Chapter 15: Flaunting Affection  Brothers, yet Lovers.

Fu Yunzhou cried out for help, but no one answered. Fu Kaijiang had never used “family law” (corporal punishment) on him before. As the youngest son, protected unconditionally by his mother, any mistakes he made were usually dismissed with a few scolding words.

Fu Kaijiang had originally been in a good mood today, planning to have a happy meal with everyone. He hadn’t intended to hold a grudge, even though Fu Xici (the eldest brother) hadn’t prepared a gift or offered birthday blessings. He also hadn’t planned on losing his temper with Lu Yunchuan.

The note “To my favorite Dad” stung Fu Kaijiang’s heart; while he and his wife were planning how to send Yunchuan back to the countryside, the boy still regarded them as his parents.

When Fu Yunzhou chose this moment to provoke his father, Fu Kaijiang gave him exactly what he deserved. The youngest son, who had never been hit a day in his life, wailed in the study as his father threw him inside and locked the door.

Despite the family’s pleas, Fu Kaijiang warned, “Anyone who tries to stop me from educating my son today will be hit along with him!” He ignored his wife’s hysterics and the butler’s hesitation, eventually retrieving the two-meter-long rattan whip from the ancestral hall. He gave Fu Yunzhou ten lashes, ignoring his cries for mercy, punishing him for his arrogance and for the disgusting way he spoke about his “foolish” eldest brother.

The Grandparents Arrive

Eventually, the elderly Fu grandparents arrived. Jiang Wangyue (the mother) immediately complained that Fu Kaijiang was nearly beating their son to death. However, the grandfather, Fu Zhihong, remained calm. He observed the “real” second son, Fu Lingchuan, who was trying to play the victim and blame the eldest brothers for the tension.

To everyone’s surprise, the grandfather didn’t side with the youngest. After hearing the situation, he remarked:

“He was beaten well. I’ve long felt this little one was spoiled rotten. If Xici [the eldest] had the reaction speed of a normal person, does he think he would even have a place in this family? If he can curse his eldest brother today, he’ll be pulling his parents’ oxygen plugs tomorrow.”

The grandfather made it clear: Lu Yunchuan was a Fu, and if anyone in the house couldn’t tolerate him, Yunchuan could come live with the grandparents. After the elders left, the mother was so furious she took Fu Yunzhou to stay at her parents’ house, leaving the Fu residence in a huff.

Gaming and Jealousy

In the second round, Huo Yanxiu gently coaxed Lu Yunchuan to play Yao a support hero who literally “rides” on the head of another hero:

“Be good, trust me, I can carry. Just stay mounted on me.”

They played so well together that their teammate Du complained about them “flaunting their love” (acting like a couple). Huo Yanxiu replied indifferently, “My Yao-mei (Yao girl), why would he follow you?”

Fu Xici walked out of the bedroom and sat next to Yunchuan. Watching Huo Yanxiu’s voice come through the phone and seeing Yunchuan’s character constantly following Huo’s hero, Fu Xici felt a cold pang of jealousy. The sight was an eyesore.

Once the game ended, Fu Xici pressed down on Yunchuan’s hand, signaling him to stop playing with them. Yunchuan obediently said goodbye to his friends and logged off.

A New Player Enters

Immediately after, Fu Xici logged onto his own account a “Returner” account that revealed he was once a Top 100 King-rank player, a national-level Jungler and Marksman. He created a room and invited Yunchuan.

In the hero selection screen, Fu Xici slowly typed:

Fu Xici: Pick Yao. Follow me. Do not come down.

Yunchuan was stunned. He didn’t know his “serious” brother played games. When other players in the lobby complained about another “couple” showing off in a game, the chat went like this:
