- The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me
- Chapter 17 - Revised
The sports field was about a five minute walk from the omega dormitory. Qin Huai, holding a clear long-handled umbrella, walked toward the field, enduring the surprised looks of countless omegas returning to their dorms.
The temperature in Jiangcheng was generally higher than in other places. After the rainy season ended at the beginning of the school year, many beauty-conscious omegas shed their heavy cotton clothes. Even though the weather had been unpredictable lately, they weren’t planning on putting on warmer clothes and preferred to gather in clusters.
For instance, the sports field.
Qin Huai stood at the entrance of the field and looked around. On the brick-red synthetic track, beauty conscious omegas jogged slowly, afraid the wind would mess up their hair. Alpha jocks, wearing T-shirts and shorts, took long strides, a stark contrast to the leisurely strolling “pretty-o’s.” On the green grass in the center of the field, four or five people of various genders sat together, chatting and laughing. Her eyes scanned the area but failed to find Shen Zhi. She prepared to take out her phone to send a message.
[Qin Huai: ???]
Perhaps the alpha hadn’t seen the message, as Qin Huai waited for half a minute without receiving a reply. Her hair was somewhat messy from the wind. She scratched her head, muttered “lost her mind” to herself, and was about to leave when her phone vibrated sharply in her palm.
Qin Huai lit up the screen and saw the alpha had only replied with four simple words: Turn around, look up. So mysterious.
Qin Huai put away her phone, frowned, and a hint of confusion flashed in her eyes. She shifted her gaze from the screen, turned around, and looked at the people coming and going on the track.
Dark clouds were like random puzzle pieces filling the sky, making the entire day feel overcast. The glass of the Hengjiu Building beside the field reflected a dim light. The alpha was wearing a black windbreaker and sweatpants. Her usual loose hair was now pulled up high. She looked straight ahead and, upon seeing Qin Huai, raised an arm in a clean, sharp gesture.
Qin Huai watched her approach step by step, her blurry face gradually becoming clearer. The alpha’s dimples were now little swirls on her cheeks, making her look particularly harmless, which caused Qin Huai to lower her guard and ignore the fact that the alpha didn’t stop when she was two meters away, and instead, collided with her openly.
A rush of warmth enveloped her.
Her body involuntarily stumbled back a few steps under the sudden force, and the long-handled umbrella in her hand clattered onto the ground.
Qin Huai was caught in a full embrace. Shen Zhi was holding her, her arms hooked around Qin Huai’s neck, and her warm breath fanned the area just below her earlobe.
“So tired,” Shen Zhi murmured.
The whooshing sound of the wind near her ears gradually faded. Her breathing was like a balloon swelling with air, its thin surface showing beautiful patterns. She wanted to blow it up more but was afraid it would pop, so she could only stand frozen, letting it remain as it was.
Qin Huai, who was lost in thought, pursed her lips. Finally, under the subtle looks of the passing omegas and alphas, she gripped the back of Shen Zhi’s windbreaker and whispered, “Get up first.”
Her voice was as cool as ever, but the tail end trembled slightly, giving the whole tone an unsuitable tenderness.
The Shen Zhi holding the omega couldn’t maintain her composure, her shoulders twitching slightly. Her chin moved from Qin Huai’s shoulder to her collarbone, and after a moment, a bright laugh muffled out.
Qin Huai’s body stiffened as if realizing something. Her eyes darted around, and she coughed twice to dispel her awkwardness, “If you laugh again, get off me.”
The omega’s tone was too fierce, instantly stopping Shen Zhi’s laughter. Then the alpha rested her chin back on Qin Huai’s shoulder, pleading, “Senior, you’re so cute.”
Cute?
Qin Huai found it somewhat amusing. Her usual cold, stern demeanor had scared many omegas, and the word ‘cute’ was both distant and foreign to her, sounding incredibly out of place when applied to her.
This person must be crazy.
Qin Huai grabbed the alpha’s fabric and tugged backward, “Hurry up and get off me.”
The windbreaker’s material was somewhat stiff, and pulling and releasing it easily caused wrinkles. Qin Huai felt even more guilty after letting go.
But this time, Shen Zhi seemed not to notice, and with surprising maturity, took a step back, widening the distance slightly, and quietly said, “Senior, can you stop flirting with me?”
Qin Huai: What the heck???
Shen Zhi glanced around, confirmed no one was looking their way, then leaned closer to the omega’s ear and whispered, “I mean that line about getting off you.”
She pulled away immediately after speaking.
Qin Huai: “???”
She lifted her eyes and gave Shen Zhi a cool look. Her hands, hanging by the seams of her pants, moved unconsciously.
The alpha seemed oblivious to the outrageous comment she had just made, still maintaining a completely unguarded, smiling face. Her figure was naturally tall and well-proportioned. The zipper of her windbreaker was slightly pulled down, revealing half her neck, making her jawline look thin and strong. Both sleeves were rolled high to her elbows, and the strong line of her forearm led down to her hand, which was just pulling up the sliding zipper.
