This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 86
The plane pierced through the clouds. At the exact moment of dawn, the sunlight, filtering through the veil-like mist, instantly shattered the night’s gloom, pouring into the full-windowed cabin and straight into the eyes of a certain pregnant spouse.
It took an hour to fly to the northeastern city, fulfilling the request to see the sunrise ahead of schedule.
“Is this okay, my ancestor?”
Lu Xinghe embraced Duan Yuluo from behind. The person in his arms was watching the dawn, his gaze focused. Lu Xinghe looked down at his lover, who was smiling with satisfaction at the sight of the sunrise.
Duan Yuluo tilted his head back, kissed Lu Xinghe’s chin, his eyes smiling: “I’m extremely satisfied.”
Lu Xinghe was afraid the view outside the window was too bright for his eyes and covered them with his palm: “Now that you’ve seen it, it’s time to sleep. Even though it’s the weekend tomorrow, we can’t be so indulgent. This counts as staying up late.”
He was worried that if they kept having these 3 AM adventures every day, the baby inside would pick up bad habits.
And start partying every day at 3 AM.
Duan Yuluo felt his vision blocked and reached up to hold Lu Xinghe’s hand: “It’s not that glaring. Since we rarely get to watch the sunrise from a plane, I should watch it a little longer.”
“Why did you suddenly want to see the sunrise so badly?” Lu Xinghe couldn’t win, so he lowered his hand and let him watch a little longer.
“I just really wanted to see it,” Duan Yuluo suddenly recalled his childhood: “I remember the day we were separated in kindergarten, we cried so sadly, didn’t we? The sun was very bright that day. After I got on the plane, I asked my brother if I could see the stars now, and he told me I could see the sun. I cried terribly back then.”
Lu Xinghe chuckled: “Given your brother’s personality, it’s not surprising he’d say that.”
Duan Yuluo looked at the weather outside the plane window at the moment of dawn, the sun now fully risen: “Xingxing, let’s name our child ‘Sun’ (太陽) as a nickname.”
“That works, it’s cute.”
“I flew at 3 AM just to see the sun for him, so he is definitely ‘Sun’,” Duan Yuluo yawned.
“Sleepy now, aren’t you?”
“Mhm.”
“Let’s go home and sleep.”
The pilot of this flight thought to himself: Seriously, who else spoils their spouse this much?
Monday. Galaxy Corporation’s routine morning meeting. All employees dared not be late and arrived at the auditorium ten minutes early.
“Did you guys see CEO Lu came too?”
“Yeah, he came to accompany Little CEO Duan to the meeting.”
“Why does it feel like CEO Lu is sticking so close to Little CEO Duan lately, like he’s afraid of losing him in the corporation?”
“If I had an Omega like Little CEO Duan, I’d want to keep him in my pocket.”
“Tsk, you Alphas are all obsessed with looks.”
“Don’t say that. I’ve noticed Little CEO Duan seems to be vomiting frequently lately.”
“Really?!”
“Could it be…”
Their gossip was cut short when they saw the tall figure at the main entrance. They unanimously reined in their gossipy spirits and sat down obediently.
Duan Yuluo walked into the auditorium. He had indeed just finished vomiting and only came in for the morning meeting after recovering.
“Good morning, Little CEO Duan.” The audio control staff handed Duan Yuluo the microphone.
Duan Yuluo nodded in acknowledgment, took the microphone, walked to the podium, and officially started the weekly Monday meeting.
This was a long-standing tradition at Galaxy Corporation. Every Monday, the CEO would hold a brief meeting to offer support and affirmation for the employees’ work.
The meeting time was not long, usually around half an hour.
Lu Xinghe stood on the last step of the auditorium, watching Duan Yuluo speak on the stage. He saw that he was calm and composed at the moment, speaking with a relaxed yet disciplined manner. No one knew how long he had been vomiting before putting on this suit.
It was impossible for him not to feel anxious.
For him, he was confident he could be a good husband; he could provide everything Duan Yuluo desired. But when it came to caring for a pregnant partner, his experience was zero, because every expectant father’s situation was different.
Take Duan Yuluo, for example: at ten weeks, his morning sickness was still severe. He basically threw up everything he ate, his sleep quality had deteriorated, he often woke up in the middle of the night, and on top of that, his daily routine required him to handle countless meetings and various tasks; he couldn’t just take a break whenever he wanted.
