- Chapter 8 - What to Do When My Wife Loves Me Too Much (Part 8)
On the second evening, Bai Jun met Lin Song, who was dressed even more beautifully than usual, and received her new phone.
The phone had a simple interface with few apps, but it did have photo and video recording functions.
The moment Bai Jun got the phone and opened the social app, she immediately added Lin Song as a friend.
Lin Song was extremely considerate, sending her some company introductions and downloading several perfumery-related courses for her.
“I know you’re worried about the company,” Lin Song seemed concerned she might be unhappy, holding her gently and soothing her in a soft voice. “But with your memory loss, it’s easy for others to take advantage. You can focus on researching new perfumes during this time, and leave the company matters to me.”
Bai Jun absentmindedly replied with an “Mhm,” fiddling with her phone, barely able to suppress the smile tugging at her lips.
Lin Song was truly thoughtful she had even downloaded a few offline games for her.
What reassured Bai Jun even more was that the phone took clear photos and videos.
She quickly got familiar with the new device.
Snapping a few pictures of her surroundings, Bai Jun couldn’t resist moving closer to her gentle and exceptionally beautiful wife under the night sky. She stealthily wrapped an arm around Lin Song’s shoulder, intending to take a candid photo. But Lin Song seemed to sense her plan and suddenly turned her head, leaning in close.

With a smile, Lin Song planted another kiss on Bai Jun’s cheek.
Bai Jun’s eyes widened she had never imagined Lin Song would kiss her so naturally!
But after the quick peck, Lin Song immediately retreated to her seat, reverting to her usual timid and shy demeanor.
Perhaps this was just how they interacted as a couple before her memory loss.
Bai Jun touched her flushed face, not wanting to reveal her embarrassment, and lowered her gaze to the phone screen.
The photo had perfect lighting and angle. Both of them were visibly smiling, their eyes crinkling with joy. Though Bai Jun wasn’t wearing makeup, her eyes sparkled brilliantly, radiating vibrant energy.
She stared at her own image in the photo for a while. Maybe because she wasn’t yet accustomed to her current appearance, she felt a strange unfamiliarity with the person in the picture.
It seemed she shouldn’t be smiling so brightly.
Fragmented, hazy images flashed through her mind her face in those memories was tense, cold, her eyes icy and lifeless, devoid of any emotion.
“Jun Jun?” Lin Song leaned in again, her warm fingers caressing Bai Jun’s face, her eyes filled with worry. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Bai Jun shook her head, pulling herself out of that indescribable feeling, and showed Lin Song the photo. “You’re so beautiful. Even a casual shot looks this good.”
“Jun Jun is beautiful too.”
Lin Song seemed to adore the photo, lifting her gaze to look at Bai Jun expectantly. “Jun Jun, could you send this to me? I want to set it as my wallpaper.”
“Oh, my photography skills are just average.”
Bai Jun pretended to be modest but honestly sent the photo over. Watching the picture appear on Lin Song’s screen, she couldn’t help but smile.
After setting the wallpaper, Lin Song turned back to her, eyes shining brightly.
Bai Jun immediately understood what she wanted.
“I think I like this photo too,” Bai Jun said, her gaze drifting. Though it might not suit her domineering CEO image, she still set the photo as her wallpaper.
Lin Song’s smile instantly brightened even more.
She snuggled up close, resting her head lightly on Bai Jun’s shoulder, gazing up at her with eager eyes as she began to profess her love again: “I really like Junjun.”
Lin Song always seemed to be like this seizing every opportunity to express her affection.
Bai Jun, her face flushed, glanced at Lin Song and, taking in her exceptionally beautiful face, responded in a low, awkward voice, “I like you too.”
“I hope Junjun will always be like this from now on,” Lin Song said, cupping Bai Jun’s face and looking at her seriously. For some reason, a glimmer of tears welled up in Lin Song’s eyes.
That shimmering moisture in her gaze sparkled like scattered diamonds, carrying a breathtaking, mesmerizing beauty.
Bai Jun had initially felt that being held like this by Lin Song undermined her domineering CEO dignity. But faced with such a stunning yet fragile-looking Lin Song, Bai Jun suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
Lin Song seemed both sorrowful and yet somewhat relieved.
Before Bai Jun could decipher the meaning in Lin Song’s eyes, the familiar citrusy scent of perfume enveloped her. Lin Song’s expression was solemn and reverent as she slowly leaned in and kissed Bai Jun’s lips.
Lin Song’s kiss was nothing like her usual self, it was scorching and fervent, like a blazing fire.
“Junjun.”
Bai Jun wanted to pull away, but she heard Lin Song’s soft plea. Looking at Lin Song, who was especially beautiful tonight, Bai Jun felt as though she was melting into a puddle, utterly incapable of mustering any resistance.
As if bewitched, she tentatively wrapped her arms around Lin Song’s back.
This seemed to act as a catalyst for Lin Song’s already overflowing emotions.
Lin Song’s kiss grew even more fervent, and Bai Jun nearly dissolved into the heat of her lips, her mind blank, surrendering completely to Lin Song’s lead.
“Junjun, you should close your eyes.”
After what felt like an eternity, Lin Song finally let out a soft sigh and pulled away, her cheeks flushed, pressing her forehead against Bai Jun’s as she smiled at her, breathless. “But Junjun is just too good, I couldn’t help myself.”
