The Villainess’s Darling [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 42
Ning Xiao acted decisively, flipping over to swap positions with Yun Can’er. “Can’er, leave it to me. I’ll make you feel wonderful.”
Before Yun Can’er could even process what was happening, she was already submerged in the brilliant dreamscape Ning Xiao had woven for her.
That night, Yun Can’er learned the true meaning of a soul-shaking experience.
The next morning, Ning Xiao woke up on the messy, large bed. Turning her head, she saw Yun Can’er’s slightly exhausted but rosy sleeping face and couldn’t help but kiss her eyelashes.
Yun Can’er hadn’t fallen asleep until three or four in the morning and was currently in a deep sleep. Despite Ning Xiao’s repeated kisses, she showed no signs of waking.
Ning Xiao simply pulled Yun Can’er into her arms and drifted back off for a second nap.
By the time she woke up again, it was already noon. The sun hung high in the sky, casting a brilliant glow through the glass window and onto Yun Can’er’s face.
Yun Can’er’s skin was so delicate that not a single pore was visible even under the sunlight. Her pink lips were slightly curved upward as if she were mid-dream, and her dimples seemed filled with sweetness.
Watching her smiling, sleeping face, Ning Xiao couldn’t help but smile too.
“Time to wake up, little lazybones,” Ning Xiao whispered into her ear, gently pinching her nose.
Rather than a wake-up call, it sounded more like a lullaby, her tender voice continuing to weave a beautiful dream.
With a soft moan, Yun Can’er raised her hand to rub her eyes. She rolled into Ning Xiao’s embrace, nuzzling against her cheek. Likely finding the soft sensation comfortable, she nuzzled again.
Ning Xiao chuckled and tapped her forehead. “Keep nuzzling like that, and you won’t be getting out of bed today.”
Yun Can’er froze. She peeked one eye open, meeting Ning Xiao’s amused gaze. “Ning Xiao? Why are you in my bed?”
Ning Xiao gave her lip a playful, punishing nip. “What do you think? After devouring me completely last night, are you planning to dodge the bill today?”
Yun Can’er stunned, lowered her head in disbelief. Once she realized their current state, she gasped, “I thought it was a dream!”
Ning Xiao showed her the red cord on the nightstand. “You tied me up with your own hands yesterday. How could it be a dream?”
Yun Can’er:
She remembered!
The courage Yun Can’er had last night instantly shrivelled up into a tiny ball. She buried her face in her hands, not daring to look at Ning Xiao. “That wasn’t me.”
Ning Xiao picked her up and turned half a circle, leaving Yun Can’er wrapped in the duvet, lying on top of her.
Yun Can’er let out a startled cry.
Ning Xiao laughed softly, patting her back. “If it wasn’t you, then who? Is there someone else in the apartment?”
Yun Can’er kept her face buried in Ning Xiao’s chest, refusing to face reality.
She had no idea where she’d found the nerve yesterday, actually giving Ning Xiao a sleeping pill, tying her up while she was out cold, and forcing her to “date” her.
“I might have more than one personality. Maybe the other one did it yesterday; I have absolutely no idea,” Yun Can’er muttered, talking complete nonsense.
“So, was it the other personality I confessed to as well?” Ning Xiao asked, staring at Yun Can’er’s pink ears.
Yun Can’er immediately looked up. “No! The person you confessed to was me!”
Ning Xiao nodded as if enlightened. “I see. So the person who tied me up was your other personality, but the one who got intimate and heard my confession was you. Is that right?”
“Yes,” Yun Can’er replied, her voice tiny with guilt.
Seeing that she was willing to invent a split personality just to clear her name, Ning Xiao felt both exasperated and amused. She gave her a light swat on the bottom. “Can’er, if you’re going to lie, at least make it plausible. Do you think I wouldn’t know if you had a dissociative disorder? If you lie to me again, the punishment doubles.”
Clutching her backside, Yun Can’er’s dark eyes darted around guiltily. She bit her lower lip and hesitated. “Ning-ning, are you angry about last night?” She didn’t deny the lie this time.
She couldn’t even lie properly, where on earth did, she get the guts to tie Ning Xiao up?! Yun Can’er thought ruefully.
Looking back, it was as if she’d been possessed. Ever since seeing Shang Shaotan, she’d become irrational. No matter how Ning Xiao explained it, she had been convinced that Ning Xiao still had feelings for him.
Yun Can’er wrinkled her face, looking piteously at Ning Xiao. “Ning-ning, please don’t be mad at me”
Ning Xiao put an arm around her waist, pretending to think it over. Under Yun Can’er’s nervous gaze, she said slowly, “It’s not impossible for me to stop being angry, but”
“But what?” Yun Can’er asked quickly.