He was genuinely worried about what Duan Yuluo would do if he wasn’t by his side.
He knew that when he wasn’t around, Duan Yuluo could be a steel wall, but the problem was, he couldn’t afford to be a steel wall right now.
So, he had to be inseparable.
Lu Xinghe glanced to the side and saw Duan Yifan standing next to him, wearing sunglasses and with his hands in his pockets: “Why are you here? Did you join Galaxy Corporation?”
“No, just passing by.” Duan Yifan also glanced at Lu Xinghe: “Why are you here? Did you join Galaxy Corporation?”
“To watch over my wife. Why else would I be here?” Lu Xinghe said.
Duan Yifan was puzzled: “Why watch over the kid? He’s perfectly fine at the corporation. What could possibly happen?”
Lu Xinghe looked at him, silent for a moment: “That’s why it makes sense you haven’t dated yet.”
Duan Yifan: “???”
If he wasn’t going to answer, why resort to a personal attack?!
Today’s routine short meeting was very brief, concluding in twenty minutes.
In the CEO’s office—
Duan Yuluo’s first action was to sink onto the sofa, leaning back to relieve the soreness in his lower back.
“Does your back hurt?” Lu Xinghe walked out of the pantry, holding a freshly brewed cup of tea. He had gotten this from Wen Yu, who said it could alleviate prenatal soreness. He handed the tea to Duan Yuluo: “Drink this first, and I’ll give you a massage.”
Duan Yuluo took the warm tea and drank it. His stomach soon felt warm, which also eased the morning sickness he had experienced earlier.
It was fine until he thought about it, but morning sickness was the most painful thing.
He threw up if he ate, and he threw up if he didn’t.
Pregnancy was not as beautiful as he had imagined, not to mention the inexplicable, completely uncontrollable emotions.
“Let’s go. To the lounge, and I’ll rub your back.” Lu Xinghe took the cup from his hand, set it down, and led him to the lounge.
The heavy, light-blocking curtains of the lounge slowly opened.
Duan Yuluo lay down without even taking off his shoes. Getting up at 6 AM every morning was already difficult for him. This routine, which he had maintained since middle school until last month, was difficult to keep up due to the pregnancy.
Now, he could fall asleep as soon as he sat down.
But he couldn’t, as he had other meetings in an hour.
Lu Xinghe saw Duan Yuluo close his eyes as soon as he lay down. Knowing his tendency to sleep, he didn’t wake him. He helped him take off his shoes, grabbed a pillow for him to hug against his stomach to prevent pressure, and then gently turned him to lie on his side.
Duan Yuluo felt Lu Xinghe adjusting his position. Keeping his eyes closed, he instinctively lifted his shirt and pulled Lu Xinghe’s hand to his lower back.
“It’s sore here.”
The sunlight outside streamed into the room. The Omega was lying on his side, and the light fell on his exposed, fair waist. Compared to two months ago, his waist was slightly rounder, and his pregnant belly had a subtle, noticeable curve. Though mostly hidden by his shirt, it was quite obvious when lifted.
He had been the CEO just moments ago in a suit, but with his shirt lifted, he was a delicate clingy spouse relying on his Alpha.
Lu Xinghe lowered his head and kissed the slightly protruding belly. Only then did he place his palm on his lower back, gently rubbing: “Is this pressure okay, Boss?”
“Mmm… comfortable.”
Duan Yuluo rested his head on the pillow, hugged the pillow to his chest, his brows relaxed, letting out a comfortable sigh.
Lu Xinghe could only diligently massage his wife’s back, trying to control and endure the effect of those sounds on him.
The hour-long massage clearly provided excellent rest, making the rest of the day’s work incredibly smooth.
While Duan Yuluo was in meetings or inspecting other departments, Lu Xinghe returned to his own office to manage the corporation’s security maintenance arrangements. However, most tasks didn’t require his direct involvement, unless it was a particularly tricky coding issue.
He had handed over all his own business operations to the elite analysts, only needing to appear for crucial decisions or contact them by phone.
It was fair to say that in order to take care of Duan Yuluo, he had essentially canceled all external work and social engagements.
He respected and supported everything his wife wanted to do.
It reached five o’clock in the afternoon.
Duan Yuluo was leaving the marketing department after an inspection when he received a call from his father, Luo Songran. He answered: “Hello, Dad?”
