The Villainess’s Darling [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 41
Ning Xiao had originally thought she loved the pitiful, adorable version of Yun Can’er. But in this singular moment, a violent throb of emotion seized her heart, and an uncontrollable flush crept up her cheeks.
The sudden sensation of falling in love was more turbulent than a crashing wave, ceaselessly washing over her heart and leaving her spirit adrift in the surge.
Her eyes, clear as autumn water, were now veiled in a crimson mist. Ning Xiao’s breath quickened. She tilted her head to look at Yun Can’er and said softly, “I am yours, and you are mine. Can’er, let me go, alright? I want to hold you.”
Yun Can’er stared into Ning Xiao’s eyes, remaining motionless.
However, Ning Xiao noticed that the tips of Can’er’s ears had turned red.
Ning Xiao’s voice grew even more tender. “Can’er, untie the cords. Let me hold you, okay?”
But upon hearing those words, Can’er’s expression shifted instantly. She backed away warily, standing up to create distance between them. “Don’t try to trick me. If I untie the cords, you’ll definitely leave me. You want to call the police and have me arrested, and then you’ll go find Shang Shaotan, won’t you?”
Ning Xiao’s gaze was magnetic, filled with a lingering, gentle affection. “No. Can’er, I stopped liking Shang Shaotan a long time ago. Why won’t you believe me?”
Can’er shook her head, opening her mouth to speak, when the sound of a phone ringing suddenly filled the room.
Both their gazes fell simultaneously on the phone sitting on the bedside table. Ning Xiao’s screen was lit up, buzzing with the rhythm of the ringtone.
Can’er’s expression changed abruptly. “Who is calling you this late?” Was it Shang Shaotan?
“It’s no one,” Ning Xiao said.
Thinking Ning Xiao was trying to hide something, Can’er bit her lip and walked angrily to the bedside table, picking up the vibrating phone.
The illuminated screen displayed the word “Alarm” and the time. “What did you set an alarm for midnight for?” Can’er asked, stunned.
Ning Xiao looked at her steadily. “What do you think? It’s your birthday after midnight. I was planning to confess to you the moment your birthday began.”
Can’er used Ning Xiao’s fingerprint to unlock the phone. When she saw the note Ning Xiao had written”Can’er’s Birthday, confess” the anxiety in her heart was instantly soothed.
Ning Xiao hadn’t lied. She really did like her!
Can’er walked back to the bed and sat down. Her cool fingers brushed against Ning Xiao’s lips, and her face flushed as she asked in a small voice, “Do you really like me? You really don’t like Shang Shaotan anymore?”
Ning Xiao nodded with certainty. “Really. Right now, I only like you. Liking Shang Shaotan was something that happened before I met you.”
Can’er’s face seemed to turn even redder. She whispered, “How were you planning to confess?”
Ning Xiao’s gaze drifted to her own wrists. The thin red cords tied around her snow-white skin looked like plum blossoms against the snow a touch of vivid beauty amidst the cold.
“Untie me, and I’ll show you.” Since it was past midnight and Can’er was now eighteen, Ning Xiao decided to be a little bold and give Can’er a truly unforgettable birthday gift.
Can’er seemed to read the deep meaning in Ning Xiao’s eyes. When her fingertips touched Ning Xiao’s wrists, she couldn’t help but curl them slightly. Beneath her rounded nails, her skin was flushed with heat.
“Be good, untie it,” Ning Xiao coaxed softly.
After a flicker of hesitation, Can’er began to undo the thin cords.
Once her hands were free, Can’er moved to untie the cords around Ning Xiao’s ankles. When everything was undone, Can’er returned to Ning Xiao’s side, looking at her expectantly.
She wasn’t entirely sure what she was expecting; she had simply defaulted back to this vulnerable state in front of Ning Xiao.
Ning Xiao smiled with satisfaction and sat up. She took one of Can’er’s wrists in her hand and grasped the girl’s cool, soft palm with the other.
A pale flush spread across Can’er’s neck from nerves, and her dark eyes darted about, filled with uncertainty.
“Don’t be afraid. You just have to accept my confession,” Ning Xiao said with a light chuckle.
She scratched Can’er’s palm lightly, and the ticklish sensation flowed from the girl’s veins straight to her heart. With a gentle tug on her wrist, Can’er relaxed completely, following the pull until she was lying on the bed with Ning Xiao. They were now face-to-face.
Their faces were shrouded in darkness, their eyes the only things gleaming like stars.
Ning Xiao reached out to caress Can’er’s cheek. Her voice was low, carrying a hint of a sexy rasp. “Can’er.”
“Mhm?” Can’er stared back at her without blinking.
