Transmigrated As The Cannon Fodder Ex-Wife Of A Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 25.1
“I would,” Zhao Zhiyi said, lowering his lashes. “Lift your shirt so I can check, did your previous wounds reopen?”
“They’ve already scarred over. They won’t.” Su Jiyu obediently lifted his shirt. He was only wearing a hospital gown under his coat. He didn’t seem to feel the cold of winter, but…
“Holy cow,” Zhao Zhiyi was shocked. “You actually have six-pack abs?!”
Su Jiyu: “Is something wrong?”
Zhao Zhiyi: “…”
Zhao Zhiyi shed tears of envy. Su Jiyu, who looked so thin and frail, actually had a six pack, while he, the former school bully, was now just a “plain chicken” with only one solid block of an abdominal muscle.
“Is this the physiological gap between Alphas and Omegas?”
The manager walked by and lifted his own shirt: “Not necessarily. Look at me, I’m an Alpha and I’ve got a spare tire.”
Zhao Zhiyi: “That’s an eyesore! Put your shirt down.”
“You’re body shaming now? You really are a senior member of the looks only club,” the manager grumbled as he walked away.
Zhao Zhiyi packed up the tools and said, “Alright, don’t get the wounds wet.”
Su Jiyu nodded and then asked, “Why are you injured?”
“Hmm? This?” Zhao Zhiyi touched the scarred wound on his temple. “Just a minor accident. It’s nothing.”
Su Jiyu: “It wasn’t Meng Ze, was it? He’s always been violent.”
“I agree with the second half of that sentence, but it wasn’t Meng Ze,” Zhao Zhiyi said. “I’ll take you back to the hospital now. Let’s go.”
“No.” Su Jiyu turned his face away. “My mother found me. The hospital is full of her people. I’m not going back.”
Zhao Zhiyi’s expression soured. No wonder Su Jiyu was so adamant about not going to the hospital before; as soon as he went, He Linrong found him.
“She’s forcing me to go back for an arranged marriage,” Su Jiyu said gloomily, leaning on the table. “I don’t want to marry that Omega.”
In Su Jiyu’s own gender identity, he was an “Omega.” Now He Linrong was forcing him to marry another Omega, it was no different from asking a straight man to marry a man.
“Then what do you plan to do?” Zhao Zhiyi thought for a moment. “How about you go find Meng Ze…”
“Find Meng Ze?” Su Jiyu said. “He’s on a business trip recently, out of the country. Didn’t you know?”
Zhao Zhiyi really didn’t know. Well, Su Jiyu and Meng Ze were the “couple” naturally, they’d know each other’s business best.
“I’ll just sleep here for a bit,” Su Jiyu said listlessly. “I’m very tired.”
Zhao Zhiyi thought getting beaten that badly would indeed be exhausting, but then he heard Su Jiyu say: “I don’t have any money on me for a taxi. I walked here from the hospital.”
Now Zhao Zhiyi was really about to explode. The hospital was a half-hour drive away, how long did Su Jiyu have to walk? And he was already injured!
“You can’t sleep here.” Seeing his pitiable look, Zhao Zhiyi couldn’t bring himself to scold him. “Besides, it’s very cold at night.”
“It’s fine.” Su Jiyu buried his face in his arms, refusing to let Zhao Zhiyi see him. “I’ll sleep here.”
Five minutes later.
Zhao Zhiyi scanned a shared electric bike. “Button up your coat tight. The wind is strong, don’t catch a cold.”
“Okay,” Su Jiyu nodded.
Zhao Zhiyi got on. “Hop on.”
Su Jiyu sat behind him. “I’ve never ridden one of these before.”
“Now you’ve seen the world,” Zhao Zhiyi twisted the handle. “I get to work every day for two dollars and fifty cents, convenient, fast, and cheap.”
Su Jiyu couldn’t help but smile. “Hmm… you really know how to manage a household.”
“Of course.” Zhao Zhiyi ferried Su Jiyu through the cold winter night. Buildings and city lights lined the road; people of all sorts passed by in a constant stream of traffic.
Su Jiyu hugged Zhao Zhiyi’s waist and leaned his cheek against his back. “I’m a bit cold, do you mind?”
