This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 16
A year passed in the blink of an eye.
Due to the close business collaboration between the two families, they couldn’t see each other every day like before, but they still managed to meet every two months.
Each time Duan Yu Luo and Lu Xing He met, they would cling to each other without fail. They would immediately start with their Ultraman transformation, then nuzzle each other like two little puppies, and then talk about everything under the sun, from mud to the universe.
They could also play with a single leaf all day long.
And when it was time to say goodbye, they would get sad and cry, as if they would never see each other again. The adults found it amusing, wondering why the two boys acted as if they were in a TV show. They also marveled at how incredibly good the boys’ relationship was.
They rarely had arguments or conflicts, and when they did, they would resolve them on the spot and praise each other without reservation. What’s more, when the two were together, they were both emotionally stable and cheerful.
Soon, Duan Yu Luo received some excellent news.
He was going back home to China!
“Yay!!”
Kindergarten had just let out, and Duan Yu Luo was obediently holding his brother Luo Yu Duan’s hand, walking home. He immediately jumped up and down when he heard his dad say those words at the front door. He hugged his brother’s arm. “I can finally see Xing Xing every day!!”
His brother, who was being dragged along, “…” Can I please not jump?
In the end, his little brother forced him to jump in place together.
The reason for their return was that his dad, Luo Songran, was pregnant with a second child. Additionally, he had a global violin concert tour coming up, and it would be difficult to care for both children. So they decided to go back to China for the last semester of kindergarten and let their family help take care of the two boys.
So Duan Yu Luo kept this little secret to himself, eagerly waiting for winter break to arrive so he could go back and surprise Lu Xing He.
When winter break came, Duan Yu Luo went back to China with his two dads and his brother. The first thing he wanted to do was find Lu Xing He.
He had even asked Uncle Clemens to keep it a secret so he could surprise Lu Xing He.
At that moment, Lu Xing He was at the skate park at home, playing on his skateboard. He was wearing a tracksuit and protective gear. His superior height for his age already made him look like a young man.
With a swift, practiced motion, he stepped onto the skateboard and rode down a steep ramp.
His gaze was determined, and his movements were bold and handsome.
He was completely unaware that a little boy in a yellow hat was peeking through the park gate, his mouth agape, his face stunned as he watched Lu Xing He skateboard on a difficult ramp.
In his eyes, Lu Xing He on the skateboard looked as if he had grown wings and was flying on the ground.
“Brother, Lu Xing He is still so handsome.”
Duan Yu Luo held the door frame, his eyes changing from shock to admiration. He was so excited he flailed his arms and bounced in place. “He got even better in just two months!”
His brother, Luo Yu Duan, looked at his little brother, who hadn’t grown an inch in a year. He bounced like Super Mario. Luo Yu Duan couldn’t help but hold his hand up to his brother’s head to stop him from bouncing. “I told you to eat more.”
“I’m going to go scare him.” Duan Yu Luo saw Lu Xing He slide to the other side with his back to them. He took a little running start, his short legs pattering, and jumped from the stairs directly into the skate track.
This startled the coach nearby. Where did this kid come from?
“Hey, hey, little boy, you can’t run in here!” The coach ran from the end of the track, but his speed was no match for Lu Xing He’s.
Duan Yu Luo had no idea he couldn’t come in. After he jumped down, he saw Lu Xing He skateboarding down another ramp. He was going so fast that Duan Yu Luo froze in place, completely stunned.
“Little brother!” Luo Yu Duan, who was behind him, was also shocked.
As Lu Xing He came down a turn on the other ramp, he was focused on his skateboarding. Suddenly, he saw his beloved friend appear in front of him, right on the track. In his surprise, he was about to crash into Duan Yu Luo.
Duan Yu Luo was so scared he hugged his head and crouched down.
He was so terrified his little shoulders were trembling, and his legs felt like jelly.
But he didn’t get hit as he expected. He only heard the sound of a skateboard hitting the wall, followed by a fall and some heavy breathing. Then, a hand grabbed his arm.
“Little one!”
Duan Yu Luo, still hugging his head, looked up in a daze. He saw Lu Xing He crawling up from the side, then kneeling in front of him, his face full of worry. “…Xing Xing.”
Then he saw the skateboard overturned next to him, and he saw the red, slightly bloody scrape on Lu Xing He’s arm.
His eyes immediately turned red.
Had he done something wrong?
The coach was also badly shaken, especially after seeing Lu Xing He, his little VIP, jump off the skateboard. The momentum was already fast, and he had rolled several times on the ramp. A child’s bones were so fragile. If he had gotten hurt, the coach would have been in big trouble.
He propped himself up on the edge with one arm and jumped down. He quickly ran over to them, his face pale. “Lu Xing He, can you do that? How dangerous is that?!”
Lu Xing He got up from the ground, not caring if his skateboard was okay. His first priority was to run to Duan Yu Luo.
