This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 85
The car drove into the garage.
Lu Xinghe parked the car and found that Duan Yuluo was still sleeping, and soundly too—something that would be practically impossible if he weren’t pregnant.
He opened his door, closed it gently, and walked to the passenger side. He opened that door, bent down to unbuckle Duan Yuluo’s seatbelt, and then picked him up. The fact that this entire process didn’t wake him up showed just how exhausted he was.
But as soundly as he was sleeping now, that was how whimsical he would be in the middle of the night.
However, there was nothing he could do. What else could he do but pamper his pregnant wife? There was no other way.
Holding him face-to-face, his arms firmly cradled Duan Yuluo’s hips. He closed the car door with his elbow and slowly walked from the garage back into the house.
At this time, the fragrant scent of dinner was already wafting through the house.
The auntie who was on vacation had returned.
Hearing the movement, the auntie peered out from the kitchen and saw Lu Xinghe carrying Duan Yuluo. She was a little surprised, as she had watched this child grow up and knew Duan Yuluo’s habits: “What’s wrong, Yuluo? Is he unwell?”
“He fell asleep in the car. I’m taking him up for a nap,” Lu Xinghe saw that the auntie had prepared sweet-and-sour shrimp and thought for a moment: “Add a few more slices of lemon to the shrimp, please. He’s been craving sour things lately.”
Then, he carried Duan Yuluo to the elevator and went upstairs.
The auntie, holding her spatula, heard the phrase ‘he’s been craving sour things lately,’ and her eyes grew wider and brighter. Wait a minute, Yuluo has loved sweet things since childhood; when did he start craving sour? Craving sour…
Could it be—
Pregnancy?!
This ignited the gossip soul of the middle-aged woman. She immediately pulled out her phone to notify the family.
Lu Xinghe carried Duan Yuluo back to the bedroom. As he held him, he assessed his weight and realized he seemed to have lost weight recently, thanks to the morning sickness over the last couple of weeks. He thought of the lemon flower oil given by the Chinese doctor named Wen. It seemed he needed to find a time to discuss mass-producing it.
He wondered if the lemon flower oil could be made into something they could put in the air purifier; that would be even better.
Just as he was about to place Duan Yuluo on the bed.
“…It’s bad.”
The moment Duan Yuluo touched the bed, his eyes opened. He grabbed Lu Xinghe’s arm, sat up, and suddenly remembered something, making him bolt towards the study.
“Why are you running?” Lu Xinghe grabbed him immediately, seeing him panicked and still groggy from sleep: “What’s bad?”
“What’s bad?” Duan Yuluo stopped, probably still a little confused from sleep. He paused, thought for a long time, and couldn’t recall why he was so anxious just now. He looked up, seriously facing Lu Xinghe: “What’s bad?”
Lu Xinghe looked at him. Seeing his bewildered expression, he laughed after a moment: “How would I know what’s bad? You said it was bad.”
Duan Yuluo was deep in thought: “I did think of something bad. Let’s go to the study and look.” He headed toward the study, thinking that looking around might help him remember what he had thought of.
It was definitely something important.
Lu Xinghe smiled helplessly and could only follow him: “Did you dream something?”
That sentence jogged Duan Yuluo’s memory.
Duan Yuluo stopped and turned to Lu Xinghe: “It seems it was a dream.” Then he looked enlightened and repeated: “It was a dream. Nothing bad happened.”
Lu Xinghe met Duan Yuluo’s earnest look. Although it was a confused moment, this kind of naiveté showed a different Duan Yuluo—a little bewildered Omega who had cast aside his intense career ambition and sense of responsibility.
He was especially adorable.
He smiled, walked up to Duan Yuluo, and pulled him into a hug. He lowered his forehead to rest against his head, his voice full of doting laughter: “Then it was just a dream. You just finished the Shareholders’ Meeting, and the Guardian Chip company was approved for establishment, right? What could be bad? Nothing is bad; everything is great.”
“Then I must have been confused from sleep,” Duan Yuluo looked up: “I really was too sleepy.”
“Good. Then you’ll eat dinner and go to sleep. I asked the auntie to make you lemon shrimp.”
Duan Yuluo’s eyes lit up at the word ‘lemon’: “Lemon shrimp is delicious.”
Lu Xinghe smiled and said no more, letting him take a shower first.
After dinner was made, the auntie left for the day.
Only the two of them remained in the dining room for dinner.
“At the meeting this afternoon, Old Master Chu said he would acquire the East City land for me.”
“Hmm, and then?” Lu Xinghe placed a peeled shrimp in Duan Yuluo’s bowl.
“I told him you had promised to get it for me,” Duan Yuluo said.
Lu Xinghe raised an eyebrow slightly, noticing Duan Yuluo’s somewhat smug look. He lowered his eyes and chuckled: “Is there a difference if I get it or if Great-Grandpa gets it? Does me getting it make you that happy?”
“It’s still different because Great-Grandpa praised you,” Duan Yuluo was satisfied, eating the peeled shrimp along with the lemon slice. The sweet and sour flavor perfectly suited his appetite. He lowered his head and quickly finished the rice in his bowl.
Lu Xinghe felt a sense of accomplishment seeing him eat so well and enjoying the peeled shrimp.
“But…” Duan Yuluo stopped eating halfway, looking hesitant and annoyed: “But I actually fell asleep during the meeting.”
Lu Xinghe already knew about this, and since they hadn’t told the family about the pregnancy, this was naturally an unforgivable mistake for Duan Yuluo. He could only comfort him: “How about we tell the family you’re pregnant? It wasn’t intentional.”
“But that’s not an excuse,” Duan Yuluo sighed, looking down at the rice in his bowl: “Thinking about it, I’ve lost my appetite.”