It was then that Qin Huai noticed Shen Zhi’s hand.
Long and evenly jointed, clean, like a sketch drawn by an art student.
But no one would have thought that the person possessing such hands could say something so vulgar.
Qin Huai felt embarrassed, yet Shen Zhi was still smiling with upturned lips. Feeling annoyed, she made a move to grab the alpha. Naturally, Shen Zhi was not a pushover and quickly retreated two steps, her ponytail swaying with the wind.
Qin Huai chased her all the way from the track to the grass in the center of the field. The alpha’s nature was mischievous and loved to tease, and Shen Zhi was still young. The distance between them was like the playful teasing phase before a cat catches a mouse, always just a small step away.
Qin Huai usually spent most of her time in the lab and rarely exercised. Her physical test results each year were just barely passing, thanks to the teacher turning a blind eye. How could she compete with Shen Zhi, who frequented the gym? After only a few steps, she sat down on an empty spot and waved her hand in surrender, “Can’t run anymore.”
“Senior, your stamina is a bit poor,” Shen Zhi said casually as she sat down next to Qin Huai.
Qin Huai was just panting heavily and didn’t speak until a cold drop of rain landed on her forehead. She spread her palm in the air, “It’s raining.”
Rain was bound to happen with the recent weather. Qin Huai pushed herself up with her hands on the grass, looked around, and didn’t see an umbrella. It was then she remembered she had been having too much fun with Shen Zhi and forgot to run with the umbrella.
This was unheard of in her previous life. She was always meticulous about planning all her affairs and adhering strictly to them.
But it seemed that whenever she was with Shen Zhi, all the rules were broken.
Qin Huai found the thought incredible.
The person beside her hadn’t gotten up yet. Qin Huai asked, “Aren’t you leaving?”
The tall alpha was sitting cross legged on the ground. When she tilted her head up, she reminded Qin Huai of a large feline. Now, this feline seemed to have lost the ability to get up and instead stretched out her right hand toward her, “Senior, give me a pull, would you?”
Qin Huai lowered her eyes, her eyelids twitching slightly. Then, as if remembering something, she turned and walked away directly. Shen Zhi’s voice came from behind, and Qin Huai’s lips slowly curled up as she quickened her steps.
The way back to the dorm passed by the Hengjiu Building, a tall structure located at the edge of the field, dedicated to providing space for student clubs. It had just begun renovations this year, but the workload was immense, and only half of it was completed. The lower part still retained the old design.
Qin Huai paused when she reached this point and looked up twice.
Shen Zhi took advantage of this time to catch up. Her breathing was steady, and her right elbow was resting on Qin Huai’s shoulder. She thought the other person was waiting for her and was about to speak when she noticed Qin Huai’s gaze.
That look seemed steeped in a gloomy color.
Shen Zhi lowered her arm, her throat twitching slightly, “Senior, want to go inside and have a look?”
She only asked tentatively, not expecting Qin Huai to agree, “Okay.”
They walked side-by-side into the Hengjiu Building. The glass enhanced the cleanliness of the space, and the entire office area was empty, with only the warm yellow lights faintly hanging down.
After entering the elevator, Shen Zhi directly pressed the top floor and stood silently beside Qin Huai.
The elevator doors slowly closed, followed by the soft upward movement sound.
Qin Huai stood in the corner, staring blankly at the jumping numbers until the display showed the top floor had been reached, and she came back to her senses, “We don’t seem to have a key.”
The top floor had not yet been renovated like the first floor. The narrow corridor was lined with small rooms whose doors were tightly shut. The yellow painted door fronts were peeling, and inside was a dusty, choking smell.
After speaking, Qin Huai looked straight at Shen Zhi, seemingly unaware that there was anything wrong with what she had just said.
The alpha beside her gave a faint laugh, grabbed her wrist, and led her through the corridor, stopping at the small door to the rooftop.
This small door was narrow, only allowing one person to pass through. Outside the door was a balcony overlooking the entire sports field. The iron door was already covered in rust, and a padlock the size of a fist hung on a chain.
Through the crack in the door, they could see the wind outside was fierce, swirling withered branches and leaves, followed by a downpour that seemed to rush down in buckets.
The ground was damp.
The tightly clasped wrist was instantly released. Shen Zhi, standing opposite, said, “Wait for me here, Senior.”
Qin Huai stood in place and watched Shen Zhi walk further away, reaching up to feel the top of the door on each closed club room. Her windbreaker had quite a bit of dust on it, but Shen Zhi seemed not to notice, walking directly to the deepest part of the corridor, then turned and held up a key on her phone: “Senior, found it.”
The metal object gave off a faint, bright glow in the dim environment.
Qin Huai’s eyes shifted, momentarily dazzled, and a question slowly rose in her mind.
How would Shen Zhi know where that key was placed?
