- Chapter 12 - What Should I Do If My Wife Loves Me Too Much? (Part 12)
The next day, Bai Jun’s alarm went off punctually at six o’clock.
Exhausted, she instinctively reached out to turn it off. However, before her hand could touch the phone, another hand reached out from the side and silenced the alarm first.
“Why did you set the alarm so early?” Lin Song gently stroked her head, soothing her in a soft voice, “Sleep a little longer.”
Indulging in Lin Song’s gentle tone, Bai Jun let out a soft “mm” and nearly drifted back into a daze. However, a second before falling back asleep, she sensed something was off. She snapped her eyes open, and the last remnants of sleepiness vanished instantly.
“Why are you in my room?”
Bai Jun’s eyes widened as she noticed a blanket on the sofa; Lin Song had actually spent the entire night sleeping there!
“Did I scare you?”
“I was worried; I just felt like I needed to stay by your side, so I ended up sleeping on the sofa.” Lin Song smiled, lowering her head as if feeling slightly bashful.
It was because of Lin Song’s lack of security again.
Bai Jun breathed a secret sigh of relief; she had been scared to death! She thought Lin Song had discovered the symptoms she experienced the morning before being discharged and realized her fear of loneliness, staying to watch over her intentionally.
That would have been far too embarrassing!
“The doctor checked me over; I’m really fine,” Bai Jun tirelessly reassured her worried wife. “Don’t worry, my health is great right now, better than yours, even.”
“You work so hard during the day and don’t sleep well at night. You’re the one who needs proper rest.”
Lin Song had already applied her makeup and changed into her clothes, appearing ready to head out for work. There was no telling how early she had gotten up.
“I’m used to it,” Lin Song chuckled. She didn’t seem to want to dwell on the topic, so she gently patted Bai Jun’s back through the duvet. “I’m heading out to work now. You should get some more sleep.”
“Of course I’m going back to sleep,” Bai Jun said, yet she pulled back the covers and sat up.
She was sensitive to heat and had disliked wearing too many clothes to bed since she was a child. However, the night before, she had discovered that her adult self’s wardrobe was filled with tightly wrapped cotton pajamas. It had taken a lot of effort to find a single camisole nightdress among them.
The camisole was a bit small and short, clearly something she had bought a long time ago. It was a tight fit on the current Bai Jun, but it perfectly traced her flawless figure.
Bai Jun had only just realized how exceptional her body was now, both innocent and alluring. She had actually felt a bit shy when putting the camisole on. She hadn’t expected Lin Song to come into her room at night, and since she planned to change before seeing Lin Song the next day, her desire for quality of life had won out, and she’d worn the nightdress to sleep.
At this moment, she had forgotten about the camisole and failed to notice Lin Song’s eyes suddenly darkening as they fixed on her.
Bai Jun felt her heart drumming against her ribs, but she summoned her courage, reached out to wrap her arms around Lin Song’s neck, closed her eyes, and leaned in for a kiss.
“The morning kiss I promised you,” she whispered shyly.
She had intended to pull away after a single kiss, but how could Lin Song let her go so easily?
A prairie fire seemed to ignite in Lin Song’s eyes. She gripped Bai Jun’s waist and quickly seized the initiative.
This time, Lin Song’s kiss was more ferocious, like a sweeping storm that forcefully pulled Bai Jun in. Just as Bai Jun was nearly breathless, Lin Song finally let go of her lips, but the lingering, intimate kisses didn’t stop. Instead, they began to travel downward.
How could she??!
Bai Jun’s pupils dilated in a mix of shock and bashfulness. Her face flushed a deep red as she pushed Lin Song away and pulled the duvet up to cover her chest.
“You!” With reddened eyes, Bai Jun glared at Lin Song, but for the life of her, she couldn’t figure out how to scold her.
Lin Song looked very strange right now.
Her gaze was like a smoldering dark fire, her cheeks were flushed, and her chest heaved rapidly. Despite wearing a formal, conservative business suit buttoned all the way to the top, Lin Song’s entire aura had shifted abruptly. It made one want to lean in and unbutton her shirt, or perhaps crawl at her feet and kiss her slender ankles.
Meeting Lin Song’s gaze, a chill ran down Bai Jun’s spine, leaving her speechless.
“I’m sorry, Junjun. I, I shouldn’t have lost control. I’m so sorry for scaring you.”
