Three Sentences That Made My Ex-Wife Spit Blood - Chapter 19
Wen Huaxi was so startled that she stumbled backward into the shoe cabinet and nearly lost her balance.
She quickly steadied herself and took a deep breath.
For the baby’s sake, she needed to keep calm during times like this.
“Huaxi, are you home?” Yan Qinglan looked up toward the direction of the surveillance camera, as if sensing her presence.
Wen Huaxi considered pretending she wasn’t home.
But Yan Qinglan seemed absolutely certain. She leaned casually against the corridor wall, clearly determined to wait until the door opened or someone returned.
If her sister Wen Suixue saw that Yan Qinglan had shown up, the situation would only get more complicated.
Wen Huaxi had no choice but to mentally prepare herself. She prayed she could send Yan Qinglan away with just three sentences. Quietly, she cracked the door open.
The moment Yan Qinglan saw her, her hand shot out and grabbed her by the collar before she could react.
There was a flicker of joy in Yan Qinglan’s eyes, but after being ignored for so long and knowing Huaxi had been home the entire time, her irritation boiled to the surface.
“What are you doing? You’re choking me!” Wen Huaxi struggled, trying to push her away, gripping her wrist with both hands.
Only then did Yan Qinglan realize what she was doing and let go.
She didn’t offer an explanation. Instead, she took Huaxi’s hand, pushed the door open, and walked straight in.
“Yan Qinglan! This is my sister’s house! Why are you coming in?” Wen Huaxi panicked.
If her sister checked the security footage and saw this, how could she possibly explain?
“You said it yourself. This is your sister’s house.” Yan Qinglan grabbed Huaxi’s wrist, twisted it behind her back, and placed a firm hand on her shoulder, pinning her in place.
This house was big, but Wen Huaxi had nowhere to run.
“So what if it’s my sister’s house? That makes it mine too. Why can’t I be here? Where I live is none of your business!” she shouted.
Both of her hands were restrained, and she could only move her feet.
She kicked at Yan Qinglan, but the woman didn’t even budge.
Wen Huaxi was on the verge of tears. Her voice cracked with emotion.
“Let go of me, Yan Qinglan! What are you trying to do?”
The fact that Yan Qinglan moved so slowly made her even more furious. Out of frustration, she bit down on her arm.
Yan Qinglan flinched at the feeling of her bite, and the wetness of her saliva made her frown. Instinctively, she relaxed her grip.
Wen Huaxi quickly broke free. But before she could take a single step, Yan Qinglan wrapped an arm tightly around her waist again.
She didn’t even bother wiping her arm. Instead, she leaned in and gently bit the tip of Wen Huaxi’s nose.
It wasn’t painful. If anything, it felt playful.
Yan Qinglan didn’t want to hurt her, but she also refused to let her off the hook so easily.
She tilted her head, pulled Wen Huaxi firmly into her embrace, and softly ran her fingers through her hair.
She was about to take things further when she noticed the teary-eyed girl in her arms. Her red nose and aggrieved expression made her look heartbreakingly pitiful.
“What are you doing? At least explain yourself!” Wen Huaxi was overwhelmed. Yan Qinglan had shown up out of nowhere and was suddenly acting this way. Her brain was fogged from the intimacy.
“Huaxi, come home with me,” Yan Qinglan said with a sigh. Her voice was low, soft, and unusually comforting.
Wen Huaxi felt like crying.
She had come to her sister’s house to quietly rest and carry the pregnancy to term without Yan Qinglan ever finding out.
If she knew there was a child involved, divorce would be nearly impossible.
And now, this woman, who usually didn’t care much for her, had come all the way here and was even being physically affectionate.
What made it worse was that her heart was beating so fast.
“Who wants to go back with you?” she snapped, forcing tears into her eyes to seem more convincing.
“I have my sister. I have my own home. Why should I go back to that cold marital house of yours?”
Yan Qinglan hesitated for a moment. This time, she didn’t loosen her grip. In fact, she pulled Wen Huaxi even closer.
