The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 11
Inside the Alpha Dormitory.
Shen Zhi was lounging in a black swivel chair, scrolling through her phone with her legs dangling. Her posture was relaxed, and her toes swung back and forth, following the movement of the chair’s wheels.
The teacher had assigned a physiology problem before dismissing the class, a problem Zhang Mo was completely lost on. The slight noise from Shen Zhi’s movements was grating on her nerves. With a loud smack, a pen hit the desk. “My ancestor, please stop making noise.”
Shen Zhi’s feet briefly paused, and the noise stopped.
Her eyes drifted from the phone screen, and she turned her head to look at Zhang Mo behind her. Her voice carried a hint of seriousness, “Tell me, does a type of Omega exist in this world whose pheromones have absolutely no attraction for an Alpha?”
“Are you kidding me?” Zhang Mo couldn’t believe it. “An Omega without pheromones? Is that even still an Omega?”
Shen Zhi pondered for a moment, then gave a soft nod.
In this world, apart from Betas who lack scent glands and cannot possess pheromones, all Alphas and Omegas do. Alphas in the rut are aggressive, possessive, and highly territorial, often needing their Omega by their side. An Omega’s pheromones can soothe their emotions and provide Alphas with a certain kind of satisfaction.
If an Omega’s pheromones had no effect on an Alpha, it would be equivalent to an Alpha in the rut having a Beta by their side no matter how much you bit or nuzzled their neck, you wouldn’t gain any real sense of security.
But that night at the bar, the scent on Qin Huai definitely seemed to be emanating from the scent gland on her neck…
Could it have been just too much orange scented perfume?
Shen Zhi had been researching this problem for half a month, poring over documents and papers, and consulting every expert she could. The answer she got was always negative. She rubbed her throbbing temples, put down her phone, and started on her homework.
Zhang Mo, still drawing a blank, instinctively opened the campus forum to distract herself. Resting her arm on the chair’s armrest, she saw a new post pop up and immediately called out to Shen Zhi, “Shen Zhi, Lin Qiu went to find Qin Huai late at night.”
Shen Zhi had just settled down and written the character for ‘solution’ when she heard Zhang Mo. She immediately dropped her pen, slid her chair over to Zhang Mo, and snatched her phone.
Jiangcheng University’s forum was old, and the page was cluttered. The hottest and latest posts were always marked with a red tag.
Shen Zhi immediately saw a familiar name in the first red-tagged post at the top.
【Breaking News! Lin Qiu and Shen Zhi meet in the little woods late at night, a chance for reconciliation!】
Shen Zhi knew the “little woods” mentioned in the post very well; it was the dating hot spot at Jiangcheng University, densely planted with trees, providing a convenient and leafy cover for young couples to secretly “quench their thirst” in the summer.
Zhang Mo watched the Alpha next to her grow increasingly pale. She even worried that her phone might be smashed.
The next second, Shen Zhi shoved the phone back into her hand, grabbed a jacket, and headed out.
It was already very late; any later and the dorm supervisor would lock the doors.
Zhang Mo stood up and asked the obvious, “It’s so late, where are you going?”
Shen Zhi had already reached the door, her hand gripping the doorknob. Her usually straight shoulders were slightly slumped, betraying a subtle, anxious rush. “To cut off the last thread of hope for that scumbag.”
Qin Huai hung up the phone with Liu Nian and was momentarily stunned.
This was her first breakup, and she was inexperienced. She generally understood the need to return things to the Alpha, but a room card…
The more Qin Huai thought about it, the more she felt she had a problem with her head. She rubbed her eyes and, for once, cursed, “Psycho.”
A tiny gap was left in the curtains, and the sky outside had already darkened. The large streetlights outside the dormitory were bright enough to dispel some of the minor darkness.
Shen Zhi changed back into the clothes she had worn during the day, went to her wardrobe, rummaged around for the room card, and then went downstairs with her phone.
It was generally quiet outside the dorm at this time, with only two or three Omegas walking in, laughing and chatting, carrying badminton rackets.
Qin Huai walked to the entrance and immediately saw where Lin Qiu was standing
the same place where they had broken up last time. The Alpha waved her arm purposefully when she saw Qin Huai come out.
Qin Huai was a bit listless, having just woken up. Her long hair was pinned back with a claw clip, making the back of her head look full. She saw Lin Qiu wave, walked down the steps, held out the room card, and said without any trace of emotion, “I forgot to return this to you last time we broke up.”
Lin Qiu’s eyes had been shining with unsuppressed joy until she heard that sentence. As the words landed, Lin Qiu lowered her gaze to the room card. Her voice was tinged with sadness, “Huai Huai, do you really think I came to find you for a room card?”
Qin Huai furrowed her brow and asked, confused, “No?”
“So, that’s what you think of me.” Lin Qiu’s eyelids pressed down, holding back her grief. “I thought you truly loved me.”
So much time had passed since the breakup, and whether there was love or not no longer mattered.
Qin Huai was always direct and efficient; even in breaking up, she was decisive. She hadn’t eaten dinner yet, and her empty stomach showed in a fleeting expression of impatience. “Our business ends here. I don’t have time to waste on you.”