Zhao Zhiyi paused and stopped the bike.
“…Then I won’t hold you. Sorry.” Su Jiyu withdrew his hands.
Zhao Zhiyi took off the fuzzy hat from his head and pulled it over Su Jiyu’s head, then pulled up his own jacket hood. He started the bike again. “If you’re cold, just hold on. It’s not like I’ll lose a limb.”
Su Jiyu caught a faint scent of orange blossom that was quickly scattered by the wind. He hugged Zhao Zhiyi again, pressing against his back. In this cold winter where leaves were falling and grass was withering, he found an indescribable warmth.
Zhao Zhiyi really was a strange person.
Zhao Zhiyi brought Su Jiyu home again. He prepared the guest room and made dinner. Su Jiyu felt very apologetic and insisted on washing the dishes, but after breaking two bowls, he stood at the kitchen door like he was in “time out,” watching Zhao Zhiyi efficiently clean up.
Su Jiyu’s expression darkened slightly. He hadn’t realized he was this stupid, he couldn’t even wash a dish.
“What are you thinking about?” Zhao Zhiyi brought out a plate of strawberries and popped one into Su Jiyu’s mouth. “I’m going to watch TV. Want to join?”
“Okay.”
Zhao Zhiyi was watching a mindless variety show. Clearly, even he found it boring, as he fell asleep on the sofa within half an hour.
Su Jiyu looked at him intently, then suddenly reached out and gently touched the small mole on the tip of his nose. Zhao Zhiyi felt uncomfortable and swatted his hand away. Su Jiyu caught his hand, lowered his eyes, and gave a fleeting kiss to the wound on his knuckle, murmuring, “Fighting with Meng Ze but not telling me…”
He squeezed Zhao Zhiyi’s finger and smiled again. “But you saved me again today. I forgive you.”
Su Jiyu carried him to the master bedroom, tucked him in, and sat by the bed for a long time before returning to his own room.
The next morning, Zhao Zhiyi was awakened by the doorbell. He groggily opened the door and instantly snapped awake when he saw who it was.
He Linrong.
During their last brief encounter, He Linrong had been wearing loungewear at home. Today, she was dressed to the nines, exuding an intimidating aura, followed by two burly bodyguards. It was quite frightening.
“Zhao Zhiyi.” He Linrong took off her sunglasses and looked him up and down critically. “You do have some looks, but I’m quite surprised that someone like you could wrap Su Jiyu around your finger.”
Zhao Zhiyi tried to close the door with a blank expression, but the two bodyguards held it open firmly.
“I’ll call the police if you keep this up,” Zhao Zhiyi said coldly. “Breaking and entering is illegal.”
“I haven’t entered, so it’s not breaking and entering,” He Linrong said, crossing her arms. “Where are you hiding Su Jiyu? I don’t have the patience to waste on you. Hand him over. The girl’s side waited for him all day yesterday, but he ran away. I have no way to explain it to them.”
Zhao Zhiyi said, “He doesn’t want to get married.”
“I didn’t want to get married either,” He Linrong raised an eyebrow. “I was the most capable of my father’s children, but that old man insisted on passing the family business to an Alpha, looking down on Omegas. I had no choice but to marry that useless Su Chengfeng and support the Su family until now… Su Jiyu should taste the bitterness I’ve endured. Otherwise, raising him until now would be too much of a loss.”
Zhao Zhiyi: “…You had a child just so he could suffer the same hardships as you?”
He Linrong said calmly, “Life is about gains and losses. It’s greedy to always want the best, isn’t it? Anyway, I don’t have time to chat. Where is Su Jiyu?”
“I don’t know,” Zhao Zhiyi said flatly. “You’re at the wrong place. Let go, I’m going back to sleep.”
He Linrong’s face turned icy. She glared at Zhao Zhiyi. “You really don’t know your place. You think you can speak to me like this just because you married into the Meng family? You’re nothing more than a tool to produce an heir for them. Since no one taught you manners, fine. I’ll teach you myself today.”
She finished speaking and ordered the two bodyguards to seize Zhao Zhiyi, then raised her hand to slap his face!
