- Chapter 9 - : What to Do When My Wife Loves Me Too Much (Part 9)
Bai Jun was very fond of her aunt, Bai Huayi.
Her mother, Bai Shiqing, had always been extremely strict with Bai Jun since childhood, sometimes neglecting her emotional needs. But her aunt was different.
Aunt Huayi treated Bai Jun well.
When Bai Jun was punished by her mother for not scoring full marks and made to stand in the corner, her aunt would defy her mother’s authority to comfort the crying Bai Jun, telling her that grades weren’t everything. When Bai Jun clashed with her father and everyone blamed her for disrespecting her elders, only her aunt told her, “If you don’t like your dad, don’t force yourself to.” When her mother restricted Bai Jun from eating sweets, only her aunt would secretly buy her favorite candies behind her mother’s back…
Bai Jun adored her aunt, and her mother also encouraged her to be good to her aunt because Aunt Huayi had a hard life.
Her mother said that Aunt Huayi had always been competitive and troublemaking since childhood. But when Bai Jun was three, her aunt went abroad for a trip and returned with a child.
Her grandfather was furious, even threatening to disown her aunt. Yet, no matter what, Aunt Huayi refused to reveal who the child’s father was.
The child was pitiable, born with a congenital heart condition. Aunt Huayi often took her everywhere seeking medical treatment. Eventually, since the child was still family, her grandfather gradually accepted her.
The girl was exceptionally bright, but her condition was severe, leaving even renowned doctors helpless. Because of this, Aunt Huayi’s personality underwent a drastic change she became more composed, no longer stirring up trouble as before. Instead, she actively joined the Bai Group and began handling some of the family’s affairs.
“Aunt Feng, did you hear my aunt’s voice in the video? You mentioned before that Ah Hong’s health isn’t good, what happened to her?”
Bai Hong was the name of the girl Aunt Huayi had given birth to.
“I don’t have the habit of eavesdropping on people’s romantic affairs.” Though Bai Jun had been gradually recovering during this time, with caregiver Sister Zhang looking after her, Aunt Feng still insisted on coming to the hospital every day to watch over her.
Aunt Feng unhurriedly removed her glasses, her gaze sharpening slightly. “Bai Hong had a heart transplant a few years ago. Her condition improved somewhat, and recently, she seems to be abroad for a follow-up examination. It shouldn’t be anything serious…”
Bai Jun pressed further, “How are they doing now? Has she been cured?”
“I’m not sure about their current situation,” Aunt Feng rubbed her temples, her tone hinting at something. “Your grandfather wasn’t very fond of your aunt in his later years, so I didn’t pay much attention to their affairs…”
Aunt Feng’s words didn’t provide much useful information.
Moreover, Bai Jun had always had a vague feeling that Aunt Feng was hiding something from her.
She wanted to call her aunt and ask directly, but she was afraid her aunt might notice her memory loss. After some thought, Bai Jun decided to drop the idea and instead ask Lin Song directly.
About half an hour later, Lin Song returned the video call.
“Was that my aunt in the video earlier?”
“You misheard,” Lin Song denied, looking visibly weary as he studied Bai Jun’s expression. “That was a relative of one of my company’s managers. She had poor character, so I fired her. I even gave her compensation, but she felt shortchanged and kept harassing us…”
That person must have been really difficult to deal with, which was why Lin Song looked so exhausted…
Bai Jun pouted, her heart aching for him. “From now on, don’t push yourself so hard!”
“Such a shameless person should be thrown out by security!”
“You’re just too kind-hearted, which is why people like her dare to show up at your door. If I were there, I’d have beaten her all the way back home…”
Listening to Bai Jun’s frustrated grumbling, Lin Song’s lips curled higher and higher. She seemed inclined to downplay the incident: “Don’t worry, Junjun, that woman didn’t get the better of me…”
But meeting Bai Jun’s furrowed brows, she quickly changed her tune: “You’re absolutely right, Junjun. I’ll listen to you from now on and make sure she never gets the chance to cause trouble again!”
Only then did Bai Jun feel satisfied.
“I don’t know how long it’ll take for my memory to return, and I can’t avoid my family forever.” Bai Jun pressed her lips together and voiced the plan she’d been mulling over: “I want to give myself a two-month deadline.”
“After two months, if my memory still hasn’t come back, my body should be mostly recovered by then. I’ll reach out to my family and friends, it shouldn’t shock them too much.”
