The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 19
This private hospital is the best in Jiangcheng for treating Omega scent gland issues. Although expensive, many people still come for treatment.
Shen Zhi held Qin Huai’s wrist all the way until they got on the elevator and was sure she wouldn’t run away before letting go. “Senior, Professor Zhou Yue at this hospital is quite good. Just make do with her for now.”
Qin Huai’s brows had been furrowed and hadn’t relaxed. She held the wrist that the Alpha had just pulled, standing in the corner of the elevator, not bothering to talk.
Even nationwide, this private hospital ranked highly, especially Professor Zhou Yue, whose appointments were hard to get. Every day she was in the clinic to see patients, there was always a long queue at the entrance.
The difficulty in getting her number wasn’t due to financial or personal connections, but because she was fair and just in her work. Anyone who queued up for an appointment, even a beggar, would be treated.
Qin Huai had heard of Zhou Yue’s name when choosing her major and had tried to book an appointment, but every time she opened the hospital’s app, the number slot would be blacked out. After a long time, she gave up.
But hearing Shen Zhi say it like this, it sounded as if Professor Zhou Yue’s appointment was so easy to get that you could get it just by having hands.
Qin Huai rubbed her wrist, her face blank for a few seconds as she asked, “Did you get the wrong person?”
Shen Zhi: “This hospital only has one Professor Zhou Yue. It’s impossible for them to have the same name.”
Qin Huai simply acknowledged it and turned her gaze away, her tone light and perfunctory.
Shen Zhi: “…”
Ding A sound.
The elevator doors slowly opened.
The private hospital’s environment was no worse than a public hospital’s. Walking past the department entrance, the doors of unoccupied patient rooms were tightly closed. Only one or two were open, and they were all quiet.
The doctors’ office was opposite the patient rooms and required a card swipe to enter.
Shen Zhi stopped at the door and glanced inside through the window.
Qin Huai stood half a meter behind the Alpha, watching Shen Zhi pull out her phone from her pocket. “I’m here.”
The quiet atmosphere of the patient floor was broken, leaving only Shen Zhi’s slightly serious voice. She held the phone to her ear and didn’t even need to introduce herself, immediately stating her purpose directly.
Qin Huai, who had thought Shen Zhi was joking, finally took the matter seriously.
When the Alpha hung up the phone, Qin Huai found her voice and asked, “Are you serious?”
Shen Zhi put away her phone and glanced back. “Did you think I was lying?”
Just then, a ding sound, and the door was opened from the inside.
Qin Huai and Shen Zhi simultaneously looked over at the sound.
The woman standing inside was wearing a white shirt and black trousers covered by a white lab coat. The entire outfit looked professional, even somewhat rigid, but her face was not. Her almond eyes were slightly curved, her facial contours soft, and her gaze was very friendly when looking at Shen Zhi at the door. Her first impression was that of a very gentle Omega.
This face overlapped with the face in Qin Huai’s memory, quickly merging into two words. Qin Huai couldn’t help but reach out and grab the Alpha’s forearm beside her to prevent herself from losing composure.
It was Zhou Yue.
The most authoritative expert in Jiangcheng, an Omega who had made a name for herself purely through her own abilities.
Qin Huai couldn’t describe her current mood, only feeling a blank slate in her mind, not knowing what to say when the words reached her lips.
Zhou Yue tucked both hands into her pockets. At over forty, her face had shallow fine lines. These weren’t a burden but a different kind of soft armor.
Her gaze lingered on Shen Zhi for a moment, then naturally shifted to the person behind Shen Zhi. Staring at Qin Huai without blinking, she said to Shen Zhi, “Aren’t you going to introduce this lovely Omega?”
Through the soft fabric of the hoodie, Shen Zhi felt her forearm being squeezed tightly by a force. She looked sideways at the Omega next to her, who showed a more vivid expression than during her heat cycle. Although nothing showed on her face, her eyes were bright and filled with surprise.
She enjoyed it when Qin Huai subconsciously depended on her.
So the Alpha stretched out her other hand, took Qin Huai’s wrist from her forearm, releasing the tension in the gathered sleeve. Then Shen Zhi gently guided Qin Huai’s hand into her own palm, introducing her as if holding a child’s hand, “Mom, this is Qin Huai, my friend.”
After speaking, her gaze returned to Qin Huai, and she squeezed the Omega’s palm to signal her to come back to reality. “Qin Huai, this is my mother, Zhou Yue.”
Qin Huai’s ears only echoed the words “mother” and “Zhou Yue.” She prepared to extend her right hand, but her palm was constrained. She could only subconsciously offer her left hand. “Professor Zhou Yue, hello. I am Qin Huai.”
Calling Zhou Yue “Professor” wasn’t just being polite, but because in Qin Huai’s mind, the impact Zhou Yue had on her was far greater than all her other teachers.
More than twenty years ago, inhibitors were expensive. Some Omegas, due to financial reasons, could not afford them and had to endure the pain of their heat cycles.
It was at this time that Zhou Yue and her team dedicated themselves to research and created the first batch of affordable inhibitors in the country, allowing countless Omegas to safely pass through their heat. Since then, the name Zhou Yue has been almost universally known.