“Kiddo, your dad and I brought your sister back. Your brother just happens to be on a month-long vacation, so come home for dinner tonight.”
Duan Yuluo heard that his brother was back and thought for a few seconds: “Mhm, okay. I’ll be home around six.”
After hanging up, he reflected. The last time he saw Luo Yuduan was in his freshman year of college; he hadn’t seen him for several years. His brother would probably be happy to hear he was pregnant.
“Xingxing, my brother is back.”
Lu Xinghe buckled Duan Yuluo’s seatbelt with a ‘click’ and chuckled: “He’s probably going to beat me up.”
“My brother is just like that. Our parents like you so much; he wouldn’t dare hit you.”
Lu Xinghe steered the car out of the parking lot: “Your brother has disliked me since kindergarten. Although he doesn’t say it, he’s secretly unhappy that I’m close to you.”
“No way. My brother just thinks we’re childish and doesn’t want to play with us.”
The last rays of the setting sun cut through the car window, a little glaring.
Lu Xinghe reached up and lowered the sun visor on Duan Yuluo’s side. He took out the lemon candy he had put away and handed it to him, continuing: “You two are twins. You should naturally be the closest to each other, but having me around makes him feel frustrated and conspicuous.”
Duan Yuluo took the lemon candy into his mouth, finding it soothing: “But I still love him. I care about him very much too.”
“He thinks you love me the most,” Lu Xinghe smiled, checked the rearview mirror, and drove into the tunnel.
The tunnel’s light and shadows fell upon the man driving. His hands gripped the steering wheel; safety always came first. The way he drove was serious and focused, and the curve of his lips was particularly captivating.
Duan Yuluo watched him and placed his hand on Lu Xinghe’s thigh: “You’re right.”
Lu Xinghe was the one he loved the most.
This Alpha loved him so much. He never dared to imagine what would happen if they were ever apart. They had known each other for twenty-two years, and only the one year in kindergarten were they separated; they had been together ever since.
Habit was a terrifying thing.
Lu Xinghe glanced at the hand on his thigh, which was being unruly, and smiled helplessly: “I’m driving, don’t play around.”
Duan Yuluo feigned innocence: “You drive your car, I drive my own.”
Lu Xinghe burst out laughing.
Arriving back at the Luo family estate in Jiangtian Yisu.
When they arrived, the parking lot outside the old house was full of cars, the most eye-catching of which was Luo Yuduan’s SUV.
Seeing Luo Yuduan’s car, Lu Xinghe knew he was in for a few words from his brother-in-law later. This was probably an invisible brother complex—helpless.
“Second Brother!”
Duan Yuluo saw his sister, Duan Yikui, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, running toward him. She was a grown woman now, and for a split second, his mind went blank, deliberating whether he could hug her when she rushed at him like this.
Fortunately, Lu Xinghe stepped in to block her.
Lu Xinghe stood in front of Duan Yuluo, actively welcoming his cute little sister-in-law. He stopped her excitement with a gentlemanly hand, holding her shoulders and giving her a gentlemanly hug: “Kui Kui, long time no see. I’ll hug you on behalf of your brother first.”
Duan Yikui frowned, placing her hands on her hips, looking at Duan Yuluo: “Brother, why won’t you hug me? I haven’t been back for two years! Don’t you miss me?”
The tall Luo Yuduan walked up behind them and put his arm around Duan Yuluo’s shoulder, intending to say a few words. Instead, he was immediately pushed away by his brother, his outstretched arm freezing in mid-air. He was stunned.
Duan Yuluo had smelled his brother’s scent. He looked apologetically at his brother’s surprised and hurt expression, about to apologize, but then his stomach revolted. He couldn’t help covering his mouth, dry heaving out loud.
That single dry heave drew the attention of the entire family.
The answer was on the tip of everyone’s tongues.
Even the Old Master’s blue cat couldn’t help but peek its head out to gossip.
Luo Yuduan watched his brother and seemed to guess what was happening. His expression was blank. He clenched his fist and heavily punched Lu Xinghe, his eyes screaming, ‘How dare you get my little brother pregnant!’
Lu Xinghe was caught off guard, clutching his chest in pain, looking incredulous at Luo Yuduan: “…Brother-in-law, Yuluo and I are legally married.”
He was utterly exasperated by this brother complex.
Every time, he made him look like a rogue.