Lu Xinghe saw that he was on his fourth bowl of rice and thought, He should be losing his appetite; it’s the fourth bowl: “Then let’s stop eating.”
Duan Yuluo felt more and more frustrated, thinking that as the newly appointed CEO, he actually fell asleep during a Shareholders’ Meeting: “This was my first Shareholders’ Meeting, and everyone saw it…”
As he spoke, tears began to fall.
He lowered his head and stuffed a mouthful of rice, crying vaguely: “…Such a low-level mistake. I really shouldn’t have done that.” He then looked at Lu Xinghe, his expression serious: “I deserve to be criticized. I actually made such a mistake. Pregnancy is no excuse.”
Lu Xinghe was definitely shocked to see him crying while eating. Opportunities to see Duan Yuluo cry were rare; most of the time, he was the one who made him cry. But spontaneous crying like this was truly uncommon.
“Right, Xingxing,” Duan Yuluo felt distressed. He stopped eating, holding his face: “It’s really inexcusable. I will reflect on this. I absolutely must not make such a low-level mistake again next time.”
Lu Xinghe suppressed a laugh and humored him: “Yes, we just won’t make it again.”
Oh my god, why is his wife so adorable!
The next second, Duan Yuluo’s face went pale. He covered his mouth, stood up, and dashed toward the bathroom.
Lu Xinghe saw that he was nauseous again and immediately followed him.
…And so, the entire meal was thrown up.
The toilet automatically sensed the situation, flushed away the waste, and even sprayed a faint fragrance.
The bathroom regained its clean, fresh lemon scent.
Duan Yuluo braced himself against the toilet bowl, his eyes moist, looking utterly devoid of life. He was dizzy from vomiting. As delicious as the food was a second ago, now he felt it was the most disgusting thing in the world. Why did he eat it?
The kind of self-pity he couldn’t control made him want to squat down.
But before he could squat, Lu Xinghe picked him up.
“Was the vomiting really bad?” Lu Xinghe didn’t let him squat. He lifted him up, holding him face-to-face. He freed one hand to rub his back, then set him down on the sink counter and got him a cup of warm water to rinse his mouth.
“Bad,” Duan Yuluo looked listless. He took the warm water, gargled, and bent over to spit into the sink, rinsing several times.
Lu Xinghe took the cup from his hand, made sure he was sitting securely, pulled a very sour lemon-flavored candy from his pocket, unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth: “Try this. It’s very sour. You should like it.”
Duan Yuluo bit onto the candy Lu Xinghe offered, took hold of his hand, and peeked out his tongue, licking the finger, not letting go of the sugar powder on the fingertip.
His fingertip was touched by something soft and wet. It was an unintentional action.
Lu Xinghe’s hand froze, and his eyes deepened slightly.
Duan Yuluo pretended not to see Lu Xinghe’s expression. He wrapped both arms around his neck and shifted slightly forward on the counter. He hooked his legs around Lu Xinghe’s waist, hanging onto him. After feeling his Alpha’s palm securely support his hips, he buried his face into his shoulder and nuzzled him.
He gently sucked on the lemon-flavored candy in his mouth until the entire cavity was filled with the lemon scent. He leaned into Lu Xinghe’s ear and whispered:
“Baby, do you want a taste of my candy?”
If this wasn’t called flirting, what was? Which Alpha could withstand such flirting from his Omega? Not having a reaction would mean something was wrong.
But the problem was, a reaction was not allowed right now.
Lu Xinghe took a deep breath, suppressing the arousal. He carried the instigator out, pretending not to understand: “No, I don’t want a taste. I don’t like sweets.”
Duan Yuluo heard him refuse, rested his head on his shoulder facing outward, and muttered faintly: “Fine, don’t then.”
Just as he finished speaking, he felt a light swat on his butt.
The sound was crisp.
He raised his head, embarrassed and annoyed, glaring at Lu Xinghe: “Lu Xinghe!”
Lu Xinghe said: “We’re even now. Don’t blame me if you cry later for provoking me.”
“Who provoked you? Self-important.”
“Besides penetration, there are many other ways. Your hands, feet, waist, and back can all be used,” Lu Xinghe carried Duan Yuluo into the bedroom, walked to the bed, and put him down. He immediately clasped his fingers into his, pressing his hand above his head.
The Alpha leaned over him, his powerful presence enveloping Duan Yuluo. He spoke the most explicit words in a casual tone, his dangerous aura drawing near.
Duan Yuluo met Lu Xinghe’s deep eyes, nervously pursing his lips.
“Do you still want to play, Baby?” Lu Xinghe asked.
Duan Yuluo thought of playing with his hands, feet, waist, and back, and resolutely closed his eyes: “…I’m sleeping.”
Lu Xinghe curved his lips and smiled. He held Duan Yuluo’s hand, which he had pressed above his head, and kissed his wrist: “Don’t be greedy. We can play in the second trimester. Be good now.”
Duan Yuluo thought to himself, What can we play with now?
Then he thought again: There’s a lot we can play with.
The night deepened, and the time came to the familiar three in the morning.
Both of them opened their eyes simultaneously.
Duan Yuluo: “Baby, I have an idea.”
Lu Xinghe thought that he was destined to never escape a 3 AM whim again: “Yes, tell me.”
“I want to see the sunrise right now.”
Lu Xinghe: “…” A two-second silence: “Are you serious?”
Duan Yuluo turned and snuggled into Lu Xinghe’s arms: “A little bit serious, but also a little bit not.”
“Fine, let’s go see the sun.”
So, half an hour later—
After filing a report with air traffic control,
A private jet took off from the rooftop helipad, flying toward the city where the dawn was about to break.