“Darling, you’ll have to help me then…”
Lin Song gave a soft “Mm,” her enthusiasm seemingly dampened, the smile on her lips fading slightly, though her voice remained as gentle as ever.
She seemed reluctant to dwell on the topic and shifted the conversation: “The police called me earlier. They’ll probably come by tomorrow before your discharge to ask you a few questions.”
“I’ve already told them about your amnesia. It’s just routine, no need to be nervous or scared.”
“Tonight, I’ll go tidy up our place. I’ve already asked Sister Zhang to stay with you. I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning for your discharge…”
After chatting a while longer, Bai Jun reluctantly ended the call.
Perhaps because of her impending discharge, Bai Jun slept poorly that night.
Despite just one night apart, she found herself missing Lin Song intensely, even drifting into a strange, hazy dream.
In the dream, Lin Song held her with heartbroken tenderness, tears streaming as she whispered, “I’m here, sister…”
She curled trembling in Lin Song’s arms, looking fragile and pitiful.
The pain in the dream felt all too real.
Bai Jun jolted awake, her chest hollow as if a gaping hole had been torn through it. The room felt suffocatingly small, squeezing her until she could barely breathe.
Hunching over, she instinctively reached toward the nightstand.
Only when her fingers brushed the cold surface of the bedside table did she snap back to reality.
Why had she reflexively reached for medication?
What medication was she even taking?
Bai Jun frowned, unable to recall.
It was just past 5 a.m., and Sister Zhang was still asleep.
Not wanting to wake her, Bai Jun instead felt the hospital room unbearably vast, stirring an instinctive fear within her.
Unable to resist, she muted her phone and opened Lin Song’s chat, tentatively sending a message:
“Darling, are you there?”
Lin Song replied almost instantly: “You’re up so early today?”
Seeing the response, Bai Jun drew a deep breath, as if clutching a lifeline while drowning. The desolation that had filled her heart vanished in an instant.
The knowledge that the person she loved in this city was awake just like her filled her with sudden joy.
As a domineering CEO, Bai Jun would never admit she’d been afraid.
So Bai Jun gently got up, walked to the window, and took a photo of the morning sun.
The crimson sun peeked between the skyscrapers, its glow vibrant and intense. The early-rising street cleaners had already swept the roads and were slowly making their way back, while the breakfast cart vendors were just starting to set up their stalls…
Bai Jun sent the photo over, crafting the perfect excuse for herself: “Because I wanted to wake up early today to see the sunrise.”
“The sunrise really is beautiful,” Lin Song replied shortly after.
Lin Song sent the photo back only now, it had been marked with a red pen, outlining Bai Jun’s eager reflection in the window as she snapped the picture.
Bai Jun’s face flushed instantly, but joy surged uncontrollably from the depths of her heart.
Lin Song… really knew how to make her melt!
She loved this feeling: she was earnestly admiring the world’s beauty, while the one she loved seemed right beside her, watching her with undivided attention.
“I miss you so much.” The intimacy of whispering to her lover while the city still slept was too sweet to resist, and Bai Jun couldn’t help but voice her true emotions.
Realizing that such a tender tone didn’t suit her usual “domineering CEO” persona, she hurriedly tried to recall the message but Lin Song had already replied,
“Me too.”

Sister Zhang woke up around 6:10 her internal clock always ensured she had plenty of time to handle her tasks with ease. To avoid disturbing her employer, she never set an alarm.
She had expected Bai Jun to still be asleep when she woke up, but not only was Bai Jun already awake, Lin Song had somehow arrived as well, and a fresh, beautiful bouquet of flowers had already been placed by the bedside…
Why so early?!
Sister Zhang was so startled she even wondered if she had overslept, frantically checking the time on her phone…
Soon after, the doctor came in to conduct Bai Jun’s discharge examination.
All of Bai Jun’s vitals had recovered well, meeting the criteria for discharge. She would only need to return for periodic check-ups over the next few months.
Not long after, the police arrived.
“Miss Bai, do you recognize this person? Have you had any prior conflicts with him?” The officer showed a surveillance photo.
“His name is Lin Feng, the hit-and-run driver from the accident. He’s served several years in prison before…”
The man in the photo had a thick beard obscuring most of his face, a knife scar near his eye, and a vicious glare.
“I don’t recognize him,” Bai Jun shook her head. She had no memory of this person at all.
But the moment the photo came into view, Lin Song’s pupils constricted sharply.
