This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 15
“He has to play ‘Barbie Princess’ with me!”
“He doesn’t like Barbie princesses; he likes Ultraman.”
“But he looks just like a Barbie princess! Come on, try on my little dress. It’s so pretty, just like a princess’s! You won’t know unless you try it on.”
“…The little one is a boy. He can’t wear a dress.”
“Who says boys can’t wear dresses? You can wear whatever you want. Who made that rule?”
“Hmm, I guess that’s true.”
Duan Yu Luo, who had been hoping Lu Xing He would help him stand up to Jiang Nianqiao, froze when he heard their conversation.
“Huh?!”
His face was so full of grievance he was on the verge of tears. He reached out and grabbed Lu Xing He’s clothes, shaking them.
Lu Xing He thought for a moment and then took Duan Yu Luo’s hand. “Little one, I guess nobody ever said boys can’t wear dresses. Do you want to try one on?”
Duan Yu Luo’s face crumpled like a bitter melon. …Lu Xing He, you said you were here to protect me! How are you on Jiang Nianqiao’s side now?!
He turned and ran away. He didn’t want to wear a dress!
Ten minutes later…
Upstairs in the children’s room…
“See? Isn’t it pretty?”
In front of the mirror, Duan Yu Luo looked at himself in a princess dress. He stared for a long time, as if he didn’t recognize himself.
It was a pure white lace princess dress with beautiful pearls sewn into it, the kind of style girls love. It shouldn’t have been very appealing to a boy.
But it left Lu Xing He speechless.
Jiang Nianqiao poked her cousin Duan Yu Luo’s face and put a pearl headband on him. “See? I told you so. You’re super pretty!”
Duan Yu Luo was skeptical of all the praise. He turned around in front of the mirror with a look of doubt, admiring himself. His expression was conflicted. “Where is this pretty?” He turned to show Lu Xing He. “Xing Xing, do I look good?”
How can a boy wear a dress?
Lu Xing He stared intently. He never imagined that his little friend would look like a doll in a dress. His eyes shone as he said with complete sincerity, “You’re really pretty.”
So boys can wear dresses, and they can look so pretty, too.
Can he give the little one a dress as a gift next time?
Duan Yu Luo didn’t believe him. He leaned closer to the mirror to examine himself and mumbled, “I’m not pretty at all.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, another reflection appeared in the mirror.
“I think Duan Yu Luo is the prettiest kid in the world,” Lu Xing He bent down, leaning close to Duan Yu Luo’s ear, and whispered in a childlike and conspiratorial voice. “Little one, you’re the prettiest person in my whole world.”
What child doesn’t love to hear praise? Little Duan Yu Luo was no exception.
“Okay, fine.” Duan Yu Luo slightly lifted his chin, acting like a proud little princess. “I’ll play with you guys for a little while, but only a little while.”
From then on, he willingly joined them in their game of Barbie princesses. Today, Duan Yu Luo was the princess.
And the next events unfolded as follows:
“Lu Xing He, the princess needs some water now.”
“Okay, I’ll go get some.”
“Lu Xing He, the princess is hungry.”
“I’ll go get you some yummy food.”
“Lu Xing He, the princess’s head is itchy.”
“Okay, I’ll scratch it for you. Is this pressure okay, Princess?”
“Perfect. The princess will give you a gem sticker as a reward later!”
Little Jiang Nianqiao watched the two boys, who were more invested in the game than she was. She curiously leaned close to her older cousin, Luo Yu Duan, and whispered, “Brother, is that Lu Xing He the little one’s friend from back home?”
Luo Yu Duan was used to this by now. Lu Xing He had flown all the way from another country just because he was worried about his brother’s little ‘thingy.’ Being a princess’s knight was nothing to him.
“Yeah. The little one really likes Lu Xing He.”
Before long, both Lu Xing He and Luo Yu Duan’s faces were covered in Barbie princess gem stickers. Duan Yu Luo and Jiang Nianqiao had so much fun with them, and there was nothing the boys could do about it. After all, they didn’t know how to act cute.
They had no little brother or sister who could.
After a while, while his cousins were busy playing, Duan Yu Luo went to the bathroom.
He pulled himself up on the sink, stepping on a small stool, and looked at himself in the mirror, admiring his appearance again. Yeah, I do look pretty in this princess dress.
But…
In the mirror, the pretty little boy’s head was down, looking a little unhappy.
“I’m sorry.”
Duan Yu Luo was still debating whether to take the dress off when he heard Lu Xing He’s voice behind him. He turned his head and was confused to hear him apologize.
“Huh?”
“Do you not like the dress?” Lu Xing He walked up to Duan Yu Luo. He stood on the stool, so he was slightly taller, looking down at his friend. “Let’s take it off then.”
