The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 45
When Qin Huai woke up, her head felt heavy and spinning. The weather outside showed no trace of last night’s gloom; the pervasive sunlight swept into the entire room, like an invisible, giant hand gathering everything into its palm. The sweet orange scent of pheromones and the sandalwood scent interlocked perfectly, clinging tightly to one another.
She sat up in bed and subconsciously rubbed her head. The memories of last night surged forward like a tide.
After returning from the cemetery last night, Qin Huai had originally intended to go straight back to her dorm. She happened to run into Shen Zhi at the school gate, and then she followed Shen Zhi home.
It wasn’t a big deal, initially.
But the problem was that last night, she had actually lost her composure in front of an alpha who was younger than her.
Qin Huai curled up her legs and used the wrist-up position of her hand to tap her still groggy head. Soft, warm-white light projected onto her from the window. The omega’s somewhat slender back trembled slightly in the air, and her distinct shoulder blades moved with her breathing.
Qin Huai’s way of dealing with people and the world had always been simple and direct ignore those she didn’t like, disregard things she didn’t like. A person with a cold heart and a cold nature who was used to being detached was certainly inexperienced in such sticky, hard to handle situations. Qin Huai was also not one to procrastinate. She lifted the blanket off her body, ready to sit up and explain the matter clearly to Shen Zhi.
She spent ten minutes in the bedroom organizing her thoughts and silently rehearsing them two or three times. After clarifying the basic logic, she rushed out without even bothering to put on her shoes.
Unlike the cluttered, trace filled space of the bedroom, the living room was tidied up by its owner very cleanly. The glass on the coffee table was spotless, a box of tissues was placed conspicuously in the center of the table, the sofa was free of any clutter, and the two throw pillows were each placed in their proper positions. The entire space appeared especially stark and clean.
There wasn’t even a hint of someone living there.
Qin Huai frowned, her eyes scanning the kitchen with a hint of thought. Then she narrowed her eyes, as if confirming something, and strode over, pushing open the kitchen door.
There was no one there.
Qin Huai was momentarily unable to react. She took a small step back, her fringe falling from her ear. She looked up, suddenly let out a small chuckle, then rushed back to the bedroom, changed into her own clothes, and left without looking back.
The roads outside had been baked by the sun until they were halfway between dry and damp. Qin Huai chose the clean spots as she walked towards the community entrance. The Qingming Festival break was not yet over, but people were already gradually returning to school. After Qin Huai returned to her dorm, she turned off her phone and tossed it into a drawer, took some change and her laptop, and went to the library.
When Shen Zhi came in from outside, carrying breakfast, the joy in her eyes was almost overflowing. She placed the congee she had bought on the coffee table, turned to the kitchen to get bowls and chopsticks, and then went to the bedroom. She deliberately slowed her steps and, as she pushed open the bedroom door, she knocked on the door panel for show. Hearing no movement, she curved her lips into a smile and then slowly pushed the door open.
The door opened. The bedroom was still in the same state as when she left. The pheromones of the two scents lingered in the room, the sheets and duvet were a mess, and the pillow was slightly indented, clearly indicating that the person who had been lying on the bed had just gotten up.
The alpha’s smile deepened. She thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of being alone with Qin Huai in the same room. The feeling was wonderful, as if they truly had a sense of home, waking up to each other every day.
She leaned an elbow on the door frame, her gaze darting to the bathroom. “Senior, I bought food. Remember to eat when you finish washing up.”
The bathroom was outside the bedroom. The soft, quiet orange-yellow light reflected the patterns on the frosted glass, making them much softer. The sound of the exhaust fan was very faint from outside.
Shen Zhi waited for a while but did not hear a response from inside. She narrowed her eyes, her gaze quickly sweeping over the position of the shelf by the door. Some details that had been ignored just now slowly replayed in her mind Qin Huai’s shoes had already vanished, and the slippers she had specially bought for the other person were carelessly tossed by the door.
Shen Zhi struggled for three seconds, a slow-motion realization dawning on her.
What did Qin Huai take her for?
A shelter? Or an emotional trash can?
Last night, she was hugging her and refusing to let go, yet this morning, after she woke up, she changed her clothes and ran off.
Shen Zhi chuckled, licked her lips, and then picked up her phone to call the heartless omega.
The “beep, beep” of the phone connection sounded one after another, and the frustration building up in Shen Zhi’s chest slowly dissipated, replaced by a different emotion.
Qin Huai hadn’t answered the phone for so long, could something have happened?
A few days ago, Hao Yan had tied up Qin Huai in the lab, and the person had gone missing after the incident. Now, no one knew if she was alive or dead.
This thought was immediately dismissed. Generally, Qin Huai answered calls very quickly, unless her phone was locked away in the lab.
No one answered the phone after a long wait. Shen Zhi had no choice but to call the counselor, and after a roundabout inquiry, she obtained the phone number of Qin Huai’s roommate. The response she received was that Qin Huai was studying in the library and did not have her phone with her.
Only then did Shen Zhi breathe a sigh of relief. She then picked up her phone and walked toward the door, not forgetting to grab two steamed buns, fearing that Qin Huai had left early without eating and would be hungry.
It was common for Qin Huai to forget to eat once she became immersed in something. This was because the feeling of hunger was strange; once the peak of the hunger passed, you no longer felt it.
It wasn’t until the library closed that Qin Huai had only hastily gnawed a few biscuits and drunk a glass of water before emerging from the library with her laptop bag.
The weather in April was slowly transitioning to a longer day and shorter night. The deep blue sky was heavy, and a crescent moon hung in the horizon, looking especially comfortable.
Qin Huai walked down a few steps of the stairs when a slightly panicked female voice sounded from behind her.
“Senior, wait a moment.”
Qin Huai stopped and looked around. There was no one on the long stone steps. Thus, confirming that the person was calling her, she turned and paused where she was.
The girl who called Qin Huai to stop was a slightly naive-looking alpha, carrying a backpack. Seeing Qin Huai stop, she jogged over. The shoulder strap of her backpack slipped down her arm, but she was completely unconcerned. Instead, she let out a small laugh, her breathing slightly uneven, and got straight to the point: “Senior, I’ve been watching you in the library for a long time.”
Qin Huai understood immediately and basically knew what would happen next.
Sure enough, the alpha lowered her eyes, her cheeks stained with a suspicious blush. As if finally making up her mind, she said, “Senior, can you give me your contact information?”
She added immediately, as if afraid Qin Huai would refuse, “Senior, please don’t worry, I won’t bother you often.”
The alpha’s expression grew more anxious with every second Qin Huai remained silent, until finally, when Qin Huai furrowed her brows, the alpha’s expression looked like she was about to cry.
Qin Huai’s biggest flaw was her tough exterior and soft heart. Her cold face could deter countless alphas, but she couldn’t handle someone playing the victim.
She had formulated a countermeasure and was just about to pull out her phone from her pocket when a familiar female voice suddenly spoke.
“She already has an alpha.”
