The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 22
The running events were all scheduled for the afternoon. Long distance running, compared to sprints, lacked that tense, exciting, heart pounding feeling, so half the number of omegas who had been watching the relay race had left the track.
After the incident at noon, Lin Qiu did not come to the track in the afternoon. Only Qin Huai was left under the sun umbrella propped up at the edge. She sat behind the table, leaning back against the edge, eyes closed, headphones plugged in, enjoying the peace and quiet.
This was the scene Shen Zhi saw when she arrived.
The sunlight in March was not strong. The omega wore a white baseball cap and a grey tracksuit. The metal zipper was pulled down to just below the collarbone. It seemed she was wearing an inner top with a wide neckline underneath, making the exposed section of the collarbone even clearer than the face under the brim of the cap.
The alpha’s lips slowly curled up, and a playful, mischievous smile flashed in her eyes. She lowered her footsteps, walked over, and stood bent over beside Qin Huai, then reached out and hooked the white earphone cord.
The earphone slipped out.
The omega opened her eyes and glanced over, her gaze a little hazy from the rest. She pursed her thin lips and looked quietly at Shen Zhi, trying to intimidate the other person with her eyes.
But it was useless.
Because she had no idea that in the alpha’s eyes, she looked absolutely adorable, like a little hamster with chubby cheeks nibbling on something.
Shen Zhi remained unfazed, squatting by Qin Huai’s shins, the earphone cord loosely wrapped around her index finger as she played with the earphone. Her strength was controlled perfectly, so she wouldn’t accidentally pull the other one out of Qin Huai’s ear.
She raised her eyes and asked pitifully, “Qin Huai, won’t you keep me company?”
“Call me ‘Xuejie’ (senior sister),” Qin Huai averted her gaze, attempting to correct her.
The title ‘Xuejie’ carried a sense of respect, establishing a clear boundary, whereas a name was a form of address used between peers or strangers. It seemed a little inappropriate for Shen Zhi, who was younger than Qin Huai, to call her by name.
Shen Zhi seemed not to have heard the suggestion. She gently tugged at the earphone cord in her hand, hoping to get the omega’s attention through this action.
The song in her ear kept cutting in and out, like a skipping record, exhausting the last bit of Qin Huai’s patience. She used her toe to kick the alpha’s knee and coldly spat out two words, “No need.”
The white sports shoes were spotless, not a speck of dust on them. The sock cuff rested against her ankle, slightly protruding, exuding a clean kind of sexiness. Shen Zhi had changed into a short-sleeved shirt and shorts for the afternoon run. The shorts were above her knees, revealing a large area of skin.
The omega’s shoe tip brushed against it and was then withdrawn.
Shen Zhi licked her lips, still wanting more. Unable to suppress her inner restlessness, she probed, “Qin Huai, you have to take responsibility for me.”
“Take responsibility for what?” Qin Huai asked, her left leg crossed over her right, puzzled.
“Now the whole school knows you slept with me,” Shen Zhi said matter-of-factly. “It’s not too much for me to ask you to run with me, is it?”
Qin Huai was utterly shocked by Shen Zhi’s habit of spouting nonsense. “When did I sleep with you?”
“Others might not know, but don’t you know?” Shen Zhi expressed contempt for this hit-and-run behavior. “Twice, during your heat, at a hotel.”
Mentioning this, Qin Huai finally understood what the alpha meant by ‘slept with’. The last two times she had run out during her heat, she had clung to Shen Zhi, and each time she woke up, she was in a hotel, slightly disheveled. It was enough to shock anyone who saw it.
However, this also reminded Qin Huai that she had woken up both times in the hotel bed completely unharmed, as the alpha beside her had not acted impulsively during her heat.
“Twice, you say?” Qin Huai lowered her eyelashes, her gaze having the condescension of a person in a superior position, and the nonchalance that indicated her good mood. “Shen Zhi, are you impotent?”
Shen Zhi: “!”
“If you can’t, don’t force it,” Qin Huai leaned down, bending over to meet the alpha’s eyes. Then her gaze dropped to the earphone cord wrapped around Shen Zhi’s hand, and she effortlessly regained control.
“Will all students participating in the long-distance run please assemble at the track to prepare for the start of the race.”
The loudspeaker hanging on the wall of the grandstand in the distance blared inappropriately, the sound interspersed with faint static.
Qin Huai looked at Shen Zhi, who was still recovering, worried she might have scared her silly. She tapped the alpha’s well-proportioned shoulder with her index finger and said, “It’s time for your race.”
The omega’s voice was consistently cool and devoid of any color, a kind of empty white, but at this moment, it sounded like temptation in Shen Zhi’s ears.
The alpha’s inherent desire for conquest was stirring in her bones. Shen Zhi watched that finger tap her shoulder and prepare to withdraw.
She couldn’t just let it go. If it was only a lukewarm, non-aggressive attempt, it would only result in Qin Huai playing coy.
And that coy attitude was not meant for her.