“But you said I looked pretty in it,” Duan Yu Luo said, looking down and touching the corner of his dress, muttering softly.
“But you’re not happy,” Lu Xing He took his hand, his young voice filled with sincerity. “More than the dress, I want you to be happy.”
Duan Yu Luo’s eyes immediately lit up. He quickly tugged at the bow on his chest. “Then help me take it off! Help me! I want to be a cool boy!”
Lu Xing He nodded. “Okay.”
His little friend couldn’t be unhappy. Even if he thought the dress was pretty, he couldn’t let Duan Yu Luo be sad.
With Lu Xing He’s help, he took off the little dress. He almost ran out in just his underwear to get his clothes, but Lu Xing He stopped him. He sat on the toilet, swinging his feet, and waited for him to get his clothes.
A moment later, Lu Xing He came back with overalls and a shirt.
Duan Yu Luo knew he was a big boy now and could dress himself, so he reached out to take the clothes from Lu Xing He.
“I want to help you,” Lu Xing He said, holding the clothes and looking down to ask for his friend’s permission. “Can I, little one?”
Duan Yu Luo tilted his head and thought about it. He remembered what his dad had told him, and he answered in a serious, childlike voice, “But Dad said you have to do things for yourself. I can put on clothes myself.”
Lu Xing He looked a little disappointed. He held the clothes and lowered his head.
“Oh, okay, fine.” Duan Yu Luo waved his hand at Lu Xing He, leaned in, and smiled. “I need my Xing Xing a lot, don’t I?”
Lu Xing He’s face then broke into a radiant smile. He was so happy as he helped his little friend put on his clothes, paying careful attention to every detail.
“And my shoes,” Duan Yu Luo said, sitting on the toilet, swinging his feet, wanting to take off the shiny princess shoes on his feet.
“Okay.” Lu Xing He crouched down in front of him and took his shoes off.
“Xing Xing, these shoes are pretty cool too, right?” Duan Yu Luo asked.
Lu Xing He placed the princess shoes to the side. He glanced at them and then looked back at Duan Yu Luo. “Yeah, they’re cool, but you don’t like them, right?”
Duan Yu Luo shook his head. “I don’t like them.”
Lu Xing He stood up, went to wash his hands, and after making sure they were clean, he took Duan Yu Luo’s hand, holding it as he helped him hop off the toilet. “If you don’t like something, you don’t like it. No one can force you. From now on, we’ll be brave and say we don’t like it.”
“Okay! Brother Xing Xing~” Duan Yu Luo’s voice rose happily. His eyes curved like a crescent moon, and he shook his head, skipping along, looking like he was in the best mood ever.
Lu Xing He held the small hand in his, thinking to himself that he wouldn’t buy a princess dress for the little one, because the little one didn’t like it.
He just wanted the little one to be happy.
“Kids! Come downstairs and eat!”
A woman’s voice called out from downstairs.
As night fell, the villa garden was brightly lit.
At the dads’ call, the four children sat on the garden swing for a group photo before they had to say goodbye. Duan Yu Luo and Jiang Nianqiao, who had changed back into their own clothes, sat on the swing, while Lu Xing He and Luo Yu Duan stood on either side of it.
“Wait, wait, no. I have to hug Xing Xing.” Duan Yu Luo saw that his dad was about to take the picture and anxiously waved his little hands in the air. He then hugged Lu Xing He. “If we take the picture like this, I can look at it every day.”
After saying that, he leaned close to Lu Xing He and whispered, “I’ll even hug it when I sleep. We have to take a good picture.”
Lu Xing He let his little friend hug him. Even though his expression didn’t show much, his lips were practically smiling all the way to his ears.
The dad taking the picture sighed. What a social butterfly. He smiled helplessly. “Okay, let’s do it.”
The picture was taken at the peak of the children’s smiles.
The best childhood is one with people your own age, especially with people who will accompany you as you grow up.
Clemens leaned in to look at the photo his wife, Lu Qing, had taken. When he saw his son staring at the little one, he couldn’t hold it in and asked his business partner, Duan Yizhou, “Mr. Duan, your son likes my son so much, should we get them engaged?”
His other dad, Duan Yizhou, laughed. “Let’s leave that to them when they’re older. They have a good relationship now, but the little one might not choose Xing Xing when he grows up.”
“My son is very single-minded,” Clemens said, nodding as if in agreement with himself. “He sticks with what he likes until the very end.”
“People are always growing. The future is for them to decide. As parents, we shouldn’t worry too much,” his other dad, Duan Yizhou, patted his business partner on the shoulder. “Instead of thinking about an engagement, you should give me the proposal for that commercial land soon.”
“Workaholic,” Clemens said, shaking his head helplessly.
