Transmigrated as the Chongxi Wife of a Critically Ill Young Lady - Chapter 34
Chapter 34
After receiving Cen Xia’s confession, Jiwanching’s entire being, like a withered branch, suddenly blossomed with life, becoming vibrant and green.
She was ecstatic. Her lightless phoenix eyes narrowed in Cen Xia’s direction, and a smile never left her lips.
Cen Xia was a little helpless. She threatened her playfully, “Jiwanching, if you don’t sleep, I’ll blindfold you and throw you in the cat bed for Shanqing to lick!”
Dr. Yan said her temporary blindness was due to the physical pain she endured during the forceful needle treatment and that a good night’s sleep would restore it quickly. She wanted Jiwanching to be able to see again tomorrow.
Jiwanching raised her hand.
—”I don’t want Shanqing, I want Xiaxia!”
After making the gesture, a faint blush appeared on her pale cheeks. She shyly pursed her lips.
Cen Xia couldn’t resist. She leaned down and nibbled on her cheek, saying, “Last IV bottle. You have to sleep after it’s done!”
Jiwanching’s fingertips touched the spot where she was bitten. Her smile was so sweet. She shook her head.
—”I won’t!”
Cen Xia was also happy, carried away by her mood. She said, “You get what you want, don’t you?”
Jiwanching nodded.
Cen Xia was “angry.” She raised Jiwanching’s head and cupped it in her palm, forcefully kissing her soft lips.
Jiwanching’s long eyelashes fluttered. Cen Xia’s kiss deepened, and she, like a defeated warrior, automatically surrendered after a brief resistance, following her lead.
When the kiss ended, the liquid in the IV bag was still dripping into her body. Jiwanching was so exhausted she could only lie on the bed, panting. Her eyelids were too heavy to lift.
Cen Xia said, “Let’s see if you’ll sleep. If not, I’ll just keep kissing you!”
Jiwanching heard this and forced her eyes open, smiling slyly.
Cen Xia leaned down and kissed her again.
Jiwanching had no strength to respond, only quietly enjoying the feeling of being taken. She loved the feeling of being plundered by her.
Cen Xia’s kisses were shorter than the last time. When she finished, she asked her in the same tone, “Sleeping now?”
Jiwanching was out of breath. Her eyelids felt heavy, but she stubbornly shook her head. After recovering a bit, she opened her eyes again.
Cen Xia kissed her, each time a little more lightly, until she was only lightly touching her lips. But every time she pulled away, Jiwanching forced her eyes open, her fan-like eyelashes fluttering above those lightless eyes…
After they had been teasing each other for a while, Cen Xia finally gave up. She kicked off her shoes, squeezed onto the bed, and held her in her arms, forcing her to sleep.
Jiwanching was too happy to sleep. Her hand, the one without the IV, kept moving restlessly on Cen Xia’s body.
Cen Xia reached out and held it. Jiwanching then wrote in her palm.
—”Xiaxia is mine. I’m so happy.”
Cen Xia felt her movements, and her heart was a mix of sweet and sour. She wished she had confessed to her sooner. It would have saved them both from all the anxiety of the past few days.
The clock on the wall ticked by. Cen Xia held her.
Jiwanching sniffed her scent. After a long time, she finally succumbed to her body’s fatigue and fell into a light sleep.
Cen Xia watched her. Her breathing was steady, and the smile on her lips hadn’t completely faded.
When the large bag of IV fluid was finished, she slowly eased her arm out from under her, getting ready to call Yan Shuang to remove the needle.
Jiwanching woke up for a moment. In the darkness, she sensed that the familiar person was still in the room, so she closed her eyes and continued to sleep.
After Yan Shuang removed the needle, he took her pulse, glanced at Cen Xia, and left without a word.
Cen Xia was afraid that after the long IV drip, she might need to use the restroom. She leaned over the bed and brushed her hair away from her forehead. “Sister, do you need to go to the restroom?”
Jiwanching shook her head. Dazed, she patted the small space on the side of the bed, gesturing for Cen Xia to come and sleep.
Cen Xia’s voice was very gentle. “Sister, what if we go to the restroom now and then you don’t have to get up again?”
Jiwanching frowned irritably. She reached out and tugged on Cen Xia’s collar.
Cen Xia got back into bed and held her in her arms. She nudged her forehead with her lips and said in a soft tone, “Then, Sister, if you need to go, just tell me!”
Jiwanching closed her eyes and made a shushing motion with her finger on her lips. She buried her head in Cen Xia’s chest and fell soundly asleep.
She was so tired. It had been a long time since she had a good night’s sleep.
The next day, when she woke up, Cen Xia was still sleeping, holding her tightly in her arms.
Jiwanching looked up. Her vision was no longer a black abyss, but a clear view of Cen Xia’s delicate and beautiful features.
Cen Xia’s eyelashes were thick and long. As she slept, they looked like tiny black brushes gently fluttering. A pair of innocent, clear, and bright eyes were resting beneath those long lashes.
Jiwanching, at such a close distance, counted her distinct eyelashes. She looked at her silhouette and traced her features from a distance.
This person was hers, and would be forever. She wanted to seal her in her heart, never to let her out…
Cen Xia was woken by her hand movements. She opened her eyes.
Jiwanching’s hand, hovering above her face, hadn’t had time to pull back. She pursed her lips, her black, grape-like eyes fixed on her.
Cen Xia’s mind processed this for a few seconds. She gasped, “Sister, you can see things now?”
Jiwanching put a finger to her lips, making a shushing gesture again.