Ning Xiao smiled and tapped her cheek with a fingertip. “If you give me a kiss, I won’t be angry anymore.”
Yun Can’er’s eyes widened. It was that easy to get forgiveness?
“I’ll do it right now!”
Closing her eyes, Yun Can’er puckered her lips and pecked Ning Xiao’s cheek. To ensure she was fully forgiven, she followed up with kisses on the corner of her mouth, the tip of her nose, her eyes, her forehead and her ears basically everywhere she could reach.
Ning Xiao was caught off guard by the “storm” of affection. By the time Yun Can’er finished, her whole face was covered in the soft sensation of her lips.
Ning Xiao rolled them over so they were lying side-by-side. With a twinkle in her eyes, she asked, “Why the sudden nickname, ‘Ning-ning’?”
Yun Can’er had always called her by her full name, never using “Xiao Xiao” like other close acquaintances. The sudden “Ning-ning” last night had left Ning Xiao a bit puzzled.
Yun Can’er looked at her, a small smile revealing those sweet dimples. “Because I want to be the most special person to you. People call you Ning Xiao, or Xiao Xiao, but no one has ever called you Ning-ning.”
Nuzzling into the crook of Ning Xiao’s shoulder, she said expectantly, “From now on, Ning-ning is my exclusive nickname for you. No one else is allowed to use it, okay?”
“Okay.” How could she possibly say no?
Since her eighteenth birthday and taking their relationship to the next level, Yun Can’er couldn’t resist the urge to mark her territory in front of others.
Ning Xiao didn’t stop her; in fact, she backed her up. Wherever Yun Can’er wanted to show off, Ning Xiao followed.
The first person on Yun Can’er’s list was, of course, Shang Shaotan—the man who had always been a thorn in her side.
Ning Xiao was a Finance major at Hua University, while Shang Shaotan studied Business Administration. The two majors had overlapping courses, occasionally sharing large lecture halls.
Once she confirmed the schedule, Yun Can’er specifically took time off to attend the class with Ning Xiao.
Arriving early, she reserved four seats in the middle of the hall—two in the sixth row for her and Ning Xiao, and two in the seventh row directly behind them for Shang Shaotan and Yuan Wei.
When the bell rang, Ning Xiao walked over from her previous class. Upon entering, she saw Yun Can’er standing in the prime spot, gesturing toward her phone.
Ning Xiao usually kept her phone on silent during class. Seeing the signal, she checked her WeChat to find a list of instructions from Yun Can’er.
Yun Can’er:
Wait for Shang Shaotan and Yuan Wei outside the classroom.
Lead them to the seats I saved.
Show off our relationship in front of them.
Ning Xiao couldn’t help but laugh. The students passing by were stunned did the ice queen Ning Xiao actually have a soft, gentle side?
Ignoring the stares, she typed back.
Ning Xiao: Whatever my girlfriend says. Yun Can’er: Mua~ Love you Ning-ning!
The two began flirting back and forth over text.
“Ning Xiao? Why are you standing at the door?” Yuan Wei’s voice called out from nearby.
Ning Xiao tucked her phone away and looked up. Seeing Shang Shaotan was with him, she said, “Can’er came to see me today. She heard you guys were in this class too, so she saved seats for us. She asked me to wait for you. Let’s go.”
With that, she led the way inside.
Yuan Wei hurried to follow, pulling a grumpy Shang Shaotan along. “That’s our Can’er for you! She knew we’d be late and probably end up at the back. She’s really becoming more and more thoughtful.”
Ning Xiao accepted the praise on her behalf. “Thank you. She’s always been kind.”
Shang Shaotan, however, couldn’t help but frown.
One was the girl he used to pursue, and the other was the girl he liked now. It just so happened they were incredibly close. No matter which one he liked, he faced a massive hurdle from the other.
The last time they met, Yun Can’er had been nothing but cold to him. Why the sudden change to saving seats?
Shang Shaotan instinctively felt something was off. But with his limited perspective, he couldn’t have guessed that the two girls were actually dating and planned to flaunt it right in his face.
Ning Xiao led them to the middle row. Yun Can’er looked up with a radiant smile. “Shang Shaotan, Yuan Wei, you’re here! Sit down quickly; the seats are right behind me and Ning-ning.”
Her attitude couldn’t have been warmer.
Yuan Wei chuckled. “Can’er, you’ve really opened up since starting university.”
Yun Can’er smiled brightly. “Being Ning-ning’s friend, being cheerful is a must!”
Hearing her sweet tone, Shang Shaotan felt a literal shiver run down his spine.
