The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 10
Qin Huai waited for quite a while for that hand to reach over, still pondering if she had been too fierce. Just as she was about to pull her arm back, a hand timely covered it.
That hand was slightly darker in color, and when the palm rested on the back of hers, it was large enough to completely envelope her whole hand. The palm’s temperature was quite high, so hot it was hard to ignore.
Qin Huai, who had been drooping her head, looked up in disbelief after seeing that hand, then lowered her head to confirm repeatedly, “What are you doing?”
She had simply asked Shen Zhi to hold her sleeve, purely to humor the child, not to hold hands like this.
This posture was too intimate.
After speaking, Qin Huai waited for the alpha to politely let go, otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from cutting ties.
But the person in front of her didn’t seem to find anything improper at all.
Shen Zhi was wearing a thin khaki sweater, standing under the shop’s light. The corners of her mouth curved into a shallow arc, “It was you, Senior Qin, who asked to hold hands.”
Qin Huai: “……”
“Alright, Senior Qin.” Shen Zhi raised her wrist to check the dial of her watch, her tone light and casual, “If we don’t go eat now, we won’t get a seat.”
“I don’t know about seats,” the omega’s pupils were very dark, flashing with a faint luster under the light. Her expression was very sour, and the words she spoke were equally sour, “But if you hold on a moment longer, you might be eating in the campus infirmary.”
Shen Zhi: “……”
Jiangcheng University had a total of three canteens: one near the omega dorms, one near the alpha dorms, and another one in the center of the teaching buildings, a comprehensive building housing all kinds of general merchandise, cakes, and desserts. The pickled fish restaurant Shen Zhi took Qin Huai to was on the third floor of the comprehensive building.
They spent about half an hour eating. Shen Zhi was the one who went to pay. Qin Huai waited for her to bring the receipt over, took a look, and then transferred her portion of the money.
Shen Zhi heard a ‘ding’ from her phone and didn’t dwell on it. Qin Huai was inherently a person with a strong sense of personal distance. If they quibbled over who paid, it would probably be difficult to ask her out again later.
The teaching building for the Pheromone major was very close, only a five-minute walk. The meeting room was set on the second floor, so there was no need to wait for the elevator; taking the stairs was quicker.
The layout of the classrooms was mostly similar, but this time there were more people, and the classroom chosen was larger than last time.
When Shen Zhi and Qin Huai entered, the students who had arrived early were scattered around, with only one or two people in almost every row, except for the first row which was completely empty, a position clearly unpopular.
The people in the classroom, originally gathered in twos and threes talking softly, closed their mouths when they saw the people entering. For a moment, the classroom was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Shen Zhi walked beside Qin Huai as if nothing was wrong, pausing slightly when they reached the first row.
Usually, she preferred to hide in the back during meetings. That spot was a blind area, making it convenient to sneak a peek at her phone. After all, meetings were so long, no one could manage to stay fully focused the entire time.
But this time was different. This was Qin Huai’s first class meeting as a counselor assistant, alongside the counselor. There might be some supplementary information she needed to provide. Having her sit in the back would be too troublesome.
Noticing Shen Zhi stopped, her gaze shifting over the desks and chairs in the first row, Qin Huai asked, “Sitting here?”
Shen Zhi nodded and sat down side-by-side with Qin Huai in the first row.
More and more students came in later, and the sound of footsteps in the empty corridor became increasingly mixed. Many alphas and omegas came in pairs, so the chatter almost never stopped. But every one of these alphas, omegas, or betas who entered and saw the two people sitting upright together in the first row had the exact same reaction.
They looked at each other.
Then they peeked their heads in to check if there was anyone they knew in the classroom, confirming they hadn’t come to the wrong place.
The entire Jiangcheng University, including the stray cats, knew that Qin Huai’s alpha had confessed to Shen Zhi, and Qin Huai and Shen Zhi were supposed to be rivals in love.
Shouldn’t rivals in love fight?
Why were they sitting together?
Consequently, after confirming they hadn’t entered the wrong classroom, the crowd distractedly grabbed any available seat and then pulled out their phones to surf the net.
