The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 60
Monday morning, the advisor organized a meeting. Qin Huai arrived early at the classroom and sat quietly in the corner, scrolling through her iPad, reading saved documents line by line.
It was still that chemical formula. Qin Huai had continuously adjusted the ratio of the reagents used during this time, but the results were never satisfactory, so she had to search for new information. She stayed up all night yesterday and finally found a glimmer of hope, which allowed her to sleep for a short while with a bit of peace of mind. When she woke up, her temples were throbbing painfully.
The classroom was almost full. Qin Huai turned off her iPad and twirled a pen between her fingers. An Omega behind her lightly tapped her shoulder, and she turned her head to look.
“Did you message Shen Zhi to come?” the long-haired Omega asked, blinking her round eyes.
Usually, when the advisor organized a meeting, everyone subconsciously avoided calling Shen Zhi, but this time someone specifically brought it up. Qin Huai thought she had missed something and asked, “Should I call her?”
The long-haired Omega nodded. “The advisor specifically requested it.”
Qin Huai dipped her chin, turned around, and scrolled on her phone screen. After she and Shen Zhi parted ways last time, she had deleted Shen Zhi’s WeChat account, keeping only the phone number for easy contact. After all that time, Shen Zhi might have known she had deleted her WeChat, and now she was sending her messages daily.
Qin Huai expertly found the sender, swiped her finger across the screen, briefly glanced at the messages, and then clicked ‘delete all.’ She then drafted a text message.
【Qin Huai: The advisor needs you to come to a meeting.】
Followed by a room number. Qin Huai didn’t know how the other side replied, because immediately after sending the message, she dragged the number and blocked Shen Zhi.
Looking at the clean page, Qin Huai tapped her fingers on the screen, watching the light source dim and then brighten, eventually revealing her own reflection. For a moment, she felt a hollow space in her heart.
She said Shen Zhi was childish, but how was she any less childish?
If she truly intended to cut ties so cleanly, why did she have to delete all means of communication with Shen Zhi?
Was she afraid Shen Zhi would message her and disturb her? Or was she afraid she wouldn’t be able to resist?
The person in the black screen changed from a slight smile to a downturned mouth. Qin Huai felt annoyed and slammed the phone heavily onto the desk.
Given the current state of her relationship with Shen Zhi, she would definitely have to resign from her position as the freshman assistant-senior, and the task of mentoring Shen Zhi’s lab work could also be handed over to someone else. Qin Huai made up her mind to go to the freshman counselor that afternoon to explain the situation.
When the advisor entered the classroom, Shen Zhi had not yet arrived. The elderly Omega naturally carried an aura of strictness. She first scanned her students with lowered eyes. Finding that the students were scattered, she moved people to sit together.
“I called you here today for one matter,” the advisor said, resting her hands on the edge of the desk with a stern face. “Regarding Qin Huai’s research project, Han Yishuang has applied to me, wishing to work with Qin Huai.”
Hearing her name, Qin Huai looked up. Especially after the advisor finished the last sentence, she glanced toward Han Yishuang not far away.
Han Yishuang was wearing a crisp white shirt today; the collar and back showed no wrinkles. Her hair was simply tied back in a low ponytail, and her thin lips were slightly pursed. As if knowing Qin Huai was looking at her, the somewhat cold and delicate corners of her lips slowly curved into a smile, and her eyes curved like a crescent moon.
“Qin Huai, do you have any objections?” the advisor handed the decision power to Qin Huai.
To be honest, Qin Huai truly disliked working with others. Cooperation required compatibility, and it was hard to find someone who could keep up with her pace. If she accidentally found someone who couldn’t, the subsequent process would be very troublesome, and she didn’t have that much energy to look after others.
But if the person was Han Yishuang, that would be different. Qin Huai was very clear about Han Yishuang’s capabilities she was one of the very few people who could figure out the second half of a sentence just by hearing the first half. Her joining the experiment was very suitable. Yet, somehow, despite it being a good proposal, Qin Huai felt uneasy.
This experiment was not just hers; it was also the research direction of her mother for many years. Bringing someone else in to work on it now felt like it didn’t completely belong to her anymore.
Sensing Qin Huai’s silence, the advisor leaned forward and began to analyze the pros and cons of Han Yishuang joining. “It’s actually very difficult for one person to complete this experiment, regardless of individual ability. It’s simply because the early stages require a lot of time for investigation, data collection, and data organization. For these reasons alone, I highly recommend you find a partner.”
The advisor’s points were all issues Qin Huai had considered, so she only hesitated for a second before finally nodding. “Teacher, I have no problem with it.”
Since Qin Huai had agreed, Han Yishuang immediately stood up from her seat, a gentle smile curving her lips, her eyes full of anticipation for the collaboration. “I’ve known Junior Sister for a long time and have always looked forward to collaborating with her. Now that I have this opportunity, I will do my best to help her.”
The moment her words fell, someone started clapping, and the distinct clap clap clap echoed in the empty classroom.
Qin Huai propped her chin up, her gaze tiredly shifting away from the podium, and she accidentally saw the Alpha standing at the doorway.
The weather was beautiful today, sunny and bright, and everything outside seemed to be overlaid with a golden, shallow shadow. Qin Huai looked through the small glass pane of the door frame. Shen Zhi was wearing a white T-shirt, her slightly curly long hair tied up high. Although she looked full of youthful energy, she was currently hunched over, her eyes cast down to the ground, looking as helpless as a child.