Yun Can’er looked at him with concern. “Shang Shaotan, are you cold? Should I borrow a jacket for you?”
He glanced at Ning Xiao and declined. “No thanks.”
“Don’t be a stranger,” Yun Can’er chirped. “We were classmates, after all.”
Shang Shaotan sat down behind them, still convinced something was fishy. Meanwhile, Yuan Wei’s first move was to text his girlfriend to report his location.
Shang Shaotan caught a glimpse of their sappy conversation and scoffed. Ning Xiao is better, he thought. She’s cool and would never be this clingy.
Once they were settled, the bell rang.
Halfway through the lecture, the professor stepped out to take a call after assigning some coursework. He told the class representative to collect the work at the end of the hour and hurried off.
The hall, filled with over a hundred students, immediately began to buzz with low-level chatter.
Halfway through a problem, Shang Shaotan looked up and froze.
In the row ahead, Ning Xiao and Yun Can’er had their heads huddled together, whispering. They were so close their noses were almost touching.
That wasn’t the half of it. Yun Can’er said something, and Ning Xiao suddenly laughed. The icy beauty melted instantly, her eyes shimmering with affection.
Shang Shaotan leaned forward on his desk, trying to eavesdrop.
Yun Can’er: “kiss you” Ning Xiao: “in a bit, don’t rush”
Shang Shaotan pieced together the fragments he heard and was rocked by the conclusion.
Weren’t they just best friends? Why were they discussing something as “dangerous” as a kiss?
He stopped writing, staring blankly at the two in front of him.
The assignment wasn’t hard, but it was long. After some initial chatter, everyone settled down to work, and the room grew quiet.
Except for Shang Shaotan, no one was watching them.
Thus, a dazed Shang Shaotan watched with his own eyes as they gave him a live demonstration of what “kissing” meant.
Ning Xiao’s red lips pressed intimately against Yun Can’er’s pink ones. He even saw Yun Can’er’s tongue dart out to lick Ning Xiao’s lip!
Shocked, Shang Shaotan’s eyes nearly popped out of his head, and his pen clattered onto the desk.
It was a real kiss! A mouth-to-mouth kiss!
What kind of “best friends” were intimate enough to make out?!
Unable to believe his eyes, Shang Shaotan looked away and rubbed his eyes vigorously. When he looked up again, they were both hunched over their work, maintaining a safe distance just like everyone else.
He let out a breath of relief. He must have hallucinated.
He knew it—there was no way two girls would ki— ki—
His eyes widened again!
Yun Can’er suddenly turned her head toward Ning Xiao. Not only did she kiss her, but she also used her pearly white teeth to give the lip a little nip, leaving a visible mark!
Shang Shaotan nearly fainted.
But being the “male lead,” he held on through sheer willpower. He reached out and gripped Yuan Wei’s wrist tightly.
Yuan Wei, who was focused on his work, jumped at the sudden pain. He turned to find Shang Shaotan with bloodshot eyes, staring straight ahead like a statue.
Yuan Wei looked at the two girls ahead but saw nothing unusual. “Shaotan, what are you doing? You’re going to bruise my wrist. Let go!”
Shang Shaotan turned to him, his gaze hollow. He released his grip. “This has to be fake…”
“What’s fake?” Yuan Wei frowned. “What’s wrong with you? Why are you acting so weird?”
“I’d like to know that too…” Shang Shaotan muttered.
Feeling physically and mentally drained from the shock, he gestured toward the pair in front. “Just watch. Watch them for a bit.”
“Look, even if they are beautiful, I only have eyes for my girlfriend,” Yuan Wei said, but he followed his friend’s gaze anyway.
Yuan Wei: They… they kissed?
How? Why would Ning Xiao be kissing Yun Can’er?! It defied logic, weren’t they both girls?!
He looked at Shang Shaotan and finally understood the profound sadness in his eyes. He sighed and patted his friend’s back. “It’s okay if you don’t have a chance. There are plenty of girls in the world. You don’t have to be with Ning Xiao. Look at me; I moved on, and I’m doing great.”
Shang Shaotan looked like he’d lost his will to live.
There was nothing Yuan Wei could do except offer a supportive shoulder. He certainly couldn’t break them up for him!
Deep down, he felt it was actually quite poetic for these two girls—both of whom had been hurt by them to end up together.
Scumbags didn’t deserve them. Even if the scumbag was his best friend.
Shang Shaotan stared at their backs for the rest of the class. Every time they kissed, his heart throbbed with pain, and his pride took another hit.
When the bell finally rang, he did the math in his head: In twenty minutes, they had kissed no less than forty times.
That’s an average of twice a minute!