The Jiangcheng University forum went crazy with refreshing once again.
When Lin Qiu entered, there were no other empty seats in the classroom. Whether it was because the current students were mischievous or the number of attendees was exactly right, the only vacant seat left was beside Shen Zhi. Lin Qiu had no choice but to walk in with a gloomy face and sit next to Shen Zhi.
The three of them sitting in the first row made the narrow long desk quite interesting. The students behind them all put down their phones and looked straight ahead.
The Pheromone major had a total of six classes. After each class monitor took attendance and confirmed the numbers were correct, they replied in the group chat. Soon after, the counselor arrived.
This was Qin Huai’s first time meeting this pregnant omega counselor. Her build was generally on the heavier side, with a slightly protruding belly. Perhaps due to the pregnancy, she seemed very approachable. When she came in, she first glanced around and joked with the students, “Long time no see, everyone.”
“It has been a long time!”
“So long that the teacher now has a child.”
Someone said this, and the classroom immediately filled with laughter. Even Qin Huai hadn’t been in such a lively atmosphere for a long time. The upturn of her lips made her look very easy to talk to.
After the counselor briefly exchanged pleasantries with the students, she introduced the names of the assistant seniors one by one, then got straight to the point, starting with a brief discussion of issues that had arisen in the previous weeks.
Shen Zhi had Lin Qiu on one side and Qin Huai on the other. She rested her chin on her hand, her eyes glancing sideways at Qin Huai, while keeping one ear listening and secretly observing Qin Huai.
The chairs in the lecture hall were the type that automatically folded up when one stood up. The wooden board was very thin; a slight tap would produce a sound.
Shen Zhi was secretly observing nicely when she suddenly felt the wooden board behind her being touched very lightly. Her gaze extended backward, and then her eyebrow slightly arched.
Lin Qiu, sitting next to her, had, at some point, reached out her hand, wrapped it around Shen Zhi’s shoulder, and was tugging at Qin Huai’s shoulder hoodie.
Shen Zhi: “……”
This one just won’t give up, will she?
Once Qin Huai was engrossed in something, it was hard to pull her away. Besides, what the counselor was discussing concerned her overall work later on. She was listening to the counselor and making mental notes when she heard an important point about the sports meet next month. Her shoulder was tugged.
At first, she thought it was Shen Zhi and didn’t pay it any mind.
However, that hand became more and more excessive, and the tugging became wider in range. Qin Huai was getting a headache from the tugging and was about to warn Shen Zhi when she turned her head and saw Lin Qiu’s eager eyes.
Qin Huai wanted to send a message to warn the other party a few times but remembered she had deleted her WeChat, so she could only signal with her eyes for her to stay away.
Shen Zhi had been observing like a bystander for a long time. Catching Qin Huai’s impatient look, she immediately understood, reached out, and grabbed Lin Qiu’s wrist, pulling it under the desk.
Alphas were naturally strong, especially Shen Zhi, who exercised regularly. When facing Qin Huai, she smiled, her dimples shallowly indenting her cheeks, looking perfectly sensible and easy to talk to, but her previous good temper instantly vanished when she turned away.
Lin Qiu was also an alpha. Although she was also strong, due to prolonged exhaustion, her strength was slightly inferior to Shen Zhi’s.
She could feel Shen Zhi’s hand gripping her like an iron clamp, making her wrist bones feel like they were about to shatter.
Her gaze lifted from her wrist to Shen Zhi’s face, and her body slightly trembled.
Almost all omegas at Jiangcheng University knew that Shen Zhi had a good temper and that her pair of dimples were very appealing when she smiled, but Lin Qiu caught a glimpse of another side.
At this moment, Shen Zhi was scowling, the slight smile in her eyes already submerged. The corners of her mouth no longer curved up, and her dimples were naturally gone. She appeared somber and sharp, her eyes like the bottomless black of the night, inspiring fear.
Lin Qiu was also an alpha, and she knew exactly what that expression meant coming from her own kind.
That look was like a dominant wolf staring at an intruder who had stolen its cub and encroached on its territory. She had retrieved her cub and placed it under herself, shielding it behind her.