She turned to leave as soon as she finished speaking.
She had only taken a few steps past Lin Qiu’s shoulder when the Alpha behind her suddenly spoke, “You don’t have time to waste on me? What about Shen Zhi?”
Qin Huai’s steps paused slightly. As she turned her head, Lin Qiu was already facing her. “What do you mean?”
“Qin Huai.” Lin Qiu hadn’t spoken that name in a long time; saying it again felt strange and unfamiliar. “Don’t you think the video incident was strange?”
The streetlights outside the dorm were tall, and the surrounding green plants cast long, deep shadows.
“Why was the video of my confession to Shen Zhi posted online? Why did the heat stay so high? Why has Shen Zhi been constantly approaching you?” The Alpha, having dropped her facade, no longer wore the look of feigned pitifulness. She lowered her eyes, her gaze low and smiling, but the smile was unsettling. “Come with me, and I’ll tell you.”
The little woods at Jiangcheng University were near the gymnasium. Spring hadn’t fully passed, and tender green buds were already sprouting on the branches. A stone statue of a student clutching a textbook stood in the center, its eyes fixed on the plastic track of the sports field.
The area was enveloped by withered, crumpled trees, and the dim light cast gray shadows of the branches on the ground. Qin Huai followed behind Lin Qiu, walking past the statue and stopping at the most secluded spot. “What do you want to say?”
Most of the people on the sports field had left; only two or three sports students were still jogging laps. The place was very quiet, quiet enough to hear the sound of the wind rustling the tree branches.
Lin Qiu turned around but didn’t answer that question, instead asking a new one, “Did you ever love me?”
This question had nothing to do with the conversation they were supposed to have. Besides, they had broken up; dwelling on it would only cause more self-inflicted pain.
So what if she loved him? And what if she didn’t?
Would loving him make the forum incident disappear?
Qin Huai thought it was somewhat laughable. “What’s the point of this question?”
In the darkness, Lin Qiu frowned, her voice heavy and low. “But I love you.”
She remembered when she first saw the Omega during her freshman year. She was standing in the middle of a crowd, dragging her luggage. People were pushing and shoving all around, yet she held a map in her hand, her brow etched with a hard-to-approach pride, like the finest flower in the land, waiting to be plucked. From that moment, Lin Qiu felt that this Omega was born to belong to her, to be hidden away in her home, pleading for mercy under the torment of her heat.
“Huai Huai, did you know? I fell in love with you the first time I saw you. Before you, I felt no one was worthy of me. Omegas are naturally a base kind, only fit to kneel and be an Alpha’s pet, but you changed my mind,” Lin Qiu’s voice was laced with a low plea. “Please, give me another chance.”
Having known Lin Qiu for five years, this was the first time Qin Huai truly saw her for who she was.
Qin Huai rarely smiled, but after Lin Qiu’s speech, she gave a rare laugh, her tone carrying an unmistakable hint of sarcasm. “Do you think you’re so excellent? Do you think all Omegas are beneath you? Where do you get this confidence?”
“Is an Omega’s heat something they can control? Who wants to be dominated by pheromones after differentiation?”
The barrage of questions left Lin Qiu speechless.
Qin Huai continued, “And do you really love me? You just happened to think that this Omega was decent at that time and fit your expectations. What you feel for me has never been love; it’s your Alphas’ disgusting possessiveness.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Lin Qiu immediately looked up and denied it, “No, that’s not it.”
But Qin Huai didn’t pay her any mind. “Whatever you have to say, say it all now. What about the video? What about Shen Zhi? Say it, and then don’t ever bother me again.”
In the pitch-black night, the air seemed to stand still.
Qin Huai waited for a moment but received no answer and turned to leave.
She had only taken a few steps when she suddenly heard several heavy footsteps behind her, followed by a forearm wrapping around her waist. The Alpha’s chin rested on her shoulder. “Huai Huai, don’t leave me. I really, really love you.”
The night was always cold, and even the evening breeze carried a refreshing chill. The tree branches swayed, and a faint scent of osmanthus appeared in the air.
Qin Huai frowned, feeling a visceral sense of discomfort. “Let go of me.”
Not only did Lin Qiu not release her, but she tightened her grip. Her sanity was plummeting into a deep abyss, and her mind was screaming relentlessly:
Mark her.
Once she’s marked, she can never leave you.
Lin Qiu stared down at the scent gland hidden by the inhibitor patch. Regardless of how the Omega in her arms struggled, her eyes grew darker and deeper.
The osmanthus scent in the air was sickeningly sweet.
Qin Huai finally realized that this was the scent of the Alpha’s pheromones, but it was too late. Her legs had already gone uncontrollably weak, and her body felt both unfamiliar and tense, relying entirely on the support of the person behind her.
“Huai Huai, you won’t be able to leave me.” Lin Qiu finished speaking and one hand moved to the back of the Omega’s neck, tearing off the unsightly, rigid inhibitor patch.
Beneath the patch, the Omega’s scent gland was slightly swollen, pulsing with a vibrant life force.
