- Too Late to Regret, She’s Now With the Big Boss
- Chapter 31 - Rumors Flying Everywhere
“Watch your mouth. Cut the crap! what’s got you so worked up? Stay calm. Don’t scare my wife.”
Lu Jingchen’s voice carried a warning as he spoke to Bai Lang, his fingers, which had been toying with Ye Qianqian’s, trembling slightly.
“Boss, Madam, you might not believe this, but Young Master Ye and Ye Qingyan are involved in a genetic taboo-”
Bai Lang, his face a picture of disbelief, turned around and handed the laptop to Lu Jingchen. “Boss, see for yourself.”
Ding Fan, noticing how Bai Lang, usually unflappable, had raised his voice in rare alarm, gasped, “Don’t tell me Ye Qingyan is President Ye’s daughter?”
“Less curiosity, more focus on driving. Pay attention to safety. If you freak out while driving, we’ll crash, got it?”
After scolding Ding Fan, Bai Lang immediately called his subordinates. “Bring Xie Yun to the basement of Lanjing Garden right now. Make sure she doesn’t die.”
Ye Qianqian thought to herself: The people around the Living King of Hell are sharp, no wonder the Lu Group dominates Rongcheng!
Seeing Lu Jingchen glaring at the computer as if he wanted to murder someone, she wondered: Had Bai Lang already uncovered that Xie Yun had someone tampered with her fate?
That couldn’t be, right?
Then again, maybe it was possible. Otherwise, why would the Living King of Hell be so furious?
She considered herself smart, but most of what she knew came from those floating bullet comments.
Comparing herself to others was downright depressing.
From the moment she became aware, she knew she was different from ordinary people. But she had always assumed she was just born unlucky, never suspecting it was orchestrated.
In the Ye family, framed by Ye Qingyan and treated unfairly by her own relatives, she had once considered leaving and making her own way.
After all, she had lived independently since she was seven. But if she stayed away from home for more than ten days, misfortune would strike relentlessly.
Tripping over nothing, nearly losing a front tooth, choking on water until she couldn’t breathe, these things happened all the time.
While studying, she gradually figured out how to survive. She realized that staying in wealthy households not only minimized her bad luck but also helped her learn faster than usual.
So, she endured the Ye family’s mistreatment without leaving. To avoid being completely passive, she took charge of preparing soups for them.
Daily doses of bird’s nest and ginseng soup, combined with a shift in mindset, transformed her. By sixteen, she no longer looked as gaunt as she had in the countryside.
Instead, she radiated a vibrant glow from within. At eighteen, she got into a prestigious university, stunning even the Ye family members who despised her.
But this only fueled Ye Qingyan’s jealousy, leading to even more vicious schemes and outright false accusations.
Furious, she openly went after Song Yuntao. To her surprise, the more she pursued him, the less misfortune struck her. With such a stroke of luck, why would she ever let go?
Emboldened by the benefits, she became addicted to chasing him. Even if her reputation suffered, she ate well, dressed comfortably, what more could she ask for?
After Song Yuntao’s car accident, she gritted her teeth and took care of him, sharing a room with him like a live-in nurse.
Only then could she use the pretense of being devoted to his recovery to continue studying for her medical doctorate.
Because she had to care for Song Yuntao, she couldn’t work at a hospital after graduation.
Instead, she registered under a pseudonym for private online consultations and unexpectedly gained some fame.
With beauty and wealth, she planned to marry Song Yuntao and ride his luck to an easy life.
If not for the bullet comments spoiling the truth, she would never have let go, even if it killed her.
“Wife, it’s all my fault. You’ve suffered so much because of me.” Lu Jingchen’s voice was thick with guilt as he set the laptop aside and pulled her onto his lap.
Ye Qianqian, snapped out of her memories: “……”
“Darling, if I hadn’t been so stubborn and investigated earlier, you wouldn’t have suffered so much.”
Ye Qianqian was about to say that she hadn’t suffered much, that she’d been doing fine, and that he shouldn’t blame himself.
[LOL, the female antagonist thinks Bai Lang found out about Xie Yun swapping her fate. Who would’ve thought of such a mystical thing!]
[Exactly! There’s no scientific basis for it. How could someone as tech-savvy as the big boss even consider investigating that?]
[The love-struck boss just feels sorry for his wife being bullied by the Ye family. He’s shamelessly doting on the female antagonist, sincerely apologizing.]
[I wish the big boss and the female antagonist knew about the fate swap so they could confront Xie Yun and switch it back. I ship them growing old together in sweetness.]
[The big boss is so protective of the female antagonist. If she plays the victim a little, he’d definitely interrogate the female lead’s mom himself and beat the truth out of her.]
[Pfft! The big boss is too smart and high-ranking to waste time interrogating trash like Xie Yun. He’d just kill her outright.]
[I bet Bai Lang and Ding Fan will secretly beat Xie Yun up, stuff her in a sack, and throw her into the sea for fish food.]
Ye Qianqian silently cursed at the barrage of comments. If they just threw her to the fish, how would she ever get her fate back?!
She never expected the “Living King of Hell” to be so fragile, just glancing at the investigation results had him heartbroken. She’d endured far worse insults before without batting an eye.
She took in the fury radiating from Lu Jingchen and the other two. They were genuinely enraged!
Ye Qianqian gathered her emotions, and tears instantly welled up on her lashes. “Husband, don’t blame yourself. I had food and clothes, I wasn’t wronged. It’s just…”
“Just what? Say it straight, darling. As Lu Jingchen’s wife, you can speak and act however you please.”
Lu Jingchen’s heart ached at the sight of his wife’s tear-streaked face. “Darling, let’s go home and talk over dinner.”
He carried her out of the car and headed inside, then turned to coldly order, “Beat her up first. Don’t kill her. We’ll interrogate her after we eat.”
“Got it,” Bai Lang replied swiftly.
“Even if the boss hadn’t said so, I was planning to beat her half to death, sack her, and feed her to the fish,” Ding Fan muttered, voice thick with anger.
Bai Lang exchanged a glance with him. They both pitied Ye Qianqian, such a poor little thing, slandered wherever she went. If they hadn’t been there today, who knows what would’ve happened to her!
While Ye Qianqian was being pampered by Lu Jingchen and pitied by Bai Lang and Ding Fan…
…
Outside, vicious rumors about her were spreading like wildfire, shocking everyone.
“Did you hear what happened at the Ye family’s homecoming banquet today?”
“What happened?”
“The eldest son and daughter were drugged by the second daughter, almost led to a huge scandal. And tons of guests saw it!”
“Oh my god! Where’d you hear this? Any pics or videos?”
“Nope. That’s not something we’d get to see for free! I only heard about it. The main point is how wicked and cruel the second daughter is. Forget about seeing pics.”
Initially, clear videos had circulated online, but they were swiftly deleted by Ye Qingyan’s simp, Lu Zhenting, and the eldest Ye brother.
They then fueled the flames, and within the span of a single meal…
The entire city of Rongcheng knew: “The Ye family’s second daughter maliciously framed her sister and brother, trying to ruin their reputations.”
Even the street vendors selling roasted sweet potatoes and corn could recount a few lines about it.
Their vivid descriptions made it seem as though they had been right there on the scene.
At the Song family’s old residence, a furious roar erupted with enough force to pierce the heavens.