Lin Qiu’s heart skipped a beat, and a certain unbelievable guess surfaced in her mind.
The next second, that guess was confirmed.
As the sensation of crushing bones became heavier, Shen Zhi opened her mouth and formed a word with her lips just as she finally let go.
“Get lost.”
After the word fell, Shen Zhi turned back around.
Jiangcheng University held a sports meet every March. The weather then was neither cold nor hot, which could ignite the students’ enthusiasm.
Everyone who decided to participate had to fill out the roster with their class monitor. Once confirmed, changes were impossible. The final roster would be compiled by the assistant senior and submitted to her.
The assistant senior was only responsible for compiling the data, which Qin Huai could grudgingly accept. The experiment was winding down, and the only thing left was the thesis. She could spare the time to handle this.
After the meeting dispersed, Qin Huai seemed to have forgotten what had just happened. She didn’t spare Lin Qiu a glance, turned around, and left.
Shen Zhi followed behind her, giving Lin Qiu a final fierce look before leaving with Qin Huai.
When Qin Huai left the classroom, she noticed Shen Zhi following her and assumed they were heading downstairs together, but even after they left the teaching building, Shen Zhi was still by her side. It was hard to ignore such a tall alpha, especially since the alpha dorms were so far from the omega dorms.
Qin Huai stopped on the road below the teaching building, “Why are you following me?”
The omega, wearing a white hooded sweater in the sunlight, with the round neck slightly drooping to reveal a pair of clearly defined, glowing white collarbones. Her expression was still sour and indifferent, but a rare hint of a small emotion surfaced in her eyes, a bit like a child eager to shake off someone following them.
Shen Zhi curved the corner of her mouth, her expression seeming innocent and harmless. She was taller than the omega in front of her, and when she lowered her head, she blocked a little sunlight, “To walk you back to your dorm.”
Qin Huai: “?”
Shen Zhi: “I haven’t been in a relationship, but I’m very clear about the current situation. It’s completely normal for an alpha to walk an omega back to the dorm.”
This sentence was actually a little convoluted, and since Qin Huai was usually too lazy to think about the underlying meaning of other people’s words, she simply said “Oh” and nodded, “I don’t need to be walked back. You should go back.”
Then she turned and walked away without looking back.
Back at the dorm building, Qin Huai was about to open the door. Just as she took out her key, she noticed the door was slightly ajar, and sounds of heavy objects piling up could be heard from inside.
Qin Huai frowned and pushed the door open.
In the chaotic dorm room, her omega roommate Liu Nian, whose arrival had been delayed by some matter, was standing amidst a pile of books as high as her calves, rummaging through them. There were also several dusty cardboard boxes nearby.
“Huai Huai, you’re finally back.” Compared to Qin Huai, Liu Nian had a very outgoing personality. Seeing Qin Huai, she didn’t bother organizing the books, immediately spreading her arms, “Give me a hug.”
Qin Huai looked at the dust on her, the corner of her mouth curling in disdain, looking unwilling to engage.
Liu Nian opened her arms and didn’t get a response, so she had to continue searching for a few books. She had rushed back in a hurry, and her tutor was waiting for her to submit her assignment. After finding the books, Liu Nian didn’t even bother tidying up the mess before rushing off to report to her tutor.
The dorm room was finally quiet.
Qin Huai sat down at her desk and drafted her thesis for a bit. Her eyelids felt dry, and sleepiness washed over her. She packed up her laptop, closed the curtains, and lay down on the bed.
She slept fitfully, eventually being woken up by the phone ringing.
With the curtains drawn, the dorm room was pitch black. She didn’t know what time of day it was outside. Qin Huai pressed her temple with one hand, groggily answering the phone.
“Huai Huai, Lin Qiu is looking for you,” Liu Nian said on the other end of the phone.
Qin Huai’s voice held the weariness of being woken up, “What does she want?”
Liu Nian hesitated for a second on the other end of the phone, seeming to not believe the words she had written down, until she confirmed it, then she said bitterly, “She wants you to return her room card.”