With that, Lin Song nestled against her shoulder like a little bird, stroking her face with tender care as she spoke, “I know Junjun has lost her memories, so she doesn’t know how to react.”
“After all, in the past, it was always Junjun who took the lead in these things. Everything I know, you taught me.”
“Junjun excels at everything. Once you regain your memories, you definitely wouldn’t act like this.”
Bai Jun gasped for air, initially annoyed at her own embarrassing performance. But hearing Lin Song’s words, all her awkwardness instantly dissipated.
She knew it, in their relationship, she was the one in charge!
Relieved, she lifted her chin slightly with a touch of pride, stroking Lin Song’s back as she casually asked, “Then how did we used to be together?”
She had her own little scheme, the doctors couldn’t say for sure whether she would ever recover her memories. She had to prepare for the worst: if she never regained them, she could at least play the role Lin Song loved by learning their past dynamics.
It should have been an easy question to answer, but Lin Song fell into an uncharacteristic silence.
After a long while, just as Bai Jun’s heart had climbed into her throat and she began to doubt whether she had ever wronged Lin Song in the past, Lin Song finally looked up at her with a smile,
“Jun Jun has been so good to me, the best person in the world to me.”
Lin Song’s expression was indescribably tender: “You remember my cycle, dance to cheer me up, and even help care for my family without minding the mess. I never imagined there could be someone as gentle and wonderful as Jun Jun in this world.”
“Isn’t that just what a partner should do?”
Bai Jun didn’t think any of these things were particularly special and was even a little surprised by Lin Song’s idealized view of her. She knew exactly what kind of person she was quick-tempered, spoiled by her mother with a touch of princess syndrome. The person Lin Song described sounded like someone else entirely.
Still, she hadn’t heard Lin Song mention her family before.
“Once I’m better, I’ll go with you to visit your family.”
She took Lin Song’s hand, feeling more and more that she was the one who had married up. Resolving to be a better wife from now on, she asked considerately, “You’ve had it hard lately. What do your family members like? I’ll buy gifts to bring when we visit them.”
“There’s no need, Jun Jun.” Lin Song’s eyes curved as she gazed at her with deep affection. “You’re my only family now. Wherever you are is my home.”
Bai Jun’s eyes widened as she stared blankly at Lin Song she desperately hoped she had misunderstood.
But she hadn’t.
Lin Song continued, “Besides, just a few months ago, Jun Jun already accompanied me back to my hometown to sweep the graves.”
“The next tomb-sweeping should be on Chongyang Festival.” Lin Song’s eyes held a smile but also a trace of melancholy. “I hope you’ll still come with me then.”
Lin Song always seemed to harbor a strange fear that Bai Jun would abandon her.
Lowering her head, Bai Jun felt she understood the root of Lin Song’s insecurity perhaps it was the lack of family support that made her feel so vulnerable.
At this moment, Bai Jun also hated her earlier self for bringing up such a painful topic!
“I’ll definitely go with you.” Bai Jun’s heart ached so much she nearly cried, gripping Lin Song’s hand tightly. “I’ll be your family forever.”
“That’s what I’ve planned too.” For a fleeting moment, Lin Song’s gaze darkened, but it quickly brightened again as she smiled and wrapped her arms around Bai Jun’s neck. “No matter what happens, I’ll cling to you stubbornly and stay by your side for life.”
*
After this conversation, Bai Jun grew somewhat curious about Lin Song’s background.
But since it likely wasn’t a pleasant memory, and to spare Lin Song any pain, Bai Jun suppressed her curiosity.
There would be time for that later.
Once she was better, she could quietly look into it herself that way, she could avoid accidentally touching on Lin Song’s wounds in their daily life.
For now, she just wanted to treat Lin Song well and heal her insecurities.
True to her promise, she video-called Lin Song every day during lunch.
Lin Song’s work locations varied sometimes at the Bai Group, other times in unfamiliar offices.
It was only then that Bai Jun learned Lin Song had her own company too.
This was common in their circles; one person could own multiple businesses. Bai Jun didn’t think much of it.
She never deliberately planned topics when calling Lin Song their conversations always revolved around mundane things like “what did you eat today” or “who did you meet.” Yet, within these trivial exchanges, Bai Jun caught glimpses of a quiet, enduring joy that brought her peace.
She also grew fond of sharing little surprises with Lin Song whenever they happened.
As Lin Song had mentioned, Bai Jun found herself restless these past few days and decided to resume her perfumery courses.
As for the company documents, she frowned after just a glance, a jumble of incomprehensible data.
She spent a few more days in the hospital before the doctor informed her, she could be discharged anytime to recuperate at home. Lin Song began making arrangements for her release.
The day before her discharge, Bai Jun video-called Lin Song again.
This time, Lin Song was in the office at Bai Corporation. When he answered, his expression carried a cold restraint Bai Jun had never seen before for a moment, it was as if he had become a completely different person.
“I’m in the middle of something. I’ll call you back later,” Lin Song said softly, the sharpness in his eyes softening when he spoke to her.
Bai Jun nodded and was about to end the call when she heard commotion on Lin Song’s end.
“Lin Song, where exactly have you hidden her? Don’t think for a second that.”
Bai Jun’s eyes widened. That voice, it sounded like her aunt’s!
“Wait!” she couldn’t help but exclaim.
But Lin Song didn’t seem to hear her. The call ended anyway.
