- Chapter 13 - What Should I Do If My Wife Loves Me Too Much? (Part 13)
Bai Jun began to look forward to the secretary’s arrival with immense anticipation. Even during their afternoon video call, she couldn’t help but ask Lin Song for details.
“What does my secretary look like? Is she around the same age as Aunt Feng? What’s her name? Is she trustworthy?”
She specifically waited until Aunt Feng was away and Lin Song was alone to ask. If the secretary was around Aunt Feng’s age, she would be too embarrassed to ask her for “that” kind of material.
“Junjun, do you care about her that much?” Lin Song gripped the edge of her documents, looking up to gaze at Bai Jun intently.
“Her name is Xu Tu, and she is about my age.”
“I can’t really comment on her looks,” Lin Song said, clearly adhering to the virtues of a loyal wife. “But people say she is a rare beauty in the secretarial circles.”
“As for whether she’s trustworthy,” Lin Song let out a short, enigmatic chuckle, “Junjun has always been kindhearted. She is a girl you sponsored as she grew up, and she is singlemindedly focused on repaying you.”
“She joined your company right after graduating from a prestigious university and reached the position of your secretary in just two years. I imagine she must have earned your utmost trust.”
“That’s good!” Bai Jun breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she wasn’t an elder like Aunt Feng, it was fine; otherwise, she really wouldn’t have been able to open her mouth.
“It’s not that I care about her,” Bai Jun said, meeting Lin Song’s gaze and remembering the earlier question. “It’s just that I’m nervous about interacting with another stranger, so I wanted to ask you about her.”
Her eyes flickered slightly as she spoke. This was her first time lying to Lin Song, and she felt a bit panicked. However, she absolutely could not let Lin Song know her true intentions. If Lin Song found out, her image as a reliable partner would likely plummet.
“I see.”
Lin Song spoke slowly, her expression as gentle as ever. But perhaps because her conscience was so guilty, for one moment, Bai Jun felt as if Lin Song had seen right through her lie.
Fortunately, Lin Song only stared at Bai Jun for a few seconds, gave her a smile, and then changed the subject.
“Junjun, there’s something else I want to discuss with you.”
“Go ahead,” Bai Jun said quickly, relieved. “As long as it’s something you want, I’ll help you.”
Lin Song bit her lower lip, looking at her hesitantly. After a moment, as if gathering all her courage, she spoke softly. “I want to buy a small folding bed and put it in your bedroom tonight, so I can sleep there.”
“I really don’t feel right leaving you alone,” Lin Song said, appearing extremely shy as her head drooped lower. “I know this feeling of wanting to watch over you every second is annoying, but I simply can’t control myself.”
“I won’t disturb you, and I won’t pester you for anything.” Lin Song’s voice grew even lower. “I just want to look at you.”
“I’m so sorry.” Seeming afraid of Bai Jun’s disgust, she stole a quick glance at her and forced a smile. “Actually, I’d understand if you didn’t agree. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have brought this up and made things difficult for you.”
Lin Song kept biting her lip; these words seemed to have exhausted all her courage.
Watching Lin Song’s pained, humble appearance on the screen, Bai Jun felt as though an invisible hand were squeezing her heart. She was so moved with pity she nearly burst into tears. They were legal spouses, yet she was making Lin Song feel so insecure.
“You, you don’t need to buy a folding bed.”
Bai Jun was filled with heartache. Although heat continued to spread across her face, she knew this was the time to firmly state her feelings and give her wife some confidence.
“We, we are partners. You, you can sleep in the bed.”
“There are plenty of quilts in the room, and the bed is so big. If word got out that I made my wife sleep on a folding bed, how, how could I show my face in this social circle?”
“Is that really okay?”
Lin Song’s beautiful eyes gazed at her with anticipation. Upon hearing the answer, her eyes filled with obvious joy, though she still seemed a bit bashful. “I was afraid you couldn’t accept it yet.”
“Of course I can!” Bai Jun retorted almost immediately. “You’re my wife. You’re beautiful, have a great figure, and you’re fragrant and soft. How could I not accept it?”
Lin Song seemed to thrive on these words. Her head dropped even lower, but the corners of her mouth curled up.
From Bai Jun’s angle, she could perfectly see all of Lin Song’s little expressions. That look of secret delight made Bai Jun incredibly happy, yet also, incredibly tempted to tease her. If Lin Song were by her side right now, Bai Jun would really want to pull her over and kiss her.