“Little one, are you okay?”
Duan Yu Luo was in a daze for two seconds. When he finally came to, he started to feel regret.
He hugged his little head and looked up at Lu Xing He, his eyes filled with tears of fear. “Brother Xing Xing…”
Lu Xing He hadn’t even processed that his little friend was back in the country. He had just suddenly appeared in front of him, and his appearance was enough to scare him to tears. Seeing him cry like this, he felt it was all his fault. He had scared the little one.
Just as he was about to speak, he saw Duan Yu Luo lower his head and gently blew on his wound, like a little feather tickling his heart.
“Does it hurt?” Duan Yu Luo asked, carefully looking up at Lu Xing He. He choked out, “Brother Xing Xing, does it hurt a lot?”
Lu Xing He saw that his little friend still had tears on his eyelashes. He was clearly scared himself but was still worried about him. What a little fool. His sudden appearance made him incredibly happy.
He used the back of his hand to wipe the tears from Duan Yu Luo’s face. “It doesn’t hurt.”
“It really doesn’t hurt?” Duan Yu Luo was half-convinced.
Lu Xing He stood up and jumped in place, even moving his injured arm and butt. It hurt a little, but he held it in. “It doesn’t hurt at all.”
Duan Yu Luo was still in a crouch, looking up at Lu Xing He, who had just fallen but could now jump without crying. His eyes filled with admiration again. He said in a sweet voice, “Brother Xing Xing, you’re so amazing, and so brave.”
Lu Xing He’s heart fluttered with joy at the little one’s adoring gaze. He smiled through the pain.
In the next second, he grimaced in pain and looked at Luo Yu Duan in surprise, who had touched his wound.
Luo Yu Duan pulled his hand back, helped his brother up, and looked at Lu Xing He’s bravado. “Just say it hurts. Don’t lie to him; he’ll believe you.”
But then his brother scolded him.
Duan Yu Luo, seeing that his brother had hurt Lu Xing He, angrily put his hands on his hips. With a fierce, childish look, he pointed his little chicken claw finger at his brother. “Don’t you dare bully Xing Xing!”
Luo Yu Duan rubbed his nose, looking innocent. “I’m not.”
Lu Xing He didn’t want the two brothers to fight, so he held onto Duan Yu Luo. “Little one, I’m not in pain. I’m okay.” He changed the subject. “Are you back for winter break?”
“It’s bleeding, so it must hurt.” Duan Yu Luo’s face was all crumpled up with sadness. He was so angry he stomped his feet. “It’s all my fault! I promise I’ll never do that again!”
Perhaps because he was so small, he was getting mad at himself for making a mistake. His face was puffed up with anger, and he was jumping up and down. In his overalls, he looked just like Mario.
Lu Xing He stared intently at his little friend who had surprised him by coming back to China, letting the coach spray medicine on his arm. In his mind, he thought:
The little one is so cute even when he’s angry.
It’s so good to have him back.
That night.
Because of what happened, Duan Yu Luo was taken back by his two dads for a good talking-to. He cried a river, faced the wall, sincerely admitted his mistake, and promised he would never do that again.
His brother, Luo Yu Duan, sighed like a little old man.
The dads also wondered why the two boys, born only a minute apart, could have such different personalities.
“Dad, I think Lu Xing He spoils little brother too much,” his brother Luo Yu Duan said, holding his dad’s hand and looking at his other dad on the sofa, who was comforting his brother. “He doesn’t criticize him even when he makes a mistake. This way, little brother will never grow up.”
His dad, Luo Songran, listened to his eldest son’s serious words in a childish voice and rubbed his head with great emotion. “Then you’ll just have to be the one to teach him. You’re the older brother; he’ll listen to you.”
“Little brother ran to find Lu Xing He as soon as he got back. I think he should have gone to see Grandpa,” his brother Luo Yu Duan said, looking up at his dad in confusion. “Dad, why does little brother like Lu Xing He so much?”
His dad, Luo Songran, seemed to remember something and laughed. “Who knows?”
In the living room.
Duan Yu Luo was crying and blowing snot bubbles. His eyelids were red. He wiped his nose on his other dad’s clothes and said in a muffled voice, “Other dad, you’ve scolded me, so can I talk now?”
His other dad, Duan Yizhou, helplessly wiped his little son’s tears. When he was younger, he thought the twins would be easy to raise since they didn’t inherit their dad’s personality. But now that they were older, the younger one was exactly like his dad: he cried easily and was a handful.
“Go ahead,” he said.
“I want to learn how to skateboard.” Duan Yu Luo sniffled, thinking of Lu Xing He. “I want to learn with Xing Xing.”
“Skateboarding is quite dangerous. You’ll fall. Aren’t you scared?”
“I’m not scared.” Duan Yu Luo said, full of confidence. “If I fall, Xing Xing will kiss it better, and it won’t hurt!”
His other dad, “…”
