a very strong will when it came to important matters. Jiwanching was completely subdued. She lay there with a timid look in her eyes, like a child who had made a mistake. But she was afraid Cen Xia was serious, so she raised her hand with a sincere attitude.
—”I was wrong, Xiaxia!”
Cen Xia didn’t actually intend to go through with her threat. She was just using it to scare her and make her get rid of her bad habit of being too impatient. She ignored Jiwanching.
Jiwanching panicked and reached out to tug on her skirt.
Cen Xia still couldn’t be cruel. After only a few seconds of holding her ground, she rolled her eyes and subconsciously placed her hand on Jiwanching’s.
Jiwanching was happy to have a response. She used her thumb to gently stroke Cen Xia’s palm, trying to please and curry favor with this little gesture.
Cen Xia looked into her eyes and said, “Call my name, ‘Xiaxia,’ and say ‘I was wrong,’ and I’ll forgive you!”
Jiwanching’s throat moved. It moved again. After several seconds of preparing, she slightly parted her lips. She was too nervous to make a sound. She tried several times without success.
She shook her head and gestured in the air with her hand.
—”Xiaxia, I’m sorry, Sister was wrong. Please forgive me, Xiaxia!”
Cen Xia felt a little sad inside, but this was something that couldn’t be rushed. She didn’t push her anymore. She leaned down and put her face near Jiwanching’s lips. “Where’s your attitude of admitting your mistake?”
Jiwanching’s body leaned forward. A soft kiss landed on Cen Xia’s cheek.
Cen Xia tilted her head to look at her. “That’s it?”
Jiwanching’s long eyelashes fluttered. She suddenly mustered her strength, propped herself up, and kissed her on the lips.
Cen Xia smiled. “That’s more like it. Don’t let it happen again!”
Jiwanching nodded repeatedly.
The small misunderstanding was resolved. Jiwanching was still not at ease. She acted uncharacteristically spoiled in front of Cen Xia. She patted the bed sheets.
—”Xiaxia.”
Cen Xia raised an eyebrow. “What is it, Sister?”
—”Come up here.”
Cen Xia shook her head. “I’m not coming up. It’s not time for a nap yet, and besides, the IV isn’t finished. I have to watch it for you.”
Jiwanching reached out to grab her.
Cen Xia dodged her.
Jiwanching raised her hand.
—”I don’t feel well.”
Cen Xia moved further away, looking at her. “Where do you not feel well, Sister?”
Jiwanching patted her chest.
Cen Xia said, “Your chest hurts, Sister? I’ll call Dr. Yan to come check on you!”
Jiwanching’s phoenix eyes glared at her.
Cen Xia smiled.
She raised her hand.
—”I’m going to die of discomfort. Aren’t you going to do anything?”
Cen Xia shook her head. “No!”
Jiwanching tilted her head back, rolled her eyes, and even stuck her tongue out, letting it hang from the right corner of her mouth. She raised her hand again.
—”Sister is dead.”
Cen Xia giggled. She lunged forward and kissed her, saying while she did, “Sister, how can you be so cute!”
She kissed her forehead, cheek, eyes, nose, earlobes, and neck—everywhere within the allowed range. Jiwanching’s body was soft. She used her hand without the IV to clutch Cen Xia’s clothes tightly. Her hoarse throat, for the first time, let out a low moan…