Bai Jun couldn’t help but swallow. She inwardly despised her own “bad” thoughts; she realized her self-control was getting worse and worse. She constantly wanted to stay close to Lin Song and do “improper” things to her.
And poor Lin Song seemed completely unaware of her “dangerous” situation.
She kept her head down, seemingly reflecting on Bai Jun’s words, and corrected her in a small voice: “Actually, my figure isn’t as good as yours, Junjun.”
After saying it, she seemed to realize she had said something she shouldn’t have. She quickly looked up and gazed at Bai Jun with apology. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. I didn’t mean anything by it.”
“I understand.” She began to soothe Bai Jun with her usual gentle, considerate tone. “After all, you don’t know anything right now, Junjun. Don’t feel pressured.”
Bai Jun’s face turned even redder. Half was embarrassment, the other half was indignation.
So, Lin Song’s feelings weren’t purely out of childhood gratitude; she was also thinking about her body! But because of her startled reaction this morning, Lin Song now seemed convinced that she was “incapable,” which is why she was being so comforting!
It was so frustrating!
Bai Jun clenched her fists indignantly. She didn’t have the theoretical knowledge to argue back yet, but once she mastered everything, she would definitely make Lin Song cry and admit that she was the most powerful.
Lin Song said that Xu Tu would arrive to assist Bai Jun in three days.
While she called it “assistance,” Bai Jun understood that Xu Tu’s primary role was to accompany her and help her recover her memories. After all, Sister Zhang was older, and there was a bit of a generational gap between them.
If she spent all day doing nothing but obsessing over “that” kind of knowledge, Xu Tu would surely think the amnesiac version of her was a degenerate, good-for-nothing pervert. Bai Jun didn’t want the secretary to have such an impression of her.
But right now, she couldn’t possibly act with the wisdom and decisiveness of a 27-year-old. After some thought, Bai Jun decided to play herself—letting Xu Tu see her “devoted wife” side. That way, even if she asked for those materials, she could explain it as being considerate of her wife.
After all, the Bai family’s devotion was ancestral! Even though her grandmother had been gone for years, her grandfather never remarried. Her father was a useless scoundrel, yet her mother still loved him dearly.
And she really, really loved Lin Song right now!
With that in mind, Bai Jun accelerated her plan to decorate the villa environment. She secretly wanted to leave a surprise for Lin Song, so she didn’t ask her for advice. The only person she could talk to now was Sister Zhang, but Sister Zhang didn’t understand her sense of design. The pragmatic Sister Zhang just wanted the entire villa to be filled with cabinets.
Bai Jun looked forward to the secretary’s arrival more and more.
She spent the whole afternoon drawing floor plans. She was so immersed that the sky seemed to turn dark in an instant. Feeling exhausted, she decided to treat herself to a pleasant bubble bath.
Lin Song had said she would be working late tonight and might return a bit delayed. Bai Jun felt relieved, assuming Lin Song would come back after she had fallen asleep as usual. So, she placed an extra quilt on the bed and headed into the bathroom.
She finished her bath happily and stepped out wrapped in a towel, intending to change into her pajamas. To her surprise, she found that Lin Song had returned at some unknown point and was sitting on the sofa.
Lin Song had shed her meticulous, cold elite persona from work. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, her hair was a bit messy, and several buttons on her clothes were undone, revealing the exquisite lines of her collarbones. She looked incredibly languid and sexy.
Bai Jun hadn’t expected to see Lin Song like this and couldn’t help but widen her eyes.
“Have you been drinking?” Her sense of smell was sharp, and even from a distance, she could smell the alcohol on Lin Song.
“Mm.” Lin Song nodded honestly. “I couldn’t decline. I had two glasses.”
“Aunt Feng was with me, so nothing will go wrong.” As if afraid Bai Jun would worry, she looked at her and reported honestly. “I came back after two glasses. Tonight, I only want to be with you.”
“That, that’s good then.”
“You should go wash up!”
Bai Jun felt a bit nervous and couldn’t help but grip the hem of her towel. Perhaps because of the alcohol, Lin Song began to look at her with a strange, undisguised gaze.
“Lin Song, you should wash up,” Bai Jun repeated.
A drunk Lin Song was clearly not as easy to coax as usual. She just stared blankly at Bai Jun without moving.
It wasn’t until Bai Jun urged her again: “You, I, I need to change.”
Only then did Lin Song lower her head and slowly head back to her own room.