It wasn’t until the applause inside stopped that the Alpha straightened her chest and gently pushed open a crack in the door. “Teacher, I’m sorry, I’m late.”
“Come in,” the smile in the advisor’s eyes hadn’t faded, and she looked to be in a very good mood. “Shen Zhi, you’re just in time. For Qin Huai’s experiment, I’ve assigned your Senior Sister Han to it. You should follow her and learn well.”
Qin Huai, sitting in the corner, frowned, preparing to take this opportunity to suggest having someone else mentor Shen Zhi. However, the girl standing at the door spoke up first.
She lowered her neck, her beautiful eyes cast down mid-air, not daring to look anywhere. Her long, pale, slender fingers clutched at her clothes, and her face was pale and helpless. “I’m so slow; I’m worried I’ll hold up the progress of both Senior Sisters.”
“No, you won’t,” the advisor denied. “This experiment is primarily their concern. You just need to follow them and do your part as best as you can; don’t worry about anything else.”
“But I…” Shen Zhi looked hesitant.
“No ‘buts’,” the advisor said, looking toward Qin Huai. “Qin Huai, mentor your Junior Sister well.”
With the advisor having explicitly stated this, Qin Huai couldn’t refuse without seeming rude. She stood up, nodded, and said flatly, “I understand.”
After the meeting ended, everyone left the classroom. Han Yishuang was unfamiliar with the experiment’s progress, so she invited Qin Huai to a quick chat at the school’s coffee shop. Shen Zhi was sitting nearby, and after Qin Huai agreed, Han Yishuang shifted her gaze to Shen Zhi. “Would you like to come?”
Shen Zhi looked at Qin Huai beside her. The Omega was sitting by the window, putting her tablet into her bag. The sunlight slanted in through the glass, making her earlobe look snowy white. Shen Zhi was silent for two seconds and finally nodded.
The school’s coffee shop was on the second floor of the entrepreneurship building and was divided into two areas. The interior was quiet and comfortably furnished, convenient for students to study. The exterior area was a bit more casual, with sun umbrellas and lounge chairs, convenient for people who wanted to chat.
The three of them chose a table outside. Qin Huai took out her tablet from her bag. Han Yishuang picked up her phone and said, “I’ll go buy coffee. Huai Huai, what kind would you like?”
“No need,” Qin Huai said, lighting up her tablet and turning to Han Yishuang. “Just a glass of water is fine.”
As Han Yishuang prepared to stand up, her shoulder was stopped by Shen Zhi next to her. This corner spot wasn’t a double seat but one with individual white plastic chairs. Shen Zhi was sitting next to Qin Huai, and as she stood up, a black shadow fell across the table.
The screen on Qin Huai’s tablet dimmed for a moment, and she looked down, waiting for it to brighten again.
“Senior Sister Han, you and Senior Sister can chat first. I’ll go buy the coffee,” Shen Zhi said, standing up from her seat.
Han Yishuang accepted without hesitation. “Then I’ll trouble you, Junior Sister. I’d like an Iced Americano.”
Shen Zhi nodded, picked up her phone from the table, and walked away.
After she left, the tablet’s brightness returned. Qin Huai took out a notebook and a pen from her bag. She used this notebook to record the experiment process every day, so it was quite thick. She was about to use this time to explain the experiment’s progress to Han Yishuang but was interrupted by the other’s digression.
“What’s wrong with her today?” Han Yishuang sounded a bit surprised. “She’s so obedient.”
In the past, she had discussed problems with Qin Huai in the lab, and as long as she was nearby, Shen Zhi would initially busy herself with her own tasks. But once the time exceeded half an hour, she would cling to Qin Huai like a tail, afraid Qin Huai would be lost inadvertently.
Unlike today, where she actually allowed her and Qin Huai to be alone together.
Han Yishuang made a clicking sound and teased, “Junior Sister, did she make you angry?”
Qin Huai pressed her arm against the notebook, the pen tip vaguely drawing lines on it. “No.”
“I heard about your situation. She’s just playing pitiful now. An Alpha understands Alphas best. Young ones like her fall in love with whomever they see. She likes you now, but maybe tomorrow she’ll like someone else. But you’re different; you’re an Omega who can only be permanently marked once. If you date her and she happens to deceive you, the subsequent removal of the mark could cause great damage to your body,” Han Yishuang rattled on.
Qin Huai was patient enough to listen at first, but she completely lost interest later on. Although Shen Zhi sometimes acted childish, she was very cautious about certain things and would not easily cross the line. She knew how important a permanent mark was to an Omega and would never mark one unless she was certain.
Qin Huai already possessed a face that naturally kept people at a distance. Now, she put down her pen, her eyelids lifting lightly, and she threw the pen onto the table with clear impatience.
The pen tip hit the table, making a ‘pa’ sound.
Qin Huai crossed her arms and asked her, “Senior Sister, are you finished?”
The smile on Han Yishuang’s lips gradually stiffened.
Qin Huai rested one arm on the armrest of the chair and adjusted her posture. “I told you last time not to speak ill of Shen Zhi in front of me. None of that has any effect on me. No one knows what kind of Alpha she is better than I do. I don’t need you to specifically teach me.”