“I really liked the innocent and adorable you from before”
Can’er immediately tensed up, feeling as though she couldn’t stay lying down. Ning Xiao liked the old me, but I’m not innocent or adorable anymore. Does that mean she doesn’t like me now?
“But I just realized”
Can’er couldn’t help but turn her face away, covering her ears with her hands, terrified of hearing words she wouldn’t be able to bear.
Ning Xiao laughed and gently pulled her hands down. “Listen to me, don’t be afraid. Don’t forget, I’m confessing to you.”
Can’er looked at her blankly. So, Ning Xiao doesn’t hate me?
Ning Xiao leaned in, pressing her forehead against Can’er’s. Their warm breaths mingled, and an air of intimacy began to simmer.
“I liked the innocent you, but I’ve just realized that compared to how you were before, the current you make my heartbeat much faster.”
Can’er blinked, seemingly unable to process the words.
Ning Xiao took her hand, the charm in her eyes practically overflowing. “Want to know how fast my heart is beating?”
She then placed Can’er’s hand directly over her heart.
Can’er instinctively grabbed it. Ning Xiao knit her brows slightly and laughed. “Don’t be in such a rush, we have the whole night ahead of us”
“I’m not in a rush.” Can’er’s cheeks were burning. Feeling a light sweat break out, she quickly tried to withdraw her hand. The tingling sensation from touching that soft skin lingered, making her own heart race.
But Ning Xiao wouldn’t let her go. “You haven’t felt it properly yet.”
She picked up Can’er’s hand again. Can’er couldn’t tell exactly how fast Ning Xiao’s heart was beating, but she was acutely aware of her own. It felt as though it might explode at any second.
“You… you listen to mine.” Summoning a sudden burst of courage, Can’er threw her arms around Ning Xiao’s neck and pulled her close.
Caught off guard, Ning Xiao’s cheek pressed into a lovely softness. She was stunned for a moment before she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Can’er, I’ve realized you’re just as adorable as ever. Bluntly adorable.”
Ning Xiao was a bit more thick-skinned than Can’er. She didn’t retreat; instead, she stayed pressed there, seriously listening to the rhythm of Can’er’s heart.
Thump—thump—thump. One after another, the frequency was incredibly high.
Ning Xiao tilted her head slightly and said, “Can’er, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?”
Still holding Ning Xiao’s neck, Can’er’s body was stiff. Letting go felt too abrupt, but continuing to hold on felt strange. Hearing the question, she lowered her head to meet Ning Xiao’s gaze.
Their faces were so close that a mere centimeter forward would mean a kiss. Can’er didn’t even dare move her mouth too much. She whispered nervously, “Yes. Of course. I’ve been waiting for this day for three years.”
Ning Xiao was her girlfriend now. Were they supposed to do something?
Can’er recalled the information she had looked up online. How are two girls supposed to… It didn’t seem too difficult.
“Can’er, what are you thinking about? You’ve suddenly spaced out, your face is getting redder, and your nose is even sweating.” Ning Xiao brushed her nose against Can’er’s.
Embarrassed, Can’er let go and turned her back to Ning Xiao. Her breathing was heavy, and her body was curled up like a shrimp. Even her neck and the area below her collarbone were flushed red.
“I’m fine!” Can’er said. “You… don’t move for a second.”
“Alright,” Ning Xiao replied. “I won’t move.”
Hearing that Ning Xiao wasn’t moving, Can’er finally felt safe enough to turn back around. Her dark eyes shimmered with shyness. She reached out and covered Ning Xiao’s eyes. “Close your eyes. Don’t look.”
Ning Xiao followed her lead without hesitation.
Can’er cautiously moved her hand away. Seeing that Ning Xiao indeed had her eyes closed, she breathed a sigh of relief and began to prepare for her next move.
With her eyes closed, Ning Xiao’s other senses became exceptionally sharp. She heard the sound of Can’er cautiously shifting, the friction of her clothes, the slightly rapid breathing born of nerves, and the vibration of the mattress.
The right side of the bed suddenly dipped. Can’er seemed to be very close now; her nervous breaths were becoming more pronounced.
Finally, Ning Xiao felt Can’er’s breath, carrying a faint, pleasant scent, as she drew near. The temperature close to Ning Xiao’s body began to rise.
“Can’er,” Ning Xiao whispered. “Are you…”
How was she supposed to ask? Are you hovering over me?
Though she was almost certain of Can’er’s careful movements, asking the question might make the girl fly into a bashful rage. She decided to keep quiet. She wanted to see just how bold the “blackened” Can’er had become did she really dare to do something?
“Ning Ning. I’ll make you feel good,” Can’er whispered.
Ning Xiao:
Wait, is this backward? Shouldn’t I be the one making her feel good?