Zhou Yue was observant and quickly noticed her daughter deliberately gripping the Omega’s hand with a candid and self-satisfied attitude. Her eyebrow arched slightly.
Zhou Yue didn’t expose them and cooperated with Qin Huai, extending her hand. “Hello. May I call you Huai Huai?”
It wasn’t until the handshake that Qin Huai realized something was amiss, turning her head to see her hand being squeezed by the Alpha.
She frowned and quietly withdrew her hand, saying to Zhou Yue, “Yes, you may.”
“I’ve read your thesis. It’s beautifully written,” Zhou Yue praised without reservation, her tone full of appreciation.
Hearing that Zhou Yue had actually read her thesis, Qin Huai was slightly surprised. “No, it’s very poorly written.”
Qin Huai’s humble and unassuming attitude was very endearing. Zhou Yue had a habit of subscribing to magazines and often flipped through them when bored. What she said to Qin Huai was not merely polite.
She had heard for a long time that her daughter had someone in her heart, and seeing the little Omega in person made her even more fond. Just as she was about to speak, she was interrupted by the oblivious Shen Zhi.
The Alpha’s eyebrows slightly lifted, her thin eyelids raising, her eyes showing a hint of impatience. “Don’t stand here talking. Say what you need to say inside.”
“This child,” Zhou Yue said, patting Shen Zhi’s shoulder. The force wasn’t strong, but it clearly showed affection.
The Omega Scent Gland Treatment department had a total of three doctors, all Omegas. One was in the clinic today, and one was in surgery. The large office looked empty.
Zhou Yue’s desk was in the corner near the air conditioner, cluttered with various medical folders. The computer screen was off, and the black swivel chair was slightly sunken from prolonged sitting.
She pulled out her chair and pressed a finger on the keyboard. The screen lit up, displaying a group photo of four people. She reverted to her working state, becoming the rigorous doctor again. “Huai Huai, Shen Zhi didn’t clearly describe your condition. Could you briefly explain it?”
There was a stool in front of the doctor’s desk for communicating with patients. Qin Huai sat down, heard Zhou Yue’s words, and pursed her lips, looking somewhat hesitant.
Zhou Yue understood this and shifted her gaze to Shen Zhi, giving a command. “It’s been a while since I had bubble tea. Go buy a few cups and bring them up.”
Shen Zhi looked down at Qin Huai. The Omega didn’t show any sign that she needed her to stay. She simply replied, “Okay,” and turned to leave.
After Shen Zhi left, she thoughtfully closed the door, followed by the sound of increasingly faint footsteps, and the door clicked shut.
Zhou Yue focused her eyes on Qin Huai. “Right now, I am the doctor, and you are the patient. I will protect your privacy. Please tell me whatever issues you have.”
Sending Shen Zhi away wasn’t just for the patient’s privacy regarding the illness, but because some things involved the Alpha, making it necessary to do so.
In the cold office, Qin Huai lightly blinked, her slender eyelashes fluttering for a moment, her eyes calm and unwavering. “Doctor Zhou, I’ll begin now.”
Zhou Yue made a gesture, signaling the Omega in front of her to continue.
The thick walls enhanced the soundproofing, and the sparse patients reduced the signs of life. Throughout the conversation, Qin Huai’s voice was very clear, like a gentle sound suddenly appearing in a quiet night, calm and self-possessed.
During the discussion, Zhou Yue would interrupt her to ask a few questions, then signal her to continue. When she heard about the “heat cycle amnesia,” Zhou Yue’s expression froze and didn’t recover until the end.
“Doctor Zhou, that’s about it.” From speaking for a long time, Qin Huai’s voice lost some of its coolness and became a bit hoarse.
Zhou Yue, however, seemed not to have heard the conclusion. Her eyes were fixed on Qin Huai’s features, her expression candid and direct.
“Doctor Zhou,” Qin Huai called Zhou Yue’s name again.
Zhou Yue seemed to suddenly snap back, the mockery in her eyes fleeting. She apologized to Qin Huai and explained, “You look a lot like a colleague of mine who researched inhibitors with me, but she has passed away.”
“That’s a real shame,” Qin Huai had a natural admiration for people who dared to defy nature, her tone unusually sympathetic.
“If she were still alive, the name known nationwide would definitely be hers,” Zhou Yue candidly admitted her shortcomings, then changed the subject back to work. “Huai Huai, what was your question just now?”
“I want to know if, so far, ‘heat cycle amnesia’ is the only case nationwide?” Qin Huai asked.
She had visited many hospitals, and most responses were that the disease was uncommon but not rare. However, Qin Huai had searched through all available data and hadn’t found the disease. With no prior treatment examples and no references, the possibility of recovery was also much lower.
Qin Huai didn’t dislike the heat cycle, as it was a normal physiological issue, but she disliked the irrational self during the heat. The feeling of a tight string suddenly loosening made her feel very insecure and unpredictable.
She asked the question completely out of subconscious reaction, instinct, and muscle memory, without thinking. But after asking, she secretly held a glimmer of hope.
It was like a cancer patient with only two years to live still holding onto a slight chance of survival.
In the few seconds while waiting for the answer, Qin Huai’s muscles were tightly coiled, the tension like a drawn bow.
“No,” Zhou Yue finally spoke, her tone deep and inscrutable. “I once saw a case.”