She had no idea that in this very moment, the wolf before her was secretly wagging her tail, already thinking about how to mess with her more.
Yan Qinglan was not ashamed of her twisted sense of humor. She genuinely thought Wen Huaxi was especially cute when she cried.
“This place isn’t as big as our home. There are no housekeepers, and it’s not as convenient.”
She shook off her thoughts and tried to reason with her more seriously.
“You’re married now. It’s not good to keep disturbing your sister’s life.”
Seeing that Wen Huaxi was still glaring at her, she softened her voice even more.
“Huaxi, if I’ve done something wrong, if I’ve upset you, just tell me. Don’t just run off like this. I was worried…”
Before she could finish her sentence, the front door opened.
Yan Qinglan turned her head. Her expression turned cold and alert, like a venomous snake sensing a threat to its territory.
The air around her became tense, ready to strike at anything that dared interrupt.
But Wen Huaxi didn’t have time to care about her dangerous aura.
Only she and her sister had keys to this home. There was no doubt who had just walked in.
Her sister shouldn’t be home yet. She had not expected this.
On top of that, she had failed to send Yan Qinglan away in time. Now the woman was standing in the living room, holding her like that.
She was still in Yan Qinglan’s arms.
Wen Suixue was clearly startled by the stranger in her home. The bag in her hand fell to the floor.
She had just wrapped up work and returned to bring her sister some food and discuss the earlier design draft.
But what shocked her the most was seeing her dear sister, looking completely docile, leaning into the arms of that woman named Yan.
The moment froze.
Wen Huaxi took the chance to bite Yan Qinglan again and kicked her hard.
Finally, she broke free and ran to Wen Suixue’s side.
“You’re back, Sis.”
Right now, anything she said felt hollow and useless.
She tried her best to look innocent and obedient, but her sister didn’t even glance at her.
Wen Suixue didn’t let her hide behind her either. Instead, she grabbed her firmly and pulled her in front like someone about to be interrogated.
“You said you didn’t like Yan Qinglan anymore. You wanted a divorce?”
Wen Huaxi swallowed hard.
“I really don’t like her anymore. She was the one who came here!”
“Then why did you open the door? You could’ve ignored her.”
Wen Suixue did not believe her for a second.
Her beloved sister didn’t look like someone who had fallen out of love. She looked completely under Yan Qinglan’s spell.
Wen Huaxi was speechless.
Yan Qinglan, who had been watching quietly, suddenly understood the situation. She stepped forward and softened her sharp features with a pitiful expression.
“Huaxi, you promised me you wouldn’t bring up divorce again.”
Wen Suixue didn’t know Yan Qinglan well, so she had no way of seeing through her act.
Looking at her seemingly helpless and sorrowful expression, she let out a cold laugh and turned to glare at her sister.
“Big Sister knows she was wrong. Xiaoxi, are you still unwilling to forgive me?” Wen Suixue took the opportunity to press the issue, stirring things up beside her.
Her eyes were already red, and tears started falling before she could speak.
Wen Huaxi had no place left to cry.
“Jie…” She looked at Wen Suixue, but upon seeing her sister’s cold expression, she knew there was no more hope.
In the end, Wen Huaxi was successfully thrown out by Wen Suixue.
That included everything Wen Huaxi had bought over the past week, the pastries Wen Suixue had just prepared, and even Yan Qinglan herself.
Yan Qinglan wrapped her arm around Wen Huaxi and quickly left Wen Suixue’s home.
Once inside the car, Wen Huaxi was still looking back at her sister’s apartment, sobbing quietly.
Unfortunately, the person beside her had already returned to her usual expressionless state the moment she got into the car.
She was smiling, but it carried no warmth and showed no concern for anything.
Not even for the wife she had worked so hard to bring home, who clearly missed her other home and looked at her with such complicated eyes.
Seeing Yan Qinglan ignore her completely, Wen Huaxi grew more upset. She threw herself back into the seat angrily and made up her mind to teach Yan Qinglan a lesson over the next week.