The moment the signal registered in her head, Shen Zhi eagerly made her move. The omega’s slender wrist was firmly held in her hand. The alpha’s voice lost its softness, carrying a deep sense of oppression, and a hint of her sandalwood pheromone inadvertently spread out.
“Say that again,” the alpha stared intensely into Qin Huai’s eyes, afraid she might try to escape.
Qin Huai had no reaction to the alpha’s pheromone and was unaware that Shen Zhi was releasing hers.
The sandalwood scent was like a drop of ink in water, instantly diffusing and slowly spreading.
Qin Huai’s body inevitably picked up the cool scent, but she didn’t know it.
The atmosphere was like a sparkler about to burn out. The person holding it was so absorbed in the beauty that they didn’t let go, and the flame followed the slender stick, getting lower and lower.
The broadcast sound in the distance rang out again, repeating itself twice, sounding a little urgent.
Qin Huai came back to her senses and struggled with her wrist. “You should go race now.”
The alpha not only did not let go but used the leverage of the struggle to stand up. This time, it was her who stood in the superior position and said, “Huaihuai, some things should not be said carelessly.”
“I’m going.” With those words, Shen Zhi let go and left.
Qin Huai sat on the stool, watching the alpha’s tall figure walk further and further away, her mind replaying the moment Shen Zhi called her name.
Huaihuai.
To encourage student participation and fun in the sports meet, the student council had found a few broadcasting students to sit on the grandstand and read out anonymous notes submitted by others. This was probably the only part that was the same as high school sports days.
The beautiful female voice and the deep male voice served as background noise, accompanying the sharp whistle that kicked off the long distance run.
Most of the alphas who signed up for the 3,000 meter run were from the physical education department, with only a few pulled in last minute to make up the numbers. Qin Huai had already seen many strongly built alphas pass by her.
Everyone knew the secret to long distance running: maintain an even pace, and then accelerate on the last lap when everyone else was tired. Even if it didn’t win first place, the ranking wouldn’t be too low.
But the problem was that most of these people were P.E. students; running 3,000 meters was as normal as eating for them. This might not even meet their usual exercise routine.
Qin Huai sat in the corner, watching the familiar figure on the track keeping a steady pace in the middle. The hand hanging by her side tightened its grip on her clothes.
The sound of passionate reading from afar started, the content being some embarrassing, innocent love confessions.
And the recipient of the notes was the person Qin Huai had been staring at.
[Dear Shen Zhi, from the first moment I saw you, I have been deeply in love with you. The sight of your abs when you run in your sportswear simply makes me utterly captivated. I am willing to become the thin layer of sweat that slides off your muscles, kissing every piece of your skin.]
How sappy.
Qin Huai released the clothes in her hand, bent down, picked up a bottle of drink from the ground, and took a large sip.
Qin Huai knew a little about Shen Zhi’s popularity as a campus celebrity, but she realized today that she only knew the tip of the iceberg. The reading section in other events only occasionally had a sentence or two, often improvised by the reader from online sources. Only Shen Zhi’s notes were heartfelt, word for word.
Qin Huai had already listened to three in a row. The last one was written in the form of a love letter, full of sappy words, so much so that the reader even stumbled over the words.
There was only a thousand meters left in the 3,000 meter run. Qin Huai’s expression turned grim as she watched the alpha gradually speed up.
After the male host on the broadcast finished reading, a jarring buzzing sound rang out, like a summer thunderstorm.
Qin Huai looked over the long distance and vaguely saw a person standing in front of the grandstand. She thought it was a shift change, as no one could read continuously without rest, so she didn’t pay much attention and turned back to watch the track.
The static on the broadcast quickly disappeared, followed by the reader testing the microphone a couple of times.
Wireless radio tends to strip the voice of its original texture, so Qin Huai only found the sound familiar and didn’t give it much thought.
Shen Zhi’s speed had increased. Her bangs were lifted by the wind, and her clothes ballooned out. The alpha had a well-proportioned figure. The muscles on her exposed calves were just right, conveying a perfect sense of power. The front of her top clung tightly to her chest, and the contours of her abdominal muscles were clearly visible.
The alpha, swift as the wind, galloped on the track, her smile confident and her eyes bright.
It would have been very appealing with a background reading, but the notes suddenly stopped.
The next second, the voice of the broadcast reader officially started.
“Hello, students. I am Lin Qiu. Yes, the Lin Qiu whose omega slept with another alpha and dumped him. In the years I was with Qin Huai, she never even let me touch her hand, but she slept with another alpha. As an alpha, I could only choose to forgive, but what truly made me decide to expose this was that my omega not only got together with someone else but even had her lover alpha beat me.”
Thud. Qin Huai stood up from her chair and rushed towards the grandstand without a second thought.
Lin Qiu continued.
“This alpha is utterly despicable. Playing tricks to make me confess to her, but in reality, she had already set her sights on my omega, hadn’t she? Who put that video online? Who was it that clung to my omega when we were having trouble in our relationship?”
“It’s you, Shen Zhi.”
