The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 18
When the Eternal Building was originally constructed, a section was specifically left for ease of renovation. Consequently, there were two doors leading to the balcony: one to a small room used to store club supplies, where Qin Huai and Shen Zhi were currently standing, and the other to the new club office, which was directly across from the old one, with a glass bridge connecting the two.
Qin Huai rarely came here after the building was refurbished. This place used to be very quiet. Standing on the roof, listening to the wind from all directions, she felt that the burdens weighing on her heart were relieved. This key was a spare key that Liu Nian had specially made when she was in the Student Union, to prevent losing the original.
However, after Liu Nian quit the Student Union, she forgot to return the key, and it remained idle in her possession. Qin Huai liked to place the key on the top of the door frame, a spot that few people noticed.
No, it should be said that absolutely no one noticed, because it was only after the building was renovated that more people started coming here; normally, it only saw some activity when the Student Union was organizing events.
So how did Shen Zhi know the key was in that spot?
Qin Huai couldn’t help but frown and look at the Alpha gradually approaching her. It wasn’t until Shen Zhi was close that she asked, “How did you know there was a key here?”
“This, you mean?” Shen Zhi lifted the hand holding the key, her eyebrows relaxed, and her eyes held a smile. “I often came to Jiangcheng University to play when I was in high school, and this was my favorite spot.”
Shen Zhi is a freshman this year, so one year ago, she was in her final year of high school. Jiangcheng University ranks high nationally, and most local students wouldn’t travel far to study elsewhere. Qin Huai, as a local, felt this deeply. Therefore, countless high school students would come to the university to wander around and check it out every year when applying for colleges.
But this place?
Qin Huai had her back to the light and faced Shen Zhi, her dark eyes showing no discernible emotion.
“Is something wrong?” Shen Zhi asked.
Qin Huai blinked subtly, hiding the complex emotion in her eyes. “Nothing.”
“Is it truly nothing, or are you just unwilling to say?” Shen Zhi asked bluntly.
The moment the words left her mouth, Qin Huai looked up at the white, outer perimeter of the rain.
Shen Zhi lowered her head slightly, pursing her lips. The corners of her eyes were slightly droopy, and her back was slightly hunched, like a large, wronged dog. “I only asked because I saw that you, my xuejie, were in a bad mood. If you don’t want to say, then forget it. I’ll listen to you.”
This pathetic tone made even Qin Huai laugh and cry a little, and for the first time in her life, she had the urge to comfort someone.
Shen Zhi’s bent back brought her exactly level with Qin Huai’s gaze, and she lowered her eyes to look at the ground. Qin Huai tilted her head to observe her and softened her voice, “Will you really listen to me?”
The Alpha “Mm”-ed and nodded twice.
“Then I won’t tell you, will you cry?” Qin Huai teased.
She originally thought that after saying this, the Alpha would either become angry out of embarrassment or pester her relentlessly for an answer.
But neither happened.
Shen Zhi simply raised her eyes, and a slight smile curved her lips, without the shallow dimples appearing. “I’m not a crybaby.”
“Hmm, you’re not a crybaby,” Qin Huai nodded. “Then, Crybaby, do you still want to hear it?”
The Alpha’s previously veiled eyes immediately brightened, looking at Qin Huai with surprise.
Qin Huai turned around, looked at the drizzling rain in front of them, and said softly, “Actually, there’s nothing much to tell. This is where I agreed to be with Lin Qiu.”
“That day, the rain was just as sudden and heavy as today. I came here to clear my head because a piece of experimental data was wrong. I had locked this door tightly from the outside, and Lin Qiu just sat leaning against the door, talking to me over and over again.”
Qin Huai’s voice, when steady, was like plain water; any added emotion was uniformly colorless.
She faced the balcony, looking outside. The sound of rain filtered into the pauses in her words, adding a slight impurity. “I just… didn’t quite expect it.”
“Was it really about the experimental data?” Shen Zhi asked after Qin Huai finished speaking.
Qin Huai turned around quickly. The small door, less than one and a half meters high, briefly regained its brightness, then returned to a deep gloom. In this gloom, Qin Huai asked, “What do you mean?”
Shen Zhi smiled silently and changed the subject. “Xuejie, if you don’t have class on Monday, will you go out with me?”
This was what Qin Huai had agreed to on Friday. Qin Huai had a natural trust in her, so she nodded and agreed, then turned to look at the rain drifting outside with Shen Zhi.
By Monday, the sun had risen, and the damp ground had become dry again.
Qin Huai casually put on a hoodie and jeans, wore a baseball cap, and headed out.
Shen Zhi was already waiting downstairs at the Omega dorm. When Qin Huai descended the stairs, she immediately saw the Alpha with her back to her: a black hoodie with a loose hem, the sleeves rolled up just enough to reveal two lean, smooth forearms with graceful, fluid lines.
Perhaps hearing footsteps, Shen Zhi happened to turn around and waved at Qin Huai.
Qin Huai quickened her pace and walked out. She glanced at her own hoodie, then at Shen Zhi’s, and for some reason, the words Liu Nian had said that day came back to her: Why would an Alpha tell an Omega her dating history?
What other reason could there be?
They must want to be sisters!
Otherwise, why would they be dressed so neatly, her in white, and Shen Zhi in black?
Shen Zhi only saw Qin Huai’s cool and composed expression and thought she was unhappy about going out, so she immediately tried to reassure her, “Don’t worry, I’ve already done my research and planned the route. Following me won’t be a mistake.”
Qin Huai looked at the Alpha in front of her with half-belief, her eyes showing a lack of conviction.
So, an hour later, the two stood in front of the city’s best private hospital.
Qin Huai looked at the sign hanging on the hospital roof, then at Shen Zhi beside her, repeating this three or four times. She pointed at the hospital and said, “Don’t tell me your ‘plan’ was for the hospital?”
Shen Zhi seemed completely unaware that anything was amiss. She nodded, then turned back to see the Omega beside her smiling very forcedly at her.
No, it shouldn’t be looking.
It should be glaring.
At the same time, Qin Huai raised her hand, her palm empty, trying to grasp something. Shen Zhi internally assumed this meant she wanted to hold something, and quickly offered her wrist.
The next second, her wrist felt like it was pressed down by a thousand-pound iron weight, and her forearm seemed to lose its ability to move.
Shen Zhi’s face was flushed red, struggling to maintain a smile, her dimples looking surprisingly conspicuous at that moment. “Xuejie, don’t be afraid to seek medical help.”
Shen Zhi always had a strange power that could make Qin Huai, who usually remained calm even when a mountain collapsed in front of her, lose her usual composure and act like a child in a playful fight. The Omega’s hand gradually exerted more and more force, and she restrained herself with a thousand efforts from blurting out an obscenity, only gritting her teeth and hatefully explaining, “I’m not sick.”