“Don’t be mad,” Yan Qinglan suddenly said, as if she had snapped out of a daze. She turned away from the window and looked directly at Wen Huaxi.
She even reached out and gently smoothed Wen Huaxi’s hair.
“This is all your fault!” Wen Huaxi was still furious and far from being comforted. She grabbed Yan Qinglan’s arm, pulled up her sleeve, and bit down hard.
“Go ahead and bite. But don’t run away without saying anything again. I’ll get worried.”
In those newly returned memories, Wen Huaxi had shone too brightly.
That overwhelming pride and affection made Yan Qinglan behave differently than usual.
It was something that even Wen Huaxi hadn’t expected.
“I just made up with my sister.” After biting a few times without getting any reaction, Wen Huaxi lost interest and let go. Tears still filled her eyes.
Yan Qinglan looked at her red-eyed little bunny and poked her cheek.
Sure enough, her face turned even redder, and her tears grew bigger. It was oddly amusing.
“You still have the nerve to poke me? What were you thinking hugging me like that today? Now my sister has completely misunderstood again.”
The two of them clearly knew they no longer liked each other and were both thinking about divorce. But Wen Suixue didn’t know that.
She simply thought her little sister had run away from a fight with her wife and was using it as an excuse to cool off. She didn’t believe Wen Huaxi had truly changed.
“Why bother explaining so much to her? It’s not like your love life is any of her business.”
Wen Huaxi rolled her eyes. “You think everyone’s family is as messed up as yours? Like there’s some royal throne to inherit or something? My sister and I are really close. Of course she doesn’t want to see me ruin my life.”
“Then why didn’t you listen to her back then?” Yan Qinglan thought of the determined girl who had once tried so hard to get close to her, and her smile suddenly softened.
“…Because I liked you then,” Wen Huaxi replied angrily.
Why couldn’t she have been reborn just a bit earlier, before she registered that marriage with Yan Qinglan? She had already returned to this point in time. Would a little earlier have been too much to ask?
But sadly, that wasn’t something she could control.
“It might not be a complete disaster,” Yan Qinglan said softly, her eyelashes trembling after hearing that confession.
“What?” Wen Huaxi didn’t catch her words.
“Nothing. I won’t stop you from seeing your sister, but you have to come home.”
“Every day?” Wen Huaxi frowned. “You don’t even…”
“Xiaoxi, don’t talk nonsense. Has there been a single day recently that I haven’t come home to be with you?” Yan Qinglan gently tapped the tip of Wen Huaxi’s nose.
“So disobedient,” she added, the unspoken message being that she deserved a little punishment.
Wen Huaxi didn’t quite understand the tone. She turned away, refusing to let Yan Qinglan touch her.
“I’m going to be filming soon. I won’t be able to come home.”
Yan Qinglan froze for a moment. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Why should I tell you? I got the role myself. It’s not like you helped me find it.” Wen Huaxi’s voice bounced back off the car window, sounding muffled.
Yan Qinglan leaned in closer. “Do you want me to help you find a few more? I can. What kind are you looking for?”
Wen Huaxi was stunned. Her cold-hearted, emotionally detached, playboy ex-wife was actually offering to help her get resources?
She turned her head and came face to face with Yan Qinglan’s stunningly beautiful face, so close that her pupils shrank in shock.
“What kind are you looking for? A movie? A TV drama? A brand endorsement?” Yan Qinglan repeated when she saw Wen Huaxi dazed and unresponsive.
Instead of backing away, she moved even closer. Her breath was so close that Wen Huaxi could almost feel the warmth of her lips.
Just before they touched, Wen Huaxi suddenly snapped back to her senses.
That was close. She had nearly fallen into this wicked woman’s trap again.
“Then I want a variety show. A dating one. Next winter would be best. Later is fine too. I’ll be filming before that.” Wen Huaxi made her intentions loud and clear.
She was ready to find someone new.