Lin Song’s breathing gradually steadied. She closed her eyes with restraint and lowered her head. She reverted to her previous harmless demeanor; her voice was dry and her expression dejected, looking like a wilted flower on a branch, utterly at a loss.
“I was just so happy to see how much you care about me that I forgot you weren’t ready yet.”
Lin Song’s repentance was incredibly sincere, and the glances she stole at Bai Jun were filled with apology.
Bai Jun couldn’t help but purse her lips.
Strictly speaking, what had Lin Song done wrong?
Lin Song wasn’t being a harasser; they were legal partners. They must have done even more intimate things before, but Bai Jun had simply lost those memories. Lin Song had been under immense psychological pressure lately and acted out of an uncontrollable love.
Lin Song was simply yearning for her lover. What was wrong with that?
“I’m the one who should say sorry.”
“I, I’m just not ready yet.”
Bai Jun lowered her head with a flushed face. Despite her intense embarrassment, she forced herself to speak for the sake of her hardworking wife: “You, give me some time to adjust. I’ll find time to learn more about these things.”
Meeting Lin Song’s suddenly brightened eyes, Bai Jun felt a wave of nerves. She turned her head away, not daring to look at her, but her internal logic as a “CEO” who shouldn’t fear difficulties urged her to lift her head and speak stiffly.
“Don’t worry. Once I’ve learned, I’ll definitely be even more ‘powerful’ than I was before!”
Even though Lin Song comforted her before leaving, saying there was no rush and to let nature take its course, the competitive Bai Jun still secretly put the matter on her schedule.
However, she had no phone and no browser, so she couldn’t search the web. She pinned her hopes on the study’s computer, but unfortunately, it wasn’t connected to the internet and contained no relevant material. It only held confidential data regarding the development of the Bai Group and Bai Jun’s current wealth.
This data was password-protected. Bai Jun tried her own birthday and, as expected, opened the files immediately.
This time, Bai Jun understood the financial reports.
According to the records, the Bai Group still held a massive share of the perfume market, with particularly excellent expansion in overseas markets. Everything was roughly as Bai Jun had expected.
As for the assets under her name: not only were there staggering figures in her personal accounts, but she also owned dozens of villas and an abundance of jewelry. All of this wealth had been inherited from her grandfather.
Bai Jun had never lacked money, but she never imagined she would have this much! She was startled; her net worth far exceeded her estimates. For a moment, she even suspected her grandfather had left her his entire fortune.
But she quickly dismissed the thought. Her mother and aunt were still around. Although Aunt Feng mentioned that her grandfather had some friction with her aunt before he passed, he was always a rational man. He wouldn’t have left everything to her; he must have divided it into several portions. She had likely inherited so much because the Bai Group’s wealth had multiplied many times over the years.
In that moment, Bai Jun felt completely at ease.
She had long understood that in the world of business, everything ultimately boils down to how much money you have. And money is meant to buy happiness. Since she had this much money now, even if Lin Song caused a massive disaster, she was confident she could cover for her.
Bai Jun scrolled through the computer to the very end but didn’t find the materials she was looking for.
However, when she went to shut down the computer, she noticed the date in the bottom left corner and realized it was her mother’s birthday.
Oh no, I forgot to prepare a gift!
She hurriedly called Aunt Feng to ask for her mother’s phone number so she could apologize. There was a long silence on the other end of the line before Aunt Feng finally spoke.
“Don’t worry, a gift was sent in your name a few days ago.”
“The most important thing for you right now is to recover.”
Aunt Feng refused to give Bai Jun her mother’s number, saying she was afraid Bai Jun would accidentally reveal her amnesia. While she knew Aunt Feng was right given her mother’s shrewdness, a long conversation would likely expose her Bai Jun was still saddened. She just wanted to say Happy Birthday.
At that moment, Bai Jun desperately wanted a force of her own to rely on; that way, things would have more room for maneuver.
She remembered what Lin Song had mentioned before: that she would send a secretary to her in a couple of days.
In Bai Jun’s mind, a secretary had to be meticulously chosen because it was a position requiring absolute trust. A secretary not only had to coordinate between various departments with tact but would practically become part of the family. A secretary earned a high salary and would know her better than anyone.
Bai Jun couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation.
Once the secretary arrived, she would have someone to consult on many matters. She could have the secretary help observe if Lin Song was facing any difficulties, advise on her designs, and even.
Bai Jun secretly turned red with shame.
She could have the secretary help her find that kind of educational material.