Cen Xia ignored her. “And your sense of taste? Has it come back?”
Jiwanching didn’t answer. She shifted her body up a little and used all her strength to lunge forward. She kissed Cen Xia’s lips, and her tongue began to slide in. But her arms were weak. After only a half-hearted attempt, she was too tired and collapsed on top of her.
Cen Xia reached out, held her in her arms, and changed to a more comfortable position.
After she had rested for a bit, Jiwanching looked into her eyes and gently raised her hand.
—”Sweet, like honey.”
Cen Xia smiled, thinking to herself that Dr. Yan hadn’t lied to her.
She was very happy that Jiwanching had recovered. At this moment, her mind wasn’t on intimacy. She wanted to call him in as soon as possible to check on her again and confirm that her sight and taste had fully returned, and what precautions she needed to take.
Jiwanching didn’t get a response and felt a bit annoyed. She hung onto Cen Xia’s neck like a little accessory, refusing to let go.
Cen Xia threatened, “If you don’t behave, I’m going to bully you, Jiwanching.”
Jiwanching pursed her lips. A slight blush appeared on her porcelain-white skin. She waited shyly, anticipating her next move.
Cen Xia didn’t “bully” her. She just gently wiped her lips.
Jiwanching’s expectations were dashed. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly. She was clearly unhappy.
Cen Xia took in all her little moods. She secretly laughed to herself. But her body was still too weak to be put through any more stress. She wanted to wait until she was a little better. A lifetime was very long. They had plenty of time.
Jiwanching’s stomach rumbled.
Cen Xia widened her eyes, intentionally acting very surprised. “What was that sound, Sister?”
Jiwanching subconsciously reached out and patted her stomach. It rumbled again.
Cen Xia said, “Oh no, what if Sister is pregnant with my baby?”
Jiwanching pursed her lips, and her face blushed again. She was easily shy.
Cen Xia played with her for a while. When Yan Shuang came up to check on her, she went to the kitchen to make something to eat.
A visible happiness was plastered on Jiwanching’s face. After Yan Shuang finished her needle treatment, she even initiated a sign for his name.
Dr. Yan raised his gaze, looking at her seriously, thinking she had something very important to tell him.
Jiwanching raised her hand.
—”Xiaxia confessed to me.”
Dr. Yan: …
He then realized she might not be showing off to him. His expression immediately became serious. He stood straight across from Jiwanching, meeting her gaze directly.
“Congratulations, Madam, but your body is not suitable for any further treatment right now.”
Jiwanching raised her hand again.
—”It’s okay. Xiaxia said I shouldn’t put so much pressure on myself. If I get better, she’ll just lie flat and hold onto my leg and be a rich madam. If I don’t get better, she’ll stay by my side and take care of me. I have someone to take care of me, Yan Shuang.”
Yan Shuang was caught off guard by the public display of affection. He let out a sigh of relief, “Mmm,” and began to pack his medical bag, ready to leave.
Shanqing jumped onto the bed and rubbed back and forth against Jiwanching. Dr. Yan was still worried, so he lingered for a moment.
Jiwanching stroked Shanqing’s head and gestured to Yan Shuang.
—”This is our cat. Its name is Shanqing!”
Dr. Yan “hmm’d” again and said, “Madam, in your current state, it’s best to stay away from small animals!”
Jiwanching: …
She looked up at this stoic man beside her. After a few seconds of thought, she raised her hand.
—”You’ll never find a partner!”
Yan Shuang nodded and said, “Then I won’t look for one!”
In all the years he had known her, he had never seen such a cute and dark-humored side of the Ji family’s eldest daughter.
A little later, Cen Xia came in. She had made millet pumpkin porridge. It was served in a porcelain bowl, a beautiful golden color.
Yan Shuang glanced at it and said out of the blue, “Ms. Cen, given the Madam’s current physical condition, it’s best to give her more bland food from now on. You shouldn’t add any flavorings. Something like plain white rice porridge would be good!”
Jiwanching: !!!
Cen Xia looked at the food tray in her hands. Was millet pumpkin porridge considered “heavy-flavored”?
She was very confused, but Dr. Yan was so amazing. If he said white rice porridge was healthy, then it must be healthy. In the end, she nodded like a bobblehead and said, “Got it, Dr. Yan. Thank you for being so thoughtful.”
Jiwanching: …
After giving his instructions, Dr. Yan picked up his medical bag and walked out with a poker face.
Cen Xia placed the bowl of porridge on the bedside table and carefully helped Jiwanching lean against the headboard, muttering to herself, “My sister can only have white rice porridge from now on, but it’s okay. Dr. Yan is so amazing. We’ll listen to him, and in a few days, Sister’s body will recover. By then, we’ll be able to eat big chicken legs!”
Jiwanching’s phoenix eyes narrowed, and her gaze, like a knife, landed on Cen Xia.
Cen Xia was busy arranging the pillows to make sure she was sitting up properly and wouldn’t fall. Because of this, she didn’t notice her gaze.
Jiwanching reached out and pushed her.
Cen Xia turned her head to look at her. “What’s wrong, Sister?”
Jiwanching glared at her.
Cen Xia was completely baffled. She tried to recall everything she had done, but she couldn’t figure out what she had done to offend her. So, she looked to Jiwanching’s sharp gaze for help once more.
Jiwanching raised her hand and quickly made a gesture in the air.
—”How amazing is Dr. Yan? You seem to really admire him?”
Cen Xia: Huh?
She thought about it seriously. Could it be that Sister was… jealous?
