The Tough Guy Forced To Become The Broodmother - chapter 6
Chapter 6: Lost Property Revised
Luo Jia let out a huff. “I’m only… only waiting for your dinner.”
Gu Qiyin didn’t expose his lie. He quickly skinned the mutated beast, gutted it, and grabbed a random branch. With a swift movement, he skewered the beast and placed it over the fire to roast.
Luo Jia watched as Gu Qiyin sat casually on the ground, occasionally flipping the dinner over.
Luo Jia asked, “How… how did you fall from the sky?”
Gu Qiyin smiled. “That’s a secret. Anyone who knows it usually ends up dead.”
Luo Jia curled his lip. “Fine, don’t tell me then. It’s not like I’m dying to know.”
Gu Qiyin looked up at him. “Not afraid of me anymore?”
Luo Jia replied, “You’re a good person.”
Gu Qiyin said, “Thanks. But in the future, don’t trust people so easily. Not everyone is as ‘kind’ as I am.”
Luo Jia thought: Thick-skinned as a tank. You couldn’t punch a hole in his ego if you tried.
The meat was roasted to a golden, crispy brown, the fat releasing an irresistible aroma. Gu Qiyin carved off a leg and handed it to Luo Jia. Luo Jia was slightly excited, and a faint flash of gold flickered in his eyes.
Gu Qiyin’s eyes caught this anomaly instantly. He gripped Luo Jia’s chin, staring intently into his eyes.
Luo Jia didn’t pull away. He asked, “What are you doing?”
An illusion? Gu Qiyin brushed a hand against Luo Jia’s face and said, “You had something on your face.”
Luo Jia ignored him and took a large bite of the meat.
So good!
The next morning.
When Luo Jia woke up, there was no one beside him. Panic surged through him, and he scrambled out of the tent.
Gu Qiyin was nearby, having found a pot from somewhere and was busy boiling something.
“Dudu, you’re awake. Come eat,” Gu Qiyin said.
Luo Jia breathed a sigh of relief and sat down beside him. Gu Qiyin handed him a bowl of soup. Luo Jia took a sip, his eyes sparkling as he looked at Gu Qiyin. “This is delicious!”
Gu Qiyin held a small branch in his hand, watching Luo Jia with a smile. “I’m glad you like it.”
They finished their breakfast in peace. Afterward, Gu Qiyin dismantled the tent and meticulously cleared any traces of their fire.
Once finished, Gu Qiyin stood silently, looking at Luo Jia.
Luo Jia: “What’s wrong?”
Gu Qiyin pointed across the river. “There are very powerful mutated beasts over there. Don’t go deep into that area.”
Luo Jia nodded and asked, “Are you leaving?”
“Yes,” Gu Qiyin replied.
Luo Jia fell silent. They were, after all, just strangers who had met by chance.
Gu Qiyin continued, “Follow this path, and you’ll walk out of the forest. The scavenger settlement is just ahead.”
Luo Jia suddenly remembered A-Luo dropping him off and saying he was home—it turned out he had simply walked the wrong way! “I see. Thank you.” Luo Jia picked up his bag, threw on his cloak, and began to walk out.
Gu Qiyin watched Luo Jia’s retreating back. He wanted to take the boy with him, but he was currently on a mission—even the name he had given was a fake.
However, he had left a “backdoor” safety measure.
I’ll take him with me once the mission is over.
A silver light flashed on Gu Qiyin’s wrist; a hidden communicator appeared. He tapped it and initiated a video call.
The person on the other end connected immediately. “General Gu! You’ve finally contacted me! Have you reached the destination?”
“Shen Li, I have arrived safely. While I am away, you are in charge of all legion affairs. In seven days, come to the coordinates I send you to extract me.”
“Yes, General Gu!”
“Wait—check something for me. See which family has a child exiled to this trash planet. Surname: Wang.”
“Understood, General Gu.”
After giving his orders, Gu Qiyin ended the transmission and left the Lost Forest.
The news of the escape pod falling from the sky had already spread across the entire planet.
Trash Planet B-25 that was the name of this world. Its location was unique, sitting right on the border between the Human Empire and the Beast Race.
It was a paradise for exiles; once you arrived here, your past identity was erased. It was also the largest black-market transit hub in the galaxy.
The Lost City was the only city on the planet.
No one had ever seen the City Lord of the Lost City, but legends about him circulated constantly in the black market. For instance, it was said he had a penchant for beautiful young boys. Naturally, the escape pod falling to the trash planet had caught the City Lord’s attention.
The eyes of the entire Lost City were now fixed on that pod.
Gu Qiyin watched the chaos he had stirred with satisfaction. He hijacked a hover-bike, “dealt” with its owner, and retrieved a mechanical helmet from the bike’s storage space.
He started the engine and sped toward the City Lord’s mansion like a bolt of lightning.
Soon, the two suns vanished, replaced by two identical moons. By this time, Gu Qiyin had arrived at the heart of the Lost City.
Contrary to the rumors of it being a filthy slum, the Lost City had its own unique order. The streets were brightly lit, and the shops were arranged systematically.
Colorful neon signs hung crookedly from storefronts next to old, rusted pipes, where gray rats scurried through the gutters.
Gu Qiyin walked down the street. He caught sight of a severed limb in a trash can at the corner but continued forward without changing his expression. A “beauty” with flaming red lips and provocative clothing approached him from the sidewalk, looking for business.
Seeing him, she leaned in close. “Hey handsome, want to have some fun tonight?” She used her hand, tipped with red nail polish, to suggestively stroke Gu Qiyin’s chest.
He smiled, then reached out and snapped her wrist.
A blood-curdling scream rang out. The “rats” watching from the shadows quickly retreated into their holes.
Gu Qiyin let go of the woman’s hand, still smiling. “Sorry. I don’t like being touched.”
